Life is uncertain. Despite our concerns about the country, I want to wish the PM well and our prayers go with him and his family at this very difficult time. We trust that it is not as serious as it came over on TV.  But it sends a strong reminder to us as men, about the uncertainty of life and how important it is for us to take care of our health. We think of Smokey Burke,  the guy from Square One, and others who struggle at this time with serious health issues. Early checks are so important because as men we are important to the stability, protection and provision for our families, and in the PM’s case to the party. Perhaps yearly check-ups for leaders should be instituted here. I want to encourage every man, get early checks, take care of your health, watch the diet. A country or region can lose valuable talent needed for its development.  I think of Stephen Alleyne, Bradley Niles, the brother of Lionel Nurse; Aubrey Cummings, Rex Nettleford.  The roll call could go on.

It reinforces the fact that we need a state of the art hospital facility with specialised medical skills, to offer our citizens affordable specialised care. How many large sums of money are spent on tests, surgeries and treatments overseas? How many times we have responded as Barbadians to fund-raising appeals to pay for expensive but necessary treatment abroad?

We can lay hold of this niche to provide not only for Barbadians but other West Indians with the potential  to sell these services further afield. Billions of dollars are earned by India doing just that. We can too. It would  provide our medical graduates with opportunities for pursuing specialised fields and getting returns on this investment without having to leave our shores. It would provide greater diversity in our tourism product. Its success could provide higher pay for our nurses who are currently underpaid, and thus attract more persons to the profession. Also it can fuel  the growth of demand for other medical services such as physiotherapists, dieticians, physical trainers and spa services.

I have confidence in us as Barbadians especially in our professionals to undertake the development of a health tourism programme.  Perhaps now the Minister of Health is freer he can turn his attention to this vital decision – new hospital or not?  Together with Mr. Sealy they can develop and implement a ground breaking sector. The BLP talked about it, but was not started.  So make a mark. Pick it back up and get the plan left there, and put it in action. Include Mr. Benn, so agriculture and health could evolve a supporting natural health programme giving agriculture a new lease on life.  You may need to lower cost of water though.

I applaud Ms. Mottley for putting side political issues and wishing him well. The media still needs to grow up, CBC did not carry Ms. Mottley’s remarks, neither did the Advocate.  Kudos to VOB for doing so, and the Nation, although it was not well displayed.

We hope that the diagnosis for Prime Minister Thompson is not as dire as projected. The question however, is whether the PM’s sickness is indicative of what is symptomatic in the Bajan men’s attitude to health?  Is this a wake up call to men?

We listen for happier news.

I understand you. But I and others use this term in teaching Medical students. That is where I learned it. I will not adapt my vocabulary to please a few folk on BU.

When I used the term last night I did so as I usually do as part of a post. As Sargeant pointed out, I have so used it on BU, and there was not any outpouring of hate then. It is obvious that you too understand what I meant. However, you are not cursing me or subjecting me to ridicule.

As usual one line was chosen to hold me up to ridicule, when it is very clear what the euphemism means. I have been called all sorts of names, and the true feelings of many on BU towards me are revealed.

I am not deterred, and NO one will stop me from chosing my vocabulary.

I have not used foul language, nor have I cursed any one, even in response to the nasty things that they have said to me, all day.

I have just sat here in between doing my work and quietly and calmly repated my point, as I have indicated the obvious hypocrisy that is practiced in Barbados.
    .
Also your definition of plant is only ONE use of the word plant. We plant posts and other things.

If folk can curse and say the things they have because I love to use euphemisms, that is their business. I am not going to raise my BP as a result.

As I have said several times in the last 24 hours on this thread it is our culture to plant or dead. I love plant, and I will use plant. NO SIN NO CRIME NOTHING IMMORAL
    Best wishes

Those illnesses sound awful and painful. Is there a chance of recovery, or surgery if it has been caught early or is the stage of stomach pains indicative of advanced stages?

This blog is sounding like people need a church or need God.

Busy day today. While you all rant and rave, the P.M. turned up in Parliament today talking about a big housing project at Nesfield St. Lucy, which Liz Thompson spoke about sometime back. He is getting on with business, because life goes on. The big news not spoken off here today or in Parliament was that CGI has pulled out of the CLICO deal because PARRIS WOULD NOT SEND OVER THE DOCUMENTS, and one must assume that even with his resignation, the power that remains has not complied with the request either. How do you get AWAY WITH NOT COMPLYING WITH A GOVERNMENT ORDERED COMMITTEE. There must be penalties or remedies at law, I mean this is acting with real impunity. That man like he is not frightened to defy any one including the government. If it was some small fish real action would be taken, already. But then if you can buy elections and buy politicians, you can do as you like. Dear, dear me. I wonder if Stuart will take on this as Attorney General to take some action against the officers of Clico past and present, or as P.M. put the company under judicial management where you take charge and do what is right by Barbadians. You all probably need to pray for this man’s soul.

The problem with any problem near the pancreas is its relations to the blood vessels. If you have a cancer of the pancreas or a cancer that spreads to that area, the problem the surgeon may have is whether he is cutting into a blood vessel or te cancer. Also the tumor itself can probably infiltrate into the blood vessel itself.

