Benny Hinn is coming!
Benny Hinn is coming reported to be worth 27 million pounds

In the post analysis of the 2013 General Election one of the factors many believed played a part in the Democratic Labour Party’s victory was the support from the religious segment of the electorate. The appointment of David Durant to the Senate by the late David Thompson may lend some credence to the position that wooing the religious vote was part of a political strategy. An insight into Thompson’s strategy  whether he believed it at the time was the the Non-denominational Inauguration Ceremony which was held at Kensington Oval in 2008. It was an elaborate affair and possibly won the hearts and minds of countless Barbadians who subscribe to Christian values.

BU will never question the faith of the goodly Senator David Durant, he appears to be a man fully committed to exploit his religious influence to the advantage of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP). If people (Barbadians) are so gullible to favourably respond to Durant’s manipulation we say all the power to the DLP for pulling the strings.

The BLPites must still be kicking themselves for losing the last general election. It was theirs to win. The news that Reverend Ferdinand Nicholls and company have formed the National Alliance of Churches and Christian Organizations (NACCO) will be observed with great interest. The stated objective according to Nicholls is “to create a platform for churches to come together and address national issues at a time when a lot of criticism was coming their way because of a perceived lack of unity.” BU believes there is another objective and we are entitled to our opinion.

Why start another group Reverend Nicholls? Why not add muscle to an existing group in the spirit of Christian love? So many Churches, so many denominations. What does is say to the observer? It says you guys do not practice what you preach. BU believes forming this group is about achieving power and influence over the gullible and unsuspecting. Like Durant your group will strive to manipulate and influence for political gain.  Barbadians know your political leaning, you are a rank BLPite and that is your right.

And why must your group as the first order of business invite Evangelist Benny Hinn to participate in a national service to heal and bless the nation? Has Benny Hinn purchased a license to deliver this service or is it because he is a well known face made popular by the medium of TV?  If Benny Hinn has so much religious cachet why does he not have a grip on his son who was reported to have beaten a deaf and dumb man during one of his father’s rallies?

Father please come for your world!

  1. Oh gee….Benny Hinn ….why doesn’t he get a grip on his son…..JC….that is sooooooooooooo LOW.

  2. I amazed to be quite honest, that there is such a thing in Barbados as the religious vote. And since there is a repeated echoing here on BU, that there isn’t any real distinction between the BLP and DLP ideologies. What would be in both of these political parties worldviews, that would persuade the above mentioned religious part of the electorate to vote for either party? And what percent of the Barbadian electorate is religious and how would this factor or fact influence the overall election?

  3. Politics and christianity go hand in hand. Prophecy!

  4. You mean “Politics and Religion go hand in hand!” That is how it was created, to CONTROL the minds of the MASSES. WAKE UP wunna fools your Jesus won’t be coming to save wunna sorry souls. Did he come when wunna ancestors were in the canefields 300+ years ago? But wunna still singing his praises. Oh I forgot wunna too believe in a WHITE preacher and the WHITE baby Jesus! The Poor Negroes they will NEVER learn!

  5. How does Christianity controls the minds of the masses, when every human being has been endowed with the gift of free-will / self – determination? To me that statement invalidates the power of the human intellect and its ability to make valued choices.

  7. Lemmie I am an early riser and a country girl. I have done many chores for the morning. What have you done so far?

  8. Render to God……

What does it mean? Not paying Ship Money? Marching for the poor and unemployed? Bathing beggars?

    Render to Caesar…..

What does it mean? Doing as you’re told? But what if Caesar is subverting the Constitution? Or you want to say he is, like Orozco in Beiize?

Does the distinction force us to say there’s a distinction between sacred and secular? But then, God works in the world. Is the world His (as the post writer suggests) or ours? And if it’s HIS what the F did he make us for? To be little toady ‘yes-men’? And if Caesar is in fact ‘His’, because it’s His world, then there’s only God left so all must be rendered to God.

There are some things that really amaze me in Barbados, and one such thing is our timid approach to the subject of Christianity. These so called (self appointed) reverends, priest, bishops….. can do and say what they like in this island without reprimand from their followers or the population as a whole. We often try to hold fast to Bible principles as so translated by these priests, and seek to condemn those who do not share the same view, while casting hell fire on them.

