Shades of Herr Hitler who eradicated people for not being white enough, not to forget the KKK in the States and various white supremacist movements all over the world. And also, to some extent, the Jihadists. Unbelievable in this day and age. Henry Ford of motor car fame is quoted as saying that history was bunk. Mankind seems determined not to learn the lessons that history has taught us.  – (BU).

  1. @Well Well

Some of the French speaking people in Quebec want to separate from Canada. It’s a minority of people who feel that way. If you know the history of the province then you would understand how that sentiment came in to being. For a very long time, centuries, all communication: signs, business correspondence, advertisements etc in Montreal was in English only. If you were unilingual French too bad. French speaking people were discriminated against yet they make up the majority of the population. That had to change. There is so much more to the story but the bottom line is that there were prejudices. Now there is reverse discrimination against the English speaking minority in Quebec and no level of government: municipal, provincial or federal, wants to touch that subject lest they lose votes. So basically the English community is dying. It is being strangled. Same story different actors….

  2. in BC the native Indians are decedents of Chinese.fact.tested and proved.
i dont know about Quebec.that closer to the american border.
so before you go calling names .realize i not playing .i have facts.
and on top of that it is not really that important to me.
    what another setup.
wonder how i would do in Africa.how did you do in canada ?
it was OK?you still alive i see.
    best of luck.
Quebec like it make you racist.oh well. i got to take a shit.

  3. @BARBADOSADVISOR ACTUAL

Sorry to hear you feel that way towards me…I’ll survive though. No problem. And by the way, I have not left Canada. Born, raised and still live there. 51 years in the country. So now what are you going to say?????Because you are sitting in Canada now that makes you knowledgeable. I believe knowledge can be had from any location. You are not informed. You don’t seem to have any idea of the history of Canada based on your comments. I never said that the indigenous people of Canada don’t benefit from certain Treaty rights. But if you do some research and look at the history of the nation you would not say such nonsensical things. I mean really…if you give indigenous people alcohol they will go mad…seriously! really! Are they not people, human beings, such as yourself? Do you go mad if you drink alcohol?

  4. @BARBADOSADVISOR ACTUAL

I have no idea why indigenous people in Quebec would be different from those in BC in the manner you state: ie being closer to the USA. I do believe that they have now shown through DNA testing that they are closer to people from ancient Greece and the middle east (http://www.sott.net/article/283186-Geneticist-traces-origins-of-Native-Americans-to-Ancient-Greece-Middle-East) although I don’t understand the relevance of this statement given the topic at hand. I have no idea what Africa has to do with the topic either. But to humor you….I’d probably experience the same as you given I very much look white. So what’s your point?

  5. cut the crap, all of canada dont like Quebecker
why? know it all assholes..you were raised in that environment .
well so you are also a know it all jackass.
now .go away.Canadians would love to build a wall and let Quebec be separate .i have met a few ,the most arrogant assholes i have ever met.the women the most slutty ,and in conclusion.http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/qc/pub/cybercrime/cybercrime-eng.htm

  6. so what is your point?

  7. @CaribCnd
I fully understand what goes on with whites discriminating against blacks. I was born and received my secondary education in Bim and played in the Village with black kids. Still meet with my black school mates here in TO. Do business with Black Bajans ie car purchases etc.

My view is that it is VERY BAD Policing if they are stopping INNOCENT people of any colour just to discriminate. My nephew was hit by a bicycle, while driving, that wrongly came across the road in Bdos a few years ago and the Police were very upset with him for years because he did NOT pay the guy! He should NOT pay when the other guy is wrong. It CUTS both ways! I never troubled any Black person and yet a few in Bim were discriminating against me because I am white. Dont lets discuss Jamaicans, they can be among the MOST RACIAL on Earth for NO REASON AT ALL!

Having relayed these factual situations, I would be the first to say that Whites have been far more racial in Bdos over the last few hundred years, on average.

You can’t have it both ways though. The history is what it is… NOT sure what you are saying here?

In my view I expect any person to treat me as an INDIVIDUAL! I always give anybody the benefit of the doubt BEFORE they prove they are RACIAL!

“The history is what it is…At some point the white community has to take responsibility for the results of their criminal acts…’ Please feel free to explain what U mean.

I can and would always have seen U for your Humanity and nothing else!

My children are mixed race and were brought up not to be racial and indeed invited black class mates to their Birthday Parties every year! Indeed, it was an African parent (Ghanaian) who was BIASED against Cbean Blacks in conversation with me! Interesting??? Totally his intent to clarify at the earliest time that he was upper class Ghanaian black not Cbean!

  8. any one know if a DNA test was done?

