Say what you will about Edmund Hinkson when he is passionate about something or someone, when he speaks of a subject he loves and while he would as a politician have to tell untruths about what his or any political party will deliver, Eddie is not going to mek up these statements
Let us disregard the content for the moment and look at the matter of ambience as is being conveyed
He speaks to the state of affairs of the parties at the meeting and in restating these one notes that it would be a real stretch of his imagination to califlux this ambience so convincingly
Those fellows were hurting, they had spent a lot of money on the elections and in their respective bribing campaigns and they were hot
Tempers flared and to be fair to those in attendance, many who would have bankrolled their campaigns possibly even won their individual set but lost as part of the collective would have been decidedly irate
Those however who lost outright and, this is the critical point, did not have the backup position of ill won political gains of previous appointments and kickbacks as ministers of telecommunications etc, coupled with not winning your seat and not securing that $17,000/month salary, would have been real vex livid
What ensued between Edmund and George Payne is as is evidenced by the Claimant’s comments a true rendition of what happened at that august assembly of thieves and rogues.
How the managed it thereafter with this airing of their linen in public is good for in so doing both boy-men have shown the public at large the calibre of men and women and clowns who abound in the BLP
This should not be seen in the sole light of Eddie and George but in light of the collective and the absolute inability of the entire party to manage this and reign in the egos of these two short men dem.
BU finds the following position by Kerri Symmonds interesting and obviously explains his animus at times with the BLP.
13. Attention then started to focus on whether Miss. Mottley was a suitable person to be Leader of the Opposition and Political Leader of the BLP. Mr. Kerrie Symmonds accused Miss. Mottley of appointing his former wife to be a director of one of her companies in the aftermath of him being requested by Miss. Mottley to resign from the Senate in 2009 . Mr. Symmonds also accused Miss Mottley of providing finances to his former wife.

You are of course saying that political parties, particularly those that are weighted with an over abundance of lawyers in senior positions, are a nightmare for the development interests of ordinary Barbadians.
Hinkson I have known from a boy, and would not leave him on his own to do something as simple as change a car tire. He is though an extraordinary academic …. but come on now, enough of this rewarding for academic excellence.

What a stinking cesspool and these are the folk who represent poor God fearing church going simple Barbadians. None of them are fit to be political representatives based on the lofty ideals of Parliament . A pack of wild dogs if they could speak would not vote for such low life. One of the salient points is they are all lawyers. The berry doesn’t fall far from the tree and the general consensus of lawyers as dishonest, arrogant and repulsively opinionated is borne out in the witness filings. The only surprise is that they never came to blows in the meeting.

But, and forgive me for starting the sentence with a conjunction, “the tie that binds…” this set of DLP clowns that are in power, as opposed to that set of BLP nitwits in opposition, is based on a modicum of reasoning an euphemism for the PENSION that they are all guaranteed after their ten year stint in power (soon to be followed by 25 years in the wilderness)

I saw Owen Arthur speaking on Utube yesterday and I was quite disappointed by this man’s tone of voice. He spoke much like the average Barbadian who has had a mere secondary school education. The Prime Minister on the other hand, spoke with the grace and eloquence which are conducive as well as indicative of those who are charged with the affairs of the people.

I am afraid to say that I do not quite understand your line of reasoning because how does convincing others not to participate in the political process address the fundamental problems facing the system? The abdication of the pollitical process is one such option that ought to be employed but good luck with that because the most it will do is send a message. How about electing the right kind of people who will put as an agenda, the right kind of checks and balances which would hold those in high office aswerable as well as accountable, for their betrayal of the public trust?
Just as it’s a truism that ‘all politics is local’ it’s also beyond refute that politics has been, is and will always be a dirty game. The fact that this type of ‘internecine’ (I remember somebody used that $100 word to describe the cricket kerfuffle too) problem is in the public domain is likely a result of the presence of this site and social media n general. Cause back in the day these type of things would have been more diplomatically handled and surely would have been no more that a little blimp on the public radar.
But that said, consider that these bright leaders of the people are considered among their peers as scallywags and frauds. My goodness, and this among ‘friends’ in the same party. .
Why then do we not realize the difficulty with our youth (like our cricketers) in being proper and respectful. Also, the difficulty in finding folks of a certain education and status without overbearing egos.
These two combatants are both very wealthy bajans and wid due respect to both of them I really don’t think the concept of representing the people is more paramount to them than the lust for power and prestige.
So yes they are willing to dissemble, discombobulate and demean to get that legacy of power and prestige established.
The funny thing is that MP Hinkson has always been a relatively ‘decent’ and ‘upfront’ guy but as soon as you step in that political ring you betta be able to bite in the clinch, hit below the belt and otherwise be a dirty street fighter.
So Eddie has long since lost his decorum. MP Payne, well he is much older so its likely he can’t even spell the word decorum these days, that’s if he actually remembers it’s a word.
Anyhow, I dun wid that, cause the closest I can get to the sort of money these guys have is that years ago I used to get a ride to school, on the odd occasion, with a gentleman who I came to realize was MP Hinkson’s dad (RIP) .
BTW, I would have loved to see what BU would have unearthed during scandals like Pele and Mark Stokes to name but two.