For example, Peter Wickham’s polls during the last election generated much debate as it relates to his methodology and accuracy in preparing these polls. Unfortunately, Wickham’s second poll was “incorrect”, and despite all his explanations, fifteen (15) months on, his integrity has constantly been called into question.

Now, let’s look at Senator David Durant. During the time David Thompson was sick, Durant was instrumental in organizing more than two dozen priests to intercede on in one voice on behalf of the ailing Thompson at an inter-denominational prayer service at the Wildey Gymnasium on Sunday July 11, 2010. Durant was quoted as having told Thompson’s mother that God told him (Durant) that Thompson will be healed. As we know, Thompson subsequently died.

Almost four years on and no one in this country has seen it fit to question Durant’s integrity or asked if he did indeed hear God’s voice.

  11. So Reverant Joseph Atherley is just a Reverant in name then? I dont believe the religious vote is such a strong factor in Barbados politics.

  12. Yeah, control the minds of the masses of asses, easy, religion and politics.

  13. Another one using the name of the Almighty to line his pockets? Do we really need this at this time? Will this add to or subtract from our foreign earnings? Let this NBC report speak for itself.

    Artaxerxes,

Me though! From the time I heard that so called pastor say that two PM’s died in office and another one will not die under his watch, I dismissed him as the biggest fraud to ever call himself a pastor. He obviously thought himself to be God. He had even planned a healing service for the dead king even though he knew the man was at death’s door.

I read the whole story and just dismissed it as a waste of time. I find it hypocritical of pastors like Stephen Holford who openly told his followers to vote for the DLP, to now come and say that people are feeling a sense of hopelessness due to the economic situation and that they feel hopeless over health matters.

Hello………..pastor Holford, this government that you told the people to vote for is the cause of people’s depression and it will obviously have an effect on their health. Aren’t you glad you told the people to vote for the Dems?

Why are they bringing Benny Hinn here? He is a fraud! A gentleman I knew was diagnosed with cancer. Someone told him of Benny Hinn and made all the arrangements to see Benny Hinn. He had the means and went off to a Benny Hinn “concert”……cause that is what it was…….the poor man paid thousands to get up front to be “healed”………needless to say it did not work, he came back disappointed and sad. The poor man died a few weeks later!

  15. @. Prodigal Son
Boss….is it not time for you to chuck the “poor BLP” stories now…?
    Shiite man…get over it.
BAJANS MADE A DECISION AND THAT IS THAT!!!

The fact is that it is very likely to be the BEST OPTION that was
available at the time….and possibly that is currently available…

…not that the DLP are not really BAD!!! ….but shiite man your people are WORSER!!! Wuh every time Bushie start to regret voting for the sleeper, – Noel Lynch comes on Brass Tacks- and the bushman makes a mental note to vote for ANYONE or ANYTHING who is running against that …….fraud!!!!

Um is catch 22 …heads we lose ….and tails we lose worser……
…and voting PDC is like committing suicide – with torture….

….unless of course Caswell start the damn BUP…… 🙂

I’m always puzzled by your cussing of AC, since the two of you sing from the same hymn sheet. The diffrence is, she is honest and up front about it and you are not.

  18. Sorry Bush Tea but I will continue to tell it like it is.

No one can convince me that what the DLP offered to the electorate in 2013 was better than what the BLP offered. Based on the DLP’s performance, there is no way they could have been re-elected under the right circumstances. They used the white men money to buy votes to win the election and are now beholden to them, look at every major project in Barbados and deny it. These white men had a vested interest in the DLP being re-elected and you know it. This was not about Barbados but about the DLP and its friends.

Are you going to sit there and say that you are satisfied with the way this country is being governed?
Does your heart not hurt when you see people out of jobs and no money? Dont you see an increase in the number of people begging?
You have expressed disappointment yet continues to oppose any criticism of the idiots.
Can you honestly say that we have the right people running this country? Are we going to wait until there is nothing left to say………if I had known??? Not since the days of Sandi has there been such hopelessness and despair.

You can talk all you like about me getting over the defeat….. I have….. but cannot condone the nonsense going on. I mentioned on BU last week of a lower level employee making $200,000 a year. I am glad it came out in the Senate Wednesday. The hard times do not affect you or I, it does not mean that I cannot talk.