Phaeochomocytomas are not that bad. All that is happening here is such a tumor releases both adrenalin and noradrenalin . Both of these hormones are also neuro transmitters and they affect the heart among other things. They also promote fat breakdown. But once it is not malignant it is treatable by surgery. Saw 2 of those operations as a student

Multiple myeloma is bone cancer- and bad news. I saw a friend with it in 2003. He was less than half his size. But he was very cheerful the day I saw him.

We are just speculating on possible situations. Without a real history, one cant say anything definite.

All illnesses are dis-eases. And thats what sickness literally is. Dis- ease!

Pain is often a warning that something is going on, but is does not necessarily mean that something sinister is occuring. Pain means go seek help.

For some tumors though pain usually means serious invasion of tissues. But without a diagnosis, or a history we cant say . Crusoe and I were just engaged in an academic exercise only.

You are like most of the persons who studied science to a high level. You are an ATHEIST. You are hiding behind your religious screen trying to fool people.
You are very insensitive as a Doctor. By the way a lot of you doctors who were educated out the taxes of hard working Barbadians are very insensitive.
The word planted as it relates to the burial of the dead would come from someone like you who see human life just as a flower withers away or a centipede decomposed by fungus and bacteria.
You are an uncaring doctor. If you are one?

Define atheist, religious screen, insensitivity (dont you think judging a man you dont know is kind of insensitive? LOL) Good thing Ive been through a lot in my life., if not I’d have to be planted after this prolonged onslaught today. LOL

Re human life just as a flower withers away I think they call that apoptosis. Thats why many people die actually Sir. Didnt you know that that can be proved scientifically? And that many chemicals have been isolated to prove such. LOL

I am indeed a doctor Sir, and very caring too, but after folk die THEY ARE PLANTED! What can I say? Thats what happens. Ah lie?

  7. @brother GP

You are entitled to your view of course but be assured others are equally entitled to challenge it. We should proceed on that basis.

What you will find is Barbadians from all political sides will always debate the issues, often times robustly.

However as in the case with a sick Prime Minister or if it was the leader of the opposition, Barbadians will close rank on the issue, it is simply a humanitarian position to take.

Also, how many times have we been to Church and hear the pastor/priest offer up a prayer for the political leaders of the country to ensure the stability of the nation?

Perhaps some are not nearly as offended with the use of the word planted and more the fact you have suggested that because you don’t know the Prime Minister personally you

…dont care 2 hoots about the PM. If he dead he will be planted soon after like every body else man. or cremated.

Hope you will join some of us above to offer up a prayer for our leader?

  8. Yardbroom, just to clarify I am NOT a medical person, doctor or otherwise, just interested in such things.

GP, while I take your word as the expert, one of the places I had read on aaa, did say that weight loss was possible, probably because of the acute pain.

Secondly, the angiograph or MRI, would be done overseas for the aaa?

The one possible common complication of the surgery, would be better attended to in such as the NY Hospital, with all latest equipment etc, am I wrong?

I was shocked in the reading I did, to find that aaa is so common, relatively.

In fact, the reading I did, frightened me a bit, into thinking that all one needs is a presentation on this, to scare people into eating properly and exercising, as one of the major causes is arteriosclerosis.

When laypeople think of heart issues, we think of heart and thats it. But the plumbing is just as important, especially major ones like the aorta.

If you do not mind, when I have more time I will look up the other diseases mentioned above and get back to you.

    Thanks.

  9. @ BU FAMILY

The lack of “SENSITIVITY” regarding the PRIME MINISTER* plight is a painful reminder to all of us for the need of greater “COMPASSION”…

Please permit me to share a sermon (in 2 parts) from my Elder, Pastor and Brother in the Lord – Christopher Schultz.

When Jesus finished telling this parable, He said: The person who has ears to hear, let him understand the riddles about the kingdom of God.

The story for today finds Jesus six days before he was going to die.

How would you feel if you knew for sure you were going to die this coming Friday, six days from now?

Now if you knew that you were going to die this coming Friday of cancer, heart attack or whatever, wouldn’t you be preoccupied with death?

Would you not be preoccupied with dying? Distracted by it? Would you not become philosophical about death?

Well, in the passage for today, Jesus is philosophical about death. He is philosophizing; he is thinking; he is contemplating for it is only six days until he is going to die.

The story for today is in the city of Jerusalem. It is Passover time, and literally hundreds of thousands of people are gathered in Jerusalem.

Imagine, if you will, hundreds of thousands of people crammed into downtown Seattle for SeaFaire. Jammed into Pike’s Street Market, into Pioneer Square, into the Seattle Center.

Hundreds of thousands of people coming into Seattle from everywhere. That’s the way it was for Passover, with hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world crammed into the city walls of Jerusalem.

In this wild mass of humanity, there were a couple of Greeks in the crowd.

They came up to the disciples and wanted to talk with Jesus. These Greek travelers came up and listened into the conversation of the disciples, and they heard that one disciple in particular had a Greek accent. Philip from Bethsaida.

If you know anything about Bethsaida, it was a Greek speaking city in Israel. The Greek travelers thought: “ That guy speaks Greek. He must be one of us.”

