Those who are capable of tyranny are capable of perjury to sustain it – Lysander Spooner

In a time of universal deceit – telling the truth is a revolutionary act – George Orwell

If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truthJoseph Goebbels

All warfare is based on deceptionSun Tzu

Our central point of departure rests on the truism that we live within a tapestry of lies. But when it comes to Geo-politics, the theory of the big lie was always necessary in the maintenance of empire. Notwithstanding this centuries old adage, the big lie remains a potent weapon in the quiver of the powers as they seek to conduct war, by any means necessary, against their foes. In recent years we’ve had big lies serving to instigate illegal wars against Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Gaza, Yugoslavia and others. However, the recent war propaganda against Putin’s Russia take the big lie to new and staggering levels of acceptability. Indeed, the very existence of the Anglo-American Empire has come to rest on the acceptance of these big lies as truisms.

We have never been persuaded that any country commands any high level of innocence. Indeed, we see countries as impersonal entities without any enduring friendships but with perennial interests. These national interests guide countries and blocks as they tussle for advantage and ascendancy. In this pursuit countries may try a combination of diplomacy, politics and other cultural and economic levers to change the balance of power, gain strategic advantage. In the event where there is a failure, militarism, including sanctions, maybe employed by belligerents to achieve, through violence, that which could not be so done by ‘peaceful’ means.

In the case of Russia the big lie theory has proven to be a worthy and reliable stand-in for logic and reason. It was Goebbels who argued that given control of media, it was easy to determined what the population believed. And the populations of the world is largely under the control of this Goebbels injunction. In the propaganda war on Russia such a global propaganda ministry has trotted out a number of baldfaced lies to violently overthrow the government of Ukraine as a sovereign state and then proceeded to institute a coup government made up of neo-Nazi elements while blaming Russia for the ‘mistakes’ of the West. This is the nature of war – the big lie style. The government they established was to be a mere servant of colonialism, to create confusion on Russia’s borders and was aimed at breaking up Ukraine in the interests of long-run destabilization that could spill over into Russia itself. This is only the most recent in the American led NATO expansion eastward in violation of promises made to Gorbachev. They miscalculated Russia was never to become a competitor for dominance, challenging the USD and realigning countries against empire.

In the case of Crimea there were many lies told by the West, and a few by Russia too. It was once said that when a lie gets a head start on the truth, the truth will never catch up. Sometimes a lie can defeat another lie, but not always. However, in the case of eastern Ukraine – Kharkov, Luhansk and Donetsk – east of the Dnieper River – no effort has been spared in the West in the magnitude of big lies told to achieve their hideous objectives. Lies so pervasive that they represent truth for most. Some narratives about Ukraine are totally informed by lies. Big lies mouthed over and over again in all media especially network television, global newspapers of record and mindless stenographers for empire like the Nation Newspaper in Barbados. But the lies are not working anymore, we had wondered how many times must the West peddle lies to get us into war and we like sheeple meekly comply. The end to the effectiveness of Western lies surely signals the end of their reign as well, no?

The most recent big lie was that Russian troops has invaded eastern Ukraine. The people of the world are not to know that most of the military equipment of Ukraine comes from Russia. So we are shown convoys of Russian military vehicle and told that there is an invasion. And we have these ‘babes’ on television forming our opinions absent of other possible explanations. Could these vehicles not to under the control of Ukrainians troops? Could there not be captured vehicles from the regime in Kiev? Could this parade not be part of an exercise that happened sometime ago? Could there not be an alternative explanation? This narrative is absent of a realistic understanding of the military might of Russia, its recent involvements, etc. We suggest, given the military might of Russia that should Putin have made to decision to invade Ukraine, Kiev itself would have fallen months ago and there would not be one darn thing the West (NATO) could have done, except stupid talk about self defeating sanctions.

