A Most Dangerous Secret

Candidates for political office normally identify problems in the constituency, and describe their capacity to address them.  All Candidates identified housing, roads, road repairs, transportation, drainage, and high unemployment as major problems in St George North.

These problems have persisted through repeated BLP and DLP administrations.  If those administrations were serious about addressing them, they would have assembled the following team of professionals, to quickly design and implement sustainable solutions.

1.       A Structural Engineer to strengthen weak houses.

2.       A Highway Engineer to properly repair roads and address transportation issues.

3.       An Environmental Engineer to improve drainage and sewerage problems.

4.       A Land-use Planner to address residents living in ground water restricted areas.

5.       An Adjudicator to address home-owner disputes with building contractors.

6.       A Trainer to facilitate business start-ups.

7.       An Educator to finish secondary school graduates to become responsible adults.

8.       Project Manager to make sure that all of the projects are completed safely, timely, economically, and to a high quality.

A MIRACLE.

By some miraculous coincidence, I happen to be highly qualified in every one of these disciplines, that St George North desperately needs at this time.  Yet, whenever I mention my qualifications, I am accused of self-promotion, and they are not published.

Are all Candidates not competing for the same privilege of serving the people of St George North?  Don’t voters have a right to know the qualifications of all Candidates, to help them decide with whom to trust their concerns over the next 30 months?  Does keeping my qualifications an unpublished secret, not unfairly raise doubt about my capacity to implement our plans?

A RIGHT TO KNOW.

Why are voters allowed to know all about Toni’s experience as a trade unionist, but are not allowed to know that I am a: chartered structural engineer, chartered highway engineer, environmental engineer, project manager, planner, and chartered arbitrator?

Why are voters allowed to know about Ambrose’s qualifications as a banker and consultant, but are not allowed to know that I have earned: two Bachelors degrees in mathematics and civil engineering, two Masters degrees in environmental engineering and planning, and am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Structural Engineering?

Why are voters allowed to know all about David’s experience as a teacher and farmer, but are not allowed to know that I am a: musician, singer, composer, inventor, author, publisher, teacher, and the President of Walbrent College, which is a regional institution specialising in construction?

Why are voters allowed to know all about Floyd’s experience as a cricketer and coach in various countries, but are not allowed to know that I have worked in: Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Panama, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, and Turks & Caicos Islands, to improve the built environment for their residents?

Why are voters allowed to know of Alex’s 20 years in the US marine corps, but are not allowed to know that I have 30 years in the construction industry, am the 2014 winner of the National Innovation Competition, and received the Visionary award from the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries.

The wall of media silence about my qualifications has finally cracked.  For the first time since 2015 when I founded Solutions Barbados, I was able to mention some of them without them being edited out.  In response, those tasked with keeping this dangerous information secret are in full attack mode.  But I cannot be intimidated, because I am not ashamed of my qualifications to represent the people of St George North.

Grenville Phillips II is a Chartered Structural Engineer, and the Solutions Barbados’ candidate for St George North.  He can be reached at NextParty246@gmail.com

  1. Sigh…
Okay, we get it; Grenville Phillips II is brilliant and competent. Probably over-qualified too, but good luck with that.

One thing for sure though; even with all those qualifications and pedigree, he apparently still doesn’t have a clue.

  2. Why is it that Italians are free to try Ozone therapy against Covid-19 in their medical facilities but Bajan MDs (like many MDs the world over) are content to practice their version of profit-driven medicine only from within the restraints of a Big-Pharma imposed chokehold/headlock – AKA Rockefeller Medicine.

WITH OZONE WE EMPTY HOSPITALS AND AVOID LOCKDOWN

For twenty years, of which seventeen at the Spallanzani Hospital, Dr. David worked in a hospital setting. As a territorial medical director at the Prevention Department of the ASL Roma D, he also dealt with the prophylaxis of infectious diseases.

He has known and practiced ozone therapy for years, is a member of the board of the Scientific Society of Oxygen Ozone Therapy (SIOOT), has published several studies and carries out teaching and medical training.

    Interviewed by “Orbisphera” he explained:

“In April, all national newspapers reported the news that, thanks to the oxygen-ozone therapy applied in the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine, out of 36 Covid patients undergoing this treatment, only one was hospitalized in intensive care.

