I am inclined to say that not much leaders, including Barrack Obama, are as impressive in their oratorical deliveries as Mia Mottley. No stuttering for words, no long pauses and no lack of vocabulary to bring clarity to a point even if muted in a bit of superfluity. Be that as it may, what impressed the SSS, even more, is the fact that Mottley with her level of intellect and expounding ability have placed Barbados in a position of international recognition and ”varied interests,” far beyond any leader that went before her. I say that because our CEO was taken aback by the interviewing skills of this woman to the point that he even listened to her UN speech with mouth open and eyes affixed. He is placing Barbados in the log as a country of business interest. He is even impressed that a small island with so few people are holding its own high up the ladder of countries with the best educational systems. (hmmm). So the SSS decided to put that out there because as much as she does not like Mottley when credit is due, criticism is totally uncalled for.

What I will say is that after enduring a lot of negative talk about Barbados under the last stupid administration, it was refreshing to hear people talk nice about Barbados because of Mottley’s ability to speak well. I am no hypocrite. All you’ll know I call it for what it is, but when it is good, no matter how roúgee the person or persons maybe, I have to say it is good and impressive.

The era that I am currently living in is one that I, unfortunately, do not look back at the dead. What they did, how they did it, and how much influence they may have is no longer a concern of mine. What Barrow was and what Tom represented were ‘ramparts’ during their tenures in office. That is the past and time has placed them respectively in the annuls of history. If they could attract the same interest in journalistic giants like Amanpour, we will never know. Their time was their time. What I know is that Mottley has attracted a giant media house’s interest and by her own making, Barbados is advertised for all to hear and see. For me, that is a plus because anything that can progress Barbados and make it better, the SSS is all for it, even if involves someone that she just does not like.

Amanpour is reputable for interviewing major leaders on the world stage. Mottley’s oratorical skills are one of the reasons Amanpour was interested in interviewing Mottley. It is also one of the reasons why Jim Acosta sought showed interest in Mottley after her speech at the UN.

It is folks like Piece and Mariposa and that whole cabal that really symbolize the worst aspects of the human character.
I must commend SSS on being truthful even if it might be inconvenient. The aforementioned cabal could learn a great deal.
As Lorenzo put it, the PM did an excellent job representing Barbados and the region on Amanpour. In my view she wasn’t given enough time but what she had she made the best of, such that persons from afar afield as Africa and the Far East had nothing but praise for the interview.
No Mariposa, she did not present Barbados and the region as beggars. A simple listen would inform you that she in fact said that we aren’t looking for handouts but at a time as disastrous as this, countries like ours should not be punished for being a “more developed developing country” for lack of a better term. Rather, when we most need it we should be able to access the benefits of multilateralism which states like Barbados so vigorously defend, even when larger nation derelict their duty.
We can debate the perfectly lawful recent legislative changes or any other baseless claim that you are wont to spew at any time. But what is immutable, like her or hate her, Mia Mottley acquitted herself admirably on Amanpour and there is little that folks such as yourself Piece can do to change that. I support the entitlement of every person to express an opinion without let or hindrance but really interventions like these only serve to prove the old Bajan saying true, that the higher the monkey climbs, or in this case the more the cabal writes, the more they expose themselves.
