Barbados Underground understands the Trimart Rendevous property was purchased by former Chairman of the problem plagued HOPE Incorporated Tony Hoyos. Barbadians should recall during the recent budget presentation delivered by newly minted leader of the opposition Ralph Thorne the HOPE project was heavily criticised for not delivering on its mandate. Thorne’s concern was $60 million paid to the project and only 130 houses built after about 18 months, the objective was to have 5 000 completed. The Prime Minister was reluctantly forced to concede that the HOPE project has issues which are being investigated. In true Mottley style, she promised to report on the matter at some undeclared time. The record shows the current Chairman of Hope Inc is retired Director of Finance William Layne.

The blogmaster is not optimistic Prime Minsiter Mia Mottley will share information to implicate actors involved at HOPE. We also have another promise, this one from leader of the opposition Ralph Thorne to investigate HOPE Inc when he convenes the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Has the PAC in a post Independence Barbados ever conclude any investigation that resulted in wrongdoers being held accountable?

Do not forget we continue our vigil on the prime minister’s promise of an intervention into the SAVVY on the Bay matter, a promise delivered to citizens (fools) since August 2023.

If it is true that Hoyos has secure ownership of the property at Rendezvous to construct condos – in the interest of transparency – when did he apply and what are the conditions for developing the area from the Planning and Development department (PDD). Is he associated with the sale of the wetlands at Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary?

Tony Hoyos is known to be the partner of deputy prime minister Santia Bradshaw and one who is perched high in the BLP hierarchy. It is important the public keeps a close watch on politically exposed persons in small Barbados by following the money.

  1. Everything is interlocking and locked down and the White shadows are everywhere!

Affairs of the heart and government power are almost always a toxic brew!

  2. @TLSN

DIDN’T KNOW YOU WERE A SHERI VERONICA NAKED DEPARTURE FAN AND FOLLOWER. LOL

  3. Well i have no doubt if this is true that he will have no problem getting change of use and approval from the town planning. I mean after all wunna expect different ?

  4. I will follow the protocol as I have come to understand it.

    1. I should wait until a report is issued before making a comment
2, I should realize that the same thing happens in the USA, England, France and in fact everywhere
    3. If the word popular says “Case is closed” or “there’s no case then I should keep my mouth shut.
Anything else, on my part, is unpatriotic.

  5. “Elementary! My dear Theo when a man with blinkers sees better than a man without, it is obvious the latter is blind. Forget about rose colored spectacles”.

“My dear Theo, not all forms of patriotism are good.. Give me a patriot who cries out at the stench and points at the putrid carcass. I do not want a patriots who holds his nose and says does not say anything”.

“Sherlock, you are the only friend that I have. and can be honest with. My good friend will roast me”.

  6. Doesn’t the PM own property across the main road?

  7. It seems to me that certain parties have their golden children. When one in power those children can get everything they want done. When the other one in power them got their platinum children and the same story applies.

There is only i child i see that prospers from both parties and moves with the swiftness of light from being a platinum boy to a golden boy. He must be truly the chosen one!

I thought the Chairman of HOPE according to RAT is a “white foreigner” who chairs remotely? Secondly, I always thought the target was 2,000 houses per year in totality ie across ALL government programmes? Are you saying HOPE alone was to deliver 3,300 of the 2,000 per year at a cost of $12,000 each, including site infrastructure? A supermarket to a mixed use in Worthing is a no brainer! Next door is an office building, across the street is a bank with housing above, Massey, Duty Free Bdos etc. In the interest of transparency, when did a private citizen apply for planning permission? Whaaat? You appear to be swiping in the dark with a Savvy mask on. Be a bit more robust in your evidence to support the allegation that is “pellucidly clear” in your post. I’ll wait.🤣

  9. Or….. you can continue to be deliberately misleading as is your wont and WANT.

NEVER have I denied that there is corruption in Barbados! In fact, I have concluded as much on a currently running blog! I also remember your acknowledging that I had you beat in the “poetry” department on that same issue. But what has that to do with, for instance, firemen turning up to a fire without water?

I have declared my intention to circumvent Ms. Bradshaw’s threats of legal action and speak my mind regardless of the proposed Cybercrime Bill. And, unlike some, I know exactly how that can be done. I will continue to QUESTION when something smells fishy. This is what smart people do when proof is beyond their reach. You, can continue, from afar to run with rumour as fact and be silly with it, comparing apple situations with orange.

End of Part One. Your brain is two shallow to hold a lot at one go.

