Allegations continue to swirl that Syria used chemical weapons against its own people

Allegations continue to swirl that Syria used chemical weapons against its own people

It would appear that the United States of America will lead a coalition, which will attack Syria because of allegations that Syria used chemical weapons against its own people.  US Secretary of State John Kerry in an emotional speech has said it is undeniable that there was large scale indiscriminate use of chemical weapons in Syria by the Assad regime and for this there must be accountability.

As I write a definite decision has not been taken or if it has the public has not been told – we can no doubt expect President Obama to have his say in a matter of days.  However, if I have read the mood music correctly, the record is now playing to a logical conclusion.

How will Russia, China and most importantly Iran, allies of Syria in this “situation” up to now, respond?

This action if taken has the potential to launch a fire-ball in the Middle East and we should also note that this action is not dependent on a UN sanction.

How will this action play out and where will it lead?  On BU (Barbados Underground) we are often ahead of the game.  On this one at least when it blows,  it will be in our sights.

  1. @balance

There is enough to go around, do not forget those languages on Guantanamo base.

  2. What terrorist what. Those who hate america would continue to unleash their suicidal bombings on embassys and countries that are friendly to america. Doesn,t need america attack on Syria for the terrorist to increase their deadly bombings as a matter fact one of the positive of america going ahead and attacking syria would be disseminating some of the terrorist cells within Syria known enemies of america

  3. What youn talking about miller the middle eastis a hot bed of a “holy war” however one must still be mindful of the fact that innoncent lives are involved and human rights are being violated and it is a m.oral and social responsibilty borne upon all that when citizens are victimised and murdered by govts. that all should take a moral stance against the agressor and for that reason america should not back down. The hard hearts of Britain yesterday left much to be desired as Syrians fend for themselves.

We hate to do this to you ac but take this double whammy of a wind-cutter and belly-searcher.
Will you be prepared to accept the arrival of the Trinidad army or Jamaica Defence Force in Barbados when your administration decides to crack head and shoot innocent people?

  6. Miller only if a tin horn dictator and communist conspircy lover like pachaman decides he is going to take over the rcock. Hell by all means roll out the artillery call in the calvary and crack some heads and if u foolish enough to get in the way. yours cracked too. Be that as it may i perceived the pachaman.s of this world only got big mout and good at agitating.

  7. Cameron is being asked to resign in Britain tonight, the tories humbled and humiliated him letting him know in no uncertain terms that they will not help him go to war……sign of the times

would be good if politicians in our banana republics could take a leaf out of Mr Cameron’s book and allow the best traditions of democratic governance to function in the interest of the people and not party. nothing to be humiliated about. Parliament and NOT THE PARTY has spoken. GOD SAVE OUR GRACIOUS QUEEN.

  8. But what about priests or clerics of all religious colours especially those of the Roman Catholic War Council?

They are bankrolled as well. As for the Roman Catholic denomination, surely you are aware that the Vatican controls one of the largest financial empires in the world.

  9. Any invasion of Syria without the involvement of other Islamic players would only create a hot bed of terrorism in UK cities like Bradford and the many Islamic communities in place like east London.

Mr Miller- do you really believe that these conflagrations cropping up in the middle east and other rogue states around the world in the last twenty years or so are just happenstance or are really testing grounds as part and parcel of the grand scheme for the eventual imposition of the new world order when organised mayhem begins to touch places like Bradford and los Angeles and Bonn and Lahore etc.

have been trying to find out without success why world leaders from both east and west pay visits to SILICON VALLEY THE CRADLE OF WORLD TECHNOLOGY IN CALIFORNIA sometimes without even visiting the WHITE HOUSE officially.

From The White House: ” I have decided America should take military action against Syria but I will seek the support of the American Congress”. President Barack Obama

  11. @Yardbrom

What do you think the statement means?

  12. Hi David
The way it was outlined and delivered by the President, it appears there is no doubt that there will be a strike on Syria. The President said. If we do not act “now” how will we act when we are confronted with another problem, nuclear weapons. I interpret that as saying, then it will be too late: He is asking Congress to back him in America’s interest.

  13. @Yardbroom

If he plans to strike anyway why seek approval from Congress?

  14. To claim that the strike is legal from an American standpoint – if congress agrees but, if Congress votes against it, as they well might, to soften the backing-back when he does nothing because he knows full well that there is no justification for the strike. To satisfy the war lobby that he tried but Congress stopped him from helping them, thereby reducing the possibility of personal repercussions to himself and family from elements of that war lobby.

  15. @checkit-out

A reasonably analysis but why should he care what the war lobby thinks if he is lame duck?

  16. David
He wants the Nation to be behind him through their representatives in Congress.

In a calm very measured way, President Barack Obama delivered his address to the American people. He was not playing to the public. There was a look of measured calm about him, and a rod of steel upheld his countenance. . . he was assured and took no questions, all left to be said was done, the pieces are in place.

  17. David; Perhaps an unwonted M-L-K finale?

  18. @checkit-out

Suppose we have to leave that on the table given his lineage.
