I’m to ask and every right thinking person must be wondering: in whose interest is the Mia Mottley Administration managing the affairs of this country?

I would not be so silly to suggest that previous administration left this country in good order.  And I would be the first to admit that the new administration needed to take measures to restructure and stabilise the economy.  But so far, the measures imposed by this new labour party administration has shown a merciless disregard for the plight of the most vulnerable in this society.  As promised, the Government removed the much vilified National Society Responsibility Levy (NSRL), which was collected from the merchant class up front, and replaced it with a series of punitive measures that took particular aim at the poor and labouring classes in the country.

This country is badly in need of revenue and the Government seems content to raise the necessary funds to run the country by taxing the people that a labour party was philosophically set up to protect.  On the other hand, this administration has moved swiftly to ensure that its friends and family are protected from the ravages of this marauding tax collecting machine that came into power on May 25, 2018.

This administration has even placed a tax on water, while at the same time forgiving the billions of dollars in income taxes that were owed mainly by the merchant class, who fund election campaigns, and by their close friends and family.

Last December the Government introduced and passed an amendment to the Income Tax Act to write off taxes that were owed by persons between 1968 and 2000.  The cynical among us, including me, believe that this was a measure aimed at giving tax relief to the Prime Minister’s father.

The country did not cry out about that atrocity and that has emboldened the Government to prepare legislation that would write off the Value Added Tax (VAT) that was collected and stolen by VAT registrants between 1996 and 2000.  The furniture store, Courts, is set to receive a write off of the principal sum of $35 million not included interest and penalties, that will also be written off by this legislation.

Lord, the people of this country prayed for a change but if they only knew what they would have gotten.  I am reminded of what my grandmother would say:  BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PRAY FOR, YOU MIGHT GET IT.

The amendment bill is attached.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency discusses waster food. And the EPA are pretty serious folks.

    Reducing Wasted Food At Home
Most people don’t realize how much food they throw away every day — from uneaten leftovers to spoiled produce. About 94 percent of the food we throw away ends up in landfills or combustion facilities. In 2015, we disposed 37.6 million tons of food waste. By managing food sustainably and reducing waste, we can help businesses and consumers save money, provide a bridge in our communities for those who do not have enough to eat, and conserve resources for future generations.

    THIS IS NOT NONSENSE DAVID

SOME FOLK CAN GET LOTS OF STUFF FOR VIRTUALLY NOTHING BY JUST USING COUPONS FROM THEIR SUNDAY PAPERS AND OTHER SOURCES

YOU CAN SEE THIS ON TV OFTEN

ITS LIKE A HOBBY OR OBSESSION FOR SOME

For an average family of 2 to 4 people, if we buy $1,000 worth of food at a time, almost certainly a good portion of it is going to waste. More is not necessarily better; that’s all I was trying to say.

    Food waste per capita:

  6. And I disagree.

And if as the headline say we are in for scary times, we had better learn how not to waste. We cannot afford to lust after the huge quantities of food that Americans can afford to buy and waste. But we need not go hungry either.

  8. Not too many people on $24,000 a year are looking to buy a US $20,00 to $30,000 vehicle.
A person in Barbados can live much better on BDS $80K than a person in the US on US $24K.
Why do you think folks rush back to the Caribbean in their twilight years?

IF WE BUY $200 US WORTH OF FOOD NOTHING GOES TO WASTE AND THE TWO OF US DONT EAT THAT MUCH

AND WE DONT CHECK ANY WEBSITES TO RATIONALIZE THESE FACTS

BY THE WAY WHEREAS Jesus stood for JUSTICE HE ALSO GAVE A STORY THAT SUGGESTS THAT WORKERS TEND TO GET WHAT THEY AGREE TO WORK FOR

WORKERS CAN REFUSE TO WORK IF THEY DO NOT LIKE THE WAGES OFFERED AND STAY AT HOME

I HAVE REFUSED SEVERAL TEACHING JOBS AT OFFSHORE MEDICAL SCHOOLS OVER THE YEARS BECAUSE I DID NOT LIKE THE WAGES I WAS OFFERED

You had the option of doing that because you started off with advantages which you have detailed here just recently. Your family was not poor. When people are desperate and do not have what you have e.g. financial stability and higher education they are forced to take what they get. Jesus did not state that the wages that the initial workers got were unfair. The idea was that the last workers were given a bonus because the employer felt like it. You berated me for taking passages out of context. Now I know you know that that was meant to counter the thinking of those who come early to repentance that they are being disadvantaged when those who come to Jesus late are rewarded with the same pardon. They receive their pardon. That is the ultimate gift something they do not really deserve. That is not unfair. Furthermore if somebody else receives the same gift it does not take away from the fact that they have received their ultimate gift. That is not unfair. AGAIN YOU ARE BEING DISINGENUOUS JUST TO WIN A POINT. I KNOW YOU KNOW THIS.

