Would the Prime Minister of Barbados state and let the People of Barbados know what information he has that the Barbadian Public might take to violence to try to โ€˜bring down the Governmentโ€™?ย Would the Prime Minister of Barbados state and let the People of Barbados know how many guns and rubber bullets the Government has imported into Barbados within the last six (6) months and for what purpose these weapons have been imported?

Is it possible that the Government Ministers by their statements are trying to induce the Barbadian People to react violently because of their current economic condition by the ineptitude and inability of the Government to deal with the cause of the economic problems facing Barbados? Would the Prime Minister of Barbados and the Minister of Finance explain in detail to the People of Barbados their inability or lack of understanding that our major problem is the cost of the heavy import of food stuff, imported by the major Companies who operate the Barbados Chamber of Commerce; and by their heavy imports of gas, diesel and kerosene oil which facilitates the running of the energy sector which together represent approximately two thirds of our National Budget and is a drain on our foreign reserves?

The Government can cut back on the importation of food which Barbados can produce.ย We are nearly all self sufficient in poultry. We can develop the pig industry on a larger scale. We can massively open up the development of our black belly sheep and stop the importation of inferior lamb from New Zealand. There are other areas of agriculture that we can establish.

In terms of energy, we can open discussions immediately with the Venezuelan Government and PetroCaribe and ALBA on the supply of Petrol.ย We can have serious discussions with the Chinese Government or Brazilian Government on either the importation of solar systems, or the setting up of a solar system factory in Barbados to produce these panels and the Government can ensure that all new buildings must carry solar energy systems.

We can set up a windmill farm after discussions with the major manufacturers of windmill energy, to be placed along the East Coast of St. Lucy, St. Andrew and St. Joseph which. These would supply nearly all of the electricity needed in Barbados. Iย think it is imperative that the Government of Barbados respond to the above if it really has the interest of the People of Barbados at heart and negate any possibility of people unrest.

Robert, the ministers not interested in solutions can don’t allow them the opportunity to negotiate a kickback. Freundel Stuart is just as dishonest as the few corrupt ministers in his cabinet.

  2. The reality is without a media which informs the citizenry the level of national conversation which triggers relevant advocacy will remain at the stupid level. We observe this playing out on BU everyday.

  3. I still have faith in the better judgement of my people. There are elements in the country who are driven by selfish greed, who from the inception of rule by this administration seemed bent on creating unrest.God knows that the present group is yet to find its way, but there is a process in which most of us still believe, so that no amount of agitation will drive our country down that path.In any event the percentage of participants in the last election clearly highlights the magnitude of mistrust reposed in the government in waiting. To bajans I say This. If you must take to the streets be sure that it represents REAL CHANGE. Why change Bernie Madof for Allan Standford?

It appears that this bunch would go to any lengths to secure a parliamentary pension so much so that they would spend money on riot gear instead of making sure that the QEH has gauze, drugs and toilet paper.

