The three-ring circus currently playing in Washington to nominate an individual to replace the retiring Justice Kennedy appears to be less about the jurisprudential acuity or judicial temperament pf the candidate and to be more about their politic and degree of opposition to liberal values such as those expressed in the Roe v Wade decision. This confirmed the female’s autonomy over her body by finding a right to individual privacy in the Constitution. It is tantamount to what the conservative jurist Robert Bork once termed the “political seduction of the law” at a time when the boot of Congressional power was firmly placed on the other foot.

The decisions of the US Supreme Court (hereafter the SCOTUS) are not merely exercises in legal reasoning, Essentially, they are, rather, expressions of political philosophy, wrapped in the legalese of constitutional interpretation. In such a context, a President in office seeks to nominate for approval candidates who are partial to his politics and thus likely to concretize his governance agenda for the foreseeable future. Thus a court is not assessed so much for its forensic skills but as to whether it is majority conservative or liberal. It is an issue that is fought over with as dogged a determination as the political elections themselves. Recall the legally baseless, though politically successful, insistence of the Republicans that the outgoing President Obama should not be permitted to nominate a justice to the SCOTUS.

History records though that sometimes the expectations of the nominator are dashed when the nominee turns out to be other than the conservative or liberal he or she was assumed to be. Justice David Souter disappointed the conservatives as did Justice Byron White the liberals, appointed by President Kennedy and yet a dissentient in Roe v Wade. It appears that one tends naturally to assert his independence when granted a guarantee of lifetime tenure.

This rather lengthy prologue might well serve to explain the recent decision of the SCOTUS, in which by a 5-4 majority, it upheld until full argument from both sides in October the legitimacy of what has come to be known as the Trump travel ban. While I do not claim any special expertise in US Constitutional law and I accept that there might have been a partisan political element to the decision, I am still able to assess the decision for the cogency of its legal reasoning and the respective allures of the competing arguments.

The travel ban involved a proclamation by the President of a restriction on the entry of foreigners from the predominantly Muslim states of Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

The arguments of the claimants/respondents in this matter, the state of Hawaii, three individuals and the Muslim Association of Hawaii, challenged the legality of the Proclamation, principally on the ground that it violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, because it was motivated not by concerns pertaining to national security but by animus toward the Islam religion.

In response, the Government argued that the matter was not justiciable or subject to judicial review because aliens have no “claim of right” to enter the United States, and, because exclusion of aliens is “a fundamental act of sovereignty” by the political branches, review of an exclusion decision “is not within the province of any court, unless expressly authorized by law.”

Chief Justice Roberts in his written majority judgment was prepared to assume without deciding that the ban was reviewable, notwithstanding consular non-reviewability or any other statutory non-reviewability issue and proceeded on that basis.

As to the substantive arguments that the Proclamation was not a valid exercise of the President’s power since the relevant provision of the law conferred only a residual power to temporarily halt the entry of a discrete group of aliens engaged in harmful conduct and that it was in further violation because it discriminated on the basis of nationality in the issuance of immigrant visas, he was of the opinion that the President possessed the power to restrict the entry of foreigners to the United States based on national security concerns. The Chief Justice held that the text of the relevant provision granted the President a broad discretion to suspend the entry of aliens into the United States and found that The President had lawfully exercised that discretion based on his findings—following a worldwide, multi-agency review—that entry of the covered aliens would be detrimental to the national interest.

He quoted the relevant provision-

“Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

And he reasoned as follows, “By its terms, it exudes deference to the President in every clause. It entrusts to the President the decisions whether and when to suspend entry (“[w]henever [he] finds that the entry” of aliens “would be detrimental” to the national interest); whose entry to suspend (“all aliens or any class of aliens”); for how long (“for such period as he shall deem necessary”); and on what conditions (“any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate”). It is therefore unsurprising that we have previously observed that [it] vests the President with “ample power” to impose entry restrictions in addition to those elsewhere enumerated.”

This reasoning comes pretty close to arguing that the discretion of the President in this regard is absolute,  although it seems that he may not discriminate on grounds of religion. Indeed, this limitation was the basis of Justice Sotomayor’s dissent. She referred to the President’s anti-Muslim sentiments as expressed in various communications and dismissed the majority’s opinion that the ban was a matter of national security. According to her judgment,

“The United States of America is a Nation built upon the promise of religious liberty. Our Founders honored that core promise by embedding the principle of religious neutrality in the First Amendment. The Court’s decision today fails to safeguard that fundamental principle. It leaves undisturbed a policy first advertised openly and unequivocally as a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” because the policy now masquerades behind a façade of national-security con cerns. But this repackaging does little to cleanse Presidential Proclamation No. 9645 of the appearance of dis crimination that the President’s words have created. Based on the evidence in the record, a reasonable observer would conclude that the Proclamation was motivated by anti-Muslim animus.

Cataloguing a number of circumstances where the President’s communications had exhibited animus towards Muslims, she concluded-

“…the issue before us is not whether to denounce” these offensive statements. Ante, at 29. Rather, the dispositive and narrow question here is whether a reasonable observer, presented with all “openly available data,” the text and “historical context” of the Proclamation, and the “specific sequence of events” leading to it, would conclude that the primary purpose of the Proclamation is to disfavor Islam and its adherents by excluding them from the country… The answer is unquestionably yes…”

Ironically, in the same judgment the majority overruled its earlier  decision in which it had upheld the forcible relocation of US citizens to concentration camps, based solely and explicitly on race. However, CJ Roberts considered it “wholly inapt to liken that morally repugnant order to a facially neutral (sic) policy denying certain foreign nationals the privilege of admission…”

There exists in law the concept of indirect discrimination. According to the Australian Human rights Commission, indirect discrimination occurs when there is an unreasonable rule or policy that is the same for everyone but has an unfair effect on people who share a particular attribute,…for example: It could be indirect disability discrimination if the only way to enter a public building is by a set of stairs because people with disabilities who use wheelchairs would be unable to enter the building.