And so they approached Philip and asked him in Greek, “Can we SEE* Jesus?”

That’s often the question in the Bible.

That is often the question in the Gospel of John, “Can we SEE* Jesus?”

Philip went to Andrew and the two of them went to Jesus and said: “There are two Greeks who want to SEE* you.”

Now you think that Jesus would have answered them directly, but he didn’t.

    Jesus was distracted. Preoccupied .

He was preoccupied with his death in six days, and therefore he said: “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it will remain a single seed. But if it dies, it will produce many grains of wheat. For whoever will find his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will find it. If anyone would serve me, they must follow me. They must follow me in death “

    Now that’s a weird answer!!!

    Wasn’t that a weird answer?

All the Greeks wanted to do was to see Jesus, but Jesus was preoccupied with his death, was distracted by death, was thinking about his death.

But maybe there is a connection: That is, to see Jesus is to see the importance of dying in order to live.

You can almost see Jesus words; they are so visually clear. “If a SEED* IS PLANTED INTO THE GROUND* and it does not die, it remains a seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds and seedlings and those seeds and their seedlings produce much fruit.”

    His words are so visual.

And it all begins with the seed dying.

Could it be that the key to life is death?

Could it be that the key to living is dying?

Could it be that dying is important to living?

Could that be the key to my life?

    Dying?

    Hmmmmm.

Jesus said, “Unless a seed dies, it remains a single seed; but if it dies, it produces many seeds and then much fruit.”

And so there is a parallel, death is necessary for life. Dying is important for living.

I would like to suggest to you that this is a fundamental law of life; that dying is important for living. This is a law of human psychology; it is a law of human sociology; it is a law of human relationships. It is a law of divine spirituality.

And the law is this: it is in dying that we begin living. It is only by first dying before we will ever begin living.

St. Francis of Assisi knew this law well when he wrote in his famous prayer for peace; “it is in giving that we receive; it is in dying that we are born again.”

The Apostle Paul knew this law well when he said: “We will not be united with Christ in a resurrection like his, unless we are first united with Christ in a death like his.”

I like the poem, “All through life I see a cross on which children give their breath; there is no gain except for loss; there is no life except by death.”

I would like to suggest to you that there is a spiritual principle at work in this world: it is only in dying that a person begins to live. It is only when we are united with Christ in a death like His, that we are united with him in a resurrection like His.

    So what does that mean?

This fancy language about dying to begin living.

If your dying hasn’t been good this past week, neither has your living.

And if you haven’t been dying this past week, you haven’t been living.

And they don’t say that on Pepsi commercials.

What does it mean to die?

In the Bible, Jesus talks about dying to self.

    It means dying to selfishness.

It means dying to “the BIG I,” the old Adam, the attitude that I am going to live for me, my wife and my family, the purpose of my life is my self fulfillment and me experiencing all that life can give me.

Life is preoccupied with me and my happiness; I am preoccupied with myself, my successes, my failures, and what other people are thinking about me; that I am the center of the Universe.

That’s what an infant believes; that the infant is actually the center of the universe and everything revolves around the infant’s needs.

And many people grow up but remain infants; still believing that they are the center of their universe.

They never grow up but experience infantile paralysis; being paralyzed by their self-centeredness.

But when life revolves around me, I am not really living at all.

When that childish self-centeredness finally begins to die, finally I begin to live.

Jesus said, “Unless a seed dies, it remains only one seed; but if it dies, it produces many seeds and seedlings of little love which then grow into great love.”

It is not only our childish self-centeredness that needs to die but also our sinfulness.

Our sins that hurt us and others around us.

It is when our sinfulness dies, that we are healthier and better.

For example, I had a great conversation this week.

A person called me recently and told me about being with their father in the midst of death. Father, age 5l, cancer, down to 95 pounds.

And there on that Sunday afternoon, rubbing her father’s back with oil. The joy, the pleasure, the satisfaction of touching and caring for her father.

How wonderful Sunday was, and how awful Monday was when he died.

But it wasn’t that long before that this young woman was healed of her addiction, so that she was free and able to take care of her father in death.

There on that Sunday afternoon, she was free, free to love and care and focus on the needs of her father, not being paralyzed by her addictions.

There would have been no living with her father in his closing moments of life if there hadn’t been dying, dying of her sinfulness.

I can tell you story after story after story about people who have died to sin, died to sinful addictions, so that they were free to live a fruitful and loving life.

So Jesus says that it is a fundamental truth, that it is only in dying, that you begin living.

Each one of us struggles with our own sinfulness.

I have mine and you have yours.

And it is only as your personal sinfulness dies daily that you begin to live.

I would like to leave you with a riddle. What does a salmon, a seed and you and I have in common?

If you understand the answer to that riddle, you will SEE* Jesus.

  10. PART 2:

In preparation for the sermon for today, I wanted to find out what happened to seeds when they are planted into the ground and die.

The key to the text for today focuses on the seed that dies, and so….. I called the Dunn Seed Company.

I thought the Dunn Seed Company would know about seeds. So I telephoned them and said: “This is the Pastor from Grace Lutheran Church.

I am working on a sermon for this Sunday about seeds and you people are experts about seeds.

I read in the Bible that Jesus said that when a seed dies, it bears much fruit.

