It can’t be. Not him. Whenever a prominent pillar of the community is accused of some form of sexual misconduct, friends and admirers insist that the charges don’t square with the really fine person they know. That’s what Michael Jackson’s adoring fans said when several of the boys he took to his bed came forward to say that, yes, he had been molesting them. That’s what former players and colleagues said when a former Penn State assistant football  coach was charged with sexually abusing eight underprivileged boys he’d been so kindly mentoring. That’s what fans of Herman Cain said when the presidential candidate —a likable Baptist minister—was accused of sexually harassing a series of women. An accusation is not proof of guilt, but I am constantly amazed at the willful  naiveté of these defenders. How can anyone over the age of about fifteen think that a “nice” person couldn’t possibly be a sexual predator?

If you’ve lived at all, you should have figured out that a person’s public persona is but the tip of an iceberg. It tells you little or nothing about what’s submerged  below the surface. Human sexuality is a complex, mysterious, and sometimes dark force; a pedophile can appear to be kindhearted and benevolent 99 percent of the time, and confine his predations to children he believes won’t tell. A public champion of women’s rights like Bill Clinton can also be a compulsive womanizer and serial sexual harasser. Pastor Jippy Doyle could passionately condemn the sins of lust and child abuse publicly while indulging in both privately.

Human beings are not consistent or transparent. We all contain multitudes. People can be successful and admirable in most of what they do, and still succumb to urges that shock even themselves.

    I also read his wiki bio and concluded he was smart (which I said in my piece) but being educated and intelligent does not mean that he was a good candidate. If being critical of him makes one a semi illiterate then some BU readers are in the same boat as millions of Americans.

    When one presents themselves as a candidate for the US Presidency you can be sure that your every action and statements will be analysed as the day is long. Thus when Cain said he would electrify the border fence to stop illegal immigration; when he said that he wouldn’t permit any abortion even in cases of rape, when he gave a fumbling response on Libya it was front page news.

    I notice that you are giving the Baptist preacher a pass and you didn’t mention the accusations of sexual harassment that were levelled against him or the revelation that he had a long affair which only ended when he began his Presidential race.

    Being qualified for President means that one must also show judgment and his judgment based on the skeletons that have fallen out of his closet has been piss poor.

    I don’t have much time now so I’ll leave you with another article on Herman which was written by a semi illiterate.

    As a legal luminary you should know that there is fairly comprehensive legislation with “stiff” penalties in regard to the physical violation in a sexual way of another individual without that person’s consent. The law governing rape is a classic piece of comprehensive legislation. Any type of insertion- by what ever method and with what ever type of device- into another person’s sexual body cavities without that adult person’s consent can be considered as RAPE. So a male adult can be charged for raping another male if he forcibly inserts any device or tool (no pun intended), mechanical of otherwise, into the anus of the other non-consenting male.

    Caswell, if I am wrong correct me please; because we know you are very steep in and forceful with the legal system and with the Law being an Ass is no sport on the monkey backside (LOL!!)

    you don’t read do you? who were the boys who made that accusation? last i know in the first case, the child’s father who was the one doing the accusing killed himself 2 months after michael jackson died. the second case was an out right set up. the boys’s mother tried the same thing on another actor but was unsuccessful. no other boy has ever said MJ molested them and it’s certain now after his death that many realized that he was the one taken advantaged of. get ur facts correct

    I have no idea what makes this man tick … maybe he is a key member of a Lodge and is being put through for the big task of Rep President, another man of colour. Matters not to me. But what I am clear about is that it is these Black men, the ones who are gifted in some way, enough so to make it through the maze that is White male America, that are sure to be the ones to do the most damage to the Blacks once they attain office, for their philosophy is normally one such as :- if I can do it, well so the hell can you …!     My post sought to highlight his CV and his accomplishments only. Nowhere did I say that this was all that was necessary. I am not interested in the electorate or made no remarks about them . What ever the income, I will get my salary. So I don’t really care if he loses wins or draws. But I do object to a set of semi illiterates maligning a man for sins that are rampant among us.

    First let me say that I have not read anything you said about Cain or Abel.

    Like you I concluded that the man is smart- which was the main point I sought to make in my note, which is basically all about his CV.

    At least he seems to have BEEN A DOER AND NOT JUST A TALKER .

    I also note, and know that in today’s world being educated and intelligent does not mean that one is a good candidate for anything. It seems that being a good talker is. Nor did I say that being critical of him makes the one who criticizes semi illiterate. However, it can not be denied that many semi illiterates post on BU.

    Please kindly note that I don’t really care about Cain or Abel, and their candidacy for US Presidency. I said what I said, and what I said is very clear. It is not my fault that there are semi illiterates on BU or in the US. Being in the US or American is not any standard that I hold up.

    I did not give any Baptist preacher a pass, and I did not mention accusations of sexual harassment that were leveled against him or the issue of his extracurricular acquisitions of sex, because I was merely seeking to express my appreciation of his success in life as a black man.

    I am interested in his accomplishments as ONE WHO HAS DONE as appose to another who has merely talked, though also thought to be educated and intelligent- a modern day sin. And I thought that allegations were just that…….allegations unless they were proved to be FACT!

