Prime Minister Stuart eases pass Arthur in recent CADRES Poll
Prime Minister Fruendel Stuart eases pass Opposition Owen Arthur in recent poll – photo credit: Nation newspaper

According to the latest Cadres Poll, Freundel is out front. Wow!!! With that said, the DEMS must, therefore, press home the advantage as a result of our favourable showing.

However, I am somewhat sceptical about Wickhamโ€™s findings, that despite the fact that Freundel is ahead of Arthur, the DLP is still marginally trailing the Bees. I wonder if it is a case of who pays the piper, calls the tune! We all know the obvious bias of the Nation Group of companies. But, however you analyse the poll, itโ€™s a body-blow for the Bees.

I am no political scientist, but I believe I have more than a modicum of common sense. It stands to reason, and rightly so, that if Freundel has surged ahead (in my humble opinion, he was ahead for some time) he would consequently bring along the DLP.

So, it must have been heart-wrenching for the Nation and the know-it-all Wickham, the avowed nemeses of the Prime Minister, to admit that Freundel Stuart is ahead of โ€˜Owing Arthurโ€™ in their latest poll. Only last month, they were arguing it will be a landslide for their side. This must be a bitter pill for them to swallow.

The DLP cannot be attracting MASSIVE crowds at every turn, and still be trailing. Look at the West Terrace meeting. The struggling Bees said we had only 4,000 last Friday night. Well, if that is how they estimated it, from here on in, we will be attracting as much as 20, 000 at all of our remaining mass meetings. Lord have mercy!!! Can you imagine the PEOPLE? As they say, it would be like Federation. You do the math โ€“ which venue will hold the people?

For some time, and I see it day after day, night after night, the people of Barbados have been warming to Freundel; not only Dear Loving People, but a cross section of Barbadians โ€“ even reasonable Bees. And, do you know why? He is DECENT. They donโ€™t have any dirt on him. No scandals, no cussing, no infelicities โ€“ just a calm, cool, steady and astute leader.

We have constantly reminded the public what Harold Wilson said decades ago in Britain (1964) โ€˜a week is a long time in politicsโ€™. Remember, the Bees were beating their hollow chests a few months ago. So, we have to stay the course, and be on the attack. The BLP will not take these poll results โ€˜lying-downโ€™. Those guys will go on the offensive and will be ultra-aggressive. Lies, accusations and dirt will rain down on us, as only the Bees can dish out.

I guess the last poll was done more than a week or so ago โ€“ because I detected a more sober-sided and restrained Wickham, while he hosted Brass Tacks recently – and I suspected his findings werenโ€™t very self-satisfying. If the poll were done between last Wednesday and Friday, we would have gone clear. But, you know what! My reading of the mood of the people is: WE HAVE GONE CLEAR. ITโ€™S NOW A SPRINT TO THE FINISH

So, as the momentum grows, we have to be vigilant. Stick to our message, and attack them and counter-attack them without offending the sensibilities of voters. We have to be like the proverbial Boy Scout โ€“ Be Prepared! Remember, to be forewarned is to be fore-armed.

With Godโ€™s help, we wonโ€™t be the ones seeing red come Thursday night. COME OUT AND VOTE, AND URGE EVERBODY YOU ENCOUNTER TO DO LIKEWISE โ€“ VOTE DEMS, VOTE DEMS ALL DAY.

Now, as far as โ€˜Owingโ€™ Arthur is concerned, we have to go after him as a failed leader. Since the BLP has been promoting leadership as an issue, we must continue to dissect Arthurโ€™s leadership, his mismanagement and his abuse of power when he was at the helm.

There are countless instances of his autocratic and ruthless style and his impetuous temper that left scores of Barbadians not only scared stiff of him but also offended, hurt and devastated. Too many persons were paralysed with fear of OSA, to the extent they became immobilised. We have passed that point; we cannot go back to arrogance and oppression. Those days are behind us. WE WONโ€™T GO BACK.