Can you tell me what happens to a seed when it is planted, that is, when it dies?”

The clerk on the other end of the telephone line said, “(Long pause) – That is one of the wonders of nature.

Let me have you talk to my boss.”

So the boss got on the phone, and I said to the boss, “My name is Pastor Schultz; I am preaching a sermon about seeds.

Jesus said that unless a seed dies, it remains only one seed; but when a seed dies, it bears many seeds.

Can you tell me what happens when a seed dies? I need to know. ”

The boss said, “That is quite a philosophical question.

The way I have it figured out is this.

In every seed there is a cell of diatron which is filled with chlorophyll, and all seeds have little chlorophyll in them.

    For me, that’s the soul.

There is cabbage chlorophyll (a cabbage soul).

There is carrot chlorophyll, a carrot soul.

There is asparagus chlorophyll, asparagus soul.

And we, as human beings, have chlorophyll, the human soul; and it you want to live, you have chlorophyll.

But I really don’t know the answer to your question, but I do advice that you call Dr. David Gibbs who has a Ph.D. in plant physiology at the University.

So I telephoned Dr. Gibbs and gave him the same introduction and question, “My name is Pastor Schultz. I am preaching a sermon about Christ. The key to the sermon is this: Unless a seed dies, it remains a single seed, but if it dies, it produces many seeds and therefore much fruit.

Can you tell me what happens when a seed dies?”

The professor finally had the right answer.

It helps to have a PhD in plant physiology.

He told me that inside every seed is an embryo, and in that embryo is a root which goes down into the ground; and a shoot that goes up into the sky.

Every embryo has a root and a shoot; and inside that little embryo, (and this is really a miracle), there is an “on” and “off” switch.

I didn’t know that. I didn’t know that seeds have “on” and “off” switches.

    But they do.

Every seed has a little “on” and “off” mechanism. And when you plant a seed into the ground at 40 degrees for 40 days, that mechanism goes on, but if the temperature is at 20 degrees, the mechanism stays off.

There is a miraculous mechanism which goes on and off.

Now there is also a thin coat around that seed which protects the oxygen from coming in prematurely.

And then when this dormant seed is planted into the ground, for 40 days at 40 degrees, the switch goes “on” and the seed takes in water, and it miraculously begins to expand, and the seed coat is broken, and it begins to mature and produces sugar and protein; and then out comes the little roots and the little shoots, and the shoots produce more seeds which produce more fruit.

And that’s what happens when a seed dies,” said the professor. “It’s a miracle.”

    Thank you, Dr. Gibbs.

And so Jesus said, “Unless a seed dies, it remains a single seed; but if it dies, it produces many seeds and then much fruit.”

WE MUST BE SENSITIVE IN OUR USE OF LANGUAGE ESPECIALLY WHERE HURT, PAIN & INJURY IS INVOLVED…

Re WE MUST BE SENSITIVE IN OUR USE OF LANGUAGE ESPECIALLY WHERE HURT, PAIN & INJURY IS INVOLVED…

Let us all purpose in our hearts to be more like JESUS!!!

Certainly this includes cursing and calling other folk names that we do not know because we do not like thier choice of words.

Planting = buried = inter ALL INVOLVE PUTTING SOMETHONG INTO THE GROUND. Check the etymology of the words!

I have said what I have to say. And I stand by what I said. I have committed no sin and broken no laws. I will not recant!

And NO David. I wont be praying for YOUR LEADER. He is NOT MY LEADER. I acknowledge ONE LEADER ONLY. I have more important folk to pray for and more important things to pray about. And I do have the right to chose about what and who to pray.

I do not get involved with the cosmos diabolicos (the world system.) I reserve the right to be me, and to be singularly different. I resent the cursing and harrassment and hatred expressed because I exercised FREE SPEECH ON BU. But I expect to be hated and persecuted for his sake.

On being like Jesus. Check the gospels He didnt fuss with the leaders of his day either. He was destroyed by the cosmos diabolicos of his day. So were the prophets and the apostles.

I repeat David because I honestly DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE PM. And if he dies HE WILL BE PLANTED LIKE EVERBODY ELSE. He just is not important to me!

I have the right to my opinion and the FREE SPEECH TO STATE THAT. At least I am honest! And not hypocritical about it! The whole of Barbados can close ranks or do what you wish. I will defend my position strongly and stubbornly. What sensitivity what?

Folk on BU have said worse on BU about MY LEADER, and have displayed a lack of sensitivity in so doing. They were talking about theKING OF KINGS & LORD OF LORDS. I didnt hear a soul object, and it was done more than once. Folk on BU displayed insensitivity against his servants I didnt hear a soul object, and it was done more than once.

    What sensitivity what?

  13. @ GP…

As a Christian following the mandate of the Bible, how does one determine (again as a Christian) who is important or not to you?

It is not true for you to say…’Folk on BU displayed insensitivity against his servants I didnt hear a soul object, and it was done more than once.

They were several posters who spoke out against this and it is there for all to read.

You said…’Certainly this includes cursing and calling other folk names that we do not know because we do not like thier choice of words

Isn’t this the same thing you have done to ROK, by calling him a jackass (lol, still cracks me up) because he had a different opinion to yours, however wrong or right?

