Grenville Phillips II, leader of Solutions Barbados

To: All Barbadian Workers and Managers

Are you being managed properly?ย  Are you managing others properly?

There are various ways of managing customerโ€™s complaints, including.

  • fear, intimidation and murder (North Korea).
  • embarrassed by being shouted at by the manager.
  • bored with a conversation with the HR department.

However, the most effective method at permanently solving customer complaints is the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.ย  It is a customer-focused international standard that has been successfully implemented in public services for the past 20 years.ย  It is time that Barbados also benefitted.

If you are unsure of what the ISO 9001 quality management system is all about, then you are invited to attend a free public town-hall meeting this Wednesday 29 November 2017 at 6:00 pm at Combermere School hall, where it will be explained to you in detail.

You will learn exactly what it is, how it can benefit all public workers and everyone else who uses Government services, and how you can start to implement it in your organisation and department.ย  At the end of the meeting, you will have the training and tools necessary to start implementing the system the following day.

After this, Boards, CEO’s and Managers of public services will have no excuse fr the: long lines, delays, late responses, misplaced files, downed computer systems, critical person is at lunch or is not at work, non-payment by credit card, deadline of 3:00 pm for receiving payments, unwritten regulations known only to the regulator, inconsistent regulations, not-at-this-branch responses, staff shortages, broken equipment, supply shortages, potholes, water shortages, sewage in the streets of Worthing, the same excuses, uncaring attitudes, and so on.

Do not delay in providing the public, and your fellow employees, with the relief that they desperately deserve, when it is now within your power to do so.

Grenville Phillips II

The shytes that do not want things to be right will find all sorts of thing to say about your plan. They will go into every nuke and cranny to prove that your proposal will not work. But, do not be distracted from the course. You cannot do any worse than what is already done to the island. The DLP has no vision. The BLP lost there’s as their greed and arrogance grew. You are in the best position to make a change that no Barbadian has ever seen before. Step up the campaigning Grenville. A little grassroots interaction is needed to convince those at the lower end of the stratification ladder that you are a man for the job. Make sure your next article addresses the reasons why the Mottley crew and Stuart fools refuse to address the information presented in the auditor general’s report. Hit them wait it hurts Grenville. THE TRUTH NEEDS NO BLASTED PROOF!! PUT THE PUMP IN THE CESS POOL!

I too have a problem wuth using it as an election gimmick re “anyone who does not comply with the ISO standards, will be fired”…..and he is not yet elected, which means public servants who are stubborn to change their embedded ways, will not vote for Solutions….there will be intense resistance, and they number over 25 thousand people/voters..

But Grenville cant take that back now…he said it already…

Re costs for manuals etc..,.its not cost prohibitive…unless ya get frauds overcharging for services/implementation and knowledge of ISO.

โ€œโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ..which means public servants who are stubborn to change their embedded ways, will not vote for Solutionsโ€ฆ.THERE WILL BE INTENSE RESISTANCE, and they number over 25 thousand people/votersโ€ฆ.โ€

    @ WW&C

I am equally surprised and taken aback by your above comments, because when I previously mentioned a similar observation, you were at the forefront of attacking me.

    Recall your previous post:

โ€œWell Well & Consequences Observing Blogger. November 10, 2017 at 6:48 AM #: That is what I donโ€™t understand Bushmanโ€ฆ.the simplest things to be implemented that are tried and true and already done in the most difficult of diverse societies and demographics with million size populations and Art will jump out to tell ya how difficult it would be to implement on an island with 25,000 civil servants, how hard it would be, how this, how that,,..pure shitโ€ฆ.when from his response itโ€™s obvious he knows nothing of the process.โ€

It just goes to show that perhaps you take delight in opposing for opposing sake.

    Additionally, you asked me:

โ€œWell Well & Consequences Observing Blogger. November 9, 2017 at 8:27 PM #: Artโ€ฆ.tell me where and when you have ever worked with ISO implementation. ..I can tell you that I have on more than one occasionโ€ฆthe second time, it took a mere 8 months, small company, it only has to be maintained and procedure observed to retain standingโ€ฆโ€

And for you to come now to make comments similar to mine, begs me to question the โ€œauthenticityโ€ of you having worked with ISO 9001.

  5. Let me state up front that I AM NOT AGAINST the implementation of ISO 9001.

I agree with Alex Currie 100% and elements of his article are consistent with my comments on the issue. However, I was ridiculed by the usual โ€œknow-it-allโ€ suspects.

