Caribbean Radio Show interviewing Timothy Aldred on his new book

Some on BU will find this blog distasteful, you are cautioned that the video is not complimentary of the Bible and religion. In fact the author Timothy Aldred of the book BAMBOOZLED! refers to the Bible as rubbish which should be tossed into the garbage.

It is no secret BU has led discussion on religious subjects in the Barbados space sometimes with emotional effect. We have some individuals who have stopped posting on BU because of opinions and perspectives shared about religion. Those of us with commonsense know that believing in whoever God is a leap of faith and using logic to justify a position is illogical.

Believe in what Deity tickles your fancy and to hell with whoever thinks otherwise!

  1. @TMB

“The ancient Egyptians were black. This is the thesis of another of YBJ’s books, Black Man of the Nile. In actuality, the ancient Egyptians were somewhat tan- or olive-skinned…”

    You are the worst.

Have you ever read VS Naipaul? “Black Skin, White Mask”? They say you can start with a Black man and end up with a white one. Are you living proof of this evolutionary change in one lifetime? Sometimes I wonder if you are an integral part of the imperialists agenda, from what you write. One thing for sure, you have demonstrated great BELIEF in it and without a DOUBT. Of you I say, I hath not seen anyone with greater faith. Well, yes, that is a feather in the cap for you. Say thanks.

  2. To Terrence:
Don’t let them fool you about that call from Akhenatan to worship one God. When the city he built was discovered, it was found that he had really called for all in Egypt to worship one god The SUN, and leave out the worship of the many gods that had arose in Egypt.

  3. @TMB
“Of course many critics date Exodus late, to 600 BC; we would say 1400 BC. On the other hand, the Sargon story “lacks any obvious grammatical, lexicographical, or philological feature that would allow a precise dating.” [97] The initial date range is anywhere between 2039 and 627 BC.”

Be serious. Did you look at what you wrote? Let me position it for you:
    Bible 1400 – 600 BCE
    Sargon 2039 – 627 BCE

If we take it to the extremes and say the Bible was 1400 BCE then Sargon was 2039 BCE, so the scholars had 600 years to copy Sargon.

If on the other hand we say that the Bible is 600 BCE, then Sargon is 627 BCE.

What is the probability that the Bible is older than Sargon? One thing I would say is that if the dating range make Sargon the older of the two stories because the Bible (according to you) cannot be placed older than 1400 BCE while the story of Sargon can be placed earlier.

  4. To ROK:
Mister well read V.S. Naipaul did not WRITE white skin black mask. You need to look to our sister island of Martinique for the answer F. Fannon. Yet again you demonstrate you narrow minded reading forays.

  5. @ lemuel,

I am not going to waste time with you telling me foolishness about having faith in a Mayan Calendar. Just very typical of Christians to hang on to straws. Where did you see I said I have faith in a Mayan calendar? This is the dishonesty that I can’t deal with. Later.

  6. Trust you to think that because I mentioned an author and the book of another author that you thought I was speaking about the same author.

  7. To ROK:
If you mention an author and then stat the title of a book what do you expect one to think. What is beef about V.S. Naipaul. What do he do for black people. I hope you know he is east indian and carefully read his Miguel Street under the surface he is not to complimentary about black people. I must say as a young man I enjoy it immensely.

  8. To ROK:
You are like the typical supporters with your kind of views. You have no room for persons to disagree with you. Yet you fight up about being the best solution for humanity. If your view dominated then there would be peace on earth and all that rubbish. But you demonstrate a spirit of being a tyrant and a dictator. We are to sit here and allow you to bring all types of spurious theories and speculation but find it difficult to believe that “thinking people ” can believe in a God. You know why we can believe; it is because we have cast off, unlike yourself, man made foolishness. We go to the source of wisdom and understanding. And yes we have a rich experience that allows us even when one has to relook why we believe that buttresses us . For unlike you who crave to be little gods on earth we know that we are flesh and blood and need a saviour and his name is Jesus Christ.

  9. Problem is, I never mentioned an author and stated the name of the book after it. I asked two questions. I am wasting my time here.