Indeed, Orlov has argued that should Russia have invaded Ukraine, Ukrainian artillery would have fell silent immediately; the appearance of the war theater would have changed immediately; the Ukrainian military would have instantly vanished; Russian checkpoints would be everywhere; Ukrainian border crossings would have been under the control of Russia; a no-fly zone would have been established over all of Ukrainian skies; the Western puppets like Poroskeno would not be available to media; 800 thousand Ukrainians currently in Russia would be going back home; there would have been an intensification of diplomatic and military activity around the world; the surrender of Kiev. None of these are happening or have happened. On the contrary Russian has taken significant actions to de-escalate a possible and wider confrontation with the West. These include the reversal of a law giving Putin the power to declare war, and others. None of this will help the situation when America and its European colonies are fighting for imperial survival. A war is necessary! A war the American want others to fight for it. On the other hand the Americans intend on the push for an extended dominance by lying to the Europeans about their ability to supply them with alternative energy resources and compromising their dependence on Russian gas. So Europe is to pay the price for empire!

Before this most recent spectacular series of lies there was the PNAC-like national security event of Malaysian flight MH17. The liars in Washington seem still convinced that airplane crashes have the ability to solicit irrational and emotional calls for war from the American people. Again there were a number of big lies surrounding this event which failed to stick so they were soon abandoned. They had asked us to believe that the Novorussians (the rebels) had shot down the aircraft. When it became clear that the rebels had no such capabilities we were then asked to accept that Russians were operating such anti-aircraft batteries in their stead. When that failed the liars shifted to the ill-conceived argument that MH17 was downed from Russian territory. Even in the face of satellite evidence produced by the Russians showing a Ukrainian air force jet in the vicinity of flight MH17 seconds before its downing, the Americans and their new neo-fascist friends failed to provide any evidence to the contrary. They ignored that the Ukrainian military had done this before, 10 years prior, by accident. That is the problem with the big lie theory, you see, a modicum of truth, given some media can defeat a universe of big lies. The imperfect attempts by both the Novorussians and Russians to cooperate with international agencies and governments, particularly the government of Malaysia, has prevented the use of this 9/11 type false flag attach as a cause cilibre – a cause for war! Nobody, but idiots, have any confidence in anything the Americans say about anything. Diplomacy defeated militarism and the destruction of truth as necessary pre-conditions for war but the big liars will not quit. Right now more lies are being hatched, even about Syria. Anything to make a war possible.

Whereas the West and NATO would like to characterize Vladimir Putin as a tyrant, the new Hitler and a warmonger. And whereas the propagandized minds in the West are imminently susceptible to these big lies. We must conclude that the reverse is true. It is the West that are the tyrants. It is the West that are the supporters of the neo-Nazi and are themselves fascists. It is the West, and the Americans in particular, who have lost their way and see war as their only hope of extending empire. It is the West which covets other peoples’ things and intend to take them by any means necessary, like they have always done. Thinking people should not see the Ukrainian situation in isolation. They must connect it to recent, similar, imperial American – NATO behaviors in Libya, Syria, Egypt, South Sudan, Yugoslavia, Palestine, Iraq and Iran. Of course, there is a wider berth of imperial excesses even within Europe itself, like Operation Gladio. So for the West there are to be no friends, per-say, only to the extent to which such relationships serve their interests. In this vicious game for power everybody lies to everybody else and the West have been the biggest liars of all. The bigger the lie …………………… the better!

Your conundrum suggests -Who invented the liar? Hermes or Man?
If you want to say something about a liar sentence, in the sense of being able to give final answers to the questions “Is it meaningful or not? And if it is meaningful, is it true or false? Does it express a proposition or not? Does it have a truth-value or not? And which one?” Then you will always fail. The very act of interpreting a language that contains a liar sentence creates a hierarchy of interpretations, and the reflection that this generates does not terminate in an answer to the questions “Is the liar sentence in this case the captioned matter meaningful or meaningless…??

In a tearful mess, I told my mother that she’s wrong about the afterlife: “When you die you’re going to go to your favorite place in the whole world. And you’re going to be with all of the people you’ve ever loved and who have ever loved you. And you’re going to be young again, and you’ll be able to run through the fields and dance and jump, and there will be no sadness, no pain, just love and laughing and happiness. There will be ponies made of gold, and everyone will live in giant mansions, and everything will smell like cookies. And it will last for an eternity, a pleasant eternity.”

What Putin knows is that the West is stumbling from self-imposed crisis to self-imposed crisis and he would most like to get out of the way so that empire could collaspe on otself, but they won’t let him, no matter how hard he tries.

  5. @Pacha

What the West knows from the Iraq, Syria and a couple other countries is that an exit plan is important.