You know that the BLP are better managers…………I am not saying they did not make mistakes………….man even the biased David Ellis said so today on Brasstacks!

So my dear Bush Tea if it offends you if I point out the callousness of the party you love, I am sorry.

  19. @ Prodigal Son
…boss – don’t mek Bushie think that you is some kinda fambly to Dompey now…. Like the other Bajan in New York….

Wunna so wrapped up in this BLP/DLP shiite that it seems that unless someone is putting on sack cloth and ashes and abusing Bajans for not voting in the BLP that person HAS to be a DLP fowl……or bowl…

There are a NUMBER of fundamental things wrong with wunna position….
1- if wunna fellows are unable to accept the electorate’s decision last February, how the hell wunna will expect others to accept that decision when they vote for wunna set of jobbies? Shiite man…in a democracy the voice of the people is the voice of God….like it or not…
It is natural to feel disappointed for a few weeks but it is time to GET OVER IT….

2- the average voter has TWO choices.
Shiite Prodigal…if you had to choose NOW between sleepy, no talk, snail-paced Stuart ….and Noel bombastic Lynch – you would probably hold your nose and vote…..but what the hell would you expect the average voter to do…? LOL ya can’t even say Ennie menie miney moe….any more since Clarkson gone and frig up that decision tool….
Look at the damn choices Bajans had and see if you can TRULY blame the electorate…..

3 – it is becoming LAME now to hear wunna on and on bout how Bajans made a mistake AND DESERVE ALL THAT WE ARE GETTING NOW.
It sounds HATEFUL and SPITEFUL….and does the BLP no damn good..besides ….UM COULD BE WORSE WID WUNNA SET….

How about laying out the alternative path that wunna would have taken and what the flaws are in the DLP’s approach – or wunna don’t want to commit wunna self after coming with the solution of selling all the family silver to import food, fuel and pay wages to non-productive people?….and being REJECTED by Bajans….?

    @ Bajan in NY
You please keep out of Bushie and ac business. We does cuss one another so that we could make up ….OK
    LOL
Ac may not be smart or logical, …but she sweet as shiite ya hear?

  20. Maybe Father Hinn can sell all that he has and give all the money received to poor Bajans.

That would be a miracle indeed.

  21. Bush Tea,

You can talk all the hell you want, I cannot change how you think neither will you change my way.

You gone off on a tantrum only because Artaxeres and I were discussing on this thread the ignorant DLP pastor and his stupid assertion that under his watch the dead king would not die and you castigating me for not being willing to accept the 2013 decision. You all can stick with the Dems and their ignorance, I dont have to.

I am finished with that talk. You can have the last word!

  22. Last word then Prodigal…
Bushie agrees with you in principle….but let us accept where we ARE…and accept the people’s vote as their sacred wish….
….and last, last, …man stop giving the impression that the BLP have answers….what have what answers what….?!
Just thank God it ain’t wunna that getting cuss all like now 🙂

  23. If BU’s information is correct that the National Alliance of Churches and Christian Organizations (NACCO) has invited Evangelist Benny Hinn to Barbados to intercede to the Christian God to bless and heal Barbados then it is one of the most retrograde and laughable steps they could make.

First of all they have chosen one of the most corrupt and false guys on the Christian circuit, peddling his illusions and enlarging his money making chest.

I assume that even though the island is loaded with hostile Christian illusionists, and indeed the Caribbean as a whole, NACCO do not have confidence in themselves or any member of the African Christian diaspora who can intercede to the white Christian God on their behalf.

In one respect they may have realized that the white Christian God didn’t do anything when their African ancestors were enslaved for centuries. Of course they don’t care about that. But they are still pleading by calling in a white charlatan to pray for them.

Benny Hinn’s mis-deeds are well documented: ” A controversial aspect of Hinn’s ministry is his teaching on, and demonstration of, a phenomenon he dubs “The Anointing”—the power purportedly given by God and transmitted through Hinn to carry out supernatural acts. At Hinn’s Miracle Crusades, he has allegedly healed attendees of blindness, deafness, cancer, AIDS, and severe physical injuries. However, investigative reports by the Los Angeles Times, NBC’s Dateline, the CBC’s The Fifth Estate, and the Nine Network’s 60 Minutes have called these claims into question. In 1999, Hinn appeared on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, claiming that God had given him a vision predicting the resurrection of thousands of dead people after watching the network and suggesting that TBN would be “an extension of Heaven to Earth.”[citation needed]” Wikipedia.