  10. @ Lemuel…

Seriously….must you be put in your place for you to see you are wrong in attacking a person again?
For someone who claims to read, your comprehension skills are about that of Cornwall!!

…”Have you ever read VS Naipaul? “Black Skin, White Mask”?

I (and I aint any intellectual) saw this as 2 separate questions.

The question mark ended the first question, then there was a second.
Any person who is an avid reader (not me, you already said you know I dont) would have understood the connection between the two authors BUT like always, in you over zealous nature to discredit others, was frothing and blinded to this fact.
You need to think for yourself and stop taking up other’s fire rage.
You are really making yourself look like Cornwall!!

  11. @Lemuel,

    This is dedicated to you:

“You are like the typical supporters with your kind of views. You have no room for persons to disagree with you. Yet you fight up about being the best solution for humanity. If your view dominated then there would be peace on earth and all that rubbish. But you demonstrate a spirit of being a tyrant and a dictator. We are to sit here and allow you to bring all types of spurious theories and speculation but find it difficult to believe that “thinking people ” can believe in a God.”

What could be more spurious than the Bible? What can be more speculative than the way you and your ilk supposedly “interpret” the bible, like if people can’t read and don’t have sense? The Bible needs no interpretation, it is as clear as day. All you people do is twist it and turn it to suit your own ends… and then try to ram it down somebody’s throat because you think you have the truth.

You need to wake up, because you are the dictator. I am sure you want to see me in hellfire because I don’t subscribe to your story… and have the gall to call me a dictator? I am not asking you to believe anything that I say, if I ask anything of anybody it is to consider the evidence. This is more than 35 years I have been considering the evidence and I have drawn some conclusions, one of which is that the stories in the Bible existed long before the Bible and in a different context. Hence the Bible is a plagiarism.

You want to kill me for saying so or wish the worse for me and then try to tell me that I am a dictator? Wicked!

  12. Have you ever read Shakespeare? The Holy Bible?

Now, by Cornwall’s logic, it would seem as though Shakespeare wrote The Holy Bible.

‘If I was educated I would be a damn fool’……Robert Nesta Marley.

  13. Where de heck is selector Kiki when you need tunes?

    Selector….wheel and come!!

  14. Many things that led me to believe that the claims to god as the creator in the Bible were not on all fours. Here are two:
    1. God the Omniscient: Why did God’s followers have to place a mark in sheep’s blood on their door post so that God would know that followers lived in those houses? This is God the omniscient?

    2. Christ is claimed as the only son of god, yet, “The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair and went in unto them and giants were born…” (not an exact quote, but the gist). This means that not only did god have sons before Christ, but that they were flesh and blood just like us (probably made up of different genes) and enjoyed sex the same way. Who are these people? When they came down to go in unto the daughters of men, did they marry? Did they simply snatch women and raped them because of the lust for fair women? Were any of these women married? Sounds like this excursion was a terror to those who encountered the sons of god; both the act and the results.

  15. Examine this verse:

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

Let us look at the first sentence, “Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness…”

Was man already in existence but in a different image to what we know now? (BTW, there is a clue to this in the Hindu religion).
Was this really the creation of man or the changing of man from one image to another?
Was “god” a scientist familiar with genetics who modified man? Changed man from the original state? Remember that our scientists are telling us that there are gaps in the evolution of man, especially from Homo Erectus to Homo Sapiens.

  17. To ROK:
It seems that you have yet been to be exposed to sacrificial systems. Yes, devil worshipers and pagans and some jews who decided not to left that practice in Egypt used it too, but they normally sacrificed their sons and daughters or as some people in barbados used to do other people sons and daughters; we used to call them the heart men. The blood on the door post was a type of the blood of the lamb of God, the Jesus Christ; you see when certain calamities start around here only those who are covered by the blood of the lamb shall be safe, because all others would have chosen their side. It also pointed to the jewish sacrificial system at whose heart is the lamb of God or the Son of God. I know that you know all about christ’ death, even if you don’t want to believe.