Indirect discrimination is unlawful if the discrimination is based on certain attributes protected by law, such as a person’s race, sex, pregnancy, marital or relationship status, breastfeeding, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex status. Some limited exceptions and exemptions apply.

To my mind, while the proclamation did not fit neatly into this category, as it was not the same for everyone, it nevertheless constituted a kind of reverse indirect discrimination, if you will,  whereby on the ostensible basis of national security, an exclusion had an unfair effect on people who shared a particular attribute-the Islamic faith.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP AND PRIME MINISTER TERESA MAY !!
Donald Trump’s press conference with Theresa May at Chequers lasted 50 minutes, and took in everything from transatlantic relations to immigration, Boris Johnson, attacks on the media and at least one outright lie by the US president.

On UK-US relations: ‘the highest level of special’
May: “No two countries do more together than ours to keep their people safe and prosperous.”

Trump: “The relationship between our two nations is indispensable to liberty, justice and peace. The traditions of freedom, sovereignty and the true rule of law were our shared gift to the world and we must never cease to be united in their defence and renewal.”

“I would give our relationship with the UK the highest level of special. Am I allowed to go higher than that? I am not sure. It’s the highest level of special. They are very special people, it’s a very special country and as I said, I have a relationship because my mother was born in Scotland.”

On the Sun story and Brexit: ‘it’s called fake news’

Trump: “I didn’t criticise the prime minister. I have a lot of respect for the prime minister. Unfortunately there was a story that was done which was generally fine but it didn’t put in what I said about the prime minister. I said tremendous things. Fortunately we tend to record stories now so we have it for your enjoyment if you’d like it, but we record when we deal with reporters, it’s called fake news, we solve a lot of problems with the good old recording instrument …

“I said very good things about Theresa May. I don’t think they put it in, but that’s all right. I said to Theresa May I wanted to apologise, but she said ‘Don’t worry, it’s only the press’.”

“As far as advice, I did give her a suggestion – I wouldn’t say advice – and I think she found it maybe too brutal. Because I could see that. I don’t know if you remember what I said. I gave her a suggestion, not advice. I wouldn’t want to give her advice. I could fully understand why she thought it was a little bit tough.”

“You can’t walk away because if she walks away then it means she’s stuck. You can’t walk away, but you can do other things. She can do what my suggestion was.”

May: “Lots of people give advice on how to negotiate with the European Union. My job is actually getting out there and doing it.”

“I also want to have a good trade relationship with the European Union. This isn’t an either/or. We don’t just replace one with the other.”

On Boris Johnson: ‘he’ll be a great prime minister’
Trump: “They asked about Boris Johnson, how would he be as a prime minister. I said he’ll be a great prime minister. He’s been very nice to me, he’s been saying very good things about me as president. I think he thinks I’m doing a great job, I am doing a great job, that I can tell you, just in case you haven’t noticed.”

“But Boris Johnson would, I think, be a great prime minister. But I also said that this incredible woman, right here, is doing a fantastic job, a great job. And I mean that.”

On Vladimir Putin and Russia: ‘I’d have a good relationship with him’
May: “In particular, on Russia, I thanked President Trump for his support in responding to the appalling use of a nerve agent in Salisbury, after which he expelled 60 Russian intelligence officers.”

“What is important in meeting with President Putin – and I’ve welcomed the meeting with President Putin – is that the president goes into this, as he is doing, from a position of strength, and also from a position of unity in Nato.”

Trump: “I think I’d have a very good relationship with President Putin if we spent time together. I may be wrong. Other people have said that, it didn’t work out. But I’m different than other people. I think that we’re being hurt very badly by the witch-hunt, I would call it the rigged witch-hunt.”

On immigration: ‘it has been very bad for Europe’
Trump: “I think it has been very bad for Europe. Europe is a place I know very well and I think that what has happened is very tough. It’s a very tough situation. I mean, you see the same terror attacks that I do. We see them a lot. I just think it’s changing the culture. It’s a very negative thing for Europe. I think it’s very negative … And I know it’s politically, not necessarily correct, to say that, but I’ll say it and I’ll say it loud.”

May: “The UK has a proud history of welcoming people who are fleeing persecution to our country. We have a proud history of welcoming people to our country to contribute to our economy and contribute to our society. Over the years, overall immigration has been good for the UK. It’s brought people with different backgrounds, different outlooks here to the UK and we’ve seen them contributing to our society and our economy.”

On the US press: ‘CNN is fake news’
Trump (when CNN asks a question): “No, no, John Roberts go ahead. CNN’s fake news, I don’t take questions from CNN. CNN is fake news. I don’t take questions from CNN. John Roberts of Fox. Let’s go to a real network.”

Trump (who was in Scotland the day after the EU referendum, not the day before): “If you remember I was opening Turnberry the day before Brexit and we had an unbelievably large number of reporters there. Everybody was there, I guess, because of Brexit, and they all showed up on the 9th hole overlooking the ocean, and said, ‘What’s going on?’. All they wanted to talk about was Brexit and they asked for my opinion, and I think you’ll agree that I said I think Brexit will happen and it did happen. And then we cut the ribbon. And the reason I felt it was going to happen was because of immigration.”