You keep harping about the lack of free speech on BU and having to sing with the choir.
Haven’t you benefited tremendously from free speech on BU many times over and right now look……you are not with the choir but belting out solo too..lol.

I was concerned of an effort to discredit BU and you call it a conspiracy theory but doesn’t the same apply to you when you state that NO ONE on BU like you and EVERYONE tries to discredit you, even though there is always evidence to the contrary?

I know you will say now that Technician lambasting you but I am just asking questions based on your statements.
You remind me of that guy on FOX…… Bill O’rielly.

  14. From one human being to another I wish the PM a speedy and full recovery from his illness whatever it may be. God bless.

Q As a Christian following the mandate of the Bible, how does one determine (again as a Christian) who is important or not to you?

A How do you determine who is important to you or not?
The PM is just not high on my list of priorities. I do not think of the PM or superstars etc as I said earlier. That’s me. I have the right to be me.

Re It is not true for you to say…’Folk on BU displayed insensitivity against his servants I didnt hear a soul object, and it was done more than once. They were several posters who spoke out against this and it is there for all to read.

Who spoke out when you all were lambasting the so called BU Trinity. NO one. You were all of one accord or kept silent.

Re You keep harping about the lack of free speech on BU and having to sing with the choir.
Yes I do. On BU folk sing with the choir or keep silent. There are few to go against the grain. Speech is not free in the sense that folk are not willing to allow folk to freely tell the truth. When Yardbroom said he married a white woman, there was all kind of bovine excrement expressed. Yardbroom committed no crime or broke no law by marrying a white woman. I am not free to say what I said. Two lines of a whole post has been arrested and blown up. People swear on BU and use foul language and make errors of fact. If I were to arrest each such incident. There would be fun here.

Many awful things are said on BU- especially this year. And it went without rancour or hate. But GP says the PM will be planted like everyone else, and that’s a problem GP says he don’t care about the PM and you have launched an inquiry in your post? LOL

Q Haven’t you benefited tremendously from free speech on BU many times over
In what way have I benefitted Sir more than anyone else. BU is a place I come to amuse myself, as I am indeed doing now. I get no benefit there from Sir, not according to my definition of benefit, anyway.

I laugh at your phrase “benefitted tremendously”! Huh? How?

Re and right now look……you are not with the choir but belting out solo too..lol. You got it!. I have always sang solos from a youth, and I march to the sound of my own drum not to anyone else’s beat, as can clearly be seen. I do not follow the herd. And I am motivated by my own convictions, not by the herd’s or the BU posters . And can defend why and what I say and do.

I don’t care if you folk like me or not you know. I want to make that clear. I am merely stating that I realize and recognize it.

Actually Bill O’rielly is quite smart, and good at what he does, when you get to understand him——and well paid too! He exposes the cosmos diabolicus.

Yes Techie wunnah like to try to discredit me. Wunnuh call it challenging and giving pressure. I find it quite amusing really. Can you figure out why?

I can cite several instances of folk trying to discredit things that I said that was 100% accurate. When I said that Wolmer died from natural causes is one. Caster Semanya is another and I can go on.

And I didn’t call Rok a jackass because he had a different opinion. He demonstrated it when he tried to prove that I was not correct about a tried and true and well know convention in Medicine that is held universally! He has always opposed me over the last 18 months, and I did not respond to him; but that one was a conker! That was a full toss!

Didn’t he call me an ass last week too? But I was able to counter his attempted yorker!
And of course with your convenient memory, you forget the many other things he and others said about me, that are untrue.

So its not the same thing, because in planting, burying and interring something is put into the ground (c.f Latin in terra). I chose to use a euphemism, and coupled it with my remark based on my position on the cosmos diabolicos. But certain folk who love to come after me to discredit me could not let it pass. You all jumped at the opportunity, and proved the point I was making to someone, and continue to make. LOL The exact thing I expected occur, occurred. Only that some discreditors were late in coming to the party. (c.f Caesar Gallic War book 4 chapter 24 with the futurum esse followed by futurum iri 20 lines down the page) Caesar knowing that what did happen would happen………..LOL Psychology sweet….and Latin.

Re I was concerned of an effort to discredit BU and you call it a conspiracy theory.
You exercised free speech then, by giving your opinion, and I did the same. I exercised free speech by indicating my opinion and pointing out that the attempt would not work and why?

I hope I have answered your questions Techie. It has been a pleasure…… as usual lol

There is a modern dialectic which many intellectually versed Christians grapple with –

THE ISSUE IS THE UNCONDITIONAL OBLIGATION TO LOVE v THE INHERENT, FUNDAMENTAL LAW WHICH GOVERNS OUR INDIVIDUAL HUMAN RIGHTS*…

So what does it mean to be loved?

To be LOVED* by others means your inherent (God-defined) human rights will be respected by those who claim they love you, right?

Jesus was not talking about moral “license” to do anything you want to do at any given moment. He was talking about living in a morally-fallen world within the morality of God, not outside His morality.

One need not be a Christian to understand that love cannot be unconditional. The idea that love could and should be unconditional is not rational (it cannot logically hold consistent reasoning).

