2020 US Presidential Election

If the late great Gladston Holder were alive he would take the opportunity to remind us that it does not matter who is elected to the White House, it the wealthiest families in the USA where the power is located- the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers et al. That said many will agree party colours aside, Trump’s legacy will be remembered as being one of the most bigoted and divisive.

Let it be no secret this blogmaster cannot wait to see the back of the man. He has disgraced the office of president of the USA and by extension the human race.

President Trump — who insisted when the coronavirus first emerged that it would not be a threat in the United States — spent months playing down the effectiveness of masks, initially refused to be photographed with one on and this week mocked former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. for wearing one.

He has softened his tone on masks and has been seen wearing one with a presidential seal, and in the summer he began encouraging Americans to wear them. But even his endorsements of masks — which health officials say are a key way to slow the spread of the virus — have come with caveats that have muddled the message.”

  • I believe he promoted using bleach before he started wearing a mask.

Let me change my question slightly. Given your beliefs do you wear a mask?

“He’d heard the president blithely suggest disinfectants, UV light, and hydroxychloroquine as potential COVID treatments during White House briefings in April. The veteran Centers for Disease Control (CDC) epidemiologist began wondering how Trump’s many scientifically unsupported pronouncements might be influencing public behavior, particularly with admirers. He was especially intrigued about the wearing of face masks because of how regularly the president questioned their efficacy and mocked those who wore them, despite that both the CDC and World Health Organization have urged their universal use.

“While I know there’s no direct evidence of how many people act in response to his statements, I wanted to try and quantify this,” said Hahn, who published his estimates in a new paper in the International Journal of Health Sciences.

Hahn estimates that as many as 12,000 COVID-related deaths can be attributed to Trump’s negative or false assertions about face masks, but he readily acknowledges that his results hinge on sets of assumptions of how much influence the president’s comments had on mask-wearing behavior.”

I’ve read where BU’s Trump supporters are relying on affidavits from witnesses to help Trump build his case there was electoral fraud. Perhaps you should warn them, (as I attempted to do, when they mentioned the post office whistleblower, whose ‘testimony’ was later proven to be untrue), that affidavits have to be examined and cross examined in Court.

I read the Trump campaign went to a Court in Arizona hoping to stop the certification of the election results. One of Trump’s lawyers solicited sworn affidavits from witnesses, some of which he subsequently admitted were false, or to use his word, “spam.” He excluded the affidavits he proved were false and submitted to the Court, the one he could not prove were true.

The Judge told the lawyer the process he used for obtaining the affidavits yielded affidavits that he admitted were false, does not support a finding the process generated reliable evidence.

How is that a reliable process of gathering evidence, if the process they used for gathering declarations that yielded sworn statements made under oath, which their investigations determined were false? This wouldn’t give the Judge any reason to believe their process was one that generated trustworthy affidavits, only affidavits they can’t prove are not true, which is not the same thing as trustworthiness.

Might not have been for all the states but has to have been used in some. There is talk going around about election insurance policies being sold to both Democrats and Republicans but seems to have mostly been Democrats.

How ’bout the primary in 2016 where Hilary beat Bernie?

Rumor now going around is Bernie did win that primary, somebody gave him the goods on what went down and he got one of his new houses out of the whole thing.

@Theo, EXCELLENT simple and powerful FACTUAL rebuttal . At the start of this administration there was a curious and strange debate about calling Trump’s fabrications lies or ‘lack of knowledge’ misstatements … folks who wanted to be decent and debate with respect opted to treat it as misspeak!

Those days are long gone. John Fellow is a LIAR… an unapologetic, ‘laugh in your face’ LIAR as is his idol.

@Donna showed it above and has repeatedly over time and so did you … @Lyall, Sargeant and Artax in particular have also shown that he is a LIAR …. so enough of being decent and decorous. The man has thrown his lot into the gutter of LIES and DECEPTION to suit his agenda.

Thus he and they are LIARS: “a person who knowingly utters falsehood; one who deceives by false report or [mis]representation.”

    I gone.

BTW, @Artax, you are doing an awesome job of showing up his and they BS so not much for mentoring add… I’ll say just this.

It is ASINE to conflate alleged fraud on the award of a contract with fraud in the actual USE of said contract purchase product. That’s the analogy of saying: (A) that land, let’s say in Kingsland, was sold under a sweet heart bribery deal between parties and then (B) the alleged bribery suspected land buyer committed another alleged bit of malfeasance – let’s say cheated on payment of the land taxes years on.

What does A have to do with B … or what does the seller in A have to do with the actions of B re non payment of taxes … what would Dominion’s alleged fraudulent sale have to do with any ALLEGED vote rigging by state officials. during the election.

