Good Gracious Mr. Jones, Helmets and Vests If I Protest? Barbadians were taken on an excursion that was quite unlike Mia Mottley’s in Swan Street or Harry Husbands at several private schools over the past fortnight.

MP Jones was judge, jury, and executioner. MP Jones classified, castigated, and determined who were interacting with criminal elements and the actions that were divisive, but he failed to speak out against social injustice. MP Jones preferred to inform Barbadians under a veiled threat that the resources of the military would be called upon as a matter of ‘necessity’ since law and order, defined by Jones’ Law would have to be restored. Jones demonstrated a desperation that characterises the despotic regimes that have done more harm to their people far worse than any external forces – listen to Minister Jones.

It was a vain attempt to cut down MP Mottley given her noticeable and appreciated performances thus far since returning to the helm of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP). Since when did things deteriorate or would likely descend into chaos in a modern-day Barbados as to contemplate the dreaded call for the military and paramilitary forces in the restoration of law and order?

  1. At a time of great uncertainty and even fear Jones’ statement must be classified as one of the most asinine in the history of modern politics. This is at a time BU has called for leadership.

    May God help us.

  2. ghee whiz George brathwaite on the loose again…Hi bro nice of you coming to stand shoulder to shoulder with your new leader how appropriate at such a time for you as one who likes to eat seems like you couldn’t resist biting from poisonous fruit she is feeding the country on economic matters .. looks like a real Adam has been reborn ….

I keep saying that BLP operatives still have far reach inside of Government.

I was standing by a bus stop and overheard a woman telling another woman that her daughter recently sat the 11+ exam. She went on to tell her the Secondary school that her daughter will be attending and the marks she received. The results will be released today, but she was able to make her statements a full four days before the results will be known to the general population.

When I looked at her I recognized that she was a campaigner for the BLP during the last general elections in a particular constituency.

Keep up the bad work with , everything that you and your Barbados Labour Party friends can dredge up which you erroneously believe will damage the DLP.

This is the same style of the last five years and apparently this is going to be the same style for the current five years.

It didn’t help you all then and it wont help you all now.

It simply landed your Barbados Labour party back on the opposition benches. No prizes for guessing what will happen this time around!!!

  5. I couldn’t believe the shoite I was hearing from Jones on TV last night. Barbados could do better than this idiot. If no one in the DLP can see this debacle then we are further down the chute.

I am imploring to those of us who have some intelligence , those of us who are movers and shakers to mobilise and take this country back from these poor rakey politicians. I hang my head in shame.

Mia has taken over where OSA left off. This will not bear fruit for her either, she is coming across to a lot of Bajans as woman intent on being Prime Minister before the next general elections.

    Wrong tactic Mia.

    Don’t worry about Mia.

Mia is enjoying her 5 seconds of fame. She started the same way the last time around and what was the end result?

She was unceremoniously removed from leadership of the opposition. As soon as Owen hands over to RAWDON ADAMS her days will be numbered.

She will be sent to a back seat in the Church once again. It is only a matter of time. So let Mia enjoy her self for now. This is the only time which she is going to get.

The Barbados Labour Party will see to that as they did not too long ago.

Is the opposition not suppose to oppose? Ronald himself spoke these words, on many occasions,so how comes now this venom? A love affair with bullets? An apology needed here sirs for bad bad politicking. Ronnie this is not the Arab Spring and you not in the Ok Coral era.Stop the threats and understand the climate of elevation do!!!!.

  11. We have had some silly statements coming from parliament in recent years but this must take the cake. Here we have DLPites dismissing Jones’ statement as silly but MAM’s is liken to calls for insurrection. BU’s position remains that 4,000 votes separated the two parties on 21 Feb. What we have is a country divided with neither party willing to go bipartisan on a way forward.

    May God help us.

    @ least talk to Ronnie…..

  13. The most idiotic statement I ever heard. And this man is Minister of Education. Very well written piece, by the way, George Brathwaite.

I voted DLP last time around for three reasons. Didn’t want Owen. Wanted Mia. BLP Manifesto completely irresponsible. Many people were the same as me. But this latest from Jones……I mean…….what sort of idiots do we have in power? Open mouth wide and put brain in neutral.

I also do not think that the DLP as a party is being assisted by DLP supporters on this blog constantly trying to defend the indefensible. It is only when the hardliners of the DLP start to point out gross errors in judgement, like this, that those whom we employ to govern us will get the message. After all, Barbados should be far more important than any one politician or political party.