  9. @BARBADOSADVISOR ACTUAL

Okay, so some people in the rest of Canada do not like Quebecers…and? Some Quebecers don’t like the rest of Canada…some don’t even like other Quebecers. So what is your point? Some Quebecers are arrogant assholes and slutty. I believe you can find the same in any group of people. And????

  10. @GP
I thought John B and Darcy B were a year apart but was too young to really be sure. Remember Darcy as Headboy. Now peeps pun here are condemning him for?????

  11. sorry but the trick is up.

  12. @MoneyBrain

I hear you…It would be nice if people saw one another as human beings first but many a time that does not happen. You can’t divorce yourself from the impact of the slave trade on both the white and black communities. The results of which permeate Western societies. Yes it’s bad policing when an individual is criminalized based on skin color but yet it happens over and over again. People have and do die because of it. In Montreal there have been discussions about it being bad policing yet it continues…every incident there is a call for better policing yet it never happens. Who is in charge governing the system? No Black people at all. Apparently, Black people are paranoid yet the situation continues. I am just speaking on one small city…It happens all over Canada never mind the USA and UK to name a few other countries.

Re you are discriminated against in Bim….are you really surprised at the sentiment? I am not say it is right but are you really surprised given the history? Nothing has really changed. The white community is still in power. He who has the gold rules….If you speak to Black Bajans and hear of their experience with white Bajans today, not yesteryear, you’d probably understand the reason for the sentiment. Not saying it is right but one can’t expect any different given the history and reality.

  13. @WW
    White people created RACISM! Really?
How come Dark Indians discriminate against lighter Indians in INDIA?????????? Whitey like he real powerful!!! lol ( same true in Indonesia/ Phillipines)

  14. @BARBADOSADVISOR ACTUAL

So you are a white supremacist.. Good for you.

  15. @WW
I did not know about a tribe starving BUT it was EXPOSED recently that a clan leader was paying himself $1,000,000 a year and I understand that it is common!

  16. @MoneyBrain

    @WW
    White people created RACISM! Really?

I do believe that these are colonized people. If I am not mistaken, the caucasian Europeans were the colonizers. If you are white stick around, if you are Black stay back, if you are brown stick around. Wonder where that came from?

  17. @CaribbeanCND
Like I said Whitey real powerful then!

U seriously believe that DISCRIMINATION in India and China based on shade, started after Whitey said it was to be so?

Intelligent Chinese, highly educated bought in to Whitey’s views? I know such Chinese very well and they still tell their Children NOT to get dark in the Sun! It has nothing to do with the Sun and Health! This is in a society where Chinese are 76%, the dominant racial group!

I have lived my life associating with many racial groups and we had an Indian guy from Guyana that the mid brown Indians use to call DARKS and tease that fella unmercifully! I never said anything to the poor chap about his darkerness! Felt real sorry for him, he used to take it well!

  18. @Cbean Cnd
The Deputy Chief of Toronto Police was a Black Bajan until he retired in the last couple years. The chief or Deputy of Ontario Police was a black bajan, so in Toronto we have had high ranking Black gents in the Police. I trust they had the opportunity to make progressive changes.

My whole point for coming on Bajan Blogs is to point out that ALL Races have people who are racists. It definitely is not just Whitey! I do agree that Whites have traditionally had far too many racists in their numbers!

Bottomline–FAR TOO MANY humans like to discriminate on Race, Religion, Shade, net worth, big house, motor car—-U name it! Race is a serious variable but Humans are screwed up!

  19. there seem to be another side to this story as to why the biracial woman was suspended,,anyhow there is also troubling evedience pertaining to color,,,,the financial aspect of the case which the BEA stated was reason for the suspicion, was not sufficient to persuade the commissioners to side with the BEA on the grounds for which she was terminated.

below is the rachael brown vs black educators,,

  20. @Carib
Dont forget the Indians and Chinese had a CASTE system long before they ever laid eyes on Whitey!

A rich, high caste Indian lady could easily be MURDERED for considering marrying or going out with a lower caste chap!

  21. @MoneyBrain

The system that was setup is very powerful. Could have been any group of people who set up the system and the same would occur. I don’t know anything about the history of China so I can’t comment on your statement regarding the Chinese. As to Guyana…I do believe the Caucasian Europeans set up slavery in that country as well as many other locations. It’s not surprising that the darker skinned people, irregardless of their ethnic origin, would be taunted for their darker skin tone under such a system. Sure he took it well…what was he supposed to do? After a while you learn to live with it. Does not mean you like it.

  22. @Carib
I have taken RACIAL MONIKORING, by darker peeps, well for years too!

  23. @MoneyBrain

“Racial monikoring”….please explain as I am not familiar with the terminology.

  24. @Carib cnd
Non Whites refering to my Whiteness—name calling based on race or colour.
Not that I care but it is true—-cuts both ways.