RE I do not see any Bible passage that speaks to the evils of ownership of capital by the state or the evils of reasonable
JESUS SAID WE SHOULD RENDER TO CAESAR I.E THE STATE WHAT WAS DUE
    AND HE PAID THE TAXES

I knew you would quote that . I also knew it would prove my point. Looney Tunes thinks taxation is theft. Thank you.

ONE APPRECIATES YOUR ZEAL FOR THE POOR BUT JESUS SAID THAT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US AND WE STILL DO AND ALWAYS WILL

AND YOU CANT DO A THING BOUT UM EXCEPT RANT AND RAVE

I do more than rant and rave. I sometimes help them. So it seems, do you. Those who are poor do not always remain poor. Others slide into poverty and we can also help them. Therefore, though there will always be poor, a particular person does not have to spend his or entire life in poverty.

RE When I reached my destination it was determined that I need a man in my life.
THIS MAY BE TRUE. MAYBE THIS CAN NOT BE REFUTED EITHER.

The point was that because I made a legitimate request for the male driver to abide by the law, not endanger my life by driving me while whatsapping and because I refused to be intimidated by his threatening bulk and back down like a good little woman, I was branded as miserable or perhaps what you would label a “brawling woman”. It was therefore determined by people who do not even know me or whether I do have a man in my life that I needed to have one.

So….. I needed a man because then I would ignore sensible laws and allow my life to be endangered because a stupid man wanted to whatapp nonsense instead of keeping his eyes on the road.

My man…. when I finished he put the phone down and I was delivered to my destination with my life and limbs intact.

So…. I need a man to do what – to cow me into meekly accepting the stupidity of other men? My father just this hour put down the phone in my ear because I would not acknowledge the absolute honesty and integrity of the DLP leadership. It is not the first time. An ex of mine just a couple of hours ago lambasted me because I criticized this VAT write off proposal. I am still, it seems, partial to the DLP. He knows I voted Bee but says I did not cuss the DLP enough. Silly me, I thought it was the vote that counts. And you – you are here arguing like a minibus man, taking Bible verses out of context, same as you just accused me of doing. because you cannot concede a single point. You believe you know so much about the Bible and assume that I know so little that you can get away with that. That has been my experience with men. I am pretend to that GOD did mot give me a brain to accommodate your oversized egos.

And I need a man to do what?????????????????????????????????????? Force me to fake more orgasms????????????????????????????

As I told some people many years ago I got eleven men. They are the West Indies cricket team. I fired the old ones and I have hired some new ones. I will give them some time to prove they are worthy of my attention.. Otherwise I am like Donald Trump.

    ” You’re fired!”

And that goes for ALL MEN!

So I am not the kind of kiss ass woman that most men seem to require.

And for me it is better to live on a roof top than to live in a wide house with most of wunnuh hard headed, big headed egoists.

When I find a man who does not need to be right on EVERYTHING I will reconsider. In the meantime I am happier than I EVER was, looking forward to putting some big plans into action.

    Hallelujah!

It has been acknowledged by many on this site that I am one of the few reasonable persons here. Seems I was born that way (Ironically my father told me so years ago.) That is what I have always aimed to be. That is what I want said in my eulogy and that is what I want placed on my tombstone.

Most of you people don’t care about anything but your own opinions. You come here to beat people into submission. But David can attest to the fact that just last week I REMINDED HIM of how I had made fun of his position and then had to eat my hat.

Ain’t nothing wrong with eating your hat. I eat mine when necessary. Without ketchup. I actually take pride in doing so! I feel so good when I do it. It proves I have achieved what i set out to do. I am what I want to be!

    Hallelujah!