THE PARTY’S OVER – FBI AND DOJ MUST TURN OVER ALL SPY DOCUMENTS TO CONGRESS UNREDACTED

    WUH LOSS
    NOW THE FUN SHOULD BEGIN!

n a move that could kill two birds with one stone, the White House has ordered the FBI and DOJ to turn over all documents on Obama’s spy Stefan Halper. This could be monumental as everyone knows that President Trump would love to fire both Christopher Wray and Rod Rosenstein but politics just won’t allow it. You may or may not realize that the ultimate decider of what is classified and what is not is the president of the United States.

There is no one who can overrule him including the Supreme Court. If either or both refuse to turn over the information, President Trump would be free to fire them and appoint temporary replacements of his choice without Senate consent. He could pick the most radical replacements he wants and they would serve until the Senate confirms a replacement.

    From The Daily Caller

California Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, the chairman of the House Intelligence panel, has been locked in a heated battle with the DOJ over the records. The Republican has accused the DOJ and FBI of obstruction for refusing to release the documents. Nunes has led an investigation into potential surveillance abuses at the FBI and DOJ during its collusion investigation.

Halper’s activities have been dubbed “Spygate” by President Donald Trump and many of his supporters. They argue that the FBI took improper steps to keep tabs on members of the Trump campaign. Democrats and other Trump critics have defended the use of an informant, saying they are common law enforcement tools.

But Republicans have also pointed to the timing of Halper’s activities and questioned whether the FBI was investigating the Trump campaign earlier than the bureau has previously acknowledged.

The problem for Democrats is that once this information has been made public it could raise more questions necessitating even more releases. It could snowball all out of control.

    MY FRIENDS HAL & DPD
THIS IS HOW CRAZY THE BUFFOON GOT THE DUMBOCRATS

LAWMAKERS ACCUSE RYAN OF “POLITICAL STUNT” WHEN THEY REALIZE THEIR OWN ANTI-ICE BILL BE ACTUALLY BE VOTED ON

The Democratic party is falling apart before it’s very eyes. Three Democrats wrote a bill to abolish ICE, but it was never a serious attempt and when Paul Ryan agreed to bring it to the floor for a vote the three went into panic mode. The last thing in the world they want to do is to go on record supporting the abolishment of ICE.

It was just to play up to their base, the illegal immigrants. When their bluff was called, all three promised to vote against the very bill that they wrote. The bill was written by Reps. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Adriano Espaillat of New York. They are even criticizing Paul Ryan for bringing it up for a vote.

    From The Daily Caller

Reps. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Adriano Espaillat of New York introduced the Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement Act earlier Thursday, which would abolish ICE within one year of enactment, and also assemble a commission tasked with setting up a new immigration enforcement agency.

Hours later, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced he planned to bring the proposed “Abolish ICE” bill to the floor, reported The Hill.

The three congressmen promptly released a joint statement accusing Ryan of not taking their bill seriously, and as an act of protest, they will vote down their own legislation and instead use the opportunity to discuss Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, President Donald Trump’s zero-tolerance immigration policy and ICE. (RELATED:

“We know Speaker Ryan is not serious about passing our ‘Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement System Act,’ so members of Congress, advocacy groups, and impacted communities will not engage in this political stunt.” Story coming soon.”

New: the 3 Dem reps who introduced the Abolish ICE bill — Pocan, Jaypal, and Espaillat — will vote no on their bill if it’s brought to the floor.

“We know Speaker Ryan is not serious about passing our ‘Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement System Act,’ so members of Congress, advocacy groups, and impacted communities will not engage in this political stunt.”

What do they mean Ryan isn’t taking the bill seriously? We know. The idea was to propose the bill with the expectation that it would not be allowed to get an up or down vote. Neither they nor their fellow Democrats want their vote to go on the record. Another pathetic attempt by the left to wage a propaganda campaign against Republicans that failed badly.

    @ HAL & DPD
THIS IS THE EFFECT OF THE BUFFOON

A Case Study of Black Trump Supporters
    9
    Shares
    3 3

When you read comments from Kanye West and Candace Owens, you might be tempted to think that black Americans are moving away from the left. Then, you can look at statistics from the Romney-Obama election and see that even then, young black men were embracing the right. Trump’s presidency has only served to accelerate the matter, and now Republican groups are reporting more new black voters than at any point since the Civil Rights movement.

It almost seems impossible that so many people could be waking up even while mainstream media screams about Trump’s racism 24/7. Yet, it is somehow true. Today, we’re going to peel back the curtains and see what is really driving this change.

    Antonia Okafor

Sometimes, the best way to understand a group or movement is to look closely at a prominent individual within. We’re going to be doing that with Antonia Okafor. She recently took to the media to explain her change of heart in the political arena, and the details of her personal journey reveal much about the growing wave of black Americans heading to the right.

In her interview, Okafor explained how she voted for Obama twice. She believed in the Democrats’ causes and trusted them to do what is best for women, black Americans and minorities in general.

By 2016, her views were completely flipped. She owned and carried a gun. She also voted for Trump. While she was ahead of the curve, her move was indicative of a now mainstream movement of black voters.

In her own words, it all boiled down to “common sense.” Obama’s eight years didn’t do anything to improve her life or the lives of the minority circles she saw. Instead, Obama’s nice words lacked any follow through on policy, and things actually got worse.

As Okafor’s own station in life improved in opposition to that of most black Americans, she realized that self-reliance was the key issue. Republicans are the voice of self-reliance and true empowerment.

She explained that education is the most important tool for self-reliance, and firearms are the second most important. These revelations led to an inevitable conclusion: it was time to switch parties.