Even better results were obtained on 100 Covid patients hospitalized in 15 Italian hospitals who were treated with the treatment protocol developed by the SIOOT (Scientific Society of Oxygen Ozone Therapy). All serious patients, including those intubated, treated with ozone therapy, are completely cured and the only losses occurred in patients whose comorbidities were too advanced. There are patients who were dying and oxygen ozone therapy saved their life in extremis …

Based on these results, well documented also by the international scientific press, it can be said with certainty that, by treating all Covid patients with ozone therapy and also the positives in preventive isolation at home, it would be possible to radically reduce the circulating virus. , creating an articulated system to decongest hospitals, first aid and Covid wards.

  3. The man is obsessed with his qualifications. Most people are proud of theirs, but not obsessive. Good luck to him, but what is so special about being a structural engineer?

  4. Green Monkey….easy answer, none of them are intelligent, the marijuana business is a bust on the island and will never go anywhere, why, because they don’t want it in the hands of Black people, yes, the black faces would much prefer the people DIE FROM CHRONIC ILLNESSES rather than to see them benefit in any way from the plant, whether medically or financially from the trade….they must only be criminalized and locked up for marijuana..

that’s the low class intellect that they’ll never be able to rid themselves of…..they are cursed, they prefer the big pharma opiods poison the people than to make any changes where they can’t collect their cut and bribes…they’re truly an embarrassment and a living blight on the earth, especially since it’s the same Black population whose taxes educated these nobodies for the last 60 years..

  5. Man stop whining
Some less scholarly people made great strides in helping their countries and those who were well.educated did not wear their qualifications on their sleeves as badge of honours
What u ought to be doing is stepping up with a boldness to put country first instead of your own self attempting to draw self into a debate of being more educated than the other candidates
Such focus on self put u in a category of totting your own horn coming out of barbadian elite circles
    Be humble

Why not call yourself simply Lord High Polymath of Bimshire?

Given your inexhaustible list of ‘Christian-minded’ talents can’t you just simply help the people of SGN outside of Parliament?

Since you are not a lawyer (yet) why do you then want to become one of the lowest of scum in the pantheon of white-collar criminals called a lying politician?

You have omitted a most crucial element from your skillset as the Bajan Christian Renaissance Man.

You ability to control Bajans in their porn watching.

BTW, what is SB’s ‘moral’ position on same-sex relationships?

What are the qualifications for being a good representative of a constituency again ? We have a tendency on this blog to lose focus. What is representation? Surely not all professional skills nor all job experiences are relevant. Communication skills. A proclivity to listen to ones constituents is another. A reputation for getting things done is paramount.. I am sure all the candidates who offer themselves for election have these qualities in varying degrees. I have no doubt that the electorate has already made their assessments of the candidates.

Being human, I believe I have omitted other crucial requirements for being a member of the HoA. Other bloggers can expand the list. Candidates must bear in mind that they are not technocrats but politicians. They are too many politicians already interfering in matters above and below their job descrcriptions.

Vincent, I think that you can stop there. Those are the essentials. The other skills are being able to negotiate on behalf of your people, also being able to refuse the impossible, without vexing people. But those may be part of ‘getting things done”.

You further said ” I am sure all the candidates who offer themselves for election have these qualities in varying degrees” Varying degrees, indeed.

You are right, that being a technocrat is unnecessary. The person who gets things moving and pulls everyone together for the common good is the real leader.

As for Grenville, I think that he has a lot to offer, but as a consultant to keep things on track and call out the issues.

Clearly talented, but he was not outstanding in the debate, which demonstrated inexperience in the public forum. Also, realistically, in bajan politics, he does not have a strain of pitbull. I say realistically, but maybe that should say sadly.

He was gracious to both Toni Moore and Alex Mitchell. As a gentleman should be.

    But do gentlemen inhabit politics?

  10. GPII’s problem is that he has been unable to craft a narrative built on his quals and experience that resonates with constituents. Instead GPII wasted time on ISO, a no-tax economic plan, Nelson, referenda and other irrelevant topics. Ego is a MF.

  13. This is how the taxpayers GET RIPPED OFF all the time, creating laws to violate the people’s human rights, discriminating agains the people, then paying crooked lawyers to fight against the people MISUSING the PEOPLE’S MONEY…..

“Barbados Government Hires Three To Fight One Rastaman
AUTHOR:ADMIN PUBLISHED DATE:NOVEMBER 4, 2020 LEAVE A COMMENTON BARBADOS GOVERNMENT HIRES THREE TO FIGHT ONE RASTAMAN
The office of the Attorney General in Barbados has notified legal council for Mr. Paul Rock, also known as Ras Simba, that they will be represented by three lawyers. Two of those lawyers are Queen’s Councils (QC). They are QC Leslie Haynes, the father of Prime Minister Mia Mottley, QC Elliott Mottley and Marsha Lockheed.