  25. @MoneyBrain

Yes, of course, you would experience that. I assume that happened in Bim and other majority Black countries. That’s a by product of the system. You oppress, hunt and kill my group…that does not make me too happy….so I am not going to like you very much. In the last..what…5

  26. @@MoneyBrain

Sorry but I did not get to finish my thought…

500 years, the Caucasian European have perpetrated inhumane acts against the “darker peeps”. That does not just go away because you want it to. Caucasians benefit from what’s been termed ‘white privilege’…that sucks for non-white people.

  27. i noticed a lot of comments were made because of the news paper headline but reading the case itself although dominated by facts which were of a discriminatory nature on which the basis of the cases hinged,,,,,,one cannot help but asked why the financial aspect on which the BEA forward as a evedience for Rachael firing was giving little attention, furthermore the commissionaires views came across as bending over to accommodated the ground of discrimination in favor of Rachael, with insufficient probing of Rachael’s accountability of the monies for which she was to account in due respect in the handling of the gala,, be that as it may there are ground for appeal,,,,the challenge for the BEA is to prove that Rachael was irresponsible and that is why she was fired,,,,
However Rachael should be congratulated for being able to turn lemons into lemonade,,,,

  28. Any discussion on racism in Nova Scotia is incomplete unless the name of Viola Desmond is mentioned. If she lived in the USA she would be mentioned in the same breath as Rosa Parks

  29. @Sargeant

Thank you for the information on Viola Desmond. Canada created a stamp with her image on it as well as that of John Ware. In 2012 in honor of Black History Month although Black history occurs every day. I’m just saying.

  30. @Carib
I am FULLY AWARE of all that and do understand BUT I have not been around for 500 yrs and I have NOT behaved in a racial way with anybody and got married outside of my race—so I have proven my intentions!

My point is it cuts both ways and is NOT a ONE way street. In effect it makes no difference to me BUT could make a major difference to someone who adopts a BROADER PERSPECTIVE than they might currently have.

  31. @MoneyBrain

No you have not been around for 500 years but the system is still in place.and is still wrecking havoc every single day in people’s lives. It’s true that it is not a one way street but you cannot divorce yourself from Caucasian history in the Western hemisphere ( not just Western but will stick to that since we are in this hemisphere). The by product is that those in power, who rule, get to decide how the system works. If I don’t have the power then I can’t discriminate against you. I can hate you, call you names but I can’t stop you from getting a job, or housing, or be unfair judicially or in any other manner because I hold no power. The system that was setup in this hemisphere was based on slavery: oppressor and oppressed. Advantaged and disadvantaged. This still exist today. The problem, in my opinion, in the Western world, is that the impact of such a system has never been dealt with. Therefore, it will never change. People want to pretend things have changed but they have not. You aren’t disadvantaged because of your skin color but others are…today…as I type. That’s just how it still is….In this time, historically speaking, Black people did not create this system. They were/are the victims of it. I wish it were different but it’s not. You can say whatever you want about it that you’re hated too but you/yours still run the show. Can you imagine that the full history of the USA/Canada is not taught in schools? Many people have been left out and continue to be left out of the story except when they are criminals…So why wouldn’t those who are left out be viewed as criminals by the wider community? It’s systemic. White people still rule and they are not going to give an inch without a fight.

  33. "Ferguson police just executed my unarmed son!"

A Ferguson, Missouri police officer racially profiled and fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown as the teen stood with his hands in the air. Mike Brown’s father — Louis Head — and community members are calling it an execution.

Racially-motivated police violence has no place in law enforcement and represents the systemic police abuse against Black communities in Ferguson and Missouri at large.

Enough is enough. Please join us in calling on federal and city officials to rigorously investigate, prosecute, and fire all officers involved.

Happens all the time. I could provide links to multiple case like this. What about Anthony Griffin (Montreal case going back a number of years) or that of Marcellus Francois (Montreal again).

Black men are an endangered species. They constantly being killed for nothing and usually the perpetrators get off.

Ever hear of Trayvon Martin…while his death was not by a police person..he was hunted and killed because some white person was afraid of young, Black males….

As I said, by product of a racist system that continues to flourish at the expense of many Black people.

Wish it were different but that won’t make it so.

    If I don’t have the power then I can’t discriminate against —

So what is the point of having Barry O in the supposedly most powerful position on Earth?

U claim ” Nothing has changed” BUT here in TO very much has changed in the last 34 yrs since I arrived. I know a Black Jammie who is the Chief Investment Officer at a highly recognised Asset manager and he is in that position because he is clever and hard working! I know a host of other non whites in high positions. I already referred to Chiefs of Police or Deputy Chiefs, good men.