  6. @ David
This is not about any exit strategy! How do you explain these people, the West, keeps stumbling into one disaster after another in quick time – 3 years. We should refer to history to see where this has happened before and why? The fall of great powers. How do you explain, for instance, that the same people who are now crying wolf about ISIS, about Ukraine, about Iraq are the same people we supported the ISIS against Assad, supported the Neo-Nazis against Putin, supported the Sunni terrorists in Iraq, supported the ISIS in Libya. You couldn’t make this up!

  7. @Pacha

The enemy is not only countries it is ideological groupings. This has made geopolitics a challenge in 2014.

  8. The chances that the U.S. and Russia will clash militarily over Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine are very, very slim. Ukraine isn’t a member of NATO, and President Obama isn’t likely to volunteer for another war. But many of Ukraine’s neighbors are NATO members, including Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary. And so are the the Baltic states — Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia — further north and right on Russia’s border.

If any of those countries come to Ukraine’s aid and find themselves in a war with Russia, NATO is obliged to intervene. That’s also true if Russia comes up with some pretext to invade any of those countries, unlikely as that seems. If we learned anything from World War I, it’s that huge, bloody conflicts can start with tiny skirmishes, especially in Eastern Europe.

Again, the U.S. and Russia almost certainly won’t come to blows over Ukraine.

Part of the problem is the idea by Germany, France and the better off countries in the EU that they should be reluctant to help European countries of the former Soviet bloc on the fringe like Ukrane. This makes them vulnerable to Big Bear..
    ……………………………………………………………………………………..
And that is especially true about France, one of those European countries that NATO cannot depend on. During the long Cold War. France being at the furtherest end of Europe , away from Moscow, and Berlin, opted to withdraw Militarily from NATO. But this reluctance to help countries of the former Soviet block, also stems for the fact troops of some of these countries are not up to scratch, and when we speak of NATO engagement, we are talking USA and the UK.

  10. SORRY TO SPOIL YOUR VANITY –

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he is hoping for a peace agreement to be reached between Ukraine and pro-Russian rebels by Friday.
Ukraine will strengthen it ties with NATO. Job done….

  11. @ Dompey
NATO is a fiction at worst and at best a straw man. The USA funds it to 75%, calls all the shots and uses it to interfere in the EU etc. The Americans even have people like Rasmussen reading the speeches they write for him. Europe is little more than American colonies.

  12. Putin is playing the media to counter Obama’s rhetoric.

  16. Arming Ukraine could lead to nuclear war: Lech Walesa
Krynica (Poland) (AFP) – European military assistance to Ukraine could lead to a nuclear conflict between Russia and NATO, according to Poland’s iconic cold warrior and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lech Walesa.

“It could lead to a nuclear war,” the anti-Communist legend told reporters when asked whether the EU should send weapons to Ukraine to help it fights off separatist rebels and Russian aggression.

“The EU is well aware that Russia has nuclear weapons. NATO has them too. Must we then destroy each other?” said the former Solidarity trade union leader famous for negotiating a bloodless end to communism in Poland in 1989.

  18. You must appreciate the collapse of Western economies and- by extension- societies will translate into the end of tenuous nation states like those that exist in the Caribbean; especially Barbados whose socio-economic system is inextricably bound up to North American trading systems.
Any major outbreak of war in Europe will automatically bring tourism in Barbados to an immediate halt. We are certain you wouldn’t wish for the Mighty Chalkdust prediction to come true.
Remember all Barbados got is sea water and sand (and a dying agricultural industry).

What would Obama and Cameron do if Putin makes a move to occupy Ukraine before winter sets in?

  27. Why the Ukraine Crisis Is the West’s Fault
    By John J. Mearsheimer
According to the prevailing wisdom in the West, the Ukraine crisis can be blamed almost entirely on Russian aggression. Russian President Vladimir Putin, the argument goes, annexed Crimea out of a long-standing desire to resuscitate the Soviet empire, and he may eventually go after the rest of Ukraine, as well as other countries in eastern Europe. In this view, the ouster of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014 merely provided a pretext for Putin’s decision to order Russian forces to seize part of Ukraine.