If NACCO wants a little advice I would recommend they seek out the religion of their ancestors which white Christians so brutally suppressed. The Africans in Saint Dominque (Haiti) relied on their religion which provided the only deliverance from slavery in world history.

  24. Jam

You’re certainty incorrect in you analysis of the Church’s position with respect to the enslavement of the man of African descent. Yes, I would agree with you that the Christian Church did not take collective stand neither did it make a concerned effort to fight against this evil institution. But you must admit though that there were denominations within Christendom that took a decisive stand and individuals from the race of White who fought against this evil institution in the name of Christianity. The name john Brown comes to light when I think of the white Christians who gave their lives fighting against the enslavement of the man of African descent.

So let’s not be disingenuous or adhere to this absolute position, that questions the Church’s efficacy during slavery.

Would you agree that the same argument can be had regarding the Church’s position, with respect to the morality that is associated with the gay and lesbian lifestyle?

This is my finally point on the issue of the Church’s position with respect to slavery. Now, you ought to get your hands on Sir Arthur Lewis’s book because in that book, he articulates the fact that in order for the Church in Europe to accepted the enslavement of the Black man, is would have had to be convinced that the African people were Sub -human or less than huma

“If NACCO wants a little advice I would recommend they seek out the religion of their ancestors which white Christians so brutally suppressed. The Africans in Saint Dominque (Haiti) relied on their religion which provided the only deliverance from slavery in world history.”

JAM well said! BUT those White Christian charlatans along with their Black shadows have infested Haiti saying they are giving AID to those poor black heathens. You have charlatans like Bush tea, GP, Zoe and a few others trying to convince us that their “White God” and his Book is the best thing that ever happened to Black people. It has made many too afraid to look elsewhere or cleanse their brainwashed brains to be able to think clearly. Many attribute their morality due to their Christian beliefs, yet the most immoral and hypocritical are Christians.

Religion and Politics have molded their followers into zombies who will obey and not question.

  28. Dompey, those who made a contribution to the elimination of slavery should not be forgotten. And they are not forgotten as you showed with the mention of John Brown. The white ones like John Brown and white denominations were very few indeed in the struggle against slavery. They were swamped by their governments and private enterprise’s lust for wealth and profits from the slave trade and by favorable public opinion.

The established churches joined in. The Anglican Church, The Methodists, The Catholics, The Moravians and even the Quakers got a piece of the action to name just a few. The evidence is incontrovertible and the efforts of those few conscious whites pale into insignificance in changing anything during those times. White Christianity was not unduly worried about the souls of black folks. I do not accept the idea that white Christians had to be persuaded that black humans had no soul or were sub-human before they could give their support to slavery. Turn that idea around and see how ridiculous that makes any moral basis for Christianity sound.

Some light is shed on this point by Eric Williams in Capitalism and Slavery under the chapter “The Saints and Slavery”. Williams noted that ” The abolitionists for a long time eschewed and repeatedly disowned any idea of emancipation. Their interest lay solely in the slave trade, whose abolition, they thought, would eventually lead, without legislative interference, into freedom.”

The Christian Church cannot simply extract itself from this history which we know. The church aided and abetted their governments in this trade an the planting of their flag on captive lands. James Baldwin puts it this way in The Fire Next Time:

“The spreading of the gospel, regardless of the motives or the integrity or the heroism of some of the missionaries, was an absolutely indispensable justification for the planting of the flag. Priests and nuns and school-teachers helped to protect and sanctify the power that was so ruthlessly being used by people who were indeed seeking a city, but not one in the heavens, and one to be made, very definitely, by captive hands. The Christian church itself- again, as distinguished from some of its ministers – sanctified and rejoiced in the conquests of the flag, and encouraged, if it did not formulate, the belief that conquest, with the resulting relative well-being of the Western populations, was proof of the favour of God.”

I think that black Christians have allowed Christianity to lull them into disregard and disrespect for their ancestry who endured for centuries treatment we today cannot really comprehend.

Alternatively the church buildings can become places of historic interests for promotion to tourists; or is fast happening in the UK houses for the eccentric rich and, most conspicuously, mosques.