    The current President is a man of impeccable judgement right?

    I do not know much about Cain so I can not and will not judge him, as one can not adjudicate with out the facts. I am interested in his achievements and stated thus.

    You guys that know all, and that are without sin can judge accordingly It is written JUDGE RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT AND NOT BY THE APPEARANCE.

    In my view, if Obamer can be President, any one can be President. Obamers track record speaks for itself. That is my point of view.

    I also maintain that many semi illiterates post on BU normally, and have done so about this man. You can disagree with me or not, and all the other remarks you seek to make, will pass over my back as water passes over the back of every mallard.

    If a someone like Zoe, for arguments’ sake, simply for his sexual and spiritual gratification took a crucifix and shoved it up his own ass, would he be guilty of a criminal offense? Or does the type, shape or indeed size of the object matter …?

    Well, your need to fight tooth and nail to stem this onslaught on your cherished fundamentalist values and social mores. But the way you have described the gay & lesbian movement it seems these people do indeed have a lot of clout in influential and powerful places, especially those in the closet working behind the scenes.
    But lemuel, you must agree that the way you have described the modus operandi of these undermining corrupting forces it sounds as if you have a major battle on your hands. You are being attacked by two evil forces anathema to your accustomed way of life. From behind you have the GBSLT brigade with their paedophiliac agenda and attacking you full frontal are the jihadist muslims ready to turn your cherished Christian idyll into a caliphate. But although the fellows under the star and crescent moon banner would join you in a rear guard attack against the “abominables” trying to attack your behind, one is not sure if these same traditionalists with medieval values would accept you infidels in the liberation of women- worshipping and preaching in the same space as men with common social interaction and equal rights before the law.     DA Who Never Charged Sandusky Has Been Missing Since 2005

    Why didn’t Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar prosecute Jerry Sandusky the first time he was accused in 1998? We may never know, as Gricar disappeared in 2005. It is strange that Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar never prosecuted Jerry Sandusky on child-rape charges 13 years ago, some speculate, because Gricar was known for being fiercely independent and hard on crime.

    But it is even stranger that we cannot ask Gricar why Sandusky was not put behind bars, because the tough-as-nails district attorney disappeared in 2005. And though he was declared dead July of this year, his body has never been found. “People ask why Ray did not prosecute, and I have no problem saying, because he clearly felt he didn’t have a case for a ‘successful’ prosecution,” Tony Gricar, Ray Gricar’s nephew , told The Patriot-News. “… One thing I can say is that Ray was beholden to no one, was not a politician.” This district attorney had “a bitter taste in his mouth for the [Penn State] program, and its coach,” according to his nephew, and never prosecuted Sandusky. He disappeared on April 15, 2005 after telling his girlfriend that he was going on a drive.

    Ray Gricar’s car was found the next day in a Lewisburg parking lot and his laptop, sans hard drive, was found in the Susquehanna River, according to the Patriot-News. Ray Gricar’s friend, Montour County District Attorney Robert Buehner Jr., told the New York Times that if the ardent district attorney had committed suicide, he would have wanted his body found. But in the case of possible foul play, no suspects have emerged from investigations. When it comes to the Sandusky case, friends and former co-workers are all of the opinion that Ray Gricar would never back down from a righteous prosecution.

    “No one got a bye with Ray,” Anthony De Boef, who was an assistant district attorney under Gricar for five years told the NY Times. “He didn’t care who you were; he had a job to do.” And, despite the fact that Ray Gricar had the mother of one of the alleged victims confront Sandusky while police listened, the 1998 report on Sandusky was labeled “unfounded” by the District Attorney’s Office, reports the Patriot-News.

    “I would say this about Ray: He would be extremely cautious in proceeding because he wanted to make sure that there would be a reasonable likelihood of conviction,” Buehner told the Patriot News. “You don’t want to go after someone high profile unless you have a compelling case.” As for the 2002 incident, in which a graduate assistant told Penn State coach Joe Paterno that he witnessed Sandusky raping a 10-year-old boy in the PSU locker rooms, there is no indication that Ray Gricar was notified, reports the Patriot-Times.

    ‘It was easy’: Rick Turley told a reporter that he was surprised at how many times he got away with abusing boys

    Boy Scouts repeatedly covered up abuse by homosexual leader who raped at least 15 boys

    Boy Scouts accused of repeatedly covering up abuse of leader who raped boys and even kidnapped one in stolen plane. The organisation had long recommended that troops kept abuse allegations a secret. The Boy Scouts has been accused of covering up the abuses of a paedophile who was repeatedly allowed back as a leader despite admitting to abusing boys in his care.

    Newly released documents show Boy Scouts of America officials didn’t call police after he admitted molesting three boys and welcomed him back as a leader even after he was kidnapped a boy in a stolen plane. Turley, now 58, said he is surprised at how many times he got away with it. An investigation has found that Rick Turley molested at least 15 children in Southern California and British Columbia over two decades, most of whom he met through American and Canadian Scouting. ‘It was easy,’ he told CBC News. He said that he thinks if the police had been called in 1979 when he confessed to abusing three boys it ‘probably would have put a stop to me years and years ago.’