But this account is wrong: the United States and its European allies share most of the responsibility for the crisis. The taproot of the trouble is NATO enlargement, the central element of a larger strategy to move Ukraine out of Russia’s orbit and integrate it into the West. At the same time, the EU’s expansion eastward and the West’s backing of the pro-democracy movement in Ukraine — beginning with the Orange Revolution in 2004 — were critical elements, too. Since the mid-1990s, Russian leaders have adamantly opposed NATO enlargement, and in recent years, they have made it clear that they would not stand by while their strategically important neighbor turned into a Western bastion. For Putin, the illegal overthrow of Ukraine’s democratically elected and pro-Russian president — which he rightly labeled a “coup” — was the final straw. He responded by taking Crimea, a peninsula he feared would host a NATO naval base, and working to destabilize Ukraine until it abandoned its efforts to join the West.

  31. It is amazing that a national army could be bombing and shelling its own people for months. Near 3,000 dead, 1 million internally and externally displaced and not a word in their protection from the paragons of virtue and ‘democracy’ in the West. And that killing continues. We guess it’s not in empire’s interest to value the blood of these particular civilians. It does serve its interest but we are to shed tears for Foley and Sotloff as if they are more innocent that non combatants in eastern Ukraine. What a wicked system of things! These are ethnic Russians so no war crimes charges are likely. More so the criminals and they sycophants in the West, like Merkel, Cameron and Rasmussen are the perfect lackeys for the greatest evil in the world. If Russia was bombing and shelling civilians, day and night, for months the prostitutes for empire in the West would be singing a different tune.

  32. @ Miller
There is nothing Obama could do. His fate is already sealed. He represents a failed president both in domestic and foreign policy. Arguably the worst of all times, all times. But Russia has no intention of doing no more that it has done already. They are hoping that those is the West who are begging others to let them continue to rule the world would get the message. If not, it would be a full Monty on all fronts starting with the collapse of the USD. They must understand that this is a red line to all Russians, at home and abroad, and learn to respect other people’s rights.

We are sorry, but our thinking is not constrained by what will happen in Barbados or the Caribbean, or not. When the collapse comes Barbados will find another colonial power whose petticoat is to be held. For this is the only way one could get certain mentalities to die ’bout dey. Maybe its high time for a new dispensation, ready or not, here it come. And not too soon, not too soon!

    Re. The Secret Government

Don’t know if you have heard of him before, but a former Canadian diplomat, prolific author and now retired Professor of English from the University of California, Peter Dale Scott, has written extensively and presented numerous speeches (check out the many videos in which he is featured on Youtube) on what he likes to refer to as “the deep state”. This is a hidden level of government that is actually in control of and sets the agenda for the nominal government of elected officialdom in any particular country. The main focus of his own research has been examining the hand of this deep state in US politics and foreign affairs.

The State, the Deep State, and the Wall Street Overworld

    Updated March 13, 2014.
    By Peter Dale Scott

In the last decade it has become more and more obvious that we have in America today what the journalists Dana Priest and William Arkin have called

two governments: the one its citizens were familiar with, operated more or less in the open: the other a parallel top secret government whose parts had mushroomed in less than a decade into a gigantic, sprawling universe of its own, visible to only a carefully vetted cadre – and its entirety…visible only to God.1

And in 2013, particularly after the military return to power in Egypt, more and more authors referred to this second level as America’s “deep state.”2 Here for example is the Republican analyst Mike Lofgren:

There is the visible government situated around the Mall in Washington, and then there is another, more shadowy, more indefinable government that is not explained in Civics 101 or observable to tourists at the White House or the Capitol. The former is traditional Washington partisan politics: the tip of the iceberg that a public watching C-SPAN sees daily and which is theoretically controllable via elections. The subsurface part of the iceberg I shall call the Deep State, which operates according to its own compass heading regardless of who is formally in power.3

At the end of 2013 a New York Times Op-Ed noted this trend, and even offered a definition of the term that will work for the purposes of this essay:

DEEP STATE n. A hard-to-perceive level of government or super-control that exists regardless of elections and that may thwart popular movements or radical change. Some have said that Egypt is being manipulated by its deep state.4

The political activities of the deep state are the chief source and milieu of what I have elsewhere called “deep politics:” “all those political practices and arrangements, deliberate or not, which are usually repressed rather than acknowledged.”5

Others, like Tom Hayden, call the deep state a “state within the state,” and suggest it may be responsible for the failure of the Obama administration to follow the policy guidelines of the president’s speeches:

We have seen evidence of a "state within the state" before, going back as far as the CIA's operations against Cuba. In Obama's time, the president correctly named the 2009 coup in Honduras a "coup", and then seemed powerless to prevent it.6

  35. @ Greenie
Yes, we are very familar with his work. Indeed, it is at the level of the ‘deep state’ or the hidden government where the real causation of the Ukrainian crisis lies. Most of what is being discussed in the public space are merely symptoms of the real fights going within the ‘deep state’. We said ealier that Putin was refusing to follow certain orders from the leaders of a deep global state and they are responding with war.