  20. And just one more thing, GP,

That “ranting and raving” thing is a stereotypical gender based insult when a woman makes a point. Also the “you need a man in your life” thing . It is often said to women who actually have a man in their lives. It is the only insult that people with few word can find to tell women who can make them look like the idiots they are. It’s in the realm of “ya mudder”.

And another thing, we all know that we cannot stop at what Jesus said. We have to determine what Jesus meant. We have to put it in context. You said that. I did that for you. You ignored it.

You do it ONLY when it suits you. No wonder you like Donald Trump.

    WHAT A RANT DONNA

WORKERS CAN REFUSE TO WORK IF THEY DO NOT LIKE THE WAGES OFFERED AND STAY AT HOME. THIS CAN NOT BE REFUTED EITHER

RE Jesus did not state that the wages that the initial workers got were unfair.
HOW COULD HE. BECAUSE ACTUALLY THEY GOT THE GOING WAGE FOR A DAYS WORK, OR PART OF A DAYS WORK

HE IMPLIED THAT THEY AGREED TO THE WAGE AND THAT THEY WORKED!

RE The idea was that the last workers were given a bonus because the employer
    felt like it.
JESUS DID NOT SAY THAT. THAT IS YOUR INTERPRETATION
    READ THE TEXT.

ACTUALLY THE OWNER WAS GLAD TO GET THE WORKERS BECAUSE HE WANTED HIS CROP HARVESTED……HE WENT LOOKING FOR WORKERS

You berated me for taking passages out of context. YOU DO, AND YOU DID SO AGAIN THIS TIME

RE Now I know you know that that was meant to counter the thinking of those
who come early to repentance that they are being disadvantaged when those
who come to Jesus late are rewarded with the same pardon.
They receive their pardon. That is the ultimate gift something they do not really
deserve. That is not unfair. Furthermore if somebody else receives the same gift it does not take away from the fact that they have received their ultimate gift.

IS THAT WHAT YOUR RELIGIOUS TEACHERS TAUGHT YOU ABOUT THIS
TEXT? WHERE IN THE TEXT IS ANY OF THAT SAID.

RE I KNOW YOU KNOW THIS.
HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY KNOW WHAT I KNOW

I DO KNOW THAT THERE ARE FAR BETTER OPINIONS ON Matthew 20:1-16

HERE IS ONE THAT IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH WHAT OTHER BIBLE PASSAGES TEACH

This lengthy parable is found only in the gospel of Matthew. Jesus tells the Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16) in response to Peter’s question in Matthew 19:27: “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” Peter wanted to know what reward would be given to those who give up everything to follow Jesus. In response, Jesus explains this truth about the kingdom of heaven.

Planting, maintaining and harvesting vineyards in first-century Israel was strenuous work requiring hard physical labor in the heat of summer. Often, additional laborers were required to get all the work done. The owner of this particular vineyard went to the marketplace at the first hour of the morning (6:00 a.m.) to find workers for the day. His offered wage of one denarius, a Roman’s soldier’s pay for a day, was generous indeed. The workers in the first group were more than happy to work for the generous wage.

As the day progressed and more workers were hired, the specific wage was not mentioned, but the landowner promised to pay “whatever is right.” Apparently, the workers were sufficiently confident of the landowner’s character that they trusted him at his word. Altogether, four groups of workers were hired, the last group just one hour before the end of the day. When the time came for the wages to be paid, the first group of workers saw the last group being paid a denarius and were naturally thinking they would be paid more since they had worked the longest. Their anger against the landowner spilled forth when they saw they would all be paid the same, even though they got exactly what they had agreed upon when they were hired. The landowner was forced to defend his actions to the first group, even though he had dealt them in perfect fairness according to the contract.

The landowner, whose decision to pay all the workers the same was an act of mercy—not injustice—represents God, whose grace and mercy are shed abundantly upon those of His choosing. “For he says to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.’ It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy” (Romans 9:15-16). In the matter of salvation, His grace and mercy are given to those whose self-righteous works could never obtain it. We are all sinful and “fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), but His grace is sufficient to redeem all who believe. Whether God calls someone early or late in life to partake of His grace, the glory and praise for our salvation is His and His alone and in no way amounts to unfairness. Just as the landowner has a right to do what he wishes with his own money, so does God have the right to have mercy on whom He will have mercy.

