Barbadians have a strong interest in what unravels in the United States. We may debate why this is the case- an abundance of US news feeds streaming into our homes via FLOW, DIGICEL and Internet devices 24b hours a day, family members living in the USA, we travel there to further our studies and on recreation the list is long.

The BU household also has a keen interest in the outcome of the midterms later tonight, it will be a referendum on Trump’s tenure for sure.

    Here are the procedures whereby LEGAL immigrants were processed on Ellis Island.

    Both of my great grandfathers went though these procedures.

    Some immigrants got through, others were turned away and sent back from where they came.

    You might say the procedures occurring at the foot of Libertas were inhumane by today’s standards but once you invoke Libertas, then you need to understand how the procedures worked.

    Last week after 11 were killed in a synagogue in Pittsburgh 45 said if there was a man with a gun inside he would be able to take out the shooter (note he didn’t say before or after the 11 had gone to their maker). America is still looking for a “good man with a gun” after 12 were taken out at a bar, according to reports it was country music night so if I follow the convoluted reasoning of the Trump supporters here country music is hazardous to your health since the Las Vegas gunman took out 59 at a country music concert.

    In other news 45 has hired a loyal foot soldier to stymie the Mueller investigation and has threatened to use the Senate to blunt any investigations coming from the newly elected Congress note – to Mitch McConnell an updated job description is in the mail – “ain’t that America something to see, ain’t that America home of the free.”

    Modern America was founded by immigrants and has always been a land of immigrants; from Europeans to Africans to Chinese to real Indians.

    As a result of the overriding ‘Principle’ given in the declaration of the American Independence you should also find that non-white (coloured) immigrants have as much right to live any where on your God’s green earth called New Jerusalem under your modern-day Messiah called Donald Trump as any of their counterparts out of Europe (including the Quakers) who ‘settled’ America vi et armis and decimated the native populations:

    Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been hospitalized. The justice reportedly suffered three broken ribs after falling in her office.

    According to The Daily Wire:
    Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after suffering a nasty fall in her office Wednesday night.

    The 85-year-old fractured three ribs on her left side from the fall, according to a press release.

    “Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fell in her office at the Court last evening,” reads the press released from the pubic information office. “She went home, but after experiencing discomfort overnight, went to George Washington University Hospital early this morning.”

    “Tests showed that she fractured three ribs on her left side and she was admitted for observation and treatment,” the statement continued.

    Many have speculated that Ginsburg will be the next Supreme Court Justice President Trump will be able to replace. News like this makes that an even greater possibility.

    On a more serious note, if Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg is replaced by a Trump nominee it will be instructive to see how the process plays out.

    If it goes quiet as I suspect it will, we will know that the Democrats are finally beginning to twig and see the light.

    ROD ROSENSTEIN GOES TO THE WHITE HOUSE – RESIGNATION EXPECTED

    Rod Rosenstein is no longer in charge of the Mueller witch hunt and on top of that, his protector, Jeff Sessions was fired by Trump. Sessions said a couple of times that he would resign if Rosenstein was fired. It’s Rosenstein’s turn to do the same. He is heading to the White House and he could resign at that time. Acting Attorney General, Matthew Whitaker is expected to take over the Mueller probe.

    That is probably the end of the Mueller investigation. In the past, Whitaker said that Mueller has crossed the red line in his investigation. He said that Mueller does not have to be fired. He said that the AG of the DOJ could just cut his funding, effectively killing the investigation. He also wrote in an op-ed that Hillary Clinton should be indicted. He now has become the Democrat’s worst nightmare.

    Trump will nominate someone to take over permanently. Whitaker could be the nominee as well as others. Confirmation of Trump’s nominee will pass through the Senate easily, if not now, in early January, when the new majority takes office.

    Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is reportedly on his way to the White House after Jeff Sessions was asked to resign Wednesday.

    Shortly after Sessions turned in his resignation letter, a US official said the Acting Attorney General, Matthew Whitaker is expected to take over the Mueller probe.

    Matthew Whitaker is described as a “Trump loyalist” who has been privately described as the West Wing’s “eyes and ears” in the Justice Department, says the New York Times.

    Now that Rosenstein no longer has control over the Mueller probe, he may resign from his position as DAG.

    Trump just keeps on winning and Schumer is now weaker than he was before. Not only has he lost Democrats, he has also lost RINOs like Jeff Flake and Bob Corker. That means many of Trump’s judges will be confirmed faster. He could give the courts a conservative slant for two or three decades.

    Trump just keeps winning.

    The five Taliban commanders that former President Barack Obama freed in exchange for United States Army deserter Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is now back in action as Islamic terrorists.

    Despite warnings that swapping terrorists for Bergdahl would end up in the Taliban leaders waging jihad against American once again, the Obama administration continued its controversial deal to release the “Gitmo 5” from the high-security U.S. military prison camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba – which Obama attempted to completely evacuate by the end of his last term in office, according to One News Now.

