Anthony Bryan, Owner of the BarbadosAdvocate

The most STUPID COWARD of the year goes to Anthony Byran owner of the Barbados Advocate newspaper.ย  That newspaper should be shut down. Imagine he has refused to take money from a Nigerian Barbadian living here since 1994. Mr Adesegha Omobamidele wanted to advertise for an African cook for his restaurant. He couldn’t find any so he wants to apply for a work permit and by law he has to state that publicly in the media. The Nation accepted his ad and he went over to the Advocate to place an ad. He Bryan told him thatย  ” he did not want to me in there and that he did not want his money because of what is happening in Africa.”ย  Mr Omobamidele asked him what did he mean? Ebola or war? Mr Bryant the IDIOTย  replied “everything”.

Mr Bryan went onto say that he didn’t care which part of Africa has Ebola, Africa is Africaย  and that he owned the newspaperย  and that he can decide if to take his money or not.ย  Mr Idiot Bryan gave his reasons for refusing to place an ad from this customer, “It is disrespectful of him to want to open a restaurant here and bring in a cook from Africa. I told him straight I don’t want his money and I don’t want anything to do with him. I feel bad for Barbados that he is advertising for a cook from Africa. He is being disrespectfulย  to us.ย  I told him not in my paper, he can go to immigration and get an ad.ย  I don’t want that kind of money”ย  Mr Bryan told the Nation that “there could be a major issue in handling money with the deadly Ebola virus spreading“.

Adesegha Omobamidele
Adesegha Omobamidele

Yes Mr Bryan the customer got the money from the bank in Barbados and it could spread the Ebola virus by someone whose father is Nigerian and mother Barbadian who has been living here since 1994. If you are so concerned about this then SHUT DOWN YOUR Newspaper! I won’t ever be buying another newspaper from you.ย  I have NEVER read such utter rubbish coming from someone who supposed to know better. You are shameless and so STUPID that you are an EMBARRASSMENT to the HUMAN RACE!

This newspaper should be boycotted immediately.

  1. One thing for sure Bryan is not related to Bryan’s Funeral Home , otherwise he would not give a rat’s or bat’s ass if ebola came to these shores.

  2. @David October 15, 2014 at 5:17 PM “If he is so stupid how come he is obviously a rich man and the politicians on the government side are peering up his rear end?”

Because the politicians are even stupider.

    Duh!!!!!

  3. So if he was afraid of infected money, does that mean that he checks the goings and comings of every piece of money that he handles?

  4. @millertheanunnaki October 15, 2014 at 5:53 PM “Come on Mr. Omobamidele, you know how these sorts of things work in your native land.”
    Yes indeedy.

In Barbados we call it prouge
In Nigeria they call it dash
    Other people call it bribe
If you call a stinking missy a marigold it still stinks

โ€œHow does a jack ass like that come into to so much wealth ..?โ€
Funny you should ask that, I tried to find that out but I gave up trying.”
Your research would probably lead to Mr Tom Adams and Crown publications formerly located next to Rediffusion on River road

  6. I still cannot understand how successful individuals in the overall scheme of how things operate in this country can be described as buffoons

  7. ‘Money is one of the worst carriers of disease, and hard not to except’
Do not worry, that aspect of the conspiracy will remain untouched. They will find a way to propagandise that the use of money will not be affected.

  8. Anyone sees any common thread running through the Muslim development and the buffoon Bryan’s behaviour?

  9. Enuff that says a lot about the EDUCATED Barbadians. Or should I say the UNEDUCATED Barbadians?

  10. I had previous contacts with Mr.Bryan,he came over as a genuine, caring individual. I know him personally and he knows me personally. However,I always suspected him as not too genuine an individual.
I know of a young female who graduated from university recently and Mr Bryan gave her job with some perks including a motor car. That girl mother was very concerned. I assured the mother that Mr.Bryan is a good man. I am now doubtful.
After reading the nonsense he said about his non-refusal to accept the money for the ad,I have decided not to purchase anymore Advocates.Likewise,I hope every right thinking decent Barbadian do likewise.
Mr Bryan isn’t it an affront to Black Barbadians that the local Indian Community advertises especially in your newspaper for Non-Nationals to cook Indian delicacies.
Mr Bryan be aware your ethnicity is AFRICAN.

  11. Good morning Negroman……this is about the only thing you and I can agree on. Have a wonderful day!

  12. I believe this is the only thing we will ever agree on . Lol.Have a good day also.

  13. all govts should impose a “statue of limitations or a ban against hypocricy !ghee!crying out loud

  14. You all realise that we have nuff Africans living here quietly who came and never left. The cook can easily be acquired from our midst without “further importation”.

