This mirrors the “THEOLOGICAL PARADOX” of a “GOD” who is both “TRANSCENDENT”, (so far removed from beyond us) & yet so immanently (CLOSER THAN OUR NEXT BREATH)!!!
I chose to take this “PIECE” as a conceptual framework of “3-DEGREES OF SEPARATION” & “DOUBLE THE MATRIX” to philosophically show the “ALMOST ASININE NATURE” of human relations, & why we are literally “DOOMED” to “FAILURE” on all levels – without a proper grasp of why we are here as human beings, (CREATED IN THE VERY IMAGE OF A POWERFUL GOD)!!!

Social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, provide people with a forum to express their opinions to solicit comments and ‘followers,’ irrespective of whether or not such opinions are accurate or plain rubbish.
I’ve watched videos posted by persons such as Sherri Veronica and Winston Clarke, in which their content is, more often than not, inaccurate.
How could a social activist work to promote socio-economic or environmental change through advocacy and organised efforts, for example, if his/her content is based primarily on what he/she believes to be true, rather that verifiable facts?
Unfortunately, many of the ‘followers’ are just as clueless as the ‘influencers.’ Questioning the accuracy of their comments is often met with abuse, and providing credible information with silence.
Watched a video by someone whose Instagram username is “the russell_michelle,” in which she was highlighting the plight of our Air Traffic Controllers, ‘being overworked and underpaid.’
She went on to say, “Guess what? The Air Traffic Controllers of Barbados are the LOWEST PAID in the region, even behind Haiti.”
That comment is a blatant untruth.
Simple research would’ve led her to read the Salary Scales listed in Appendix B on page 25 of the Schedules of Personal Emoluments.
An Air Traffic Control Officer Grade 1, at salary scale Z10-Z3, is paid an annual salary of $58,338.42 – $71,152.47, or $4,861.54 – $5,929.37 per month.
An Air Traffic Control Officer Grade 2 = Z16-Z11 = $48,782.10 – $56,685.27, or $4,065.18 – $4,723.77 per month.
Additionally, according to information I read, an ATC in Haiti earns between HTG 85,000 and HTG 92,000 per month, which, when converted to Barbados dollars, is approximately $1,306.84 and $1,414.45 per month.
The comments in response did not surprise me, because I know many Bajans do not actually try to verify the accuracy or authenticity of information or credibility of its source, preferring instead to prioritise emotion over facts, and comment based on sensationalism, rather than factual accuracy.
I commend the lady for bringing public awareness to the concerns of ATCs, but to misrepresent the truth, clearly indicates she did not bother to ascertain the correct information before rushing to make a video, which raises questions about her sincerity.
If she was acting with genuine concern, or merely performing to fulfill some unknown agenda.