The first group of workers in the vineyard resented receiving the same wage as the last group. Their attitude was similar to that of the Pharisees, who were incensed at Jesus’ teaching that others could inherit a heavenly kingdom they thought was reserved for them alone. They despised Jesus for offering the kingdom to poor, oppressed, weak sinners whom He made equal to them. In verse 15, the landowner asks, “Is your eye evil because I am good?” The “evil eye” was a Hebrew expression referring to jealousy and envy. God’s goodness and mercy produced in the self-righteous Pharisees the evil eye of envy. The rest of the workers received their wages without complaint or envy of others. In the same way, as Christians, we should rejoice when others come to the Savior, as we should rejoice in the service others render to Him. He is faithful to reward us for our service as He has promised, and how He rewards others should be of no consequence to us, nor should it affect our devotion to Him.

The message in verse 16, “the last will be first, and the first last,” is that no matter how long or how hard a believer works during his lifetime, the reward of eternal life will be the same given to all—an eternity of bliss in heaven in the presence of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43), whose life of service was limited to a moment of repentance and confession of faith in Christ, received the same reward of eternal life as the apostle Paul. Of course, Scripture also teaches that there are different rewards in heaven for different services, but the ultimate reward of eternal life will be achieved by all equally.

  36. @ Facts Not Fiction March 8, 2019 6:03 PM

Let’s talk about the reasons for the high prices. There are:

    1) Excessive duties, taxes and other levies on imports to finance the many lazy bones on the island.

    2) Barbadost is a very small market. Have you ever tried to fill a whole container with televisions? If it is only filled to 25% for Barbados, you pay the same transport costs as for a full container.

    3) There is no functioning market in Barbados, only monopolies.

Or in other words: you have to be able to afford to live in Barbados! The ticket to paradise is expensive. Barbados is a premium island of the platinum class. The prices can’t be on the level of a continental state. Those who don’t like it can emigrate or don’t have to visit us. So the high prices keep the whole worldwide riffraff off our backs.

It’s a privilege to live in Barbados. If you tell people in New York, London, Zurich or Paris that you live in a small mansion in Barbados, everyone will envy you. Barbadians should really, really be proud of the country here. If it were everywhere like Barbados, there would have been no world wars, no genocide, no slavery and other atrocities. In this respect, the Barbadians are a thousand years ahead of the rest of the world in terms of civilisation.

  37. DAMN RIGHT! If the businesses are not paying the VAT into the government as they were supposed to that is redistributing wealth most of it from the general population who could use it in these hard times. This is not money that was demanded from businesses by government. This was money demanded by government from us. We paid it. They should pay it. Most of them who took it are richer than we who paid it. This is redistributing wealth in the wrong direction. I say if paying it in total at once will sink the business, let them pay it in small instalments.

But let them pay it! We had to!

    TEXT
JOHN CHAPTER 12::8 the poor always ye have with you

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

    CONTEXT
1 MARY SOUGHT TO HONOR THE LORD BY LAVISHING A POUND OF VERY EXPENSIVE OINTMENT ON HIS FEET
    2 JUDAS ISCARIOT OBJECTED
3 HE THOUGHT THE MONEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN BETTER SPENT ON THE POOR
4 JESUS INTERRUPTED HIS OUTBURST VERSE BY EXPLAINING WHY MARY HAD PERFORMED THUS AND THEN HE GIVE THE LASTING AND ENDURING TRUTH THAT

“the poor always ye have with you”

IT HAD ALWAYS BEEN SO BEFORE JESUS CAME
IT WAS SO IN JESUS DAY
THE POOR REMAINS WITH US TODAY JUST AS JESUS SAID

WHETHER YA LIKE UM OR NOT, REGARDLESS TO THE REASON AND DESPITE WHATEVER RELIGIOUS TEACHERS MIGHT SAY

WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US REGARDLESS TO WHAT THE SCHOLARS AT, OR WHO ATTENDED SAY

WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US JUST LIKE THE ONES IN LOS ANGELES AND SAN FRANCISCO……………AND UM WILL GET WORSE IN CALIFORNIA TOO. AS MORE AND MORE ILLEGAL ALIENS SWARM INTO THAT BANKRUPT STATE

THE FAILURE OF BUSYNESS FOLK IN BIM TO PAY THE VAT OR TAXES MAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE THE NUMBERS OF POOR IN BARBADOS HELPING TO PROVE THAT JESUS WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT WHEN HE PREDICTED THAT …………….

WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US

I HAVE RIGHTLY DIVIDED THE TEXT IN ITS CONTEXT

RE RE As I told some people many years ago I got eleven men.

SO YOU ARE LIKE THE WOMAN IN JOHN CHAPTER 4 THEN?

Where is the rest of what I wrote???????? You have deliberately taken it out of the context.. Everybody I told that to realized that I meant I love my cricket, The cricketers are the only men who could keep me up at night. Watching them play cricket in Australia ans New Zealand! Lord have mercy! SMH. Look how far you will go to make a point!

I WAS NOT TRYING TO MAKE A POINT AT ALL
YOU ARE STUPID TO THINK THAT I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU SAID OR MEANT

BUT I HAVE NO DOUBT FROM YOUR RANTS AND RAVES AND STATED REBELLION THAT YOU ARE MOST LIKELY LIKE THE WOMAN IN JOHN CHAPTER 4 AND THAT YOU HAVE HAD SEVERAL MEN ALREADY…..NOT HUSBANDS LIKE SHE SAID. BUT MEN FOR WHOM YOU DECEITFULLY FAKED ORGASMS FOR WHATEVER REASON LOL UH LIE? DONT ANSWER THAT..

RE RE And for me it is better to live on a roof top than to live in a wide house with most of wunnuh hard headed, big headed egoists.

THERE YOU GO AGAIN MISINTERPRETING AND WRESTING THE SCRIPTURES!

IT WAS SOLOMON NOT JESUS WHO OPINED THAT it is better to live on a roof top than to live in a wide house with A BRAWLING WOMAN.

YOU HAVE BOTH MISQUOTED AND MIS APPLIED THE TEXT AND GIVEN ME MUCH MIRTH IN THE PROCESS

THERE IS NO COMPARABLE TEXT ABOUT WOMEN LIVING on a roof top RATHER than to live in a wide house with most of wunnuh hard headed, big headed egoists.

BUT RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS LIKE YOU WHO WENT TO CODRINGTON TEND TO WREST THE SCRIPTURES AS PETER POINTED OUT IN 2 PETER 3

I ONLY TRYING TO STICK TO WUH THE WORD SAY
REMEMBER I AM ONLY A “SECOND”

A society where government ministers, judges, lawyers, DPP. police and every other scum in between at the top and at the bottom…believes that raping minors, small vulnerable children is quite normal.

    “Roy Morris Rape Charge Disappears

Back on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, veteran journalist Roy Morris was charged with rape by the Royal Barbados Police Force. He was released on bail after appearing in court.

As BFP detailed in a series of articles, Morris had been on the run from the police while wanted for the alleged rape of a young 16 year old woman who may have been an intern at The Nation News.

Barbados Free Press and Barbados Underground broke the story over a month before Morris surrendered to police.”

Psalm 127: verse 2 “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.”

My loving heavenly Father who looks after me even while I am asleep, gave me a nice restful night. I went to sleep at 8:30 p.m. and woke up at 7:00 a.m.

    Sweet!!!

  48. Dr.Ronnie Yearwood is/was close to Owen Arthur. Many years ago he had a student attachment at the Prime Minister’s Office when Arthur was PM. I do not think Mia is too keen on him.
His mother Grace Yearwood works as a security officer with the Ministry of Defence & Security. She can be contacted through that department

    @ Negroman

Does he have a “web presence”?

    FACEBOOK etc?

De ole man would have to reach out to him as an anonymice.

But I do wonder about his current political affiliations since he was permitted to speak at length under Mackie at the Central Bank La Salle Room.

He has “gravitas” and would impress the people and attract the sheeple.

De ole man could mek he King as in Prime Minister or the Face of the Third Movement!

If you have a backdoor to him, put in a word for de ole man.

I would like to talk to him.

Let me get the grandson to mock up something for him and you can send that to him

    A few moments please.

Surely neither of you is thinking that an internship in a Prime Minister’s office, means that the stdent shares the Prime Minister’s political views.

What if Dr. Yearwood has NO political affiliation.

Is politics the only way, or even the best way to serve?

    Stupsseee!!!