    Broader Lessons

So, how do Okafor’s lessons on self-reliance reflect the larger movement that we’re witnessing? For starters, it highlights the primary problem with the Democratic Party. They’ve long relied on identity politics to amass voters, and it’s a technique that really amounts to nothing more than a parlor trick. Appealing to ideological monoliths doesn’t offer real substance or real empowerment.

Instead, it appeals to victimhood. Unfortunately for the left (and fortunately for the nation), black Americans are losing their sense of victimhood. With unemployment levels hitting all-time lows, they’re seeing opportunity at levels that have never existed before. Never in any country in the history of the world have they been in a better place, and they’re noticing.

Obama and the Democrats had every opportunity to win the continued loyalty and votes of the majority of black Americans. Their social agenda failed in every measurable way. Black incarceration, unemployment, low wages and general social problems all held steady under America’s first black President. His promises were empty.

Then, the accused racist came along and immediately started making things better. People will believe the money in their pocket over the cries of mainstream media any day, and the result is record numbers of black voters switching to the right.

These ideas hit full stride when you look past Obama. Since he left office, the Democrats have outdone themselves in their hysteria. Their increasingly bold predictions of inevitable doom continue to fall flat.

In their panic, they have searched for a new voter block. Since they won’t abandon identity politics, they need victims. As you have no doubt realized, the new group is illegal immigrants. It used to be all immigrants and minorities, but that has rapidly changed.

Trump and his group have worked hard to improve conditions for immigrants and minorities. The only true group of victims left are people who don’t fall under Trump’s jurisdiction.

It all sounds dramatic, but it’s actually inevitable. When Trump’s policies didn’t create the massive wave of victims the Democrats need for votes, they got desperate. They moved on to their next “cause” before most of the previous voting groups were ready to change. They effectively pushed black and minority voters to the right.

And, this is exactly what the prominent figures in the new movement are saying. Democrats care more about illegal immigrants than the minority groups they used to claim to champion. Abandoned by the party, they looked for a new political home, and it’s only natural that they turn to the leader who has brought them measureable gain.

To bring this full circle, Okafor’s story reflects what we have seen with Candace Owens and Kanye West. They predicted and heralded the shift, but it’s the individuals who comprise the movement that matter. They are not a monolith, and their educated, informed votes can only be won through a combination of promise and follow through.

The latter is where the Democrats continue to stumble, and it is where Trump has exceeded all expectations. His “tired of winning” comment seemed like hyperbole. A year and a half into his presidency, it now feels ordinary.

All of this is to say something simple. When you acknowledge the individuals within the intersection (or whatever language liberals use these days), you grant the natural respect people grow to appreciate. When you serve the individual, you promote true empowerment.

Like Okafor said, education and firearms are the ultimate equalizers. It is by protecting the autonomy and freedom of everyone, minorities included, that really helps them. Rather than winning the favor of the mob, Trump’s leadership is winning the hearts of Americans. It’s sustainable, valuable and powerful. And, it is the true meaning in making America great again.

  14. @Dr Daily Caller Scholar, the blog folks here are disinterested in this newly evolving major global predicament between US and Russia and alas I alone can’t continue to match your analytical prowess on this matter 😎…

…thus suffice to say again, be very, very careful what you ask for! By the way…for those who deal in some factual foundation…plz note:

The Devin Nunes (Conway) committee issued their Republican report of bad tradecraft and no Russian help to Trump and it has been completely discredited by 1) its own contradictory details, 2) its own senior member Gowdy who said “I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump” and of course the more complete Senate report whose Republican chairman summarily said : “The committee has spent the last 16 months reviewing the sources, tradecraft and analytic work underpinning the intelligence community assessment and sees no reason to dispute the conclusions”.

The basic conclusion was the assessment that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election to help Donald Trump win …they concluded that was “accurate and on point”.

Looka, you said you dont give two hoots about the facts and realties of this amazing spy spectacle and you just having mocking fun as you await the rapture this apparently presages so it really is futile pointing out the incredulity of the continued right wing arguments

    …So continue to mock bro…

Let Trump declassify whatever he wants ..let him replace Wray and/or Rosenstein….and then await a rapturous US political explosion…one I suspect most Republicans and folks like you woukd never truly desire.

So again, just be very, very careful what you wish for. The genius ‘appointed’ Mueller by his grand firing of one FBI Director …let’s see who he blames if his superior intellect gets him entangled in far greater jeopardy with an untenable dismissal of another FBI Director or declassification of data that slides him deeper in the muck of operatives seeking dirt from a Russian operatives or taking millions of dollars from Russian principals.

    Have fun doc….mock away!🤣

There are many political lessons we can learn from Heaven and Hell. While it is open to everyone, one may only enter Heaven with a valid pass provided by the Son of God. Hell, however, requires no pass to enter.

As conservatives, we welcome legal immigrants to America. Our laws must be obeyed if you want to enter. Open borders, however, allows sex traffickers, terrorists, and drug dealers in to threaten our nation.

The former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under Obama, Jason Furman, told CNBC that the Trump economy is growing faster than the numbers indicate. Attributing the growth to the Trump tax cuts.

According to the Washington Free Beacon:
Jason Furman, chair of the Council of Economic Advisers under President Barack Obama, argued on CNBC Thursday that the economy is growing even faster than the commonly used government figure suggests.

CNBC’s Sara Eisen said people at the network were surprised to see the argument being argued by an Obama administration official.

.While the BEA estimated 2018 first quarter GDP growth at 2 percent annualized, Furman estimated growth at a much stronger 2.8 percent.

The economist credited the federal tax cuts, singed into law by President Donald Trump at the end of 2017, as being responsible for some economic growth.