    @Hopeful or Hopeless….
How true your words when you stated…re:the ministers not interested in solutions can donโ€™t allow them the opportunity to negotiate a kickback..
With the level of kickbacks; bribery and paid favoritism that exists within the government officials well it goes without saying your country is totally screwed!!!!!!
A few years ago your government officials excepted huge payoffs to allow one Tom Haughton and his Internet Drug Company into your country.
Due to the lax laws governing international drug trade (and the complete lack of enforcement that existed within your company) Mr. Haughton was able to bribe the powers to be in allowing him to set up shop.
Just how many people died due to receiving counterfeit drugs that were transshipped through Barbados no one will ever know (I personally know of seven that died due to relieving counterfeit Avastin supplied by Mr. Tom Haughton and shipped through Barbados and I have received information of eleven more)……and they can all thank your bought and bribed government officials who are just as guilty as Mr. haughton.
For the past two years I have been looking into the actions of Canada Drugs and their owners Re:/ Tom Haughton; Kris Thorkelson; Maryanne (Haughton) Thorkelson. Different government officials have looked upon Canada Drugs and those who owned/operated it as upstanding business. They look at the multitude of monies generated for the coppers of their local treasuries without any concern for just how these monies were generated and the devastation caused through the business practices utilized in its generation. In their collective eyes, blinded by the huge monies generated, this trio is prime examples of what they, the Government Officials Representing the Interests Of Canadians, consider heroes in the business world.
How would you feel if one of your loved ones went to the hospital for cancer treatment but died due to them receiving bogus drugs instead of the treatment that would save their lives…..Then seeing that those who supplied these bogus counterfeit drugs have snubbed their collective noses at the law avoiding any responsibility for their actions???????? Then You Find Out That The Canadian Government Looks Upon These Criminals As Heroโ€™s Above The Law!!!!!
A short while ago the wife of a good friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. She, at the advice of her doctor, went into treatment using a drug called Avastin. For six months her treatment went along just fine. Her cancer was under control with her symptoms being reduced on a daily bases.
Then, all the sudden her cancer returned with a vengeanceโ€ฆโ€ฆthe drugs that she had been taking had suddenly stopped working and her cancer started to spread uncontrollably. It was then that rumors of counterfeit Avastin being shipped to unsuspecting doctors and clinics. With this knowledge her doctor had the Avastin checked and found out that what he had been administrating to my friends wife was counterfeit and contained NO active ingredients.
A month later my friendโ€™s wife, like a lot of those who were treated by this counterfeit drug, died of advanced cancer. We do not know if she would have survived if she had been receiving a non-counterfeit drug and this would be very hard to prove in courtโ€ฆ..therefore, due to the costs involved and the legal blockages put in place by Canada Drugs and their numerous internet drug companies scattered worldwide (and outside of the American Judicial System) any legal or civil charges were not activated.
I am requesting the help of the general public in finding any pertinent information regarding Mr. Tom Haughton, Mrs. Maryanne Thorkelson (Haughton) and Mr. Kris Thorkelson, the owners and operators of the hundreds of internet drug companies (All working under the main company called Canada Drugs based in Winnipeg, Canada) with web sites scattered worldwide.
At one point Mr. Tomas Haughton had set up shop in Barbados utilizing their lax laws and reputation of skirting international regulations especially with those who had deep pockets and plenty of graft monies to flaunt and spread around to the numerous politicians and government officials who readily stood with their greedy hands outstretched. Mr. Haughton was able, through his political and legal connections, escape prosecution in Barbados and hide out in Canada where he was able to sanitize any and all records of his existence (there is no public records of his existence and even with a physical search I could not find anything that even showed that he existedโ€ฆ..even his school records, his marriage records and those of his children have somehow disappeared from public viewโ€ฆ.what money will buy when it is spread around the right sources) thus hiding from public view.
Over the past two years I have been actively investigating the goings-on of Canada Drugs and those who operated this company distributing bogus counterfeit drugs to the unsuspecting public. I have been able trace the activities of one Mr. Tomas Haughton, who was the brains behind the operation, setting up hundreds of web sites to promote the sale of these counterfeit drugs. He was able to establish an operational base in the Barbados (living at 18-19 Sugar Cane, Royal Westmoreland, St. James ) where, through the utilization of his inflated bank account, he was able to flaunt the law and these drugs to the unsuspecting public worldwide without fear of prosecution.
The list of government officials who were bought off in this banana republic, paid to look the other way and to lose any documents so/as to prevent any legal actions is endless. From what I have been able to discover is that multi dollars changed hands (I have not been able to find a positive paper trail but through international banking records and coming from the scuttle bug there was talk about huge cash withdrawals being made but no tracing as to the disposal of these monies were to be found) with most of this is said to have been distributed in and to officials in Barbados.
When Mr. Tomas Haughton left the country (after important paperwork has mysteriously disappeared and any format of charges were dropped) he seemed to disappear from the spotlight but he reappeared in his home town of Winnipeg Canada. There he has taken on the task of running his partners business in the same mannerism that he had done with the illegal counterfeit drug business.
From What I have been able to discover from different news reports and public interviews Mr. Haughton has openly denied that he knew that the Avastin that he was shipping to the public was fake but even after the different news reports were issued he continued to do so.
The following are just a few of the numerous exerts that I have been able to find that were made way before these shipments finely ceased:
From an interview posted by the CBC:
According to British authorities, 82 of the counterfeit vials were shipped to the U.S. by River East Supplies, located in the U.K. and owned by Canadian businessman Tom Haughton. Haughton is currently under federal investigation for shipping counterfeit Avastin into the U.S., offering Avastin for about $2,000 a vial — some $400 less than the manufacturer’s price.
We tracked Haughton down last month in Barbados. He denied any wrongdoing and took a strong stance against counterfeits.

How fake Avastin from overseas ends up in U.S.
“We’re depending on the governments and regulators to make sure these supply chains are indeed safe. I will do everything within my power to ensure this never happens ever again.”
The FDA said one distributor of the worthless Altuzan was California-based Ban Dune Marketing. In February, its owner pleaded guilty to distributing “adulterated prescription drugs” used for cancer treatment and not approved by the FDA.
According to the government, it offered big discounts on cancer treatment drugs — “14 to 60 percent” — requesting doctors keep its price list confidential.
When contacted by CBS News Wednesday, Tom Haughton had no comment. The FDA, meanwhile, would not tell us how many doctors may have received the fake Altuzan, but said these counterfeit products are potentially dangerous to patients who are relying on these medicines to get better.