A woman or man attempting to live under the false teaching that he/she must love his/her spouse unconditionally, has no moral basis by which to request divorce for adultery or abandonment. A marriage with no conditions is not marriage…

A person attempting to live under the false concept that he/she must love unconditionally has no basis whereby he/she may leave a relationship because of physical and/or psychological abuse…

A child that has been taught that he/she must love unconditionally (teaches the child that he/she must obey his/her parents unconditionally) imprisons the child in evil.

The false idea that the child (or adult) must be taught to love unconditionally imprisions the child (or adult) into a non-challenge environment…

This teaching denies that a child (or adult) has any human right(s).

This teaching ultimately calls God a liar when He states that we each have a right to act out a protective self-interest (a statement that makes the claim that we have no right to “self-defense” within any situation)…

Parents taught that they must love their children unconditionally have no moral basis to refuse to tolerate anything the adult child decides to do or any lifestyle the adult child determines to express…

This is in direct conflict with the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 10:32-39…

Parents, sisters or brothers who are taught they must love unconditionally have lost the Biblically-taught right to remove themselves from an abusive environment or reject any behavior that is not consistent with Bible teachings…

Any person who has accepted the false idea that he or she must love others unconditionally is “morally” (if they are rationally consistent) forced to endure all kinds of evil within his or her personal world, his/her work world or political world in the name of Christian “love.”

This false teaching that love CAN* be and SHOULD* be unconditional is endemic within the secular and Christian worlds.

Regardless of whether LOVE* ought to be CONDITIONAL* or UNCONDITIONAL* – as Christians we must guard against what Paul warns his son in the faith in his letter 2 Timothy 3:1 – 8, that the time will come amongst Christian folks where we will see these type of individuals exhibiting certain behaviors because of a lack of true spiritual & personal character…

He warn us that we must do all we can possible by the grace of GOD* to avoid being:-

    * “Lovers of self, self-centered”; greedy beyond belief; “abusive, blasphemous, scoffers, disobedient to parents, unholy, ungrateful, and profane”…

    * “Without natural affection, callous, inhuman, relentless, loose morally, uncontrolled, fierce, haters of good”…

    * “Treacherous, betrayers, rash and inflated with self-conceit; lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements rather than lovers of God”…

    * “From such [people] turn and run (FAST) in the other direction”…

  17. @Goergie Porgie

Maybe I shouldn’t get involved in this rift you guys are having, but I just wish to say one thing. It is true that alot of awful and disrespectful insults and remarks have been thrown back and forth on BU, especially as it pertains to partisan political debate, but when the subject is of the serious illness of a person, one would expect a little more decorum from commenters.

There are times and situations when it is better to say nothing at all if you don’t have anything decent and respectful to say. This is one of those times and situations.

  18. Georgie Porgie Avatar
    Georgie Porgie

My dear friend you do not know me.

I dont hear or see you quoting to other posters on BU who are actually doing wrong.

I have said what I had to say, and I hold to it. So you can quote the rest of Timothy. .

I just got an email from a young man who has gone out to Indonesia to work among the Moi tribe.

I care deeply for persons like that. I support folk like that. I pray for folk like that.

I reserve the right to care support and pray for those who are making a difference in lives in my opinion according to the precepts in 3rd John.

I reserve the right not to be interested in the PM, or the cosms diabolicos, and to state that freely under the “free speech provisions on BU” regardless to what all wunnah think!

So you can preach like Peter and pray like Paul, NONE of you will be sitting at the judgement seat of Christ when I get there. NONE! Ah lie?

  19. @GP

Thanks for your response. Although it seems we are talking about different leaders. There is nothing wrong with having differences of opinion. BU’s position remains you are using generalizations to support a position.

Thanks for corroborating that ” It is true that alot of awful and disrespectful insults and remarks have been thrown back and forth on BU, especially as it pertains to partisan political debate.”

That was accepted! NO one objected to such posts.

    Now this is the hypocrisy!
What makes the illness of a person different?

Illness is normal in the sense that it is common and has been present since our fore parents sinned in the garden!

It is hypocritical to hurl abuse at a man when he is well………………. and then when he is ill talk rubbish! IT IS THE SAME MAN.

You didnt care about him when he was well. You hated him or despised him when he was well ………..and now you PRETEND to care about him when he is ill? THATS HYPOCRISY!

    What decorum what?
Decorum is DEFINITELY NOT THE NORM ON BU. Its free speech here man. LOL

What can tell me about illness and decorum in illness?

I have NOT said anything that is indecent or not factual Sir. The PM will be planted like everybody else when he dies! Ah lie?

Why didnt you tell this to those who attacked me for a simple statement of fact?
And I quote “There are times and situations when it is better to say nothing at all if you don’t have anything decent and respectful to say. ”

This ought to be a rule on BU! LOL

THe PM IS ONLY A MAN LIKE THE REST OF MEN IN BIM

He eats drinks puts on his pants like all the other men i the country. And he will die and be planted like them all. And that is the truth. Why cant you understand that.

I have committed no sin or no crime…. and I have the time to defend my position stoutly and stubbornly!