  15. Sanky will you bring them to be interviewed? What is stopping you from rounding them up?

  16. @islandgal246…it is not as though Immigration will be interviewing them. What is the difference between “Chinese Cook” needed, “Indian Cook” needed and “African Cook” needed. Ambiguous yes, but we get the drift. Does that mean they wish to bring a cook from China, India(Guyana) or Africa? We have nuff of them in our midst. The next thing would be this notice “Having not got any suitable applicants for an African Cook, we will be applying to the Immigration Dept for a Work Permit…………..”

  17. All I am saying is that an African of African descent living here illegally will be hired without Immigration approval and we would be none the wiser. Dat is how it does work bout here.

  18. So Sanky you have assumed all Africans are able to cook to a standard to work at a commercial enterprise or that they would want to work as a cook to begin with? Obviously you are being facetious.

  19. Sanky | October 16, 2014 at 11:47 AM |

    ……………………………………………………………………………………
The same applies to many Europeans, some of whom secure jobs while on vacation down here.

  20. Amen @Colonel Buggy – no Ad, no Work Permit.

  21. @David (BU) don’t know how you arrived at what you deem my assumption.

  22. @Sanky

You wouldn’t now that the illogical has been pointed out to you.

  23. On the flip side Sandy Lane has been posting ads for an Asian Sous Chef all week.

  24. And dem got nufff Chinese bout here living so Sanky why don’t you round these people up and take them to Sandy Lane for interviews. Just applying your logic.

  25. Heard from someone that 94% of Bajans agree to ban Africans from coming here. Yet the white man can come as he like as if he can’t bring the virus in with him. SMH

  26. so are we now to believe that 94% of bajans are racist, given the barrage of attacks and negative attacks thrown at bryan for speaking out” aloud “what 94 % bajans are thinking…

  27. Anybody remembered the Central Bank Governor who had applied for a work permit to bring in a Baby Sitter, as no suitable Bajan could be found?
If Bajan cooks, for as long as we have had a parliament ,are able to satisfy the culinary needs of the demanding hard nosed planter class of Barbados, they should be able to satisfy most other people.

  28. Wow…I can’t believe he can openly do what he did? Private ownership or not…And the ignorance.

It seems that people don’t know that Africa is a continent and not a country. I am amazed….There are approximately 55 countries that make up the continent…It’s a huge land mass. Much bigger than what has been drawn on maps/globes in current use. Hmmmmm………..Knowledge is power, People.

I am always surprised at the depth of the mental slavery many still suffer from…especially in majority Black countries…Amazing. Step out of your bubble…live in majority non-black countries…maybe then you’ll find yourselves…

And to the observation of client in Ottawa reTim Hortons and black employee, when SARS came on the scene never once did I look at the service persons race before deciding the be served by them…hmmmmm

  29. How can this sensibly be seen as a racial issue? It is a medical issue, a life or death issue, and the question boils down to this ‘Are we doing everything we possibly can to limit the likelihood of ebola presenting itself in Barbados?’ Seems to me that the 94% have got more sense than some contributors here.

  30. seems like some here would like to take the issue on such a path, Bryan only mistake was in refusing to take the money, like the other paper LOL i really don’t see this as a racial issue as some might wish to hint, but a problem driven in part by a diabolical fear and a need for ones to have a say so in the handling or control of their business and / or security, be that as it may i believe the issue could have been handle with more sensitivity on mr bryans part, inside of being snobbish and arrogant,

  31. I don’t think anyone is making it a racial issue…I think it is ignorant to want to stop travel from all Africans…The continent is huge as already mentioned. I would understand limitations on people from affected countries.

  32. seems like some here would like to take the issue on racial path, Bryan only mistake was in refusing to take the money, like the other paper LOL i really donโ€™t see this as a racial issue as some might wish to hint, but a problem driven in part by a diabolical fear and a need for one to have a say in the handling or control of their business and / or security, be that as it may i believe the issue could have been handle with more sensitivity on mr bryans part, instead of him being snobbish and arrogant,

  33. Caribcana

But isn’t that the proposal? Not all Africa of course not – but affected countries yes. We would only be doing what South Africa and other African countries are doing.

    ++++++

Article and some comments were about Africans in general and that is what I am referring to.

  35. I am sure that Mr. Bryant and the 94% of Bajans are also checking very, very carefully to ensure that the U.S. dollars that we all joyfully handle
    haven’t been to Texas lately.