Ras Simba is making a constitutional challenge to have his home considered a place of worship, and to have that reflected in the Sacrament Cannabis Act. This would make it legal for him and all Rastafari to cultivate cannabis in the privacy of their homes for their spiritual uses. He is also challenging the law that prohibits the possession, use and cultivation of cannabis for private adult use within the homes of Barbadians.”

But unlike Italy, our QEH has never been full with covid patients, in fact there have been zero covid patients at the qeh.

Italy has had 658 covid19 deaths per million people. Barbados has had 24 covid19 deaths per million people
So perhaps Italy can learn from Barbados and not the other way around.

It is not true to see that Bajan doctors are profiting from covid. They are getting their regular salaries and that’s all.

Barbados’ ;lockdown started on March 28 and ended on May 17, that is five and a half months ago.

Italy’s lockdown was much longer and much more severe than Barbados’ so i don’t understand what it is we want us to learn from Italy.

  15. @WURA-War-on-U November 3, 2020 5:39 AM “…opiods poison the people…”

You mixing up Barbados with the United States? I get around a fair bit, and I am not aware of any opiod crisis in Barbados.

  16. “You mixing up Barbados with the United States? ”

No am not, if you are not closely aligned to any doctors on the island and are not one yaself…HOW WILL YA KNOW…i’ve never seen it addressed publicly, like most things in Barbados, and knowing the greedy in the parliament, they will immediately COVER THAT UP…but it does exist, on a tiny scale, but it exists…if 10 people in Barbados have opiod poisoning or adverse effects, how are you going to know…they are not going to call you up and say Cuddear, someone just had opiod poisoning…….

….remember ya did not know that US citizens have been deported for decades on end and ya more than likely visited or lived in US a few times…..well same thing, most things are hidden from the public in Barbados as well, as you WELL KNOW..

  17. IGNORANT, pedi-GREED fake leaders, in the REAL WORLD, not slave society Barbados.. the AVERAGE persons are the ones controlling the trade…..VOTE THESE LIARS. TRAITORS AND FRAUDS ALL OUT…..29-0.

    “Ras Small
As Agriculture Minister Indar Weir said to Barbadians recently, “de business of cannabis/marijuana ISN’T for the average person”

  18. For all those campaigning for the legalising of cannabis, the question is: who will benefit? It may suit the narrative to claim that Rastas will have free use for religious purposes, and young users will not be criminalised for possession of small amounts of illegal drugs.
But the big question is always who will benefit most from this policy change? Common sense tells us if the sale of some drugs is ‘approved’, then the big corporations will see its sale as a legitimate activity. Back street dealers who believe, erroneously, that they will be able to set up shop, are living in cloud cuckoo land.

  19. Cuhdear BajanNovember 4, 2020 9:00 PM

Maybe not opioids, but crystal meth is in Barbados and manufactured, as it is easy to access the raw ingredients.

Plus, many qualified chemists in Barbados, some not paid well.

  20. Who has marijuana trading benefitted in UK…who have been exporting it for DECADES…TRADING IN IT FOR CENTURIES and only criminalize it with Black people as the target…. WHEN IT SUITS THEM…financially..

  21. “Maybe not opioids.”

yes opiods, take it from someone who had to take them for chronic pain for years on end until i said NO MORE…and used the natural pain killer created for us WHICH WORKED IN 2 YEARS to significantly reduce pain…….big pharma medication is pure poison, not that some don’t work for extreme cases…BUT PURE POISON NONETHELESS.

” but crystal meth is in Barbados and manufactured.”

has anyone checked out the Coverly meth labs…lol

  22. Good morning Barbados.
    Have a great day Barbados.

Though sincere, this overseas Bajan does not feel he is contributing by just extending well wishes.

“Lawyers want a careful examination of the proposal for judge-only criminal trials.

The Barbados Bar Association (BBA) reacted yesterday to Attorney General Dale Marshall’s proposal stating that while it was not “absolutely opposed” to it there should be consultation.

“The BBA wishes to sound a note of caution. The introduction of such provisions ought not be reactionary, but rather the BBA calls for a consultative approach, with more analysis and study of judge only trials before such legislation is presented. In particular, the BBA would wish to ensure that the provisions are properly suited to the context and resources in Barbados,” it said.