Itโ€™s senseless returning to warm-over, greasy soup. The old people always tell you such a diet isnโ€™t good for your stomach; it gives you Montezumaโ€™s Revenge – aka diarrhoea – ask the wind-up doll, Muscle Mary.

  1. @TTP
How have I not been listening to the dlp going forward?

  2. This note to Stuart was Arthurs confirmation of not exploiting Stuarts problem with the eager 11.
Any reasonable person reading it would know the comment about Mottley was a joke.
The fact that Stuart would use this note to portray Arthur in a negative way shows the kind of man Stuart really is.
Stuart is simply catching at straws.

    that note is desperate.

If its authentic and its Arthur’s handwriting what is desperate about such an explosive derogatory note? The note shows Mia continues to be a doormat for Owen Arthur. The notes exposes Arthur again as a stranger to the truth. The note confirms Fruendel is a serious no nonsense Prime Minister not given to idle threats. The note goes to the core of the honesty and trustworthiness of both Fruendel and Arthur.

Owen has been wieghed in the balance and found wanting big time. Lets see if he can fob off his handwritten note kicking the former leader he handpicked to the curb as “banter”. No Owen we dont want you back. You did what you wanted for 14 years its time to move on. We have an economy to restructure. We are serious about renewable energy as another, vital plank to assist tourism. You are about splurging money we dont have. You are about ignoring the deadly seriousness of this deep international recession which is destroying countries around the globe.

You are about spending untold millions on an election campagin money raised from cake sales and car washes. That last claim should condemn you and the BLP to the ashes of history for insulting the intelligence of 300,000 literate human beings. Time for a reality check. The Dems are about people not power. Dems now -Dems again!

  4. There are no words to describe OSA expect to say he is one manipulative SOB. even DR estwick presentation goes to the heart of how OSA manipulated calculating numbers on the balance sheets .what more can one expect from such a shister. People here supposed to be educated and should not accept such dangerous kind of leadership.Shameful at best! disgusting to the CORE.

  5. With an issue as sensitive as the divide between OSA and MIA it was not only poor judgement on his part but it also help to exposed his hypocrisy and now again open up wounds that OSA said that are healed which again makes him look like a LIAR.

โ€œDear God I never ask much of you,and have not sought your council nor followed your teachings since my wayward teenaged years.Lord for the sake of the land that I love I come humbly to you in prayer and ask that you relieve our politics of persons like Owen Arthur,Noel Lynch,George Payne and Dale Marshall.Dear Lord I miss my very good friend Truthman Burton so please send him back to us here at BU.All these things I ask in Jesus precious name, amen.โ€

As a big-up Christian man do you not know that it is a cardinal sin to take the Lordโ€™s name in vain?
Since you have a direct line to your play thing god of gambling and wishing evil on BLP politicians here is what your god has told me to tell you.
He wants you to read the following passages from that book of Christian morals you pretend to believe in:

โ€œDo not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.โ€ Ecclesiastes 5:2

โ€œBut when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.โ€ Matthew 6:6

“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered only by repeating their words again and again.โ€ Matthew 6:7

โ€œBut I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.โ€ (Luke 6:27-28).

We must not be proud and vain-glorious in prayer, nor aim at the praise of men (including politicians).

Message signed sealed and delivered. Your god is watching on, Hamilton!

  7. Banter: 1) to speak to or address in a witty and teasing manner
    2) To exchange mildly teasing remarks

    However

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,)
โ€ƒMoves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit,
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
โ€ƒNor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
    (Omar Khayyam)

  8. The point here is not the substance of this note.If I am being told that it is innocuous, then a reasonable question would be why did Mr.Arthur deny its existense? The reason you can all posit.John public too has its own opinion.

  9. @ Damani…Would it not serve a very useful purpose if one of you guys who were so visible here on BU all last week just offer a response to Dr. Estwick’s presentation?

  10. @Hamilton

Do you think Arthur will call the talk show today to clarify? If not will our erstwhile traditional media do their job?

  11. A doormat does not spend hundreds of thousands to continue being a doormat. It is a common sense thing. The party faithfuls continue to be set up, there is a sucker born every minute. Ask Mia Mottley.