This is surprising coming from a former Obama official. However, the numbers and the strong outlook on the economy are hard to argue. No matter what way you look at it.

NUMERIOUS DEMOCRATS DEMAND “UNFIT” PRESIDENT TRUMP TO NOT MEET WITH PUTIN
    STEVEN AHLE JULY 14, 2018

Once again we see members of the Democratic party that was a total failure during 8 years of Obama and the 18 months since President Trump has been in office trying to tell the ever successful president what he can and cannot do. Democrats didn’t cut taxes. They argued that it would increase the debt.

Today it was announced that income taxes paid in the 2nd quarter of 2018 has broken the all-time record. It’s true that the debt increased but that was due to RINO Paul Ryan’s 1.3 trillion dollar spending bill. President Trump said that cutting taxes would create more revenue because more people would be working and making higher salaries. He was right.

Democrats stood by as North Korea test-fired missile after missile and made zero headway in any type of negotiations. President Trump went head to head with Kim Jong-un and it has resulted in talks of denuclearization. Nothing is firm yet, but we are miles ahead of where we were under Obama. Now, these members of the House presume to tell a successful president how to do his job. They are truly pathetic.

Trump is scheduled to sit down with Putin on July 16, but Democrats are voicing concerns that the president is unfit at this time to discuss matters of national interest with the Russian leader, citing the president’s hardline remarks during this week’s NATO summit overseas.

“Mr. President, asserting these concerns gives us no pleasure. Frankly, we agree that an ongoing dialogue with Russia remains important to our country’s national security,” the Democrats wrote in a letter to Trump Friday. “Unfortunately, due to your constant expressions of sympathy for Vladimir Putin, your conflicts of interest, and your attacks on our closest allies, we do not have confidence that you can faithfully negotiate with the Russian leader, and we urge you to cancel the meeting.”

RIGHT AND LEFT LAWMAKERS IN STRUGGLE OVER THE RELEASE OF VITAL SPY DOCUMENTS

    STEVEN AHLE JULY 15, 2018

Democrats are scurrying around like rats jumping from a sinking ship. They are in total panic mode after the DOJ and the FBI were ordered to turn over all spying documents on Stefan Halper. And with good reason too. They wanted to be able to protect Barack Obama but now they can’t.

The investigation into Trump/Russia collusion started on July 31st, 2016. But it is believed that the Halper documents will show he contacted Carter Page on July 11th, 2016. That will bring into question who ordered the spying. Did it come from the Oval Office or from one of the agencies he was in charge of? We may soon know.

    The New York Times reported:

The White House has rebuffed concerns among American intelligence and law enforcement officials and ordered that more lawmakers be given access to classified information about an informant the F.B.I. used in 2016 to investigate possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to two American officials with knowledge of the decision.

Both the director of national intelligence and the director of the F.B.I. tried to keep the classified documents tightly restricted, fearing that a broader dissemination of operational reports and other sensitive material could lead to more leaks of detailed information about the role of the confidential F.B.I. informant.

Some American officials believe, in fact, the reason the White House made the decision was to provide political ammunition to President Trump’s Republican allies who have argued — without any evidence — that the F.B.I. investigation was opened in July 2016 as an effort to keep Mr. Trump from becoming president.

The White House declined to comment.

The F.B.I. files about the informant will now be available to all members of the Senate and House Intelligence Committees, instead of to just a group of congressional leaders known as the Gang of Eight. It is unclear whether Mr. Trump or a lower-level White House official authorized the move.

The controversy over the F.B.I. informant is one skirmish in a searing political battle that was renewed on Thursday during a contentious hearing convened by the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees that heard testimony from Peter Strzok, an F.B.I. agent who once ran the bureau’s investigation into the Trump campaign.

During the summer of 2016, the F.B.I. sent an informant to meet with two Trump campaign advisers after the bureau had received information that the two men had suspicious contacts linked to Russia. The informant, Stefan Halper, an American academic who teaches at Cambridge University in England, had meetings with both Carter Page and George Papadopoulos to gain a better understanding of their contacts with Russians.

The New York Times did not originally name Mr. Halper because of a general practice not to name confidential F.B.I. informants to preserve their safety. Mr. Halper’s name has now been widely reported.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-Va.), and House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) wrote a letter to Dan Coats asking him to withhold the information because it could give away methods used in investigations. That Schiff dared add his name to the mix is hilarious because he made the Democratic answer to the FISA investigation public after the FBI and the DOJ warned him about it. And that was released to everyone. This disclosure is for committee members only. If they don’t want it revealed, don’t let leaker Schiff know about it.

MORE JUICE FOR MY FAVOURITE FRIEND DPD THE TRUMP HATER

HILLARY ADVISER IS WORRIED AND THE REASON WHY IS HILARIOUS!
    STEVEN AHLE JULY 15, 2018

PHILIPPE REINES, A CLINTON ADVISER, IS SCARED. HE IS VERY SCARED. HE SAYS HE IS LIVING IN FEAR THAT MILLENNIALS WILL BE SWITCHING FROM THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY TO THE REPUBLICANS IN A BIG WAY.
That would spell disaster for the party and in his mind, for the country. The reason he is scared is that in February, the millennials will see the tax cut in their paychecks and decide that the Democrats lied to them and that Trump and the Republicans were right all along.

I don’t understand. Didn’t the Democrats tell us that if tax reform went through the lower classes would have to pay higher taxes? Out there right now are millions of millennials praying to God that their taxes don’t go up more than they can afford.

When they see the cut and realize they were lied to, they may decide (or come to realize) that all liberals lie because if they tell the truth, they can’t get elected.