The BBA called for an evidence-based approach to the proposal including research from other Commonwealth jurisdictions, and giving consideration to the questions of whether there should be a single judge, a panel of judges, or a hybrid panel of a judge with two lay persons.”

As it currently stands that piece of legislation can be deemed as ‘Unconstitutional’.

The same way the government cannot discriminate against people because of their religious persuasion so too the same government cannot grant special treatment or privileges to any religious group while criminalizing other groups or individuals for engaging in the same activity.

“The rule according to a higher law is a statement which expresses that no law may be enforced by the government unless it conforms with certain universal principles (written or unwritten) of fairness, morality, and justice.”

  28. “As it currently stands that piece of legislation can be deemed as ‘Unconstitutional’.”

VIOLATING BLACK HUMAN RIGHTS..as is their decades of practice because they have not yet been brought up on human rights violation charges anywhere YET ..

..and then USE TAXPAYERS money to pay lawyers WHOM THEY CHOSE in their cabal to prolong a worthless, fraud case in the corrupt supreme court for 20 years or more, which should never have been contested by government whose only goal is …sucking the treasury DRY..

they are well aware that a precedent for that very case, has ALREADY RECENTLY BEEN SET IN SOUTH AFRICA, and St. Kitts if i remember correctly, but they are too focused on making taxpayer’s pay them to talk shite in useless supreme court….

that case needs to be put forth before a human rights TRIBUNAL in the world court….seeing as these scum are intent on violating black people’s rights at every turn and FORCE TAXPAYERS to pay lawyers for it..

  29. So what’s new, another RIPP OFF of the treasury in deliberate cost overuns….

“Moreover, President of the Barbados Association of Professional Engineers (BAPR) Trevor Browne said due to a “flawed” implementation strategy of the project, which started a week ago, it was likely to exceed the estimated cost and go longer than the planned December end date”

    pedigreed politicians…

  33. Miller…this is what they do when you REFUSE to conform to their ugly, evil racist slave society in Barbados that now the world knows about and is watching….this is all on the haunted house negros, no one else, everyone else is easing restrictions on marijuana to reverse the suppression of Black people, but not the deceitful liars in the haunted house…..they are misusing taxpayers money as usual, to see how much more they can exploit, oppress and repress for their own benefit…they have no shame.

“This historical case for the recognition of the constitutional, human and may we say moral rights of Rastafari as mentioned previously, commenced last Thursday. The case is being tried by Justice Weekes, who chose to lock the public out of her court room for these proceedings which were held online.

Lead council for the Attorney General, who was not present, but had a representative present, was absent for the initial proceedings of this case. QC Leslie Haynes for the Attorney General was also not present. QC Elliott Motley was present for the Attorney General’s legal team. Due to the absence of the two afore mentioned legal representatives for the Attorney General, the case was adjourned until February 5th. At that time all documentation for consideration by the judge must be entered. Following the submission of these documents by both sides, a trial date will be given by the judge.

    Justice Weekes

When asked about the possibility of loosing and having to pay the governments legal team, Ras Simba said he and his legal team will take the matter to the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) if needs be. He went on to say, ” I am a financially poor Rastaman fighting for the legal recognition of essential components of my African based spirituality. If at the end of it all I have to pay the governments legal team, they will just have to lock me up forever because I cannot pay such a price. At this point I am all in, it is all or nothing”.

Ras Simba’s legal team is growing as conscientious lawyers freely offer their services in representation of the defense of the human, constitutional, and as we said before, moral rights of Rastafari.

Cannabis Barbados continues to support the efforts of Ras Simba (Masimba) to deliver justice for himself and his community.

It must be noted that while Ras Simba could have just fought for himself and community, he said that taking the example of Haile Selassie, who championed security for all nations of the world when his country Ethiopia was under attack from Italy, he also fights for the right of all adult Barbadians to have access to the plant in the privacy of their homes.”

  34. A pity Koochie Koo and the other youngers in the region have to learn the HARD WAY how dirty and retrograde these types of organizations with blanket immunity from corrupt governments really are, now they see the intent was to PUSH BACK the progress of the young in the Caribbean 30 or 40 years….it has always been a ripp off scam to steal their enfranchisement…,,a month and a half is 6 weeks, just as long as it took to cock up the kids grades….and still no resolution, no truthful explanation, or apology.

“More questions for CXC – by Kareem Smith November 6, 2020
Concern is once again being raised about the deafening silence from the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) on a promised remarking of this year’s exam scripts, which were supposed to be completed more than a week ago.