  12. I really don’t have the time right now, but I have a piece of correspondence with Arthur’s hand writing, am no expert, but I will compare and see if this is not another one of Stuart’s sneaky tricks to once again mislead the taxpayers.

  13. @ millertheformerneutral…Where have I taken the name of the Lord in vain?Mine was an honest and most sincere conversation with the Lord I once served whole heartedly.Do we now need permission from you guys to do such? If my prayer is answered then the word vain becomes applicable only in relation to the miller’s veiled attempt to have us deny the obvious.{you is a undercover drone}Yes I would prefer the Dems to win,but if all I got was the defeat of Owen Arthur,Noel Lynch and George Payne, from the mountain top Hammy Hill shall gladly proclaim VICTORY.

  14. @ David ..No he will not…and he never does. They call him.At sometime he or the economic maestro Clyde Mascoll has to shoot down the kite that was launched by Jepter Ince and then staked out by Dr.Estwick.

  15. Owen Arthur says, “The BLP is in the process of rebuilding. To win a government while you are rebuilding is always going to be a stretch.”

People of Barbados let them rebuild in the opposition, not during these difficult times.

  16. Isn’t the BLP still fractured? I think so…..

Arthur says “I was prepareed to say the BLP family was fractured, and also when repairs had been complete.”

During the campaign Barney Lynch told the people of St.Joseph that Dale Marshall could be the Deputy Prime Minister in the next BLP government. Hear how Owen Arthur describe that comment.

Arthur says, referring to Lynch comments as a bump in the road. ” There is always an occasional hiccup during a campaign,” he said “we might have had one that may have influence the polls. The poll was taken at a time when we were on the back foot because of some statements made by one of our candidates in relation to the future of the party.” Arthur further opines. ” We are satisfied that the public is concerned about that issue.”

  17. millertheanunnaki Avatar

    @ HAMILTON HILL | February 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM |

The miller also had a sincere talk with the Lord called Elohim and he said that he has reviewed your list of BLP rogues and vagabonds for political assassination and will add (with the kind and fair permission from the guy on Morality Hill called Hammie) the following:
    Michael lashley, the money launderer;
Dennis Lowe, the lowdown contract kickback kid
Chris Sinckliar, the King Kong of Liars.
Donville Inniss, the king of porn and baron of bestiality holding the patent on paternity testing.

The same way Owen could swap Mia for the Eager 11 with The man of Integrity we can do a similar deal with your Lord Croupier called Medici.
After all, โ€œdo fuh do ent nuh obeahโ€.

  18. most people must have to the concconclusion having reading that notethat OSA is not normal . something got to be wrong with the brain. for such actions are out of the realm of normalcy. to think he would give the opposition that kind of ammunition is mindboggling

So Peter Wickham is now embraced by the DLP as the once prodigal black sheep now returned to the camp as their blue eye boy from whose backside the Sun is now shining?

Is he the same pollster who only 4 months or so ago came under a barrage of vilification and abuse from you ac wishing to put a pole up his wide asshole?

Barbados has a date with its economic destiny is on a collision course with reality.
We shall see if the DLP is reelected how Freundel the High Priest of Integrity climbs down from his โ€œNot under My Administration Privatizationโ€ pulpit.

But then again he has a few bishops and deacons to lie to the people that the DLP never dismissed Privatization as an option to โ€œdiversify the economy, create a culture of black entrepreneurship and enfranchise Barbadians with a greater involvement in the โ€˜commanding heights of the โ€˜blackโ€™ economyโ€.

  20. Letโ€™s analyse the note
โ€œI sent a note to you by Hal Gollop to the effect that I will not get involved in your affairs. That stands.
I know only too well what is involved in holding a party together.
You can help me by taking Mottley.โ€
Did Mr Stuart ask for Mr Arthur assistance in solving a problem? Most likely he did hence the respossnse,โ€œI will not get involved in your affairs. That stands.โ€
Mr Arthur then in all probability tries to offer support to him (Mr Stuart) by stating โ€œI know only too well what is involved in holding a party togetherโ€.
We all know that Mr Arthur is very witty thus โ€œYou can help me by taking Mottley.โ€ As he says it was light banter.
    Is this an election issue?
Please tell us how you plan to fix this junk hole that we are in.

