Several countries including the USA and and Canada have recently supported the claim of Juan Guaido as the president of Venezuela. We already know who Russia backs, do we have another Syria in the making only this time within the Caribbean region?
CARACAS, Venezuela — A group of soldiers turned against the government and declared allegiance to the opposition. Foreign officials say the government could soon run out of money to meet bare-bones needs. And countries across the region have called the president an illegitimate dictator.
Conditions in Venezuela have deteriorated to a point where the opposition — gutted by the jailing and exiling of many of its leaders and discredited after several failed efforts to oust President Nicolás Maduro — is seeing an opportunity. Leading them is a virtually unheard-of 35-year-old, Juan Guaidó.
His debut as opposition leader and head of the National Assembly this month has captured the attention of those within the country and outside of it — mainly for his striking claim that Mr. Maduro is not a legitimate ruler and his willingness to take charge of a transitional government.
“The relationship between Venezuela and its state today is one of terror,” Mr. Guaidó said in an interview. “When this happens, the voices and hopes of the world, their messages, are the encouragement for the daily struggle to resist — to dream of democracy, and for a better country.”

Nothing new or surprising there. Journalism has always been the Brits profession of choice. We used to sit in the newsroom and speculate on who was working for which intelligence agency: who was working for MI5, MI6, Naval Intelligence, etc. It is the reason why I always warn about our senior defence and police officers attending parties at foreign embassies and high commissions. That would not stop t, but t would put the brakes on.
You may remember the Leveson Inquiry during which it was disclosed that some well known journalists were officially police informers(ie swapping information). Black students leaving some of our universities are also regularly approached BY THEIR PROFESSORS.

We see the US positioning itself to invade Venezuela. In the same way the safety of US students provided an excuse for entering Grenada, the US embassy in Venezuela will be the tripwire that allow the US to end up in Venezuela.
I feel sympathy for the suffering of the Venezuelans, but they should remain aware that the US is unable to fix most of what it broke. Please remember the quote “We came, we saw, he died” and think of Libya as it is currently.

Venezuela Wants $1.2 Billion in Gold Back From Bank of England
(Bloomberg) — Nicolas Maduro’s embattled Venezuelan regime, desperate to hold onto the dwindling cash pile it has abroad, was stymied in its bid to pull $1.2 billion worth of gold out of the Bank of England, according to people familiar with the matter.
The Bank of England’s decision to deny Maduro officials’ withdrawal request comes after top U.S. officials, including Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton, lobbied their U.K. counterparts to help cut off the regime from its overseas assets, according to one of the people, who asked not to be identified.
The U.K. followed the U.S. and other countries on Wednesday in recognizing Juan Guaido, the National Assembly leader, as the legitimate president of Venezuela. Maduro, an authoritarian ruler who’s overseen the country’s collapse into economic chaos, refuses to give up power, though, and has the backing of the military. The European Union threatened to recognize Guaido unless a “credible” presidential election is called with eight days, according to a draft statement seen by Bloomberg.”

There are nearly two billion Muslims in the world. Only a few thousand of them are extremist terrorists.
So for the purpose of my argument it really does not matter that there are more blacks in jail in the USA than whites (although the racist system accounts for that). What matters is that the vast majority of people are no threat and should not be prejudged as such. We should vet everybody but not prejudge them.