  21. @GP

“Actually Bill O’Reilly is quite smart, and good at what he does, when you get to understand him – and well paid too! He exposes the cosmos diabolicus…”

To hold up “GUYS” like O’Reilly as the “POSTER_BOY” on his “white” horse brandishing his [pro]verbial sword of twisted truth in an onslaught to expose what you term as – THE COSMOS DIABOLICUS is like crediting a “RACIST” with the virtues of being a “NEGRO-LOVER”!!!

  22. @ GP

Withal due respect my dear brother, I offered you PHILADELPHIAN* advice (F.O.C)…

Religious semantics and politics is tricky terrain…

Fools tread where angels fold their wings…

We all must examine our own hearts – allowing the Holy Spirit to do Its work in us…

  23. Georgie Porgie Avatar

    David
No we are not talking about different leaders.
You and the BU fraternity worship revere and respect the PM.

I don’t think of him, at all; that’s all. I don’t care for movie stars and pop stars and politicians as some folk do. I never have from my youth. That’s me.

You know who my leader is and whom I worship revere and respect.
Some don’t feel the same way as I do, but I don’t curse them because they don’t.

If there is nothing wrong with having differences of opinion, why the hullabaloo?
I am not generalizing at all. I can list incidents to support my position.
Right now it is one of hypocrisy. You will not see one remark that I made against the PM on BU, or elsewhere. Because he means nothing to me. I have that right.

Two lines of a whole post has been arrested and blown up. People swear on BU and use foul language and make errors of fact. If I were to arrest each such incident. There would be fun here.
Many awful things are said on BU- especially this year. And it went without rancour or hate. But GP says the PM will be planted like everyone else, and that’s a problem GP says he don’t care about the PM and all hell break loose. Its hilarious David. Simply hilarious. And I have taken time out from my schedule to enjoy it!

So you guys can hate on and rant on. I will respond ever so sweetly, and stick to my moot.
The PM will be planted like everyone else. And I still dont care 2 hoots about the PM. Thats just the truth

I love your piece of prose re Bill O’Reilly brandishing his [pro]verbial sword of twisted truth in an onslaught to expose what you term as – THE COSMOS DIABOLICUS

Now you may be correct; but he does present another side hat I don’t hear on the other side(s) of the fence. One wonders if they are not twisted too. At least it is for me light entertainment!

I do understand your PHILADELPHIAN* advice, but I am quite cool and calm in having fun with this hold thing. The whole Psychology of the issue is very interesting to me. I don’t get too involved in politics or politicians, except to observe how world politics seem to be putting things in place for the one world government of antichrist. Once you name the name of Christ you are subjected to ridicule. I just enjoy pointing out the biases and hypocrisy.

Those who know me well, know that I have given much in my time.

  25. @ Georgie Porgie

I know you are under attack and it really does not matter what I say, but I would like you to know I have no hate towards you; neither have I “ever” written anything adverse about you.

I can think of no one who has made as significant a contribution to BU ( Barbados Underground ) over as long a period as you have done.

    Please kindly note that
1 I dont think that you have hate towards me
2 I know that you have NEVER written anything adverse about me.

And I find that I have to agree with your comment for which I thank you, that …………”I can think of no one who has made as significant a contribution to BU ( Barbados Underground ) over as long a period as you have done.”

Thanks Sir. Coming from you, that is highly appreciated. THANKS AGAIN!

  27. @Yardbroom
If a friend makes a fool of his or herself they should be told about it. That is the right and proper thing to do. No one likes to be criticised , however that is part of learning too. It doesn’t have nothing to do with like or dislike for the person. However most of us get offended when the criticism doesn’t fit well with our way of thinking

  28. @GP

I agree with you YOU DON”T CARE! YOU DON”T CARE ! YOU DON’t CARE!
    So what’s the HILLABULOO! CONGRATULATIONS!

  29. Hi ac,
I have taken careful note of what you have written, however on this occasion I will only reflect on it.
    Love as always.

  30. Enough said on the subject.May God bless the P.M.

  31. @GP

I believe David(BU) explained to you earlier that even though political debates can get nasty withs insults and degrading remarks, but when it comes to sickness or death Barbadians usually put aside partisan warfare and show sympathyempathy towards those affected. Don’t be so cynical as to think that partisan politics makes Barbadians insensitive and callous towards the health and life of others who do not share the same political views.

  32. When we are told that we are wrong. We play the victim card and that is understandable most of us have gone there and done that. However what really gets to me is when theyplay the “Everybody is beating up on me card” as a way to intimidate others into feeling SORRY for them. Yes I say “SORRY ” For some people they are never wrong . It is always the other person .
Question :Why is it so hard for people to admit when they have made a mistake?
Answer: I guess it is easier for them to blame others.