As important as the millennials are, the liberals could have an even bigger problem. Blacks. The black unemployment under Obama was scandalous and much of it was their preference for illegal aliens over African Americans. But under Trump, the unemployment rate for Blacks has dropped to it’s lowest level since 1970.

How is that humanly possible? It’s because President Trump has changed the priorities. Illegal aliens no longer can pour across the border unchecked. Employers are worried about immigration raids and large fines.

As a result, they are forced to hire Americans and even better news for Blacks is that their real wages are going up after losing ground under 8 years of Obama.

    From The Daily Caller

Reines speculated that someone like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren would be good at tapping youth enthusiasm but went on to say he is fearful that Trump and GOP policies will begin to animate millennials, specifically when they see their taxes go down.

Donald Trump and his people want everyone to shut up, get over the election, Hillary Clinton go away, that’s in their best interest, but that’s not how it works. We are supposed to oppose what we disagree with. And I hope millennials don’t fall into a lull of accepting, this is what it is. God knows how many of them will see their taxes go down and base it just on that. But yeah, they are a key demographic that voted oddly in 2016, and I am not sure people understand how to get them to vote productively. In 2020.

Who are you going to believe, liberals or your lying paycheck? And what happens as we deport more criminal aliens and those who overstayed their visas? The crime rate will fall. Make no mistake Reines is not the only Democrat living in fear. They all are.

THE TRUMP HATERS IN CONGRESS NEED YOUR HELP SIR
    Dem Senator Smacks Schumer

Senator Chuck Schumer has been fearmongering to Democrats and the American public since Trump announced his Supreme Court pick. It looks like moderate Dem Senators are not buying what he is selling.

    According to Town Hall:
“I’ll be 71 years old in August, you’re going to whip me? Kiss my you know what,” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said of anyone trying to influence his vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, particularly Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Schumer said this week after Trump’s announcement ceremony that he’s going to fight Kavanaugh with “everything he’s got,” meaning he’s undoubtedly going to try and sway the members of his party to voting against the nominee. Yet, red state Democrats like Manchin plan on resisting those attempts. If anything, it seems Manchin is leaning toward “yes.”

“He has all the right qualities,” Manchin said of the nominee this week.

Vulnerable Sens. Joe Donnelly (IN), and Heidi Heitkamp (ND) also plan on making up their mind on SCOTUS sans Schumer’s input.

Schumer has led the resistance to President Trump. However, he has not offered up any solutions of his own.

    what are the people doing?
why are the democrats walking away?
    like this

I’m running for Senate as a Republican. My Democrat parents are so furious they’re backing my opponent
    — By Kevin Nicholson

My decision to be a Democrat was never a decision. It was just expected of me. It was understood. Born into a family of Democrats, my grandfather would often spend weekends talking to me about his respect for Franklin Roosevelt and his annoyance with President Reagan. I listened and absorbed, but was not yet ready to think critically about what I was told – or to decide for myself.

I love and miss my grandfather, but life has since taught me that thinking critically about the principles of the Democrat party is never encouraged because if you do, you have no choice but to leave – to walk away.

I was elected National President of the College Democrats of America in 1999, and now I’m a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in 2018. While the Democrats’ influence over my political philosophy defined a few years in my late teens and early twenties, that influence could not withstand the test of life and experience that made me a conservative as an adult. In contrast with my time as a Democrat, my evolution to becoming a conservative Republican was a fully mindful and deliberate decision, based on my life experiences that left me with no other option.

While my choice was made clear to me through the experience of my marriage, the birth of my three children, my acceptance of Jesus Christ as my savior, my time fighting in two wars, and my experience in business since leaving the Marine Corps, it came at personal cost.

My parents have since turned their back on me, my wife, their grandchildren, and their extended family. Adding to this, they decided to make the maximum contribution to my Democrat opponent in my campaign for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin, an intentional personal blow that made headlines across the country. It was deliberate – and it is a true representation of the intolerance of a political philosophy that stands on the false platform of tolerance.

I don’t enjoy talking about this highly personal experience, but as I see the #WalkAway movement gain momentum, I feel compelled to share my story. As #WalkAway grows, conservatives need to reach out to those who were raised to believe in a Democrat Party and a liberal political philosophy that does nothing to make them more successful.

Many others who have decided to leave the Democrat Party have also likely paid a personal price for their decision. And others are not yet ready to leave because of the judgement and ridicule they will undoubtedly receive from other Democrats – whether family, friends, or co-workers. Unfortunately, their fear is founded.

“The Democrat party is not the party of tolerance. It is not the party of acceptance. It is the party of intolerance. It is the party of closed doors, but open borders. It is the party of judgement. It is the party of identity politics.”

    SUPPORT KEVIN

The Democrat party is not the party of tolerance. It is not the party of acceptance. It is the party of intolerance. It is the party of closed doors, but open borders. It is the party of judgement. It is the party of identity politics. And that is why the #WalkAway movement is resonating. Because when you stop and ask yourself why you should be a Democrat, it is impossible to answer if you acknowledge the party’s hypocrisy, since it openly advocates for policies that encourage dependency and destroy opportunity for all of us.

As we look to the future, conservatives must aggressively reach out and welcome those who were not born into conservative families. We must continue to champion the dignity of all human life, conserve and strategically invest our financial resources, and work to build a strong defense that secures our nation’s prosperity for all. This is how I will win my election against Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin this November, and also how we will win the future of this nation.