We tracked Haughton down last month in Barbados.
And from The Daily crawler I got the following:
The only FDA-approved Avastin that is allowed to be sold in the U.S. is manufactured domestically by Genetech. Five million vials of Avastin were sold in the U.S. in 2011.
The counterfeit Avastin was manufactured outside the U.S. in an unknown location, and was sold by Montana Healthcare Solutions (MHS), a company located in the Barbados, CBS found.
MHS sold the counterfeit Avastin for just under $2,000 for 400-milligram vials, $400 less than the manufacturerโ€™s price.
Tom Haughton was responsible for bringing the drugs into the US. He runs several businesses in the pharmaceutical industry, including MHS and 3,000 website domain names.
The drugs were then sold through a complicated web of companies owned by Houghton in the U.K., Denmark, Switzerland, Turkey and Cairo, according to CBS sources.
I have nothing to hide,โ€ Houghton said when interviewed by CBS News about bringing counterfeit drugs into the U.S. โ€œThe businesses that I have are ethical, safe and legal.โ€ When pressed further by CBS, Houghton admitted he was โ€œnot sure what the U.S. laws are.โ€
โ€œItโ€™s my fault that my company sold this product,โ€ Haughton said. โ€œBut Iโ€™m telling you we sourced it from the controlled and regulated EU supply chain that millions of people trust every day.โ€
A source close to a federal investigation told CBS News that Houghtonโ€™s involvement in bringing the counterfeit drugs into the U.S. is a key part of the investigation.
CBS also learned that Tom Houghton is one of the leading suppliers of Canadadrugs.com, the โ€œlargest and most trustedโ€ online Canadian pharmacy, who alleges that they had nothing to do with the fake Avastin being sold in the U.S. Furthermore, Canada Drugs says that Tom Houghton is โ€œone of [their] trusted partners.โ€
Regardless, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says that it is illegal for pharmacies based in Canada or other countries to ship prescription drugs into the U.S.
โ€œCanada Drugs is not licensed in any of the U.S. states,โ€ Carmen Catizone, executive director of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, said. โ€œThey are violating state law every time they ship a package into the U.S. to a U.S. patient.โ€
Catizone also noted that โ€œno drugs that are being shipped via the Internet to U.S. consumers from these websites weโ€™ve identified actually come from Canada or have actually been approved by Health Canada.โ€
The FDA has sent letters to 19 medical practices, saying they may have purchased the counterfeit drug which contained no active ingredient, containing mainly salt and starch.
โ€œWe use Avastin in combination with other chemotherapy,โ€ Dr. James Speyer, head of the NYU Langone Cancer Center said. โ€œIn some these colon, lung and renal cancers, it significantly changes the rate of response and may change survival.โ€
โ€œCounterfeit drugs is a huge problem in the United States,โ€ Catizone said. โ€œThe estimates are that $75 billion worth of sales of counterfeit drugs occur annually.โ€

And these are only two of close to six hundred news articles and interviews that I have been able to uncover.
It seems that, with the monies that were made through the sale of counterfeit drugs and the unscrupulous business practices that he had become famous for, this ???criminal???once again has found a way of circumstancing the laws of the land and inflating his and his partnerโ€™s bank accounts.
He,hiding behind his high priced legal team,
RE:/ (Aikins Law, re:/ AIKINS, MACAULAY & THORVALSON LLP,
and represented by one JOHN B. MARTENS
occupying the 30th floor of 360 Main St., Winnipeg, Canada, R3C 4G1โ€ฆ
    phone number 204-957-0050)

Presently Mr. Haughton is employed as a manager for Thorwin realestate (Owned by Kris Torkelson) and the only reliable address and phone number that I can get on him is:
    Niakwa Park Place
    200-1310 Archibald Street,
    Winnipeg,
    Canada, R2J0Z4
With a phone number registered under Thorwin Real Estate re:/phone number 204-253-1885.

Once again he has found a safe haven, with the sanitation of official records, hidden from public view. To try and bring this individual to justice might be a pipe dream given the resources that he has at his disposal. Knowing his past history of using his political and legal influence (paid for through the enormous profits gained through his internet drug business) and the fact that he has become an expert at circumstancing the law, I realize that what I am trying to do will only come about with the assistance and information coming from those who he had maltreated.