    Bergdahl was originally freed in 2014 after former President Barack Obama transferred five Taliban prisoners held at Guantanamo bay to Qatar in exchange for his release by the militant group. All five Taliban militants were senior figures in the insurgent force and assessed as major threats to U.S. interests during their detention at the military prison.

    The terrorists include Mohammad Fazl, Abdul Haq Wasiq, Mullah Norullah Nori, Khairullah Khairkhwa, and Mohammed Nabi Omari. Sen. John McCain of Arizona described the men as the “hardest of the hard core” at the time, criticizing Obama’s decision to release them without consulting Congress.

    Others fear the five, all of whom were close to the insurgent group’s founder and hard-line leader Mullah Mohammed Omar, bring with them the same ultra-conservative interpretation of Islam that characterized the group’s five-year rule that ended in 2001 with the U.S.-led invasion.

    A Taliban official familiar with the discussions told The Associated Press that talks ended with an agreement to meet again. Key among the Taliban’s requests was recognition of their Qatar office, said the official, who spoke on condition he not be identified because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

    In an unexpected development, Pakistan also bowed to a long-standing Afghan Taliban demand that it release its senior leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who had been in jail in Pakistan since 2010. At the time, Baradar was reportedly jailed after bypassing Pakistan to open independent peace talks with Hamid Karzai, who was then Afghanistan’s president.

    Baradar’s release followed Khalilzad’s first visit to Pakistan since being appointed Washington’s peace envoy.

    Baradar issued an audio message after his release to the Taliban. The Pashto-language message, heard by an Associated Press reporter, seemed to indicate he was preparing for a role in the insurgent movement moving forward.

    Hakim Mujahed, a former Taliban member who is now also a member of the Afghan government peace council, said the presence of the five former Guantanamo prisoners in the Taliban’s Qatar office is indicative of the Taliban’s resolve to find a peace deal. He said the stature of the five within the insurgent movement will make a peace deal palatable to the rank and file, many of whom have resisted talks believing a military victory was within their grasp.

    Just before the midterms, a whistleblower volunteering her time at the polls recognized a name she had not seen in more than 14 years! There is a good reason she hasn’t seen this particular name in over a decade- the person has been deceased all this time but somehow managed to end up on the approved voter’s list?

    Isn’t it interesting how stories like these never made it through the mainstream media?

    A volunteer poll worker in Ohio noticed something interesting on a signature poll book: her deceased neighbor appeared on the active voter list. The kicker? Her neighbor died 14 years ago, according to Town Hall.

    The worker, Linda Zgoda, has volunteered at various polling places in Hamilton County for the last 20 years.

    “I feel like I have to have honest elections, you have to have good officials,” Zgoda told WEWS-TV. “I feel like it’s a civic responsibility for people to work at the polls.”

    She pays close attention to details.

    “It was initially when we had the signature poll book that I became aware that my neighbor was still on the rolls,” she said. “Then after it had been on for so long, I became curious about it.” That’s when she began to dig.

    “I’m concerned that by someone being on the rolls, someone could improperly vote in their name,” she said.

    But when she brought this ‘error’ to the attention to the proper officials was the mistake corrected? No! In fact, Zgoda was practically handed scissors and told the family of her dead neighbor would have to cut through miles of red tape to get their loved one’s name removed.

    As Reported By ABC Action News:

    She contacted the Hamilton County Board of Elections and was told a family member needed to turn in her neighbor’s death certificate to have that person removed.

    “Since this has been brought to our attention, we did more research, and we’ve been able to obtain some more identifying information, and that person has now been canceled,” Hamilton County Board of Elections director Sherry Poland said.

    Poland said the state and county usually do a more thorough job of removing deceased voters from the rolls, but this time was different.

    Today, Americans hear young socialists and communists within our nation talking about “fundamentally transforming” America, which simply means creating a new authoritarian socialist state for America and destroying the Constitution and the Republic, “by any means necessary”.

    And now we see a self-avowed socialist from New York elected to the House … Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez … who has the sense God gave a mushroom, exhibiting just how immoral and greedy the people of her district are and how far New York has fallen. We also see an anti-American Muslim … Keith Ellison elected as the Attorney General of Minnesota.

    The recent talk by leading Democrats of coming together in unity for the sake of America is just that … Talk … wait until they are sworn in.

    The Battle for the Heart and Soul of America will continue for some time. . The war is ahead of us – and the ending will be much like that of the final Fall of Rome.

    The now-deleted video was posted on social media by Smash Racism, D.C. The same group made headlines in September after activists confronted Sen.Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and his wife inside a restaurant during Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings.

    The group posted on Facebook that Carlson spreads “fear into our homes,” and said it wanted to even the score.

    “Each night you remind us that we are not safe. Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either,” the group posted. They also chanted, “Racist s—bag, leave town.”

    The post was later removed.

    Tucker has 4 children.

    Carlson, host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” was not home at the time. He said his wife, Susie, was home alone and heard the commotion from the kitchen. She called the police and locked herself into a pantry, he said. His brother — who lives close by — arrived about the same time as law enforcement.

    The host said activists rang his doorbell, broke his oak door and one protester was apparently caught on security video mentioning a pipe bomb.

    D.C. police did not immediately respond to a Fox News email early Thursday.

    Carlson said he was at the Fox News office in Washington working on his opening monologue when neighbors texted him about the commotion outside his home. His wife of 22 years did not contact him because she didn’t want to distract him before he went on air, he said.

    The group eventually scattered. It was unclear if there were any arrests. Carlson said the group posted online the home addresses of his brother and his former college roommate, Neil Patel, who co-founded the Daily Caller with Carlson.

    Carlson said he is used to being confronted in public and has no interest in playing the role of victim, but he said his wife and his four children should not have to be exposed to the aggression while at home.

    “Here’s the problem, I have four children,” he said by phone. “I never thought twice about leaving them home alone, but this is the reaction because this group doesn’t like my TV show.”

    Twitter reportedly removed a photo of Carlson’s home address that was posted by the group. Smash Racism DC’s account was suspended early Thursday.

    Brit Hume, a Fox News commentator, took to Twitter to denounce the protest as “revolting, and frightening.”

    Prominent liberal voices offered scathing critiques of the demographic they blamed most for the lack of “blue wave” victory in the midterm elections on Tuesday — white women.

    Despite the onslaught of free campaign publicity for Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) in his uphill attempt to unseat incumbent Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), and the millions that poured into the contest, Cruz was able to hold on to his seat. Although the House of Representatives fell under control of the Democrats, many were disappointed at the lack of greater electoral successes.

    Many on the left saw this and the deflation of the “blue wave” as evidence that white women were not pulling their weight at the polling booth to help their progressive vision come to fruition.

    And they aired out their frustrations on social media.

    Liberal activist Marisa Kabas tweeted, “white women uphold white supremacy through their vote. they have no qualms about hurting women of color, and that’s an objective truth.”

    “Black women voted 95% for Beto. White women did what white women do,” said comedian and writer Travon Free, adding an image showing that 59 percent of white women voted for the re-election of Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

    Some conservatives on social media saw the irony of blaming white women for voting for a Hispanic candidate, simply because he’s Republican.

    “59% of white women voted for Ted Cruz,” said white female comedian Chelsea Handler. “I don’t know what it is going to take for us to be sisters to other women, but we have to do better than this.”

    “We need to vote for the best interests of others, and stop thinking only about ourselves.”

    “White women are a Republican constituency, and in many states they again voted as if patriarchy would protect them,” said frequent MSNBC guest Jamil White. “50 percent or more for DeSantis, Cruz, and Kemp.”
    I am unsure when they will understand the damage that they do, and not just to themselves.

    “Really, truly embarrassed that 76% of white women in Georgia voted for Kemp. It’s shameful. Humiliating,” said New York Magazine writer,
    Thinking about driving my ass down there next election and personally talking to as many of these fools as possible.

    Top Democrats in the House are reportedly planning to invite Robert Mueller to testify on Capitol Hill in televised hearings if President Trump takes action to fire the special counsel and shut down the Russia investigation.

    Senior Democratic aides told Politico that if Trump were to fire Mueller and other members of the Justice Department’s leadership in a scenario similar to Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre, Democrats would respond by inviting Mueller to testify before the House in a televised hearing.

    “I think you could expect Democrats to take pieces of what they shut down and expose it publicly,” a senior aide familiar with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) thinking told Politico.

    “This is a report paid for with taxpayer dollars. So taxpayers would have a right to know what Mr. Mueller found,” the aide continued.

    Trump has attacked Mueller and the special counsel investigation, which he calls a “witch hunt,” for months despite several top members of his campaign being ensnared in criminal charges related to the investigation.

    In April, the president suggested that he has been advised to fire the special counsel, and it was reported that Trump had previously attempted to do so last year.

    The White House has publicly maintained that Trump has no plans to fire the special counsel or other top leaders at the Department of Justice, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who is expected to exit following this week’s midterm elections.

    “As we’ve said many times before, we have no intention of firing the special counsel,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said at a press briefing in April.

    “We’ve been beyond cooperative with them, we’re continuing to cooperate with them,” she added.

    Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who is set to become the new chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said on MSNBC that Democrats could protect Mueller the way Republicans would not do.

    “I think that the chances that Bob Mueller will be able to finish his work improved for the reason that our committee and others like the Government Reform Committee and the Judiciary Committee, which under Republican leadership served as basically surrogates for the president in their efforts to batter down the Justice Department, to give the president a pretext … to fire people in the Justice Department, all of that tearing down of the independence of these institutions is going to end,” Schiff said.

    “Now that doesn’t mean the president can’t still act in ways that are antithetical to the rule of law and the interest of justice, but it does mean that we’re better able to protect our institutions and see this investigation, I hope, complete.”

    Trump Devastates Obamacare
    President Trump has announced changes in how Obamacare will be enforced. Fox News reports:

    In a post-midterms one-two punch to ObamaCare, the Trump administration on Wednesday finalized major rule changes aimed at rolling back the Affordable Care Act’s contraceptive coverage mandate and tightening restrictions to ensure that taxpayer subsidies aren’t used to fund abortions.

    The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that the changes would allow some employers with religious or moral objections to opt out of providing no-cost birth control for female workers.

    Last year, the White House vowed to provide “full protection” to a wide range of companies and organizations that claim a “religious or moral objection” to providing the coverage.

    Under former President Barack Obama’s health care law, most employers must cover birth control at no charge as a preventive service for women. Accommodating religious objections has been a sticking point with conservatives for years, and was the subject of legal challenges.

    This is welcome relief for religious organizations, who will no longer be persecuted by the government for simply exercising their religious freedom.

    David Mr Blogmaster the elections are over and now on we go to 2020…but there is time for pause to parse these results and what they portend, so ideally there is further chat on that.

    One important change is the rearrangements of state house with more Democratic governors and even more importantly the blunt push back from the courts of ridiculous gerrymandering done by Republican legislatures…the action in Pennsylvania to reset that type gerrymandering was crucial to the Dem victories there.

    The repubs did well in the Senate and Florida appears to be more red than blue once again which is awesome for their electoral numbers but key shifts in the same Penn. and places like Michigan and Wisconsin where the former repub presidential candidate and current gov Walker was defeated are strong pluses for DEMS on that electoral scale.

    And all that should mean ONE thing for the avg Bajan: all politics is local and the work on the ground can yet dispel the person at the top of the ticket..thus our local DEMS can feel motivated to win back some serious ground in five years…😎

    I was wondering how the POTUS could circumvent the Senate approved dep AG or other Senate spproved legal officer in DOJ and appoint the man he did…I thought he was contravening the constitution, so I went in search of the facts….

    And of course law being law, differing opinions abound…what a surprise 😂.

    Suffice to say tho this could definitely be a constitutional issue and may reach the courts.

    The other amazing thing of all this is that the POTUS was also going to fire the dep AG when the news broke of his 25 Amendment perfidy so it’s perhaps rational that he was not appointed to act and then the third person in line who was Senate approved left the DoJ a few months ago.

    The entire affair is about palace intrigue and deep concerns about the legal health of the US but it seems that no Republican leader is concerned in the slightest, which is very strange considering a senator had threatened “holy hell to play” if Sessions was fired!

    The only thing guaranteed from all this is that the Mueller investigation will not be stopped…POTUS is hoisting himself by his stupidity if he actually believes he can somehow muddy the probe with his shenanigans.

    Mr. Whitaker has not been named to some junior post one or two levels below the Justice Department’s top job. He has now been vested with the law enforcement authority of the entire United States government, including the power to supervise Senate-confirmed officials like the deputy attorney general, the solicitor general and all United States attorneys.

    We cannot tolerate such an evasion of the Constitution’s very explicit, textually precise design. Senate confirmation exists for a simple, and good, reason. Constitutionally, Matthew Whitaker is a nobody. His job as Mr. Sessions’s chief of staff did not require Senate confirmation. (Yes, he was confirmed as a federal prosecutor in Iowa, in 2004, but Mr. Trump can’t cut and paste that old, lapsed confirmation to today.) For the president to install Mr. Whitaker as our chief law enforcement officer is to betray the entire structure of our charter document.

    In times of crisis, interim appointments need to be made. Cabinet officials die, and wars and other tragic events occur. It is very difficult to see how the current situation comports with those situations. And even if it did, there are officials readily at hand, including the deputy attorney general and the solicitor general, who were nominated by Mr. Trump and confirmed by the Senate. Either could step in as acting attorney general, both constitutionally and statutorily.

    Because Mr. Whitaker has not undergone the process of Senate confirmation, there has been no mechanism for scrutinizing whether he has the character and ability to evenhandedly enforce the law in a position of such grave responsibility. The public is entitled to that assurance, especially since Mr. Whitaker’s only supervisor is Mr. Trump himself, and the president is hopelessly compromised by the Mueller investigation. That is why adherence to the requirements of the Appointments Clause is so important here, and always.
