Alex McDonald – LIME Official

In a Press release issued yesterday, LIME announced “all post-paid mobile customers completing data streaming, browsing, tethering and downloading of documents, games and any other transactions which go via the WAP (Wireless Access Protocol) and/or Internet Gateways on the LIME data network will be billed”.

Nation Newspaper – 4/5/2012

Barbados Underground agrees with the decision by LIME’s management to increase mobile rates effective July 1, 2012. Today many Barbadians have been demonstrating outrage via the various media channels at what they believe is the obtuse manner LIME has unleashed its new pricing plan.  BU would venture the opinion that LIME has made its decision full in the knowledge that Barbadians will ‘keep noise’ but continue to subscribe to their services. Truth be told BU can’t wait until the next increase.

LIME prides itself on being a good corporate citizen although BU recalls that it was one of the first companies in Barbados at the onset of the global recession to retrench staff. It should come as no surprise after the recent settlement of the collective bargaining agreement with the Barbados Workers Union that LIME would seek to find ways to boost its revenue position.  It now has three quarters to get the job done.

Seriously, has anyone looked around to see the love affair which Barbadians, young and old, seem to have with mobile devices? Come to think of it, is the ban still in place for school children against carrying mobile devices to school? If it is obviously the rule is not being enforced. Well no surprises there.

Those who will dare to mention FTC, do not even go there!

You seem not to understand what is happening with labour at this time. At first, the Government brought the Employment Rights Act in force and after the employers, the Act was withdrawn. Now that the Act is no longer in force, the employers, not only LIME, are moving swiftly to clean house before the Act is eventually proclaimed.

The local hatchet man acting on the non-negotiable instructions of his London Office superiors said that the reason for the redundancies is reduced profitability of the local business.
Now if that is so we would wish to know if Alex and his sidekicks have received or will be receiving any bonuses- performance or otherwise.

Let him publish the financial figures and any bonuses paid to convince Bajans that the decision to lay off so many workers is justified. One suspects that C&W is preparing the local and EC regional operations for sale to some other player given the creeping presence of Karib Cable a new player to the market.
Maybe Karib Cable can take on some off the fired workers and give some serious competition to Lime or its future buyer.

FLOW is here !!!!!!! Alex get tek down he in charge of sales. A new man is on the ground and he get rid of some non contributors. Only the powder puff girls remain to be sent. The two of them cost LIME over $ 5 million dollars due to a miscalculation. All the PABX moved, mobile in shambles, TV barely wukking and some good men get send.
Are we seeing a fallen giant being euthanised ? All that leff up there now is a band of disorganized, misinformed leeches who are posing as business leaders interspersed with a few good persons who are in the minority.
May God help those who remain employed, it will be a hard road to travel.

Well effective October 1st. 2013 every department will be outsourced. Only sales & marketing will remain. The giant is dying !!

All the self made experts at LIME will now have to work at a real job. No more posturing as per the old days.

    Long live the king.

If they were not so greedy DIGI CELL would not have came here to get a better price and cost. We dont even want a LIME land line nor cell phone. All LIME did was to RAPE the Bajans for all they could get and take. Even after the phone is turned off they still look to charge you a few more months with no use of the phone.BILL , BILL, BILL ,, let them shut down and go , anther crook on their way out with greed .

  8. Believe BU discussed this matter a few years ago when it was obvious C&W had initiated a demerger. It seems the BWU and employees were taken or they play foolish.

SD gone ! Only RF left, let us see how long she will survive as she made the company payout thousands in commissions that were calculated wrongly. Retail personnel losted their jobs due to their ( RF & SD ) error.
We will see how many weeks before RF packs her bag as well….
