Dear Prime Minister

I find myself in the unenviable position where politicians from both political parties see me as an enemy. As such, I expect attacks from time to time. However I do not expect or appreciate being attacked or lied upon from the floor of the Honourable House of Assembly, by a minister of the Crown who knew that he was lying while he was speaking.

On Tuesday, December 5, 2017 Minister Stephen Lashley stated in the House that the Rock Hall Freedom Village Project is being held up by my brother’s refusal to move to allow completion. Further, he alleged that I bore responsibility for the hold-up.

    Further, he offered, at his own expense, to travel to Barbados to speak to the relevant authorities. I rang the ministry and spoke to a William Layne and explained the idea to him.
    He rudely cut the conversation short and directed me to the university and ministry of education. I tried explaining that these were more financial vocational qualifications with a fit in the ministry of finance, but he did not want to know.

    I have simply given an outline of an experience for the record. Mr Layne could respond by stating why he thought it was not an issue for the ministry. But Sandy Scott is there to confirm our discussion.

    Here is a little history both GP and Layne attended the same elementary school, GP may have been “brighter” then and he certainly may be “brighter” in his field and Layne is “brighter” in his. GP is allowing boyhood interaction of 60 plus years to cloud his view.

    I would comment further but there is more in the mortar than the pestle……

    Chris Sinckler and David Thompson as well as the whole DLP protected Leroy Parris. Wanna slow for that’s one of the reasons the Commissioner Darwin Dottin was sent on leave.

    Guys on Mayers was the man hired to get rid of Dottin who wanted to charge Parris who did not turn up for court when he was to appear. Wanna got short memories.

    The High Court with judges hired by the Prime Minister set aside the arrest warrant for Leroy Parris after successful arguments by his attorney drunken Michael.

    Corruption of the highest when Chris Sinckler got Parris wife 2 year old Jaguar after DLP came to power.

    Layne and Carrington, from NIS, found favour with Erskine Griffith who dragged them through the Public Service despite their obvious deficiencies. Layne was Supervisor of Insurance and then he went on to become Director of NIS. In each instance, Carrington succeeded Layne.

    The Revenue Commissioner should be the one enquiring about the source of funds to purchase these items. And if income tax was paid on those funds. It won’t happen though, the Revenue Commissioner is now employed by a board that is under the control of the Minister of Finance.

    I went to Chefette to represent a worker who took SIX CHIPS after working from 12:00 noon to 11:30 p.m. she claimed that she asked the supervisor, who in turn said that he did not hear. The place was closing and the chips were destined for the garbage and still they fired.

    The termination letter said that she was dismissed for taking chips and being dishonest by saying that she asked the supervisor.

    Apparently, she went to the server and said that she had asked the supervisor. She took only six. An assistant manager saw her with the chips and questioned her. The assistant manager then went to the supervisor and then read the riot act. Of course, he then claimed that he did not hear the request.

    Result – dismissal for six chips.

    There was no other side. She was brought into the meeting, never asked to respond to the allegations and dismissed. She was not even called upon to speak in her own defence.

    The chairman made some opening remarks, I then responded to his opening. He and the other manager who constituted then asked to be excused. They returned with a decision to dismiss.

    At the end of the day, ALL OF US “stood idly by” and ALLOWED politicians, their yard-fowl consultants and supporters to “mash up (Barbados) with a lotta shiite (now even literally)……..

    I recall as a boy, being with my father as he drove through villages on Sundays, and the smell of rice and peas, baked pork or chicken filling the atmosphere was the norm.

    That is a thing of the past………. because nowadays on Sundays, Barbadians are seen in long queues at Price Mart, KFC and Chefette waiting to purchase fast foods.

    Yet, while some come to this forum writing about “slaves,” “minority groups” and how Haloutte treats his Chefette employees………Bajans support him to the extent he could brag about opening 17 restaurants…….. so… who cares about him paying “slave wages,” or KFC selling salty, greasy chicken?

    Barbadians see themselves as being superior to other Barbadians based on skin texture and tone; “quality” of hair; school attended; type of home; job; car, etc………..

    Many in this forum criticize Bizzy and “COW” Williams…….. a black customer was assaulted by a white manager in one of Bizzy’s hardware stores. Bizzy’s response to the incident was the manager was tired and transferred him to another location. A man decided to stage a protest as a result.

    On the day of the protest, the man was ALONE………… and black Bajans CONTINUE to support the hardware store.

    But Bajans would cease supporting my business, if I were to increase my one door shop to two doors, because they believe I’m making too much money.

    We complain about Trinidadian ownership of many of our indigenous businesses. But would find excuses to save our money with Republic Bank, rather than the credit unions…… or shop at Massy instead of Carlton, Channel or Savings Plus supermarkets.

    Barbadians believe products made in Barbados are of inferior quality………. but would PAY TOP DOLLAR for “knock off” products made in “sweat shops” in Indonesia, China, Turkey, Sri Lanka and the USA.

    I know many Barbadians who are awaiting special jobs, but Guyanese and Jamaicans come to this island and open bars as a means of income. Check the old Fairchild Street market………. “foreigners” out dey getting out licking…….. Guyanese and Jamaicans supporting their own and Bajans supporting them.

    And I can go on and on and on……..

    So, under these circumstances I have to say “YES”………… I’m ASHAMED to be a “BBBBB.”

    Check Barbados Today or your Whatsapp(?), in brief Mary Redmaan submitted a letter to June (PS) for early retirement and then had a change of mind and ask to have it withdrawn. Somewhere in the process the letter was leaked and circulated on Whatsapp.

    I have subsequently read the story.

    I don’t understand why the suspect is a civil servant. The average public officer has nothing to gain by leaking the letter. A more reasonable suspect would be someone or some body that has something to gain. For example Lodge School would gain a teacher, who actually spends time at the school if Mary were to retire. So tell me why shouldn’t suspicion be cast on the board of that school or one of its operatives.

    Give public officers a break.

    There is a big difference between someone who seeks to provide a public service as a union leader, and someone who is really just about promoting their own interests.
    Who in their right mind could think that after sending a letter to a whole Board AND to a government department that it would remain confidential…..?