    Instead, he ‘went back to the Scouts again and again as a leader and offended against the boys,’ he told the station. Turley is one of more than 5,000 suspected child molesters named in confidential files kept by the Boy Scouts of America. The organisation had long recommended that troops kept abuse allegations a secret. In Turley’s earlier known sexual abuse in 1971, he met a 10-year-old boy while working as a truck driver on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He offered to take Joey Day to cubs, but instead took him to a nearby lake where he coerced him into skinny dipping and molested him. Over the next two years, instead of taking the boy to cub meetings, he took him to his apartment where he plied him alcohol, showed him pornography and abused him. When the boy tried to tell his father about the abuse, he was beaten.

    In January 1975, Turley visited a Scout troop in Orange County and asked if an 11-year-old boy could show him around, saying he was ‘one of Canada’s top Scout leaders. He shared a sleeping bag with Eddy Iris in the mountains, before taking him to the airport where he stole a plane and after taking off reportedly told the boy: ‘You do realise you’ve been kidnapped, don’t you?’ When the plane ran out of fuel and made an emergency landing, Turley was arrested and pleaded guilty to child stealing. He was committed to Patton State Hospital as a ‘mentally disordered sex offender.’ After 18 months he was released on probation and ordered to return to Canada, but he instead got a job at a Boy Scout camp close to the hospital and worked at camps in San Bernardino and San Diego counties for the next three summer. By 1978 he had become a programme director at a Scout Camp in San Diego County. He persuaded the leader of a troop to let his son and two other boys stay at the camp for an extra night.

    When they went home they reported that they had been arrested. Turley admitted the offences but officials decided not to report them to police. ‘We were following exactly the national recommendations of the Boy Scouts of America and its board who set up the rules,’ Buford Hill, a former Orange County Scouting official told the LA Times. ‘You do not want to broadcast to the entire population that these things happen. You take care of it quietly and make sure it never happens again.’ Turley returned to British Columbia where he became a Scout Master again. At least two Canadian Scout leaders reported that Turley had boys share his tent on trips. In the mid 1980s officials decided rather than calling police or forcing Turley to step down that he should be transferred to another troop.

    In 1995, Turley was arrested when his girlfriend told police that he was sexually attracted to children. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, reduced to five on appeal, after he was convicted of five counts of molesting children. In 2000, while out on parole he was caught trying to coerce two boys into a relationship and was sent back to prison for two years. Turley now says that he is able to control his behaviour. When questioned by CBC News at a motel in Alberta where he now works he said that ‘it’s hard to put a number’ on how many boys he abused. Asked if he had a son, would he send him to Scouts, Turley said: ‘No, it’s still going on and will probably always go on.’ A Scouts spokesman told the LA Times: ‘The BSA has continued to enhance its youth protection efforts as society has increased its understanding of the dangers children face.’

Now I do not know who coined the phrase “kiss my ass” (with respect of course), but it surely must have been one of the majority inclined since it is never used (as I am aware) to be taken literally … You however have obviously become obsessive about this and I commend you for I believe this to be the first sign of baby stepping out of the closet. I do not scorn you, but encourage you as a human being to do what is comfortable for you and leave the narrow minded to wallow in their ignorance. I as a heterosexual, cannot imagine the agony that you face on a daily basis, but rest assured that I think no less of you.

This man has a checkered pass one that would make Cain look like a choir boy and yet he is getting a pass to run for president. Who are we trying to fool! not forgetting that Cain’s indiscertions are also part of his past.

    the USA baffles me sometimes. I completely agree with the sentiment expressed in your 7:57 post. How is it that Gringrich is the Republican front runner with his past infidelities and ethics violations? While there are allegations made against Cain, Gringrich failings are a matter of record!     Former headteacher jailed for 21 years for beatings and sex abuse of boys

    ” A former boarding school headmaster who sexually and physically abused boys during the late 1970s and early 1980s was today jailed for 21 years.

    Derek Slade, 61, of Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, was found guilty of sexually assaulting and beating 12 boys aged between eight and 13 following a four-week trial at Ipswich crown court. He was convicted of more than 50 offences, including possessing pornographic images of children on a computer.”

    Police: Chesco coach sexually abused boys

    ” A 70-year-old Chester County man – a youth baseball coach and former teacher – is accused of a years-long pattern of sexual abuse involving four boys ranging in age from 4 to 11, authorities said this morning.

    William L. Rhoads, of Charlestown Township, was charged Sunday with nearly 300 counts of sexual offenses, including rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, and related crimes, the Chester County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

    Rhoads, a retired mechanical engineer and former physics teacher at Villa Maria Academy in Malvern, coaches baseball for the Kimberton Youth Athletic League, the release said. He was arraigned Sunday before on-call District Judge Daniel Maisano and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post $5 million cash bail…”

    What does it matter who wins the nomination or in deed the presidency. There will still be bombings, large military spending, joblessness and tax cuts for the wealthy. Presidents do not call the shots …. never did. They all like the good life for themselves and their families.

    What matters is that the joke public continues to be intrigued … do you people not have something better to do with your time?