And this guy calls himself logical … BS knows no boundaries when steeped in ideological nonsense. STEEUPSE!

    https://aapsonline.org/a-tale-of-two-drugs-money-vs-medical-wisdom/

Vitamin D is called the sunshine vitamin because your skin uses direct UV radiation from the sun to make it. The vitamin is very important to regulate the immune system’s response so it is not too aggressive or too tame. The darker your skin, the harder it is to make it and COVID complications are caused by the cytokine storm which a fancy term for an disregulated immune system.

The virus does not kill you, it is long dead or nearly dead by the time you go into ICU but the immune system has gone into overdrive clearing all the viral debris and vitamin D and C helps get it back under control.

Black people and hispanics have darker skin so in the higher north they go the weaker the UV from the sun gets and the less vitamin D is produced and they become deficient and more susceptible to cold, flu and coronaviruses. That is the real cause of the flu season inadequate levels of vitamin D and C. All doctors know that but they will never tell you that.

The president’s legal team was thrown into tumult Sunday when two Trump attorneys — Rudolph W. Giuliani and Jenna Ellis — released a statement abruptly distancing the campaign from a third attorney, Sidney Powell.

Giuliani, Ellis and Powell all appeared together at a news conference Thursday, when they made a range of baseless accusations about the integrity of the election. Powell, in particular, has lobbed some of the most convoluted claims, alleging a conspiracy that involved “communist money,” the late Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez and an algorithm favoring Democrats.

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own,” Giuliani and Ellis said in their statement Sunday. “She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”

Two advisers to Trump, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations, said that the president disliked the coverage Powell was receiving from Fox News host Tucker Carlson and others and that several allies had reached out to say she had gone too far. The advisers also said she fought with Giuliani and others in recent days.

“She was too crazy even for the president,” a campaign official said.

Apparently, the Trump campaign subsequently ‘had a change of heart’ and “distanced itself from Sidney Powell, a lawyer who claimed at a news conference last week that electronic voting systems had switched millions of ballots to President-elect Joe Biden.”

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own,” Trump campaign lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis said in a statement. “She is NOT a member of the Trump Legal Team.”

Sydney ISN’T a MEMBER of Trump legal team???? How could Rudy et al leave Sidney out to dry?

Tucker Carlson has apparently ‘jumped ship’ as well. And, you know when that happens, things looking dread for Trump.

“Tucker Carlson, an influential Fox News host, on Thursday criticized Powell for a lack of evidence to support her claims.”

“She never demonstrated that a single actual vote was moved illegitimately by software from one candidate to another. Not one,” Carlson said”.”

Why specifically add on “in his personal capacity”. Lawyers don’t release press statements unless they vet it properly. To me, she is still involved but not in the way we think.

She has also done work for the DOJ in some capacity based on her Wikipedia page so I am inclined to believe it was some DOJ partial collaboration with the Trump Campaign Legal team. DOJ has to have launched some sort of investigation and you don’t know until they start arresting people.

I was about to ‘tell’ David you probably meant Powell is working for the US Justice Department.

However, how do you explain Trump’s tweet on November 20, 2020 re: “I look forward to Mayor Giuliani spearheading the legal effort to defend OUR RIGHT to FREE and FAIR ELECTIONS! Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives!”

It has also been reported that the statement you’ve alluded to, came a day AFTER a judge dismissed the campaign’s lawsuit seeking to halt President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania.

The fact that Giuliani and the other lawyers mentioned are representing Trump’s campaign or Trump in his personal capacity, suggests this is a private matter. I’m sure you’re aware of the independence of the Justice Department, which is responsible for conducting investigations without influence of the White House.

How do you explain Powell working for the Justice Department in a matter involving Trump the citizen, who is also president? In other words, you’re essentially suggesting Trump used his personal lawyers and Powell to influence the Justice Department into filing a court case on his behalf.

  • This is what I long suspected in these challenges now the NYT can see through the camouflage
    +++++++++++++++++
In Pennsylvania, President Trump and Republicans loyal to him have sought to overturn his defeat by making false claims about widespread voting fraud in Philadelphia.

In Georgia, they have sought to reverse his loss by leveling similar accusations against Atlanta.
In Michigan, Republicans have zeroed in on Detroit, whose elections system the president has falsely portrayed as so flawed that its entire vote should be thrown out.

Lost on no one in those cities is what they have in common: large populations of Black voters.
And there is little ambiguity in the way Mr. Trump and his allies are falsely depicting them as bastions of corruption.
“‘Democrat-led city’ — that’s code for Black,” said the Rev. William J. Barber II, the president of the civil rights group Repairers of the Breach. “They’re coupling ‘city’ and ‘fraud,’ and those two words have been used throughout the years. This is an old playbook being used in the modern time, and people should be aware of that.”