These fugitives from justice might have found a safe haven hiding out in Canada but they are not forgotten. Just how many people, how many loved ones, who went to their doctors for treatment and were given not the treatments that would have saved their lives but a counterfeit drug being sold by a company whose main objective was inflating their bottom line??????? And how often have these criminals gotten off through them bribing or paying off government officials and the justice system allowing them to go Scot free????? Just how many people have had their hopes and dreams shattered through the criminal actions of these predators who preyed upon the innocent sick and dying human beings who needed the help that this drug would have given themโ€ฆ.that is if they had received the drugs that they needed not the counterfeit knockoff that was sold by these criminals who hide behind their lawyers and bought off politicians.?????? I feel that it is time to give them a taste of their own medicine!!!!!!!!
I am presently seeking information on the location; the addresses and Phone numbers of Kris Thorkelson; His Wife Maryanne (Haughton) Thorkelson and Tom Haughton….owners of Canada Drugs who sold counterfeit drugs to unsuspecting people worldwide: To allow these criminals to live freely in Canada just goes to show the depth that Canadians have lowered themselves…..
Please have your office write to him and their highly paid legal team who protects them from prosecution and let them know that they might be able to run but they will eventually get caughtโ€ฆโ€ฆThey might be able to buy off and bribe those living in a third world banana republic but they will not escape just punishmentโ€ฆโ€ฆletโ€™s make their miserable lives pure hell and give them an example of Canadian Justice!!!!!
Any information regarding these criminals and their activities, no matter how trivial, would be greatly welcomed.
Please forward this message to any and every person that you canโ€ฆ..Lets get these criminals off the streets.

@Michael Saunders, do you have any names of ministers or officials in Barbados who aided and abetted the criminals? Let’s help you expose these corrupt persons in Barbados. Do forward any info to RCMP and FBI as some Bajan cops are political yardfowls.

  7. None of this should come as a surprise. This is the American military modus operandi โ€“ this thinking comes straight out of the US manual on military intervention.
Just re-read the literature on President Reagan and Colonel North and their involvement in Central America.
When the US is offering to โ€˜trainโ€™ our military, it is in the art of military takeovers that they are being taught.
When you think that in Nicaragua the nation has been torn apart by semi-fascist soldiers playing at politics?
Get rid of the Defence Force, make it a criminal offence for uniformed officials to attend private parties or pass any unauthorised information to any other state.

  8. was it deliberate that the thrust of Mr Clarkes submission has been completely ignored.
prior to the last elections, Bu submitted what appeared to be factual information regarding Minister Denis Lowe’s purported underhand dealings with a Mr Peter Allard with respect to the Graeme Hall Project. MR Lowe was re-elected with an increased majority. What does this say to you or me?

  9. It says the mass media is complicit.

  10. David –Over the weekend Minister Donville Inniss made a statement about subventions and that he would be giving subventions for large cell phone bills ,entertainment and for people to travel the world —if you have a copy of that statement will you please put it on the blog so we can see it as I have not see it in any of the newspapers and also because it was this Media that did expose it

  12. @ Hal Austin
What has the tiny island of Barbados have to offer the United States of America? Perhaps, America wants to use Barbados as a base of operation to invade Cuba? Hal Austin, you’re spewing pure bullshit sir.

  13. @ Mark Fenty

Plse check out the Monroe Doctrine. Remember the naval base in St Lucy?

  14. @ Hal Austin
Hal, it would be within your best interest to stick to economics which you have some knowledge of, but American foreign policy you haven’t a clue.

  15. @ Mark Fenty

I do not even have knowledge of what is going on in my own home, but are you familiar with the debate on the Iran-Contra and drug running? With the Contra affair and Nicaragua? With the trial of Col Oliver North?
Are you familiar with the t raining of Central American military in special Virginia military colleges?
Maybe I have got it all wrong.

  16. Hal why do you let others with agenda on the blog so easily divert the discussion? Isn’t obvious what this Fenty is up to? Anyway, be advised.

  17. @ David,

As usual, you are right. But we have a wider duty to the Barbadian public not to let nutters get away with nonsense.
They should be challenged at every level.

  18. @David January 23, 2014 at 12:35 AM “The reality is without a media which informs the citizenry the level of national conversation which triggers relevant advocacy will remain at the stupid level. We observe this playing out on BU everyday.”

So David are you calling us stupid?

    We are NOT stupid.

    We are biding our time

    That is what Bajans do.

  19. @Hal
the monroe doctrine…Manifest Destiny has been in existence since the 1800;s Ut us the concept and legislation that allowed the European immigrants to the “New World” to undertake the Ethnic Cleansing of the Native peoples of the U.S. with out fear of reprisal. In those days might was right (it still is) and the basic concepts of humanity did not exist for anyone else.

  20. @Hal Austin “When the US is offering to โ€˜trainโ€™ our military, it is in the art of military takeovers.