  21. As fuh ac i not all that excited by the POLL. cause wickham got he ass to cover.it is evident that he saw which way the wind was blowingall this polling by wickham is just a game of one man upmanship

Happy family day to my fellow BajCans.

  23. @ac
It appears as if the poll was flawed, Mr Wickham told the Nation about and offered to redo it free of charge, but they refused and still went to press with it.
That is why Mr Wickham had to redo the poll. By the way it was done while he was out of the country.
Two friends of mine were polled and what I gathered is that the respondents could not give the answers they want to give because the interviewer stated they must respond according to the pre-set answers on the questionnaire.

  26. @Hants that your opinion and I accept as such. No need for the strong language because my opinion differs from yours. By the way how is this debate about the note going to help us out of this “junk hole” have not heard anything yet from Mr Stuart to that effect. All that he and his team are going is finding fault with the Oppostion hoping that we would be side-tracked by all the long talk. Maybe Hants you can lend him a hand in solving the situation or at least offer some suggestions.

  27. Now to add insult to injury “a flawed poll” what de fuc..k. I hope fuh wickham sake that story about a flawed poll is not true cause it can cause much damage to his credibiltyu which most see as questionable.

  28. Speaking of the “flawed poll” but then a new poll with confusing results would only help to mobolise the DEMS with a vengance killing two birds with one stone which can end the career of wickham and OSA

  29. Watching wrote “Maybe Hants you can lend him a hand in solving the situation or at least offer some suggestions.”

If you have been reading BU you would see that I joined others in making viable suggestions that include..

Food security, stopping the importation of gas guzzling vehicles, importing Hybrid and Electric vehicles, building solar and other energy plants to reduce the dependence on imported Oil etc.etc.

But wunna want everything that we can buy up here. But when the (economic)hurricane come…

Read this in Nationnews. “Owen Arthur said โ€œIโ€™ve given Mia Mottley more opportunities to rise in Barbadian politics than anyone else,โ€

Really Owen. You have given her?

My interpretation is… But she failed so I had to take back the leadership of the party because she does not have the acceptance of the Barbadian hypocritical public.”

  30. @Hants
My apologies! Your ideas are laudable however we have a very serious current account problem. We cannot pay our bills without borrowing from the NIS each and every month to cover these recurrent expenses. By way government is collecting more monies in taxes and dues now than ever before yet we CANNOT pay our monthly bills and these are not expenses for capital projects. Help them please!

  31. I simply cannot understand what’s the fuss about. I see a ‘note’. no date, so name that was supposedly delivered by a scribe. If I was a lawyer, I would have ensured the letter to to forensic tested and it was from the recipient. Third and fourth party submission no good. Suppose you was set up Mr. PM?

  32. Tell me why
You are making sense. This silly note is only a red herring that is of great significance to dummies——-but then again, most of the populace is of that ilk!
But all is going well. This is the Bajan portion of the lead up to the events of Rev 17 & 18. Quite amazing

  33. Let us compare OSA’s note to the 17 point indictment Freundel Stuart wrote on David Thompson. Freundel Stuart is in no position to pull down OSA bearing in mind what he wrote on DT was worse.

David Thompson for President of the DLP 2005 Delegates
    “The Decision is Yours”
50th Annual Conference of the DLP

    1. From1994-2001, David Thompson lead the DLP with a free hand to do as he saw fit. Did we not end up with the unusual act of the people of Barbados voting against the opposition in 1999?

    2. Where is the IMF letter supposedly signed by Owen Arthur which was to be produced in Queen’s Park?

    3. Where is the St John Development Plan?

    4. Why was there a mass exodus of several of the candidates who ran in both the 1994 and 1999 elections?

    5. Why would a number of former candidates who are still members never want to take part in an election again under the leadership of David Thompson?