We know that opposition to change, lack of productivity and time management skills are endemic in the civil service. Thatโ€™s why I previously mentioned a systematic approach must be taken to change the โ€œindigenous and organizational culturesโ€ in the public sector.

Anyone knowledgeable in the โ€œintricaciesโ€ of system analysis and design would be aware that a methodical process is required leading to implementing systems such as ISO 9001, since it is not as simplistic as installing a computer application program.

However, based on the fact that Solutions Barbados comprise of entrepreneurs, I must ask Grenville Phillips II if he and any member of his party have implemented ISO 9001 in their businesses, and if so, how the system has improved their business.

  6. Just said this on another thread, but it seems more suited here…
ISO9001 is essentially about identifying BEST PRACTICE and taking active and ongoing steps to enforce it…. It is what drives PRODUCTIVITY.
No surprise therefore that a country of brass bowl ANTI-BEST-PRACTICE idiots would object to such a proposal.

No question that it will be difficult to implement, good management DOES NOT COME EASY.
    SHIITE comes easy…

What is the FUNDAMENTAL difference between Barbados and Singapore?

PRODUCTIVITY โ€ฆ. which is driven by a focus on MERIT BASED PERFORMANCE in Singapore such that the VERY BEST talents are pushed to the front โ€“ while the national brass bowls are either jailed for spitting in the road โ€“ or hung for seeking to contaminate the youth with drugs.

In Barbados, the absolute worst, low-live, degenerates, (mostly Lawyers) โ€“ who mostly COULD NOT FIND WORK OTHERWISE, are sent to parliament โ€œso that they could feed their familiesโ€ฆโ€

These then make the MOST STUPID and backwards decisions based on the protection of yardfowl-brass bowls, and the โ€˜downpressionโ€™ of TRUE TALENT (such as Caswell and others) based on whether or not the person is willing to โ€œget thee behind themโ€ (kiss their donkey).

    As Man!!!
What do you think should become of a country such as Barbados?
โ€ฆnot EXACTLY what we are seeingโ€ฆ?

A people ALWAYS get exactly what they deserve.

Just Imagine a pack of complete Jackasses can pass a law requiring EVERY farmer to register with their inefficient shiite agency โ€“ in order to work as a farmer?
โ€ฆThis in order to deal with praedial larceny?
    Wunna ass holesโ€ฆ !!!!
What is to stop the damn THIEVES from registering as farmersโ€ฆ and continuing their stealingโ€ฆ. while multiple small farmers who have NOT the time to stand in a shiite line to register, are now made criminals by seeking to make a living?

ONLY A SATANIC CURSE can explain how so many Idiots can be assembled in one shiite place in this worldโ€ฆ.

    @ Artax
So when the hoards of lazy-ass workers vote AGAINST the country being productive what will they be achieving? …besides continued downgrades, poverty and serfdom?

We all get what we deserve in the end.

Art…my comments still hold…stop looking for holes.

My recent comments relate SOLELY….to …..Grenville stating BEFORE BEING ELECTED….that he will FIRE…, those who do not conform….

If he was ALREADY Prime Minister….he could go right ahead and fire those who reject and/or refuse to conform to ISO manual practices……something totally different to resisting voting for Grenville….because of his dictator style.

    So what’s your point.

Use your head….not your intense desure to show up others.

Again….I was referencing what the article writer said about using ISO as an “election gimmick”….and actually said as much.

THIS IS WHAT I SAID, in introducing what I meant:

I too have a problem wuth using it as an election gimmick re โ€œanyone who does not comply with the ISO standards, will be firedโ€โ€ฆ….

  12. WW&C

As usual, you are missing the fundamental point. Itโ€™s not a matter of showing up, you show up yourself because you are โ€œCONSISTENT in being INCONSISTENTโ€ and then you try to “back track” when challenged. And this is because you want to portray yourself as being a โ€œknow-it-all.โ€ There isnโ€™t any human being who is VERSED in ALL matters, as you try to demonstrate in this forum. These are your personality flaws.

But that is besides the pointโ€ฆโ€ฆ. we must accept an individual for the person he/she is.

I wrote in a previous contribution that the opposition to change in the civil service will create some difficulty in implementing ISO 9001, to which you responded by basically implying that I wrote nonsense.

Then for you to come and make a SIMILAR observation, is as appalling as it is hypocritical.

Expressing the view that โ€œPUBLIC SERVANTS who are STUBBORN TO CHANGE THEIR EMBEDDED WAYSโ€ฆ.

โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ.basically FOLLOWS my logic that implementation of ISO 9001 will encounter some difficulties, because of the opposition to change in the serviceโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ.

โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ.. you extended the point by mentioning public servants opposed to change may not vote for Solutions Barbados. Surely by not voting for a party that is at the forefront of initiating change, can be considered as being OPPOSED to change.

Could you please tell me what are the SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES between our comments?

These guys are not concerned with Grenville’s ambitions or care that ISO standards could turn the island into a best practices hub…..it is the tone being used to talk down to them….while begging them for votes.

Ah hope I did not lose anyone.

Any new system will face challenges and obstacles. Change is not a readily accepted variable unless it fills pockets. It is obvious that they will be intricacies to be worked out, and a roll out of costs endemic to the proper working of such a thing if it is to follow the matrix of compliances need for approval. But, but, but, this monster called the political public sector knows only one type of loyality. This is no bull that you can easily tame even if you adopt your systematic approach proposal. Non compliant people need drastic measures. Barbados is not exactly big on compliance and following rules, so the culture of doing bare shite in the civil service need a leader that is not compromised and not about pacifying feelings and hurt egos. When it is implemented in the civil service, those who seek to sabotage, to not comply, to not conform, will have determine which is more important to them, the job or their inflated egos.

Ma girl, I does got you back as I know you does got mine from time to time so if I offend you with this comment, I want to apologise up front and let you know no harm done. What the so in so you talking about threat? These string puppets that belong to one political party or the other want their asses under corrective pressure. There is a difference between a statement and a threat. All I heard was an emphatic statement. One that says, when ISO9001 is used as the bench mark tool for improving the nonsense in the civil service ministry, any one who thinks to subject it to sabotage; all persons who believe that they can continue in their non compliant frame of minds; any accessive nitpicking that seeks to influence those who want to comply, and all those those political loyal jackasses that bringing their political axe to cut it down, will be rudely awakened when the words, you are fired, are uttered. Now tell me where in that is a threat? Girl, everything will be done to prove that ISO9001 is not applicable to Barbados because it will stop all them money channels that money does flow through. That is why it will take long to implement, but remember when bajans see the ring leaders with all the mout and so call power humble, all tend to fall in line because of fear. It is what the wicked ass political stink class has used effectively against bajans to keep the ass mouts shut. So I wid Grenville. COMPLY OR GET YOUR ASS FRY! You decide.

Workers are managed by managers who should operate under that company’s operational standards. Employees are just the followers who follows procedures. How can ISO 9001 be implemented when managers do not conform to quality or professionalism.

That is not the only political tool Solutions is using….like some are saying, myself included, the way they are touting this flat tax is also not useful…..they are making it seem like it’s easy but it’s not……..it’s the rich that are known to benefit from flat tax systems…and as the island already has many more poor than wealthy people…..already an imbalance. …….

Voters have to do their homework. …weigh the pros and cons to everything politicians say …, do your own research.

  37. Well Well & Cut N' Paste At Your Service Avatar

These are some of the downsides to flat tax systems…..it’s best everyone do their own research. There is no fair tax system.

“Problems With Flat Tax. … There have been discussions about switching to a flat tax, in which all taxpayers pay the same percentage rate. A flat tax might be beneficial to some higher-income taxpayers, but it may also place an unfair burden on lower-income earners.”

    Are flat taxes regressive?
A flat tax (short for flat tax rate) is a tax system with a constant marginal rate, usually applied to individual or corporate income. A true flat tax would be a proportional tax, but implementations are often progressive and sometimes regressive depending on deductions and exemptions in the tax base.”

Grenville right to trick the likes of Bushie. Implement ISO or be fired, I’ve never heard so much RH. Thought that you, of all people, would understand that Tim was a DIFFERENT kind of politician that believed in calling it as it is…
Unlike the Machiavellian miscreants that we have all come to define politics by, he perhaps entered the fray with the intent of DOING THE RIGHT THING for the people.

His criticism of the Ontario Lottery that resulted in a big shakeup (probably why Hants was able to use their recent reports as a model for out local shiitehounds) is a case in point.
MOST ‘politicians’ would NEVER criticise a body with so much money.

His work with tourism after 911 also suggests a committed, effective LEADER at work.

When therefore he TOLD THE TRUTH about the civil servants – and as a result was NOT successful, who the HELL do you think LOST in that whole equation? …him?