    ROTFLMFAO

  36. Barbados is in a very precarious position. It depends on Tourism for its survival. Banning Africans won’t stop Ebola from coming to our shores. It will not be an African who will bring Ebola to these shores. I hope that it never happens but people should be aware that any Tourist /friend. family member could potentially bring it here if they have been exposed to it..

  37. Truth escaping as more scientists conclude that Ebola is an airborne virus

    http://www.sott.net/article/287442-Truth-escaping-as-more-scientists-conclude-that-Ebola-is-an-airborne-virus

  38. ” Seems to me that the 94% have got more sense than some contributors here.”

Ross I used to think that you were more sensible than that statement but you have just blown the cover. You are just as STUPID as the 94% and Bryan.

  39. The Ebola scenario playing out exposes one thing that is certain, we cannot speak to the issue in an absolute way. There is no correct or wrong approach. What we have to do is make intelligent decisions as a country and stick together. The virus can come from any where and obvious those travelling from the African continent will be labelled high risk. Managing risk is a messy business sometimes especially when the data available is limited.

  40. Oh dear Island – of course anyone who’s been exposed can bring it. That’s not the issue – the issue is whether to permit entry to those from high risk (yes African – live with it) countries – the ones where the disease is centred. Is South Africa wrong? And what of our Caribbean partners? I really think the anti-Bryan lobby is using the cook incident to indulge in wilfully chronic myopia…and for the sake of personalities and debating points thereby puts us at greater risk than is necessary..

  41. Oh I’ve just seen Island….well luv if I AM STUPID I am in the company of a bundle of African and Caribbean states who have been in the van of the 94% You, by contrast, are allowing a piddling and absurd piece of nonsense to warp your judgement. Stop wearing thongs – they constrict your brain.

  42. NationBLPnewspaper Avatar
    NationBLPnewspaper

@David “The Advocate must have some utility because the government has co-opted it as a channel to disseminate its message.

The BLP recognised the Advocate’s “utility” when the BLP used the Advocate as their mouthpiece from 1994 – 2008. However, in Barbados the paper that is being abused politically is the Nation BLP newspaper which is using the columnists that they CHOOSE to hire to push the BLP opposition.

How else can you explain stacking your newspaper with people who all support the BLP openly :
Harry Russell , Tennyson Joseph, Clyde Mascoll, Peter Wickham, Ezra Alleyne, Glyne Murray and of course Albert Brandford to name a few.
That is not coincidence, that is intentional.

The Nation newspaper’s leadership is not in a position to cast moral judgements – let the public do that.

  43. @NationBLPnewspaper

Using your logic It does not explain why they fired Caswell.

  44. oh everybody knows why they fired caswell..

  45. @ac – I don’t and am sure many others don’t either. Tell us.

  46. Bryan has always been known to be an arrogant pig, he fired his own son and put him and his family out of the house his deceased wife owns, the son is entitled to a third of her estate, but his family still ended up on the streets. you are not dealing with a human but a demonic beast. Money and massive wealth does not a human make.

It’s disgusting when bajans look up to beasts because of how much money they have, how wealthy they have become, shallow people

  47. Ross…. i am seeing where stupidity is now the order of the day in Barbados. You have the pretentious frauds at the Ursulines threatening damnation because of a facility on Enmore compound.

I am sure that no one has had the balls to enlighten that crowd of wannabes that since the parents and offsprings at the Ursulines travel more than the average bajan, that they themselves are more likely to travel abroad and take back the Ebola virus, infect the whole island and kill everyone. Karma is a serious woman, never underestimate her powers.

I know personally how well traveled the Ursuline folks are, just an example of how idiotic they are, there is always an outbreak of head lice in the schools like the Ursula’s, St. Gabriel’s and St. Winifred’s, lice loves to breed in people with silky hair, long strands and so on and so forth. If notices are not sent around periodically about the outbreaks, the whole damn island would be lice infested. I had a really bad experience when a relative of mine was in school there years ago, but they still get the lice alert notices.

So i am thinking that the same pretentious wannabes need to lighten up, the facility is in the perfect location, close to the hospital for when one of them carry back the Ebola virus with them from their many lands of travel.

  48. Well Well

You must not be too hard on them. It is rooted in fear. I remember years ago a similar outcry when a facility for mentally challenged kids was to be located in a housing estate. Misguided maybe, but we are all very human.

  49. Oh and Well Well….

let me say without any malice at all that I find your public remarks about Bryan distasteful in the extreme. As I’ve said, we could all swap stories and so I’m bound to ask you what it is YOU “wannabee”?

    (But I’ve missed you)