  33. What this camouflaged fake-ass clown that calls himself a christian is failing to see is that his behaviour is completely contrary to the said bible teachings he lives by daily. How can a man/clown of God speak with such contempt for primeministers, presidents , popstars etc and then expect me, an unsaved criminal, to listen to anything he has to say. Dis man is a klown and he’s trying to shadow-box with the word ‘planted’ but he isn’t commenting on his ‘unchristian-like’ behaviour which has tongues wagging. That is the crux of the matter. He claims to be a man of God, then brags about ‘I don’t care about he, she or it”.Gimma a break do. What has the pop stars, presidents, PM’s etc done to stop him from making his millions that he has such a grudge against them? He seems to have a problem with persons who have a ‘dollar’ just like him. His bible speaks about grudgeful minded, envious, covetous people.A person behaving in this uncaring, morbid manner can’t ever get so drunk as to come telling me one word about the love of God because they would want ‘busing. Your heart is cold as ice. He keeps referring to person’s bad behaviour on BU, but again ,he fails to understand that he is the one who is always proclaiming to be a ‘holier than thou’, so he can’t lower himself to our level and carry on like a smut-lamp, like Bonny. He should be a shining example of what ‘humanity’ is all about.
‘BRIGHTEN THE CORNER WHERE YOU ARE’, ma brotha.

  34. ac
well said as usual. ya got ta sa anudda pray fa de man doe. de firs was de ‘bom’.

    Atman
If I was close to you right now, you would got ta beg me ta stop kissin you man. i would even kiss de mud outta you big toe. 🙂
YOu are correct. Illness has no colour, class or creed.
    Well said.

  35. @Bonny Peppa et al…

Please calm down… There is no need to get upset…

In fact, there is upside in remaining calm and controlled….

  36. @Chris Hasell

Upset Nobody is UPSET! what are you talking about!

  37. Chris
I am calm, cool and very tranquil but I just don’t like shoite man. I know that I carry on and get on bad at times and leggo my ‘pips’ but aside that I am a very caring, loving person and I don’t like to see or hear persons being treated with disdain unnecessarily. It tears me up inside man. I treat persons with respect regardless to their disposition/position in life. stupseeeeeeee, I gone man.

  38. @ac: “@Chris Hasell Upset Nobody is UPSET! what are you talking about!

I’m talking about nothing at all…

And some might believe what I have to say….

I see that you all are still carrying on.
Fortunately I have been in the ionterim on another platform with educated sober knowledgeable and appreciative people, who actually know me well, and hold me in very very high esteem.

You all can talk till the second coming. I have said what I have had to say. Committed no crime broken no laws. Quid dixi scripse, dixi scripsi que. And wunnah can say what wunnah like.We will wait and see and watch it happen because THE PM WILL BE PLANTED LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE! And Istill wont be worshipping any one. There is no need no worship anyone exceot God. Not politicians, pops stars, or sports stars or any person who folk idolize.

I am an ardent cricket fan, but I do not and have never idolized any of them— and they were not always making money. So carry on. GOD IS MY JUDGE.

I have defended my self with apomb and decorum. At no time have I cursed or descended into the gutter.

You folk need human heroes and mortals like yourself to relate to because you have yourselves failed to achieve.
When i make errors I say so. But when I know that I have done nothing wrong I will defend myself. My friends and associates dont worship anyone else but the Savior. They dont even talk about politics. They watch games too, but I dont here them hero worshipping . They are on a higher plane.

They discuss concepts and ideas not people. They discuss programs not people.

I am not interested in what David has said or what wunnah saying, you cant understand. I hear having fun, as I conduct a Psychology survey on the behavior revealed by you folk.

Just as Terrence bounces certain things here to get opinins for his papers. I have used the same ploy. …. and with great results

You have not dissapointed. You all are behaving as I expected . And the comments made by those who have commented are exactly those that I expected.

I am not at all insensitive and callous. I made a statement of fact that can not be refuted, and Michael and the Archangels can convince me otherwise.

    You guys are being hypocritical.

  45. when i make errors I say so.

Is that so! It is so hard to judge oneself . Let others be the judge!

My freinds and I are on a “Higher plane” meaning :my freinds and i are a bunch of intelluctual snobs.

  46. educated, sober, knowledgeable, appreciative people all headed for the same damnation, HELL. Such a pity. It could’ve been avoided if only they were more Godly and practised what they preached. So sad,so sad, so sadddddddddddddd. What a waste, what a waste, what a wasteeeeeeeee.

Jesus is all the world to me , my life my joy my all,
He is my strength, from day to day, without Him I would fall…….

(sing along with me my brothas n sistas in Christ. No, not de heathens)

  47. We can fool some of the people some of the time but we can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
    Psychology survey, my arse. stupseeeeeeeeeee
Still shadow-boxing wid bible in hand. It soon knock ya out. ouchhhhhhhhh.

‘none of you can help me in any way’
No man’s an island, no man stands alone, Klown.
    Continue shadow-boxing Cassius Clay.

  48. @Bonny

Well I had something more one on one in mind but I’m not against a group gathering.

  49. Ha ha ha…this person Georgie Porgie is quite a character…comes across as rather immature. Wonder how old he or she really is.

  50. Hi All

Just for my 2-cents worth…………… Although I do not see eye 2 eye with everything that Dr. GP says I will defend his right to say such ………unless what he says then encroaches on another’s rights & privileges or is inciting to violence etc, etc. And yes I can fully understand where he is coming from when he states……….Quote:- …”THE PM WILL BE PLANTED LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE! ” End quote.
What he is trying to convey to us is that he does not idolise any human being whether it be a PM, Prez, King, Queen, celebrity or whomsoever. It’s as simple as that!
Ease up on the man, nah!