Shiite man, the fellow is COMPETENT … and has gone on to a big-donkeyed job in business…. meanwhile Canadian politics is back to choosing between twiddle dee and twiddle dum of mediocrity.

In the FINAL ANALYSIS, it is for the brass bowls to decide their own fate….
There is no GUARANTEE of good leadership – DESPITE the majority brass bowlery of the sheeple.

Indeed, according to BBE’s “Law of Deservement” it would be WRONG for a set of stupid brass bowl people ….to get themselves a good, honest, righteous government of quality…. That would contravene the Law that says that a people ALWAYS get the leadership (results) that they deserve…

They SHOULD therefore vote for what they deserve.

The role of people like Hudak and Phillips is simply to provide the OPTION to be rejected by the bowls…
…just like the ‘ultimate option’ was rejected at Calvary – in favour of a brass bowl thief called Barabbas….. probably a lawyer too …and likely minus a LEC too boot….

    #smokethatenuff

  42. @Bush Tea

The downside to our system of government is that a political party must grow the confidence of the electorate to be able to win. Usually they promise and promise, this is the game we plaay. If SB wants to be successful what is he to do? Certainly pissing of the public sector vote is not smart even though his plan is well intentioned.

  43. The ISO standards are SIMPLY a collection of BEST PRACTICE regulations for each industry.
They outline the accepted and proven best guidelines, rules, structures and practices and set out to monitor and measure compliance with these standards.

An organisation that can demonstrate that it has established systems to ensure compliance with such BEST PRACTICE is then deemed to be compliant, and products from that organisation are – as a result- generally accepted globally as being of acceptable quality.

Only a complete fool would want to be left OUTSIDE of such an arrangement. Especially if one’s business comes from interacting with the rest of the world.

Apart from the international acceptance of any goods and services, SURELY any decent people would WANT to know that their systems are ‘up there’ with the best in the world … if not indeed leading the way in some areas…

But not us Bajan brass bowls…
This is all too good for us…
…too ‘hard’ to do – for simpleminded mendicants..

We need to continue to give our big jobs to our best yardfowls and lackies…

“The Tories evidently wagered that voters would share their antipathy towards those who work in government. Conservatives generally assume public servants to be overfed, underworked, undercover Liberal operatives, living large on the taxpayersโ€™ dime. They thought that voters would feel the same way, and would therefore jump at the chance to derail the Queenโ€™s Park gravy train.

In Hudakโ€™s mind, each of the 100,000 government workers he promised to fire was expendable. Their work couldnโ€™t possibly be worth enough to justify keeping them on the public payroll. Hudak expected voters to agree. They didnโ€™t.”

  45. Certainly pissing of the public sector vote is not smart even though his plan is well intentioned.

Are you saying that he should lie to the public then David?

Hudak…not only shot himself in the foot, but also in his mouthโ€ฆ.

Going forward Grenville should discuss with others, the best ways to send his message.

Bushman….I dont know who told Grenville that if he is elected and as pm implement ISO in the civil service that the workers will refuse to adhere to best practice standards. ….

…,….maybe it was Art put that idea in Grenville’s head….he was on and on about it for 2 or 3 days some time back.

As pm civil servants would have to accept instructions from that office.

But the way the process works…workers understand it is in their own best interest that companies become certified under world standards….I have NEVER heard of employees refusing best practices or sabotaging their companies ISO recertification….never..

You are not only dealing with a liar, but a fraudster and cheat, someone who will go to great lengths to .fabricate a bogus email.
It tells us something about the personality, who is prepared to commit fraud by false representation. .

  49. You are correct WW& Cut N’whatever
It was probably Artax (or Enuff) that put those ideas into Grenville’s head. They would do it…for Mia… ๐Ÿ™‚

The TRUTH is that, if ISO9001 is properly instituted in Barbados, not only will people NOT need to lose their jobs, but we would soon be looking for more people to employ… because QUALITY SELLS…. and greater efficiency means that businesses can EXPAND…

People will LOSE their jobs as it is NOW …BECAUSE we are currently doing shiite and not correcting it – for LACK of ISO9001.

However, Given the simplemindedness of Bajans, the polarising influence of the political yardfowls and the endemic brassbowlery, …it is very likely that some people are SO DAMN stupid that some will haffa lose their jobs…

    Shiite… think about it…
People at the Water works and Sewerage place gotta go…
The Transport Board management …gotta go
…mostly management and die-hard yardfowls who are hopelessly stupid.

    @ Artax
Bushie is liking your revised stance on Iso… ๐Ÿ™‚