Thanks David for posting those pleadings. I did not comment publicly before because I was not seized of the facts. After reading Hinkson’s own words, I am left wondering how anybody could fault George Payne.
This is a clear case of Hinkson not minding his business and now having to suffer the consequences of his action. I sincerely hope that Mia would spring to his aid and assist in paying any damages that might be forthcoming.

I am no lawyer fuh sure, but Hinkson has laid solid grounds foe dismissal and at worst a small damage award.
He has asserted that the comments, are true (some of them) and fundamentally have not caused harm to Payne.
They were made in a private settings of the type were such comments were considered to be privileged.
He subsequently withdrew the remarks considered offensive. etc, etc
This is petty nonsense and Payne must have some more practical reason to lodge this other than money.
“Electing the right people” .. geographic constituencies do NOT even get the chance to elect who will represent them. Do you not get this. What exist here is NOT a democracy, so why participate in something that you get nothing out of …? Switching back and again only legitimizes these two sets of opportunistic sub-humans.

But I think what some of us have failed to come to terms with is the fact that the temporal political state, is insufficient in its efficacy to produce the infinite plentitudes necessary, to sustain the needs of its growing population.
Payne got exactly what he wanted.
Mottley’s allegedly helping the DLP by giving funds to supoorters to vote for them and allegedly sending transport to Irene’s aid during 2013 General Elections.
Tell me, if your own is accused of helping your opponents to defeat its own team members won’t you want the world to know.
The allegations should be investigated BEFORE the election of a Leader of the Opposition.

George Payne’s allegedly assisting with registering members (75) to the constituency to ensure defeat of HInkson as candidate is just as fraudulent, undermining of the fraternity.
Hinkson would be a person who knew fraud was being done saw it with his own eyes and buried it until the 4th day after the General Elections at a meeting to elect a Leader of the Opposition.

“Fatted” calf! Wrong choice of adjective here. If things continue as they are by the time of the next elections as constitutionally scheduled the fatted calf would have turned into an emaciated old cow with a strangling rope of debt around its neck that not even the foreign investor vultures would want to snack on.
There is very little attractiveness as far as Return on Investment is concerned to new or potential foreign investors to grow the Bajan economy. The traditional business channels of import and distribution are almost dried up with a contracting consumer based economy (shrinking GDP) and rising unemployment.
There is only one kind of business with a bright horizon and that is the illegal drug trade and its concomitant underground or ‘black’ market where government’s taxation tentacles hardly reach.
Future growth is highly unlikely in the highly competitive tourism business as Barbados refuses to get its act together as far offering value for money in a clean as hospitable environment.
Do you really feel that with the spreading fears of communicable diseases like Ebola and other caused by mosquito borne viruses people would be keen to come to a country littered all over with garbage and filth on the streets?
Do you really feel smart Canadians and Brits would want to spend hard-earned money in a once proud country whose landscape is now overrun with bush and ‘adorned’ with abandoned vehicles and dilapidated buildings housing all kinds of vermin including some of the drugged-up human species when their very health and lives could be in serious danger?
Which tourist in their right mind would want to or feel safe walking the alleys and back streets of ye ole Bridgetown with its perfumed atmosphere infused with the hotly irresistible fragrance brand “Bajan P & S”.

I remember as a kids the school would ask us to sponsor walk to raise money for certain events, and my friends and myself used to go to the Hilton Hill on Bay Street to asked the tourists there to sponsor us. And the American tourists at the Hilton during those years would give us five dollar and even ten dollars on some occasions. But here come the cheap British who would give my friend and I, ten cent and no more than a twenty five cent piece. And that memory stayed imprinted on my mind to this very day.

Which market do you think attract the most interest by developers trying to sell real estate and properties? Whom do you think the likes of Four Seasons and the Merricks projects were earmarked for? People like you living in the project and hoods of the inner cities of the USA?
Next time you are in Bim take a trip to the Oistins Bay Gardens or the numerous rum shops and restaurants around Barbados and try to decipher the accents of the so-called pale skin people patronizing those establishments.
Now STFU and understand that the majority of people of East Indian descent are themselves Muslims. The same people who are your best friends and big spenders.
Opposition politics is a rambunctious affair at times however it seems this time around MAM will have her hands full. For the moment OSA is consumed battling the Big D so there is a reprieve on that front.