Mr. Trump’s fruitless and pyromaniacal campaign to somehow reverse President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory in the election rests on the wholesale disenfranchisement of hundreds of thousands of voters, a disproportionate number of them Black Americans living in the urban centers of Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.
Notably absent from the effort has been any focus on predominantly white suburban areas where the president performed better, but where he lost ground compared with four years ago and arguably lost the election.
The campaign is not Mr. Trump’s alone. He has had help from supporters and allies throughout the country, as well as from the Republican National Committee and its state branches.

And, in a year in which the nation elected its first Black vice president, Senator Kamala Harris of California, the push represents a newly conspicuous phase of a decades-long effort by the Republican Party to expand power through the suppression of voters of color. Those voters have largely remained loyal to the Democrats while Republicans consistently win the white vote.
Over the past several years, that Republican effort has consisted mostly of new state and local election laws that, in the name of combating fraud, have restricted voting in ways that often place a disproportionate burden on Black and Latino voters. Civil rights leaders and Democrats have cited these laws as not-so-subtle efforts at voter suppression, and, in several court cases, judges have agreed.

  • Candidate Trump can’t intervene with evidence only POTUS would know.

If it were the other way and Candidate Biden was claiming fraud perpetrated by the Republicans, POTUS would have to intervene if evidence existed even although Candidate Trump held the office of POTUS.

The holder of the office of POTUS is sworn to uphold the constitution.

My guess is Sydney Powell is acting for POTUS and POTUS is acting to uphold the constitution.

As such, strictly speaking, she is still on the President’s team, even though she is not acting for Trump and is not, also strictly speaking, on the “President’s” team.!!

Any body who communicates with ANTIFA gets their communication recorded!!

So when the claim is made that the boss at Dominion was overheard saying to ANTIFA what is claimed, there is one way that such a claim could be made.

I’ll explain by way of example.

Suppose there were two candidates, neither of which was the incumbent, say like 2016, Hilary and Trump!

    POTUS was held by Obama.

Neither Candidate Trump nor Candidate Hilary should have as much knowledge of election fraud as POTUS would.

POTUS has the FBI, CIA, NSA etc etc etc at his disposal.

It was the responsibility of POTUS to intervene if POTUS had knowledge of election fraud.

Rather, as time has progressed. POTUS, in the hands of OBAMA, appears to have favoured Candidate Hilary.

Now we see why the FBI’s involvement in the Russian Collusion Hoax was and is so utterly vile.

Candidate Trump also happens to hold the office of POTUS.

He is under a higher responsibility to act without favor.

Candidate Trump can’t all of a sudden produce TOP SECRET data which only POTUS would know.

That would be an abuse of the office.

I am not sure if that seems logical to you, in the real world it is not. Ignore the 2016 situation where neither candidate was POTUS. Plse explain in simple terms, I am not a Barbados scholar and knows nothing about logic, how as POTUS and commander in chief, how the POTUS can be informed of an alleged fraud by his security apparatus, and at the same time keeps that information from the candidate?
More importantly, explain the constitutionality of such information sharing. Here is a hypothetical case: POTUS is informed that there will be an attempt on candidate A’s life and that of his wife and, it so happens, candidate A is also POTUS.
What legal use can POTUS make of that information?

Respect is earned not given. Any respect that slaver had, he threw by the wayside. No black person in Barbados should respect a slaver who yearns for the old days. It is enough that he and his ilk are living off the wealth accumulated from centuries of enslaving black Bajans.

Obviously Candidate Trump and POTUS are the same persons so each knows what the other knows, nothing abstruse about that.

But Candidate Trump can’t act as POTUS can.

The legal cases have Candidate Trump as plaintiff, not POTUS!!

You don’t need to be a Barbados Scholar to figure that out.

  • Now here is the real question to be asked.

Should POTUS have informed Candidate Biden’s campaign of its knowledge?

I suspect the answer will be found in the Executive Order POTUS signed into effect in 2018 declaring a National Emergency regarding election interference.

Would need to read it with a fine tooth comb but don’t have the time.

    You mean FLOTUS!!

Should POTUS intervene to protect FLOTUS?

    Of course.

The real question is what should POTUS do if he has information of a plot to kill Candidate B?

    Obviously intervene!!

Part of having fun with you is that when you are lost you do not admit it. Often you just ask yourself the question you want to answer. You are only a plaintiff if there is legal action. Asking what is the legality of an action and taking legal action are two different things.
What are the legal limitations on any action that Candidate A can take? I am not sure where candidate Biden comes from? Plse re-read the original question.
By the way, I have a very low opinion of the existing Barbados Scholarship system. We have wasted taxpayers’ money in this scandalous system for over 100 years.