  32. Well said Colonel….
Our church leaders are just like our local managers…..having to outsource the REAL work to shady consultants – while drawing huge salaries and benefits and occupying high positions…

Why are they not ASHAMED to admit that God don’t listen to anything that they have to say? ……and hence the need for this TV charlatan?

    @ Miller
🙂 Keep out of this ….this is NOT Annunaki business …

    @ JAM
Throughout history, good ideas, good projects and good concepts have been misused by wicked people…..often the the better the project, the greater has been the mis-use.
One has to be careful with throwing away bath water…..it may contain babies….

  33. Miller and Prodigal;
You have to admit that the good Senator did present many prayers for the DLP to win, which it did. So some thing heard those prayers!!

  34. “One has to be careful with throwing away bath water…..it may contain babies….”

The bath water has always been contaminated!

  35. …speaking for yourself Islandgal?

  36. ….cause lemetellya…… Bushie may have to reconsider….. 🙂

  37. Island:
When Benny Hinn come you gine to the gathering? Why you so upset about Hinn? I suspect that that one Robert Ross has something to do with this Hinn thing. Remember there is the technique of setting up a straw man. Hinn is the best straw man of all times!!

  39. I see Peter Wickham again in the Nation today trying to justify “ba ling” according to Georgie. His grounds are the white people use the Bible to do wrong so it bad. The Bible talks about slavery so it bad.

But Wickham you need to love eastern religions and evolution bad bad because if the Good Book is real fuh trute. For you there shall be total loss!!

By the way Peter, there were no white men over the 1500 when the Bible was written. Voltaire brighter than you and he predicted it would out of circulation after the French Revolution. The Bible is still around and telling you and the gay and lesbian agenda loud and clear bulling is not good for your health and there is no love in bulling only lust for the same sex!!

  40. her we go again wid that igrunt ,shi..t talk on this glorious and blessed sunday morn……lemuel u need to get off uh high horse and do like jesus mingled among the crowd of the ‘socalled ‘ out cast of his day,,there is where you learn and gleamed what forgiveness is about,,,not scrolling through the pages of ancient literature written at a time when mankind was limited to knowledge and relied on an imagine borne out of imagination to guide them…..that such imagine which people worshiped is called a god,,made in our own imagine,,,,,that should tell u how far lost we are still having to rely on ancient cultures and laws to help us deal with difficult problems they themselves could not resolve or had answers for,,,,,,

  41. Lemuel

The issue isn’t whether or not bulling is good for one’s health, its much deeper than that. The issue is whether not the bullers have a right to bull, without societal condemnation? When God said to Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree in the Garden of Eden, he gave them a choice which some interprets as free-will/ self-determination.

  42. Le Mule you are showing up yourself as a BIGOTED piece of dog shite! Only a MULE could discharge so much crap!

  43. AC:
You so foolish that you do not know that it was the Roman catholic Church which changed the day of rest from Saturday to Sunday to celebrate the day of the sun. There is will never be any thing holy about the day of the sun!!

Ac, I am sure you could sure use some of that ancient wisdom!! I am mingling with you here aren’t I?

  44. Island:
When Peter and his gang stopping Prof. Bain from eating for having a solid scientific position, were they being bigoted and spiteful?

  45. Island. Dompey and AC:
If the homosexual in Belize win that case, men could be raped and no case can be brought against the perpetrators in Belize. Buggery would be legal!!

And men or women can have sex with animals without any consequences. So all of you better be careful what you are representing here. This not about allowing Mia to wick women and run them out of a house with a big dildo. Or Peter to have as many men as he so pleases. This is about what we are approving for our children and grand children!!

  46. Lemuel

Question: if bulling is a Sin and fornication is a Sin, what makes a homosexual Sin anymore different than those people who claim that their are Christians and fornicating in God’s Church? The Bible tells us that the only unforgivable Sin, is to blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

  47. I know that I call Hants and a old fart here. But you think it would be fair to Hants not to know that buggery was alright in Belize and visit there to see the beauty of Belize and Belize is indeed beautiful. Then some body hold Hants and thread he like a fowl cock and Hants have to take the treading because Island, Ac, Dompey and Miller upheld the right of Peter and the Belize homosexual to walk about and thread every body to their hearts delight!!

  48. Dompey:
