Market And Operations Study Of Four Seasons Barbados Hotel Project

The politically weighed Paradise Beach Development Project (Four Seasons) has become one of several hot potato issues in Barbados of late. Should the government intervene by investing NIS funds?  Are the original investors in the villa properties losing faith? A general election is looming and it is therefore very difficult to determine the motives behind many decisions. What is missing from the national conversation about the Four Seasons Project is empirical information.

Here is a document titled: MARKET AND OPERATIONS STUDY OF THE FOUR SEASONS BARBADOS HOTEL PROJECT which was prepared for the Inter American development Bank, a major stakeholder in the project.

  1. ‘Given the poor quality of much of the product on the island’

What a terrible indictment for a country that has had tourism as its main industry for so long.
Ministers of Tourism (past and present) should read this very carefully.

With the quoted RevPar figures, has this been compared with other Four Seasons hotels around the world and how does this compare with Sandy Lane?

  2. can’t turn the corner with another $10 million still outstanding to just “restart.” I”m curious as to the impact of these lawsuits on buyers who are trying to “hold strain.” Plus given government’s injection and guarantees, how liable are we as a country going forward as opposed to the “original developers?”

Unless there are injunctions how would they affect the project?

Chairman Persaud in his infinite wisdom must have ‘insurance’ to take care of such eventualities?

  3. QUESTION..How come with elections constitutionally due less than 10 months away, Govt is so cock sure than investing this $ 60 million WILL start off things creating jobs IN TIME for usthey to see some tangible benefits(elections)..but on payments (promises) on other issues CLico BarrahAx..”Give the man time”.???.The only other person who used to require so much time to act was the Barbadian character Easy Boy.
It got me wondering as the post (David)..” the motives behind many decisions”.

  4. Word reaching BU is that the Pickering Project has been cancelled. Would appreciate a confirmation.

Minister Kellman MP for St. Lucy has advised he is not aware of any decision to close.