    6. Why was a BLP member Delisle Bradshaw [resented to the DLP as a candidate instead of Undine Whittaker in St Michael South East in 1999?

7.Why was Patrick Todd not permitted to run in the City as the preferred candidate in 1999?

    8. With all the supposed financial attraction in 1994 and 1999, why is it that the party is highly indebted after these two lections?

    9. By whom and why were the seats already lost by the DLP in the 1999 election declared vacant?

    10. Why was our manifesto of 1999 distributed 48 hours before Polling Day of January 20th?

    11. Can anyone explain why the supposed most popular national figure as DLP leader save only two seats in the 1999 general election?

    12. What has transpired since the resignation of David Thompson six weeks before the 2001 Annual Conference to encourage me or you to want the member for St John to lead us any where at this time?

    13. What level of commitment has the member from St John given to the Administration of the party or support offered to the Parliamentary group to justify support to become President and Chairman of this party at this time?

    14. Do we want to return to the days of internal hate, in fighting blood letting, cursing and ruling by division?

    15. Can we expect a sudden resignation again from the post of President if the member for St John is not soon made the leader of the opposition by the six sitting members in Parliament?

    16. Can we expect to ask for the support of the voters of Barbados if we present them a leader which they so clearly rejected in 1999?

    17. THINK!! Would you want the candidates already selected replaced?

    Vote for Stability and Continuity
Vote Freundel first on August 21st
Keep Freundel Stuart President of the DLP
    ……………………………………………………………………………

So Freundel knows about stabbing people in the back! After what he did to the now dead king, tell me Freundel, you really got the gall to criticise OSA!

  34. Tell me Why

Owen Arthur is being bated !
If the note was not authored by him…..only he can deny it !
Owen Arthur has a penchance for calling on his legai team ( he even did it during this 2013 campaign ) . If the note has nothing to do with him……let him put his legal team to work !

Imagine MAM reads this note and realised it was authored by OSA when he was telling her……she was the sweetest rose in the BLP !

Oh how FRACTURED they are !!!!

  35. @Prodigal Son

What is item #8 suggesting? Have you not been the one suggesting DLP campaigns have been awash with CLICO dollars?

  36. Remember that DT controlled the DLP. Remember the account called Families First?

  37. Is David Thompson the new Elvis? I thought Thompson was dead but apparently there have been several sightings of him in Barbados.

  38. Prodigal Son,

Your horse, OSA , while on a morning gallop around the Garrison (all by himself) fell and broke his foot.

There is no coming back for him……he has to be put down.
Freundel will put him out of his misery…..tomorrow night will be good time start !

    GANGNAM STYLE !!!!

    Stay tuned

  41. If the bees are really serious about having MIA as leader the one person whom many belives is the right person for the job. they would have to get rid of the gang of five on Thursdaythat would secure her chances of becoming the potential leader and PM In the not too distant future. with them around her chances are virtually nil.

  43. When was this note written? In 2010 in the height of the fracture between Mia and Owen? In any case, the date is inconsequential because it seems to be a joke.

What I’m curious about is what caused Owen to restate that he wants nothing to do with Frendel’s affairs and that he knows how to hold a party together. It sounds like Frendel had problems that he publicly stated he did not have.

However, the eager 11 wrote a detailed letter about why exactly they wanted to get rid of Freundel Stuart. That was written while the party was in government (not in opposition) they claimed they never had problems because of it and never publicly mended fences. Just saying.

  44. “boy MIA has her work cut out for her .having to choose between love of her party and RESPECT for herself”

it is clear that the blp is following the dlp stratgies. This morning on my way out, i noticed that the dlp had the natioanal colours wrapped around some poles, They look real sweet, This evening i saw pieces of red cloth not properly wrapped around the poles. one can tell that they have been hurriedly done. Further on the same poles where the blp cloth is wrapped, i see some dlp pictures to the bottom of some of the poles. Hope that they were not torn down.