To the sons of god and daughters of men, there two groups of people living on the earth; those who followed God and those who chose not to follow God. hence, this is where the labels came from. When the sons of god formed a relationship with the daughters of men, this was in defiance of God’s rule. They were not gods or any kind of gods. As God says, there is only one God and that is Him. Only a scratching the surface approach to reading the Bible would derive as you have from those texts. Remember all who come to God through Christ shall be sons of God, as Christ has restored our relationship with His Father. If these god beings existed where are they now for as god they could not die.

  18. To ROK:
At the beginning the earth, from which man was formed, was without form or void. So there is little chance that there was something to genetically rearrange. For those of you who don not accept the God as three in one in UNITY, here they are at the beginning. Hence the words let us.

  19. The first Christians were the Hebrews and the Hebrews were Africans. Who drove them underground? Also who drove out the Egyptians, who are now called the Dogon People?

After 1 BCE, it was the new (fake) Christians who then destroyed the libraries of Egypt under the guise that the books were evil. Christians still behave the same way today. A sense of insecurity. So anybody who goes against or preaches something different is sent to hell in fire and brimstone and cursed is the worst way.

Yet the story of Christ teaches them, “He without sin cast the first stone.”

  20. To ROK:
I never called you wicked or evil or would want to confine you to anywhere I see you as a seeker as myself, but you and your kind have come here and attempting to brow all who defend the Word of God. Yes, there are times to turn the other cheek, but you very mistaken to think the time is now. What is more stupid than to think that you (man) the crowning beauty of God’s creation came from a piece of slime or a monkey. Now that they have discovered some closeness to a rat, will you be calling yourself a rat. To think that God could come to design but all he could come up with is the foolishness that is being bantered about this post as the true beginnings of the human race.

  21. Techie, Techie:
Don’t talk about taking up fire rage and yet do ti yourself. Vs naipual is an author, black skin .. is a book. You asked two questions that are contiguous. hence the reader MUST take it that you are referring to a book by the same author that was aforementioned. Don’t be an ass Techie.

  22. @ Lemuel
“To the sons of god and daughters of men, there two groups of people living on the earth; those who followed God and those who chose not to follow God.”

    Give me a break.

  23. @ Lemuel,
“For those of you who don not accept the God as three in one in UNITY, here they are at the beginning. Hence the words let us.”

    Give me another break.

  24. Could somebody with a little better understanding than this come to the rescue of Lemuel:

“Now that they have discovered some closeness to a rat, will you be calling yourself a rat.”

  25. bloodsuckers
    vampires that massacred africa
    was it american slavetraders
    or european colonialisers

  26. “You asked two questions that are contiguous. hence the reader MUST take it that you are referring to a book by the same author that was aforementioned. Don’t be an ass Techie.”

Unless you don’t understand or know what is going on? The real reason I wrote an author and then a title is because on the spur of the moment, as I was writing, the title came to me and not the name of the author… but I had in mind calling other authors like James Baldwin, Henrick Clarke, Walter Rodney (Nearly wrote, “How Europe Underdeveloped Africa”) and many others who commented on post slavery sociology and politics of that time.

I see that Cornwall a bit slow today…

Have you ever read Shakespeare is a question I have been asked many times…..tell me Cornwall….is Shakespeare a book??

    Basic common sense Cornwall!!
You just to blasted proud or shame to say you are wrong!!
What make you look even more ignorant (if that is possible) is the fact that you KNOW both the author AND the book. You are just being your ignorant ass self by now trying to dig yourself out the hole you dug.
Blasted hypocrite you….and dare call me an ass….lol
Dont worry Cornwall…..you safe…..no matter how long this recession last!

  28. The thing is….even after ROK explained this, you still cant accept the fact that you misunderstood.

Pride is a serious sin, Cornwall

  29. “I never called you wicked or evil or would want to confine you to anywhere I see you as a seeker as myself, but you and your kind have come here and attempting to brow all who defend the Word of God.”

I am not surprised that you feel overwhelmed. It is what you do to others. You called Techie an ass and tell people how ignorant they are, yet when you get back a dose of your own medicine, you ready to go into a corner and cry.

The next time you seek to call people names and browbeat them with your less than generous utterings and offerings, I hope you remember how you felt when it was done to you and cease the unsociable behaviour.