I hope not. I know those guys in the defence force. They joined the force because they are so duncy they could get jobs elsewhere, could not even get a job as a conductor on a zr van.

Lord help us if they ever get power over us.

The only way the cold keep such power if if they shot ALL of us and cracked ALL of our heads.

Because only dead or brain damaged people would let those types rule over us.

To tell the truth the average zr conductor would do a better job. We know that he knows how to wake up early, how to work long and hard, how to count, how to persuade people. How to get girls. The average zr man has considerable skills, which the average soldier does not have.

It says that the people are just as crooked as the Minister.

Is says that the people don’t mind crookedness as long as they get a piece of the action.

It says we like it so,

  22. See the point Hal? Here comes Alvin now. Here is a submission with a serious question asked and the author putting some suggestions on the table but the DLPITES would prefer to discuss BS or some unrelated matter. We like it so.

Were guns and rubber bullets brought into Barbados? Was this a routine requisition? Barbados has a reputation for being a stable country. Why are we having this conversation?

  23. Freundel Stuart may ignore the corruption of his ministers but international authorities won’t. When the history of corruption of Barbados is written Glyne Clarke, Donville Inniss, Michael Lashley and Denis Lowe will be given statues.

  24. @ David
You do a brilliant job at handling such nutters. It is all part of the dark arts of propaganda.
You know: police have smashed a $250m gang of drug dealers. What gang? If so, who valued the drugs at such money? etc.
Or, as we had in London some time ago, Metropolitan Police commissioner John Stevens parked his tanks at Heathrow and claimed they had ‘intelligence’ there will be a terrorist attack.
    What intelligence? What attack?
It is a win-win situation: it the so-called attack does not take place, then their action saved the day; if it does, then they warned us.
The DLP brought in a US propaganda expert for the 2008 general election. They are well taught.
Good journalists challenge every claim, from claims that the economy will grow by X, to that Barbados is the most competitive nation in the galaxy.
Apply shock and awe to everything they say and do. Just do not give them a free pass.

  26. Mark… Hal is right America has been in a real dilemma over what to do since they closed Alcatraz . They need another island badly.. Is that irony Hal …America sending its criminals to Barbados

  27. @ Lawson
Spot on, but Barbados is too small. What about that wasteland to the North of the US with 20m layabouts?
The substantive point in the forum is the shout from the PM and his minister of finance that people are plotting to create mayhem and that the MoF’s life is under threat.
Are the police and military planning for civil rebellion? Has Barbados got a record of civil upheaval?
There is such a criminal offence as wasting police time. Was Sinckler questioned about his claims? Were they legitimate? If so, how is the investigation going?
Where are our local journalists to get under these apparently bogus claims?

  28. Lol now Hal … you know we are already American but in name, the problem nowadays you don’t need a mass of people in years past to cause problems . Just look a sochi and a few black widows

  29. People with a different point of view have “agendas” and become “nutters”. Gee – there’s the new democracy. Oh sorry – I have an agenda and am a nutter so discount that last remark. Find another word for “nutter”.

  30. I keep hearing this talk about rubber bullets and riot gear, let’s hope the ones who supposedly have the money, but are broke otherwise, do not end up using these same guns and ammunitions on themselves, when you are digging a grave, always dig two……in saying that, Bush Tea and Simon you are so right, Bajans are more than fcking stupid.

I can’t reiterate enough the need for parents in Barbados and the Caribbean to exercise absolute vigilance with regard to the exploitation of their children now in progress by black greedy politicians who have absolutely no conscience, or white and indian greedier business people who would tell you it’s your responsibility as a parent to not give them (the greedy, and greedier) the opportunity to exploit your children for monetary gain. These particular lowlife have this great need to attain/retain/maintain the lifestyles and status of millionaires and will have absolutely no remorse in injecting your children with poison like the HPV Vaccine or whatever is in those vials those slimy politicians are colluding with others to inject into the veins of Bajan children.

After all, the likes of Innis though he is a father shows no remorse, will boast he is a millionaire and the idea of selling other people’s children to porn does not phase him one little bit, he will say it’s not illegal in Barbados, neither is injecting unsuspecting, underage minors in Barbados with poison, even if it kills, sickens or disables them, after all, he’s a businessman and so are the equally lowlife white and indian business partners with whom politicians collude without thought or care for their own people.

Alvin……….I am sure you have seen where Canada has or is about to sign an agreement with Jamaica to export $1.2 billion CAD of Marijuana every year to Canada. What do you think of that?…while Barbados and the Caribbean continue to lockup, convict and vilify their own people in true backward ass style. The countries that started the campaign against the plant are now looking to exploit it the most for monetary gain.