  36. I see no connection between Putin and Hitler and those who compare the two haven’t a good grasp of history. Hitler, preached a violent ideology predicated upon White supremacy, whereas Putin wants to show the West that he can flex his muscle despite its opposition.

  37. Putin, is like a juvenile delinquent who engages in self- defeating -behavior, until the full force of the penal- system makes itself known in a real way.

  38. Liar in a Tan Suit: Obama’s Distortions from Ukraine to Iraq

On August 28th, president Obama delivered remarks in the White House press room. That is hardly newsworthy but on that day the president wore a tan suit, not the usual presidential dark blue uniform. This simple fashion choice exposed many things that are wrong with America, from shallow media reporting to popular obsession with trivialities. The substance of the president’s statements was lost in the repetition of nonsense and silly jokes. That is unfortunate because the president used this occasion to tell terribly dangerous lies about this country and the rest of the world.

The primary motivation for the press conference was to repeat the Obama doctrine of enacting regime change against sovereign nations and violating the right of human beings to live without fear of death from the American empire. The president called ISIL “a cancer” not once but twice during the briefing. Of course he neglected to mention that ISIL is the Frankenstein monster created by the United States and NATO interventions which always includes supporting jihadists who inevitably end up turning on their sponsors.

The man who bombed Libya into ruin had the gall to condemn Syrian president Assad for “killing tens of thousands of people.” Assad has the right to protect his country from western intervention and the resulting death toll and massive displacement of people can be laid at the halls of power in Washington, London and Paris. Assad’s ability to withstand the assault has made the West nervous and caused the NATO leadership to begin making desperate and foolish decisions. One of the worst was provoking a coup against the elected leadership of Ukraine and turning it into a western vassal state on Russia’s border.

The US currency exists and has its value ONLY to the extent that the world continues to agree on its questionable use as THE global trading currency.
Many powerful voices and countries that questioned this paradigm have become “terrorists” and been bombed into the dark ages….
It seems that Russia….and Putin in particular…has been around too long, and grown to assertive, to be dismissed by this tried and tested tactic…

  42. Peter Haisenko was a pilot for Lufthansa for 30 years. In the article below he explains his conclusion that the Malaysian airliner downed in Ukraine was hit first by an air-to-air missile from a Ukrainian fighter jet and then by machine gun fire. As Ukrainian air control has refused to release its communications with the airliner and Washington refuses to release its satellite photos, we have to form a judgment based on experience and available evidence. This judgment is superior to unsupported propagandistic claims. The withholding of pertinent information suggests that Washington and/or Kiev are responsible for the downed airliner. – Paul Craig Roberts

The Evidence: MH 017 by Peter Haisenko

The West has control of the investigation and apparently has decided not to investigate. However, we do have two critical pieces of information. One is the report of the Canadian representative of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) that reports bullet holes in the cockpit section of the airliner. Photos are available that clearly show bullet holes in the pattern of machine gun fire on both sides of the airliner’s cockpit. The other piece of information comes from a report in the Malaysian newspaper New Straits Times that intelligence analysts have concluded that one of the airliner’s engines was hit by a heat-seeking air-to-air missile. We know that there were Ukrainian jets armed with such weapons close to the airliner at the time that it crashed.

Ukraine’s government and rebels are said to be close to finalizing a Russian-brokered ceasefire pact to end the ongoing eastern war, but President Obama is downplaying the chances of the pact taking place, and issuing demands of his own.

Obama insisted no deal was possible unless Russia “stopped pretending” that it isn’t in control of the rebels, and agreed to “stop meddling” in internal Ukrainian affairs.

This is a demand intended to prevent the deal from happening. But Putin and quite possibly Poroshenko will tell Obama rightly that it is none of his business anyway!