Jones the jackass owes every single Bajan an abject apology – so DLP hardliners owe it to the country to make sure he apologises, not try to do a comparision test with MAM. If MAM fouls up like that, I would hope the BLP handliners would demand that she apologise.

  14. @Onions

    You need to relax ok?

  15. The PDC has long been projecting on BU and elsewhere the fact that there will have been at this present juncture in Barbados this extent of severity of deterioration in social political material financial and other conditions in the island.

We have also been stating that this vicious decline in the standards of living of almost everybody residing in this country for the last 6 yrs or so will have primarily been caused by the very backward and inept policies and programs of the two intellectually politically bankrupt and discredited parties that have been the only ones to have been holding the reins of government in this post-independence period.

We have also been stating that this same very growing severity in deterioration of these conditions has secondarily been caused by the very disgusting and regressive policies and regimes of the very unproductive inefficient financial sector of this country.

So, it is these particular policies, programs and regimes of these two sectors, jointly or individualistically, that have been largely destroying many of the productive and distributive affairs of the commercial business sectors of this country, and furthermore have in turn been leading to this diabolical erosion in the standards of living within the country.

Finally, we will predict that in the short to long term the overall social political material conditions of this country are going to so seriously degenerate and degradate to such a point that there will be greater decay, collapse and ruin in the various commercial social sectors of this country, and that there will be the resulting reverberating social psychological effects exploded across the country.

So, Down with the Blasted BLP and the Damned DLP.

“As soon as Owen hands over to RAWDON ADAMS her days will be numbered.”

If only you had followed the miller’s Pre-May 2012 advice you guys would have won by a clearer majority and be would be have been able to do as you please in reconfiguring Barbados in your own DLP image.

But No, you waited until the economic rot entrenched itself in the system and now you are talking about shooting down your own black brothers and sisters you so dearly love.

    You silly fool!
Has sleeping with your bitch in your bed passed on some viral infection affecting your ability to read the Machiavellian plot being played out to get rid once and for all the DLP under the Stuart administration?

After December 2012 the political omens did not suggest it was an election for the BLP to win under the leadership of MAM but for OSA to lose and be buried politically.

Rawdon Adams is an admirer and loyal supporter of MAM not a protégé of OSA unlike Mascoll.
Mascoll would take over from OSA and play a role in the management of the financial affairs of Bim. But Rawdon would be appointed to the Senate and play an important international role as Minister in the PM’s office.

Trust me this time the stars are aligning as they should and within 2 years of the miller’s predictions everything will come to pass.

First case of fall out from the idiot Jones genuine outburst. Flight of capital from this country within the coming weeks. Next step a massive fall in foreign reserves and all that is involved in such a frightening state of affairs.

Time that expatriates pack their bags until this stupid and dangerous administration is removed from office.

We suppose you will have no objection to shooting the black bastards as long as they are not DLP yardfowls and even ducks.

  26. The fact is that for the last six years the BLP and it once defunct leader now leader has been doing everthing to undermine the economy..it now has gotten to the point where the vultures are looking for blood and something had to be said

  27. AC my friend have you really listened to the MOE Jones’ speech in parliament??? If you of all people who will attack OSA for everything wrong with Barbados, cannot see the long reaching implications of this idiot’s speech which has now brought shame on one of the world’s oldest parliament then you are blinder than a bat.

  28. @ George

Jones is a semi-literate buffoon and a disgrace to Barbados as an education minister.
He is demonstrably the most inept in the government.. What is more worrying is that not a single member of the government has said a word, not even the minister for national security.
    I wonder who that is?

  29. Donville you are the only person in that party who makes sense please do not remain silent on this one. To say nothing means that you agree with him.

Another version: “For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

When DAVID encourages people to come on this blog to agitate for violence, he should consider what the Bible says.

  31. A listen to the clip one cannot not hear the unmistakable voice of the member from Ch CH South egging him on. This person is also leader of government business.

  32. If the BLP was guiltless in all that has occured i would not hesitate to chastise jones. however seen all that have been said in refernce to the economy and its leader one can understand the quick and harsh respond from jones. not to mention the overt and convert actions to mislead and disillusion all which can lead to a dangerous path in the making

Anonymous DAVID writing his blog from the safety of under his bed and misleading idiots will not be in the forefront.

Think about that old Bajan saying.