During my Senate race, I have learned that some establishment Republican circles are reluctant to accept new members to our party. Too many believe that they have a club that they control – and would like to keep it that way since it keeps them in power. Those who demand that people be Republicans from birth in order to have a voice in the conservative movement would shrink, not grow our party. And their short-sighted perspective on people’s ability to mature as they experience life would keep us from bringing new Republicans into the fold, like Donald Trump has done. We need to push beyond these voices, and welcome new conservatives in order to secure our nation’s future.

If you’ve decided to #WalkAway or plan to, I encourage you to find strength in those who have already walked the path. Find strength in the principles of conservatism that are founded in faith, liberty, and the Constitution. And find strength in those who have walked the path before you: President Ronald Reagan, President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, former U.S. Senator Phil Gramm – and so many others. Find strength in our decision to choose to believe in the human capacity to succeed when free, as you do the same.

THIS IS WHAT TRUMP’S BASE THINKS THAT IS IMPORTANT TODAY

Just How Strong is the Economy Under President Trump? New Economic Indicator has the Answer. Liberals Will Hate This.

You can’t go a single day in this media saturated world we live in without seeing the left spewing some kind of hatred and anger toward President Trump, but whether they like it or not, the commander-in-chief is having a profoundly positive impact on our economy.

That’s right. Despite the hatred, Americans of all backgrounds are enjoying economic growth and prosperity under Trump’s leadership and there’s actual, tangible proof it’s true.

According to statistics from Fox News Research, the number of Americans who are currently working part-time jobs because their hours were cut back at work or because they couldn’t find a full-time job has dropped by over one million since June 2016, during former President Barack Obama’s presidency.

Unemployment currently is hovering around 4% after going as low as 3.8% in May after 223,000 jobs were added to the economy, and record-low unemployment levels have been hit in 2018 for the Hispanic and black communities.

The Hill notes that a CBS News poll from May found that “35 percent of Americans believe Trump’s policies are ‘a great deal’ responsible for the economy’s performance. Another 33 percent said the president is ‘somewhat’ responsible.”

The fact the economy is beginning to thrive shouldn’t come as a great surprise. Trump is a business man who understands what it takes to be successful in the free market. Thus, he’s gone out of his way to pull the federal government out of the private sector bit by bit.

For every new regulation created, Trump’s policy has been to discard two others, thus, piece by piece, these unhealthy restrictions on businesses are being done away with. This means that companies have more profit, which translates into business expansion, the creation of more jobs, and ultimately, of more wealth.

Let’s hope this trend continues throughout the rest of Trump’s time in office. It likely will, which means Trump has a good chance of being reelected.

WILL MIA WE GOT THIS BE THIS EFFECTIVE?

FLASHBACK: 7 Times Obama Got OWNED By Putin
    Read more at http://trumptrainnews.com/articles/flashback-7-times-obama-got-owned-by-putin#Jb6v6bZR1Wsflv7U.99
No matter what you think of the Trump-Putin meeting in Helsinki, Finland, one thing’s clear: Trump was left a massive mess by Barack Obama, and Russia was in the middle of that mess. We have a blow by blow list of all of the ways that Barack Obama made this mess, and how Trump is trying to clean it up as diplomatically as possible.

Remember, Obama, let Putin run free to do all sorts of damage, including the invasion of Ukraine and the ramping up in Syria. Before all of that happened, there was a chain of events that got us to this point. The last one is by far the most dangerous part of Obama’s failed legacy on Russia.

    1 THE RUSSIA RESET
In the 2009 incident, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was supposed to be “resetting” relations after the Bush administration had retaliated against Russia’s invasion of neighboring Georgia in 2008. They presented a “reset” button, which was supposed to be like the “Easy Button” they sell at Staples. The gimmick backfired miserably after the translators accidentally put the Russian word for “overcharge” on it, a screw-up that would set the tone for the Obama era of Russian relations.

2 Obama Official Hillary Clinton Gives Away Uranium
Speaking of “overcharge”, Hillary Clinton might have done that. Hillary’s State Department approved the sale of a Canadian company known as Uranium One to Rosatom in 2013, backed by the Russian state, which has assets in the U.S. Uranium is a key material for making nuclear weapons. The deal enables Russia to control about 20 percent of U.S. uranium production capacity. An FBI informant, Douglas Campbell, alleged that Moscow paid millions of dollars to a lobbying firm to help Bill Clinton’s charities in order to influence Hillary Clinton. Maybe Putin didn’t own the Clintons, but he might have rented them for a while, as the old saying goes.

3 Obama’s Retreat On Missile Defense
The Bush administration negotiated with allies in the Czech Republic and Poland to put American missile defense units in their countries in 2008. Russia fought this with fiery rhetoric and threats, which caused the incoming Obama administration to scrap the Bush-era plan. This was the subject that Obama was referring to in the “hot mic” video with Medvedev in 2012. The Obama administration did eventually move forward with an installation in Romania in 2013, but not before emboldening the Russians and hampering American defensive capabilities.

    4.) Obama’s Sanctions Were A Joke
Whether it was the Russian repression of its citizens, assassinations on foreign soil or the invasion of Ukraine, the Obama answer was sanctions. The idea was to mess with the business dealings of powerful Russians to impact their behavior. It didn’t work but was the cure-all solution to problems that arose.

5.) Obama After 2016: ‘We Choked’
President Obama admitted that they “sort of choked” on the matter of Russian meddling, with the extent of his response being that he told Putin to face to face to “cut it out” in September of 2016. Their secret weapon? Releasing personal information about Putin’s family, which revealed corruption in Putin’s political party, and even crafting a large cybersecurity exercise as a public threat to Russia. For some reason, that didn’t stop Putin from allowing election interference that year. Strange, huh?