So now……in jumps Adriel Brathwaite, Attorney General of Barbados and Inniss’ SOULMATE, in top gear doing a study on medical marijuana. I hope this sudden study is not at the expense of the same taxpayers whom they lock up for marijuana on a daily basis….Marijuana did not change overnight, just the word medical was added to legitimize their decades of crimes against the plant and people who use it. Personally, I don’t use it, but if advised by my doctor to drink it as tea, i would, because there are medicinal properties in the plant.

In saying that………..I can already sense and smell the stench of anticipation and greed in the likes of Inniss and Harris to exploit and enrich themselves massively from any medical marijuana venture coming out of this study Brathwaite is so suddenly hot and sweaty in alluding to…Hypocrites will pay some day.

By the way Harris and family originated from India, not Bajan born for all those anti-foreigner experts on BU who do not know obviously who has monopolized the healthcare system on the island and who live so comfortably in their midst, never mind Harris attended Combermere, he has absolutely no allegiance to that school, if any of his playmates care to challenge me, i will tell them why…..Bushtea, now how did that escape you, or do you only reserve your anti-foreigner tirades for Caribbean people, how does this grab you…lol………

Of course Harris will have absolutely no problem at all in attaining even more wealth and further exploiting Barbados and Bajans while simultaneously refusing to pay Bajans any claims from his insurance company, particularly for personal injury that caused death, severe injury or disability, as long as you are black and Bajan you will not get a dime from CGI……just ask anyone in Barbados and you will hear…”they do not pay claims”
    “they will not pay claims”
“they are protected by both DLP/BLP politicians and therefore they do not have to pay”
“with the help of Bajan lawyers they go to court and tell lies and ruin your life all in an effort not to pay”
“they drag the case out for years in hopes you die”

Clearly these lowlifes have no problem COLLECTING MONEY, so it appears insurance companies on the island have regulated themselves to collecting money only, no matter how justified the payments and to think these greedy bitches are re-insured by Lloyds of London to the tune of billions of dollars.

As long as they know there is always room for another grave, let the Barbados government’s politicians and their greedy playmates continue to dig graves.

Should you not be discussing the Roosevelt โ€˜doctrineโ€™ more so than the Monroe doctrine as to its relevance to the Caribbean?
The Monroe doctrine was designed for a political environment of slavery and colonisation.
The big stick diplomacy or foreign policy was made famous by President Teddy Roosevelt (btw coined from a West African proverb) especially in his dealing with the Caribbean nation states while trying to maintain some respectable vestiges of Monroeโ€™s hands-off policy vis-ร -vis British colonies in the Caribbean.

What we would like you to do is to explain why the program heads involving security and defence are the only heads of public expenditure not to experience any reductions in their provisions in the Estimates for 2013-14 with a projected increase by millions for 2014-15.
What is that telling you, A C, given the harsh economic times and the need to cut back in government expenditure that is compromising the viability and integrity of the public health services?
The way things are looking is that the people would be dying either as a result of communicable diseases of pandemic proportions or by the butt of the gun.

  33. Bajans are more sensible than retards Bobby Clarke and some of you think. Yes we’ve got the rock throwing idiots in the Pine and Brittons Hill and Anthony Wood calling on Bajans to riot. Most Bajans young and old will not be drawn into such foolishness. Bobby Clarke is old guard communist like George Belle. What was their role in the Grenada coup, counter coup and massacres? Look it up.

Barbados has a lot going for it despite the economic crisis which it did not create. The traitors and sell outs will always be with us trying to undermine this country. The committed and the patriots outnumber them and must stick to the core values that have made us the No1 Developing Country on the planet. Its time for Bobby Clarke to stop rehashing his 1960’s communist bullshite we are simply not going back there. Its up and on for Barbados.

The path to development is never smooth we’ve hit a rough patch lets deal with it as responsible citizens and wrestle any hurdles to the ground. Let the Bobby ‘Clarkes’ of this world keep baying at the moon..

There are people in this country who are inciting violence and the stupidity of the government to add more fuel to it, went and spend money they don’t have on weapons they will not need to use. How stupid could partisan people be and how ignorant could a government be to do this. The DLP have shown themselves to be real jokers and you wicked people on here and those who will incite violence are just as wicked.

  35. Are we (the government) looking the right places for preparation for social upheaval?
What about those business people who bring in massive containers with so-called goods, who then ‘tip’ customs to go away before they offload their contraband? What about those super yachts that come in unsearched? What about people with private planes, who fly in unattended by customs, immigration or health?
This is not to suggest anything untoward by Sir Kyffin, or that he is implicit in any breaking of the law, but I am reliably told he has a hangar at the GAIA complete with it s own customs, immigration and health desks.
Although he is a busy man, should he and his guests not compelled to go through the normal customs etc.
Our national security border is only as strong as its weakest link.

