They took NO MONEY from the US government and instead ploughed $2 billion of their own funds into the R&D, partnering with a German company BioNtech. They did however sign a contract with the US government to supply 100 million doses of the vaccine if successful for $1.9 billion. Pence this morning claimed ownership and was soundly rebuked by Kathrin Jansen, a woman, who is head of vaccine R&D at Pfizer and who never met with the man.