The recourse promised by the examining body after an Independent Review of this year’s controversial sittings was expected to be the first step in allaying the “angst, heartache, and material dislocation”.

However, student advocate Khaleel Kothdiwala says that so far, he has heard no reports of reviews that were returned to any Barbadian students. He therefore concluded that if there were any, the numbers have been “remarkably few”.

“Students and parents always felt the one-week promise was ambitious at best and thus, all reasonable persons would be willing to work with CXC as they try to work their way through many requests for reviews and queries. However, parents and students can only be understanding of CXC’s position if the council is willing to communicate with us,” the Queen’s College student told Barbados TODAY.

“Neither CXC nor the Ministry of Education has released to the public the number of requests submitted and received, and CXC has not announced how many have been successfully processed. Considering that Friday marks the deadline for submission of requests for reviews, one would hope that next week would see the return of reviews, as well as improved communication from CXC,’’ he added.

Friday also marks a month and a half since the initial CXC results were released, and subsequently challenged by numerous students, parents, and teachers as erroneous. Questions were also raised about the method used to arrive at the final School Based Assessment (SBA) grades under a new system of moderation, as well as a new system used to tabulate the final grades after the removal of the ‘paper two’ component of the exam.

Amid the controversy, CXC Chairman Professor Sir Hilary Beckles assembled an Independent Review Team (IRT), which settled on several conclusions, including the acceptance that a remark of the exam scripts was justified.

However, nearly three weeks later, it is still unclear exactly who has been contracted to re-mark the exams.

“These cannot be the same individuals who were responsible for moderating originally, as one cannot ask persons to review themselves. CXC must tell students and parents the qualifications of those remarking reviews and whether the qualification bar has been raised to the previous level, requiring persons to have a current knowledge of the school environment,” argued Kothdiwala.

“In sum, students demand that which they are rightfully entitled to – basic information on the process that will determine their academic futures. The point has been made time and again, that too much time has passed and too much dislocation and disruption have occurred. In view of this, we appeal, once again, to CXC to do right by the region’s students, and in the meantime, communicate with us. We deserve nothing less!” the student advocate added.

Meanwhile, Lead Committee Spokesperson and Coordinator of the Group of Concerned Parents of Barbados Paula-Anne Moore, the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU) President Mary Redman, and her counterpart in the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) Pedro Shepherd have all promised responses to the extended saga.”

  35. @ WURA-War-on-U November 7, 2020 5:38 AM

The government knows that a major Constitutional faux pas has been committed by enacting that blatantly discriminatory piece of legislation.

All it is doing is putting money in certain ‘lawyering’ people’s pockets at the taxpayers’ expense just like the Stuart administration did with its cronies.

Now how did ‘we’ get to be so incestuously brazen????

In a secular democratic country the executive arm of the State just cannot discriminate against or act in favour of any individual or group because of any religious persuasion.

The case Ras Simba is arguing is similar to what pertained in the landmark case of Brown Versus the Board of Education way back in the early 1950’s.

Just substitute religious persuasion for race or skin colour.

Would the local Muslims be allowed to import and use hashish in their mosques?

  36. “Now how did ‘we’ get to be so incestuously brazen????”

insultingly disrespectful of black people…whose votes they need to be reelected,,,ticktock

“The case Ras Simba is arguing is similar to what pertained in the landmark case of Brown Versus the Board of Education way back in the early 1950’s.”

we did warn them about that 1950s style of governance, that’s why the case should be taken to the world court…just for their arrogance..

“Would the local Muslims be allowed to import and use hashish in their mosques?”

who says they don’t, no one stops them from using and trading in the same marijuana, so who is going to stop them from hashish, certainly not the haunted house negros….who only criminalize and lock up Black people.

that’s where i draw the line at giving advice about what they should do….to end the nightmare of oppression, racism and exploitation of the BLACK MAJORITY IN THEIR COUNTRY….their pissy little yardfowls have been too damn disrespectful of Black people’s intelligence, they are now on their own, let the people have a GO AT THEIR ASSES until they LEARN what to do..

with ONE CAVEAT…only if they clean up that dangerously corrupt supreme court AND stop violating THE RIGHTS OF THE ELDERLY in land cases and personal injury cases…any cases where the elderly and helpless people CAN’T FIGHT BACK…then i will even consider giving away ADVICE FOR FREE…am not a CON-sultant or tiefing mooching minority, OR A HANGERON, OR a parasitic yardfowl so wont need any money…call it a public service..