  36. These intellectually and politically backward and discredited DLP and BLP disorganizations must go in this country!

The broad masses and middle classes of this country must do whatever is within their powers and rights to rid this country of these two vile and evil polical monsters that have over the years been doing substantial and
, in many cases, irreparable social and political damage and wrong to so many thousands of people of these same two classes and to so many enterprises within the commercial business sectors of this country.

No doubt the DLP and BLP together constitute a very small minority of people in this country, that can be at the right time properly rightly politically electorally removed from the parliament of this country.

Believe it, this time is the right time to get the rid of them.

    PDC

    @ David,

As usual, you are right. But we have a wider duty to the Barbadian public not to let nutters get away with nonsense.
They should be challenged at every level.”

So Hal I challenge you to be factual as well. The EVIL OR THE GOOD IN American FOREIGN policy did not begin with Reagan or Oliver North nor has it ended with them as evidenced by the murder of Bin Laden by Mr Obama the progenitor of change. To speak of the ills of American foreign and domestic policy -the crumbs from the evil upon which we rely- without speaking of the ills of Russian, French, British, Japanese and Chinese foreign policy is disingenuous.

  38. Wuh kind of bull am i reading…….the govt inducing or inciting actions by the people, because There is a possibilty that the Govt has replenish their outdated and less than effective arsenal that is meant to protect the country.( what kind of illogical gibberish.is this article another attempt to undermine investor confidence further leading to economic instability ! boy the well oiled propaganda machine is in FULL SWING.. GOD BLESS BARBADOS. may those who wish EVILor harm on this country rot in HELL.

  39. @ Balance

Stick to the motion on the table: the threat to Barbados’ internal security.

  40. It is sad that it had to come to this.
A stupid electorate voted for an equally stupid political party called the DLP who in the face of a recession , made all the wrong moves in 2008 and 2013 and blames everybody but themselves.

I blame the DLP for everything that is happening in Barbados , everything -social , economic -psychological pressures -you name it –

I blame them because they are the Government and they are not safeguarding the society;they are piss poor and redounds to the detriment of the society and economy

I overheard some government workers cussing the Government and the NUPW saying that they have received no promotions, appointments nor salary increases and now the NUPW joining with the government and sending home people . One person said that they have been working 22 years and has never received a promotion. They are qualified and work well but the system is slow and the powers that be are not looking out for the workers. Promotion and appointments is a national disgrace. No increase in salaries , no promotions, no appointments . It is amazing how much you hear from people on the ground, people who are vex and the people vex–So bring out the riot gear.

Gabby said -One day Coming Soon
and Riots. Gabby has certain gifts –Ignore Gabby at your peril . Most artists in a country pick up vibes because they are more connected than a lot of people, connected to the force of nature and like ants and other animals, they sense when something is going to happen. They communicate it but hardears ignorant people do not listen until the crisis is upon them. Must be a Bajan thing !

Maybe the press release is correct. When you hear a minister talking about arresting and cracking heads, this is possibly what they were planning for. How can you import weapons and bullets into a country that is about to lay off thousands of people. The budget was presented to parliament since August 2013 and there were decisions to be made, five months later still no decisions made. what does that say about the administration. All I can say is that the DLP seems to like to see people suffering. Are you guys sure that Mark Fenty is not CCC

โ€œThe committed and the patriots outnumber them and must stick to the core values that have made us the No1 Developing Country on the planet.โ€

Why don’t you stop with your boastful arrogance? It is that type of stupid jingoism that is making Barbados the laughing stock of the same developing world and attracting the โ€˜dismissiveโ€™ attention of the โ€˜developedโ€™ world.
Don’t you feel a bit contrite in your big-headed ignorance of projecting yourself as above people you have to turn around and beg for assistance to maintain your misplaced โ€˜unearnedโ€™ lifestyle?

So you feel proud to be head and heels over China in the UN human development index? Yet you have neither compunctions nor qualms about begging them for so-called developmental assistance and financial advances to help you out of a hole caused by your habitual conspicuous consumption of the goods produced by the same less well-off people.

Can you be sensible enough by lowering your big head and appreciate why the โ€˜developedโ€™ world financial markets have classified your place as a financial junkyard? Are you not concerned that their investors are not prepared to buy your bonds or invest in a place that has a mindset that says we are the pseudo-best in the west and we donโ€™t have to be productive to prove it; just lend us your money?

  43. Ruffin

To be fair to Wood he said (in Monday’s Nation) “march” not “riot”. Nothing wrong in peaceful marching surely? Mind – march about what in his view? Poor kids being excluded from UWI by Government fees’ policy not yet articulated. You what? He must be mad. In the context of ‘marching’ what is it to be a “traitor”?