6 Obama Refused To Weaponize Space
Obama campaigned in 2008 on the missile defense issue, with the sort of idealism that would have fallen flat during the Cold War. He made an issue out of efforts to deploy missile defense capabilities in outer space and announced the world that he would not stand for it. Unfortunately, Russia and China have no reservations about this, and now have a head start in developing such capabilities. Obama doesn’t even get an ‘A’ for effort on that one.

    7 Obama’s Missile Gap
According to Fox News, “The Pentagon’s new nuclear posture review calls for the development of two new “low-yield” tactical nukes to match the Russian threat. Nuclear-tipped cruise missiles were removed from U.S. Navy warships during President George H.W. Bush’s administration and fully scrapped under President Obama, according to defense officials. Congress had urged the Obama administration to take the cruise missile threat from Russia seriously, aides told Fox News on Thursday.”

Vladimir Putin Extends Offer to Robert Mueller, Democratic Heads EXPLODE
By Andrew West July 16, 2018
There is a strange and pervasive perversion of political pontification that the American progressives are playing with these days, and it threatens us all with a doomsday from the east.
You see, the left is wholly convinced that President Donald Trump is some sort of Kremlin double agent, whose entire reason for becoming President was to advance the agenda of one Vladimir Putin and the Russian state.

Just think about how entirely farcical this sounds: The left, who thinks that Donald Trump is a xenophobic racist, is only interested in becoming the leader of the free world, in order to brown nose a the Russians. That would make Donald Trump the worst xenophobe of all time, especially when you consider how many immigrants he’s married.

Now, as the Russian government and the US intelligence agencies find themselves in a bit of a pickle, Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have met in Finland, with Rod Rosenstein’s latest allegations of campaign meddling rearing their ugly head a number of times.
Putin, who was almost torn from his chair by the strength of Donald Trump’s handshake, said that he would be more than willing to let Robert Mueller and his team come to Russia and participate in the questioning of those he has indicted.

And when asked whether he would extradite the 12 Russians allegedly involved, Putin instead detailed a plan, which Trump called an “incredible offer.”

Putin offered to question the 12 indicted for meddling in the election, and added that Mueller’s team of investigators could be present for questioning, if U.S. officials would “reciprocate.” He suggested this would mean Russian agents could be present for questioning U.S. officers “of interest” to them.
Meanwhile, Putin suggested he favored Trump in the election, saying, “Isn’t it natural to be sympathetic towards a person who is willing to restore the relationship with our country?” But he maintained there was no election interference.

During the debates leading up to the 2016 election, President Trump was repeatedly hounded by democratic candidate Hillary Clinton over his willingness to work hand in hand with Russia to restore the strained relationship between the two nuclear super powers. When Trump responded with common sense and logic, the left then began attempting to smear then-candidate Trump as some sort of Kremlin asset.

When we start taking a good, hard look at exactly how much Donald Trump has accomplished in the last 18 months of being President, we find ourselves a bit awestruck.

Well, that is, for those of us looking at the facts and not being spun by the talking heads of the corporately controlled media that we find on television and in the mainstream. These outlets have no problem with their unabashed, out-in-the-open opinions of the President being taken as fact by their viewers, yet they continue to hurl insinuations of “fake news” at those of us on the world wide web, patriotically countering them.

Remember folks, the mainstream media thinks that this is a contest for money, not a fight to keep our nation the bastion of freedom that it is. CNN has no interest in a well oiled machine, pumping out prosperity and peace because they can’t sell that. They need Trump to be salacious, ineffective, offensive, or just plain wrong, otherwise, why would anyone watch their stations?
So, quietly, and out of the purview of these progressive pontificators, American conservatives are making enormous moves.
President Trump’s re-election campaign and groups backing his agenda raised nearly $33 million in just the last three months, an explosion of support driven by small donors, the groups have reported to the Federal Election Commission.

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence’s re-election campaignraised $8.3 million and, when added to the money collected by its two associated groups, the total was $17.7 million in the second reporting quarter. The campaign has $33 million on hand.
It also sped up its shift to small donors. In the new report, it said that 98.5 percent of fundraising was from small donors, though the total was $2.3 million less than the first quarter.
And the super PAC backing the president’s agenda, America First Action and its nonprofit affiliate, America First Policies, raised another $15 million.

These totals and the amount of time it took to procure them also blew Barack Obama’s reelection campaign out of the water, shattering the leftist myth that President Trump is wildly unpopular and a drain on our nation.
Given the United States’ recent conservative awakening, and the hard shift to the right that we are seeing in our everyday lives, there is little surprise that Donald Trump is already stacking his coffers full of cashola. Now the only question will be is if the left can somehow claim that Trump needed Russia to get elected, even though we have ample evidence that his ascent to power was truly the will of We The People.

    dpD;

    Yes!

I think it is all downhill from here on as Trump is made to come to grips with the enormity and possible consequences of his actions. We will see how many patriots there are in the GOP who will do the right thing in the circumstances, as it is pellucidly clear to anyone who can connect fluorescent red dots in a background of black ones, that ALL the available evidence trumpets that Trump has long sold out to Putin and will always put Putin’s interests before those of his Country (The USA) and there is only one clear remedy that is in the hands of the GOP congress and senate. (Note that all the leaks over the past 2 years have been corroborated in the indictments that have been published so far).

Failure of the Congess to act quickly will condemn the US to a decline and fall reminscent to that of the Roman Empire or even of the USSR. T’Inniss, this is where the GOG and MAGOG analogy might enter the picture. Where is Bushtea when we need him?

But, I really do not expect the GOP component of Congress to act, given their own craven and self serving intransigence over the past 1 1/2 years. So I think we all should buckle we seat belts a further notch or so, for a rough ride.