U are correct that there are negatives transposed on to hardworking black people. That is wrong! However, it does not help when we have the Danzig shoot out at a BBQ for the community that was inclusive and 25 people are shot and one is a clever black 15 yr old girl and the other a Phillipino Uni Grad who were both innocent, solid young citizens. 23 others wounded. I certainly believe that education would help BUT do badasses of any race willingly want to behave without serious discipline imposed?

I dont condone mistreating anyone and strongly believe that further progress can be made, especially if the Dumbass politicians in Canada and elsewhere set the correct strategy/ tactics for not wasting $$$ and solving the key problems sensibly. Pols just want to buy VOTES, I doubt they genuinely want to solve problems. Bloody idiot Pols in TO can not even solve basic transit problems sensibly ie the roads are full of traffic so lets remove lanes for Street cars/ trolleys—BRAINLESS. Subways come to my mind!

  40. Where ignorance is bliss.shite takes wings..amidst all the conclusion and persumable facts given by “the Fourth Estate” it was a forgone conclusion that the. BEA a nonprofitable organisation willfully ..intentionally and deliberately dismissed Rachael based on color of her skin. However if one is so inclined to read the case there seems to have been a deliberate attempt to obstruct the relevants FACTS as to why Rachael was fired with information to implant unethical behaviour on the part of the BE A..a grounds for appeal is quite appropiate given the emotionalism and onesided approach by the commissioners most of whom were white.

    If I don’t have the power then I can’t discriminate against —

So what is the point of having Barry O in the supposedly most powerful position on Earth?

Okay there is a Black president of the United States…A learned professor at McGill University made a similar comment to me the other day. He did not know that there is still racism and how could that be since Barry O, as you put it, is in power. Really!!! Because a Black person is president, racism disappears???? Not sure how the two go together.

I am not saying that Black people or other so-called minorities cannot and do not prosper. Heck….Black people prospered during Jim Crow in USA. However, many a Black person was hung from trees and willfully killed: Emmett Till etc….How is it possible that the Black population in USA is what 3%, I may have that wrong but it is a small percentage nevertheless, of the population yet they are over represented in the prison system? Are you going to say that we are all criminals. Same could be said of Canada with the indigenous population and their over representation in the prison system. I’d rather you own it: admit the system is skewed otherwise nothing changes. You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge.

Do you raise your children to be aware of the racism they are going to confront? I did. Did you teach your child to be careful of the police as they can and will shoot you for no darn reason, instead of protecting you. Did your child, in primary school, grade 2 I believe, come home and tell you that a student said that they should not be at the same private school because they are Black and that Black people are poor and criminal? How does one explain to an 8 or 9 year old that it’s okay that they are black or brown skin. Sure we tell them to ignore it…that it isn’t true…that not all ‘transparent’ people are the same but knowing full well that they will encounter more hatred, especially if male, just because they are not ‘transparent’.My parents never spoke to us about any of the history…they tried to raise us as human beings yet I learned, very early on, that being Black was negative. After a falling our with my friends, at the time, I was 11 years old, the first thing I was told was that I was a nigger. Funny how it was okay before the falling out but not so afterwards. I was shocked but learned very quickly how things really are. To his day, this nonsense happens. Just last year my Black Trinidadian friend, a 62 year old man, was managing a car wash and hired some young Black men to work – not because they are Black he really does not care. Well the owner, who swears he is not a racist, told him that he does not want too many Blacks working for him as they will scare off the customers. Really!!! It is systemic.

  43. @Carib Cnd
I have been quite lucid that racism is very evident, indeed cuts both ways although much worse by whites historically. I have also said that Education is the answer, in all its forms ie saying no to racism, and normal schooling.

My child in 1 st Grade had to fight a Black kid who wanted to bully him and I saw EXACTLY what happened and let it playout so both could learn lessons. They were shooting baskets in the schoolyard and simultaneously shot BUT the darker kids ball got caught up and so he tried to grab the ball my son had shot which came down. My son told him calmly to find a way to recover the stuck ball but the other kid was intent on pressing his perceived advantage by aggression—-not a good idea as he lost. He then poisoned all the other kids against my son by lying about what happened. The crap lasted many months but eventually my son befriended another black kid and everything started to subside. While he never invited that particular transgressor/ bully for Bday Parties he did invite a couple of his friends who were black for every Bday party.

I have no doubt that there are black people unfairly incarcerated. However, the majority by FAR of black people murdered or maimed in the US have been afflicted by black people. Answer– education and strict discipline in the community, by the community. There is a crying need for a well devised Action Plan!

You may not know but because of the gullibility of indian population, while the brits wined, dined and had pretentious balls filling their guts to the top, the indians starved by at least 30-40 million, dead, starved out…….yes, the whites are guilty as charge…..please google that particular episode, it’s an eye opener for those who are not aware