    H Austin

When are you leaving the safety of the City to march with us?

    Anyone

Is there in fact firm evidence of the import or whatever of rubber bullets, riot gear and all that?

These intellectually and politically backward and discredited DLP and BLP disorganizations must go in this country!

    Dear People’s Democratic Congress |
    Please
Place an alternative to the BLP / DLP on the table or be forever dismissed as just a ranter ranting rants.

I do not see how we are going to just get up and get rid of the DLP and BLP.

Lets be realistic PDC , Lets draw the line now –

-Really seriously, how are we going to do this ? I am sure that if you bring a workable proposal , we will buy into it. Please PDC, I beg you all , put the alternative on the table, a workable realistic proposal. I know that by your urgings, you all are hoping that people would hear and get up and act accordingly. Dont know if that will happen -PDC

People’s Democratic Congress –Convince me. I am your test case

  45. Erskine

In this instance it surely doesn’t matter who Fenty is. His views, as with the rest of us, speak for themselves.

On the present government – it has shown itself to be a Government of talkers, tomorrow-men, not doers, again and again and again with a very large sliver of spite and mean spiritedness thrown in. But – though the writing was on the wall – we voted for them. What does that say about US?

  46. What is SAD Is the BLP yardfowls anf propaganda machimn has not acceopted the public decision in FEB of 2013 and now has all but waged on all our WAR on govt aided and abeited by the PISS POOR leader “”one MIA MOTTLEY” now that is SAD.. all thisbull talk can not help BARBADOS The BLP sounds like their PAST LEADER spoiled, and suffering from severe temper tantrums overload.

  47. @Ruffin
“Barbados has a lot going for it despite the economic crisis which it did not create” Hello…what planet you on.? The economic crisis started when we adopted a fixed currency peg without any ability to trade Barbados dollars for US$. We got to believe that our currency was worth half that of a US$ so we just kept printing the stuff and spending it hoping we could generate enough FX to pay for our imports. We have not been able to do that so we had to borrow money to pay and now we cant do that.

  48. This is quite shameful. Shameful that a PM who has completely “effed-up” the country, now fears for his removal from power for non-performance, and is taking steps to turn the defense mechanism of the country into his personal bodyguard service. this is his legacy, his only instance where he can perform with expediency.

What’s pitiful is that he cannot communicate useful or relevant information to the nation, but he believes that his hold on power is his right and not a privilege. He believes that his way is the right way, and he doesn’t want to hear the public, but when they make rumbles, he will turn the police and army on them for his own selfish purposes.

Now, when his ministers have the balls to appear in public and offer duty free concessions to yacht owners, when there is no manufacturing industry here that is involved in the building of yachts, while public servants who try to work, but don’t have their resources effectively provisioned, are systematically disadvantaged, I have an issue with that.

This is what I have to say. The revolution, uprising, riot or insurrection does not have to be manifested in the physical form. That will give the powers that be and the trigger-happy minions excuses to run rampant ad dictate the agenda for the next decade. If the revolution, riot, uprising or otherwise is manifested in the electronic realm, where the chicken-heads in this country cant dare tread, it will be the most successful event this nation has ever seen.

And those guns and rubber bullets that Mr. Bubble-nose intellectual giant bought, he can stuff up the nostrils of himself and his cronies!

  49. As one who was born and nutured on things British I most often reflect on this development called Independence and wonder whether we are better off.I can only conclude that we may have ventured into unchartered waters politically and that includes the attainment of the trappings of employment opportunities in the Public Service where the higher echelons of the administration of Government is now reposed in native born Afro-bajans.Similarly in the anglican church. The americanization of the disiplined forces with all the changes and dangers inherent in accepting their funds has got us to the point where one of our most senior judicial officers is american, sworn to allegiance of the American Constitution.I have said before the Monroe Doctrine is alive and well in the Congress of the United States, and a few short years ago,in the 80’s or 90’s an american official, annoyed at the block of votes wielded by these small caribbean islands states in the UN warned that the US will not continue to ignore its inherent rights and duties to the american people and their interest in safeguarding their way of life.Where did the rubber bullets and riot gear come from?

  50. What a pity that Comrade Clarke’s poignant submission has been shafted by those who use this blog to clog up real discussion of serious issues. Hal is right about American foreign policy-it does not matter if the country is big or small-America will destabilize it in order to achieve its own ends. Thanks for the contribution Comrade Clarke. If Errol Barrow had been a true Black nationalist, we would not be in this sorry state now. He answered genuine criticism with the nefarious Public Order Act