Right now, I have no more time for this. Remember, a word to the wise is enough. We will see how wise you are.

  30. Techie, techie:
Why do you continue this. When some ask you if you had read shakespeare they are referring to any books written by shakespeare. I am now seeing ROK’s explanation of what he intended. But i do you expect me, the miscreant that you believe I am, to dare to read the great ROK’s mind. Remember, you called me cornwall first, techie.

    To ROK:
Like you have explored egytology; yes, i met, personally Prof. Diop and Moore and the other sin their hey day. As a black man I am not ascribing everything to the wiles and bad ways of the european. Yes, i read walter rodney. Yes, we have been unfaired and mistreated and miseducated, but never come too an open forum thinking that people are not aware of what you know or have read. But we make the mistake of thinking that we had some great worship or spiritual system that some body carried away and now let us get back to the old ways. I am not worshiping any forms of paganism.

  31. To techie and ROK:
I have to go, but as the man in hyde park at speakers corner used to say every sunday. Those of you i did not offend come again. Those of you who I have offended, it was not intended and may have been the heat of the battle.

” the ancient Egyptians were somewhat tan- or olive-skinned, as their tomb paintings clearly illustrate, where it is clear that they distinguish themselves from their Ethiopian counterparts…”

TMB what is the source of your information ?
I will refer you to some sources :

“Many of those who have studied ancient Egyptians have commented on their characteristically ”tropical” or ”African” body plan ..”(Warren, 1897; Masali, 1972; Robins, 1983; Robins and Shute, 1983, 1984, 1986; Zakrzewski, 2003).

“Recent work on skeletons and DNA suggests that the people who settled in the Nile valley, like all of humankind, came from somewhere south of the Sahara; they were not (as some nineteenth-century scholars had supposed) invaders from the North.” See Bruce G. Trigger, “The Rise of Civilization in Egypt,” Cambridge History of Africa (Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, 1982), vol I, pp 489-90; S. O. Y. Keita, “Studies and Comments on Ancient Egyptian Biological Relationships,” History in Africa 20 (1993) 129-54.

“In 1997, the German Institute for Archaeology headed an excavation of the tombs of the nobles in Thebes-West, Upper Egypt. At this time, three types of tissues were sampled from different mummies: meniscus (fibrocartilage), skin, and placenta. Archaeological findings suggest that the mummies dated from the New Kingdom (approximately 1550/1080 BC)… Skin sections showed particularly good tissue preservation, although cellular outlines were never distinct. Although much of the epidermis had already separated from the dermis, the remaining epidermis often was preserved well (Fig. 1). The basal epithelial cells were packed with melanin as expected for specimens of Negroid origin.”
    — A-M Mekota1, M Vermehren. (2005).

The French writer Constantin-François Volney (1757-1820), in his important work, The Ruins of Empires, extends this point of view by saying that the Egyptians were the first people to “attain the physical and moral sciences necessary to civilized life.” In referring to the basis of this achievement he states further that, “It was, then, on the borders of the Upper Nile, among a Black race of men, that was organized the complicated system of worship of the stars, considered in relation to the productions of the earth and the labors of agriculture; and this first worship, characterized by their adoration under their own forms and national attributes, was a simple proceeding of the human mind.”

Volney’s Ruins; or, Meditation on the Revolutions of Empires, Boston, J. Mendum, 1869.

Appolodorus, who lived in the first century before our era, commented on Egypt as Negroes:
“Aiguptos captured the country of the black footed ones and called it Egypt after himself.”

Maiherpri, Buried in Thebes, Valley of the Kings, New Kingdom 18th Dynasty, 1427-1392 B.C.
Maiherpri was buried in the sacred burial sites with other Egyptian kings in in Thebes, (Valley of the Kings).
On the picture, he is clearly woolly haired and dark skinned.Maiherpri was buried in a Royal Tomb in the Valley of the Kings, the royal necropolis.
The mummy was unwrapped in March 1901, revealing a very dark skin with woolly hair. In Maiherperi’s tomb, a papyrus was found depicting him with literally “blackish” skin. The papyrus in question was the Book of the Dead(Papyrus of Maiherpri).