  35. We have been warning the people of the Caribbean about the burgeoning police state. Those of us who take all the signs of the now embedded structures for a police state do so at their peril. We should indeed be thankful to the Minister for giving voice to the secret, high level conversations that he has been privy to. MAM is correct in her determination that nothing less than a non-political social uprising against the ruling order is warranted.

  36. CCC your present government want a dictatorship in Barbados, every right thinking person can see. One must not criticise, but accept whatever is from the mouth of fools, because it is all talk & no action. Ms Mottley doing the right thing, letting the public know how bajans are suffering because of inaction by the P. M & Minister of Finance. Harry Husbands who has not won a Parliamentary seat in Barbados on the DLP TV every night spewing rubbish.

  37. Why is Jones getting on this way? MAM was walking up and down Bridgetown & other parts of island when she was first opposition leader and it didnt help her or the BLP one bit. She was unceremoniously removed as Opposition leader and the BLP is still on Opposition.

  38. Kevin and what is your point???

  39. Carson C. Cadogan Avatar
    Carson C. Cadogan

The point is, she is enjoying herself for the time being. Before RAWDON ADAMS rides into Town.

Then her time will be up once again!

  40. My point is that Jones didnt have to say what he said. If it didnt work that time around what is his fear now? These walkabouts by the ‘Mottley crew’ still did not sway the majority of Bajans to vote for the Bees last elections.

  41. @Kevin

Are you aware what our first pass the poll system means?

Are you are 4000 votes separated the two parties last general election?

Do you understand the result means the country is split down the middle about which political party should lead?

Do you understand with almost 40% of voters staying away from the polls that we have a democracy which is wounded?

  42. I understand it quite well. Did someone keep the other 40 percent from voting? What’s your point?

  43. @CCC

We think you are being disingenuous with your comment which suggest that anybody here, and certainly not David, has ever suggested anything other than civil disobedience as the ultimate weapon for cultural transformation. Your firm political anchorage prevents you from telling this truth. In spite of the threats from your political master (minion) we re-assert a human and natural right to interfere in our own affairs. Indeed, we have a duty not to leave the business of government to politicians. If we do, like we have, we would surely have an elected dictatorship, like we currently have. What people like you and Jones are fear of is your own inability to be responsive to the needs of the people. Now, like you have oftentimes suggested, are ready to use force to maintain power. We wish to congratulate you for proving that we were right all along. But your violence will not save you. We are willing to suggest that your government will not serve out this term.

  44. @Kevin

Let us use a simple analogy to jerk your cognitive view. If you ran a business and 40% of the workforce had become ‘disengaged’ what do you think would be the ramifications? Would you the employer be minded to ignore?

In a democracy if 40% of the people do not care to exercise their right to vote and or participate in our democracy then you have a problem. The country though its government has missed out by such a large group not exercising this right. Bear in mind people died for us to exercise the right.

You don’t see as a problem? What if the figure rises to 50% next time around?

  45. @ David
This is a point we have long made. You are indeed correct. What is more disturbing however is that a party (the DLP) can presume to form a government with a mere 2 seat majority in this environment. That alone represents a gross misinterpretation of thinking of the voting populace and is an even bigger national sin that the former.

  46. meagre

  47. @Pacha

What is depressing is the fact that ‘educated’ Barbadians are quick to boast we exist in a democracy BUT separate the need for involvement/participation in said democracy. Should we redefine educated?

  48. @ Yes. It has been indeed only mis-education, at all levels.

This is what you get when you elect a circus into gov’t, a clown telling a lot of idiotic nonsense to people. What Jones did is release of a weapon of MASS DISTRACTION which is inkeeping with the smoke and mirrors tactics the DLP employs. Let me inform good old Jonesy and his 15 fellow twits that they won the last General Election. An Opposition was also elected and their job is to present the alternative view and if the DLP circus don’t want to hear it well then that’s TOUGH and DEAL WITH IT. Jonesy, if wanna think wanna going through that next 5 yrs telling the people of Barbados a lot of lies and fabricating nonsense then wanna better hire David Copperfield and Penn and Teller to go along with y’all circus act and hope that they can create a 5 yr long illusion.

  50. Well David; excusing those who do not vote because of religious beliefs and using your anology; it all boils down to people not liking what the two businesses have to offer. Yes, the decreased turnout is a bit worrying but once again, they have the RIGHT to go and vote. People cant expect to stay home and dont vote, then complain about the outcome.
