When the hoteliers on the island like Mr Adrian Loveridge rejoice in writing every week the trifle and myopic vision for tourism, I am forced to ask if he ventures outside and into the areas that are really doing business in tourism and that are the ones generating serious inflows of foreign exchange for this island .

Take for example this fantastic innovation being created by Sandy Lane hotel, for the Winter Season of 2014 – 2015, we have a first for Barbados a Private Boeing Jet Service flying from. Heathrow to GAIA bring some of the most wealthy to our shores and to our wonderful Sandy Lane Hotel.

We also are now aware that despite his vocal claims that hotels do not make money and the industry will die according to the former BHTA President Mr Gordon Seale, despite his gloom and doom he has amassed enough earnings from tourism to now further invest in the same industry he has continually cried shame on the same industry that has provided him with lavish homes in Portugal and Barbados, the same industry that has provided him the luxury of owning the top of the line BMW’s and sports cars, the same industry that provided him the opportunity to buy another hotel in Amaryllis but yet still guys like Seale and Loveridge continue to cry down the same industry that makes them millions.

We will soon have a new Four Seasons Hotel and development and a Beaches Hotel and a new hotel on the site of Sam Lords and I am sure that the same ones who can find no good returns in tourism will be the same ones grabbing to get onboard this DLP tourism forward development tourism train ‎.

    BU will not be buried. It is a reflection of real Bajan life. Barbados is a Church / religion saturated homophobic country with an overdose of hyprocrisy in the mix.

    Sparrow is so great and talented a performer that I would pay to hear him sing 1 song.

    Saw him perform live in Toronto years ago and he was brilliant.

    I am here sitting in this antiquity rocking chair, burning up what little brain neurons I have left; trying my earnest to figure out; what would posses a man of your caliber; to want to be a friend to a man who is obviously full of himself? Bush Tea, I have to be very careful what say to him because I have gathered from recent conversations that he isn’t too sure of himself. He often reminds me of comments I have made to him six months prior, which leads me to concluded that he values my opinion, even though he care not to admit it.

    Just which caliber you referring to? .38, 9mm, .580 or .762. Just ler me know and we can then investigate the topic. I hate to say it but I don,t know if I have ever had the misfortune to witness such crap come from the brain of another human being. However, carry on smartly as the Desiderata tells me that……..”even the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story” . Lord knows how hard I have tried to make some sense out of the jargon you place here for comment. But IT must say my patience is exhausted now.

    Dave would you by any chance have any more of those clips of Sparrow at the Gymnasium? Would be great if you had more of them if you could upload them here. Unfortunately, I could not make it to the gymnasium to hear him live. I was one of those who would have “cut my eyeteeth” on his calypsos when he was in his hey-day. Thanks.

    I played Sparrow and the late Lord Kitchener calypsos to improve my lead guitar skills ( in the 60s )
    Still play some of the tunes today.

    Yeah, Hants, the “Birdie” is one of the greatest performers to come out of T&T/ Caribbean. Its amazing the topics that man could find to put to music and there was nothing raw and dirty about his compositions. It was all about innuendo and double entendre. Nothing like the outright filthiness we get these days in most calypsos and crop over music. Thanks for the clip. Remember “Teacher Mildred”? Congo Man?