  10. TOO shallow! Lord, it is harder than teaching three year olds!

Mark Maloney, Hoyos . Does it really matter ? As we were told the die hards don’t give a damn about infelicities. We are convinced that if Mottley or Thorne , get up tomorrow and put a for sale price on the country and some billionaire buys it ; we would defend it , depending on which party is in power.
The best way to understand the mentality of who we are, is to read national political commentary, including BU, from 2008 to now. Our collective hypocrisy , clearly demonstrates who we are.
Perhaps, we have already been sold because we really don’t know , who are the real buyers. We’ll probably hear the announcement of the purchase at a town hall meeting and depending on who makes the announcement, there would be great applause and dancing in the streets.

I feel like I am missing something. It is not surprising to me somebody wants to build condos here, rather, who wants to live in them?
There are four new low rise blocks at Rockley, a few hundred yards up de road, which aren’t selling, and their prices keep going up. If folks are apprehensive there because some are ‘right on the road’, then this location is double trouble.

  17. Skinner

    Why?

Has these things not been done already, by stealth?

Is there anything else, nailed down or not, which can’t be sold?

  18. NO
Not if the living units on the upper floors, modern design and have the right amenities.

  19. David

Ain’t Hoyos own the condos in the Gap and the ones where Plantation used to be before “lofty office”? I am not here to defend anybody and I support scrutiny but let’s stick to the truth. When ND is a source, look out.

  20. Enuff we agree on something.

Floors 6-14 could have great views and be above the ‘madding crowd’.
Will wait until a project is designed, approved and for sale.
The height would also lessen the mosquito effect, which can be an issue there.

This group steals more with their incompetence than a clever thief with well laid plans.

It pains me to see the word incompetence being used in our discussion. The great Hal Austin was wrong. He used to claim that the problem with Barbados was not one of corruption, it was of incompetence. I now see the word incompetence appearing in a number of different posts and have been forced to ask myself serious questions:
    ????
    1) How can intelligent men and women make repeatedly make financial mistakes?
    2) How can we spend large sums of money on ventures and they all fail or fall short?
    3) How can we with the aid of consultants fail miserably with our estimates?
    4) How do other islanders like ourselves outwit the world smartest men?
    5) Why are the same folks benefitting?
    6) How come expertise is restricted to just one or two folks… vaccine procurement – Maloney,
    7) How can the Cayman Islands make money flying empty planes to Barbados and we cannot make money flying empty planes to the Cayman islands?
Is zero there worth more than zero here?
Do we lack negotiation skills or are our numbers just wrong?
    8) How come cheques just fall on the desk of politicians?

The conclusion is clear. Our problem is not one of incompetence, it is one of outright corruption. What we have are thieves entering the bank and somehow stumbling their way through the vault and leaving with their pockets full of your dollars. Bunglers is what I call them, crafty bunglers. They will steal more with incompetence than a clever thief with well laid plans.

You mean BOTH the BLP and DLP or just the BLP?

  24. When the wealth of a country is concentrated in the hands of a few its a recipe for civil unrest someday coming soon. Even Stevie Wonder can see that.

  25. “You mean BOTH the BLP and DLP or just the BLP?”

Mr West! Mr West! I have been called many thing, but have never felt so insulted..

The separation into B and D occurs on your end and not on my end.. No one gives me Vaseline and so it is always painful regardless of who the thieves are.

The difference between us is that I am focused on the man currently looting the bank or trying to pick my pocket. Hopefully, you can join me .

  26. Only a SPIRITUAL CURSE can explain the idiocy and PERSISTENCY of our plight, as the SAME set of white shadows and their ‘Judas-like’ associates, plunder our treasury… while piling on TAXES, upon TAXES, upon Levies, … for increasingly PISS POOR services like medical, transport, housing, education etc..

Even a monkey would have caught on by now, how he is being ‘unfaired’… and would have uprooted all your young plants, and broken off the antenna from your car…
But not brass bowls….we not so bright…

‘Tom Dick and Harry’ are able to get MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR deals – which ALL fail, while costing tax payers MILLIONS – but Tony, DooShiite and Markie ALWAYS manage to come out LICKIN …and squeaky clean with ‘no case to answer…’ (unless the trespass in Miami) – as Enuff will no doubt argue…

The Bad news is called KARMA….
Coming to a crook near us all …and soon.

    What a place!!!

  27. What about Altman changing the Pierhead project to condos, abandoning the original plan that had hotels? Didn’t the PM brag about a hotel corridor all the way up to Pierhead.
Does this mean Hyatt is done too?

  28. If you missed my point, the last line in my Cayman Island post would have made it clear to all with comprehension skills what my verdict was.

  29. @ William Skinner

Is it fair for the Massive housing project called Allure on Brandon’s Beach belonging to the said Mark Maloney to erect large signage and advertisements on private property? Reports received, When ask to give a stipend for the 8 months they advertised without any consent from the owners they pack up and move out. No hands greased, No pockets Wet!
… Nothing to show for this level of injustice! But who can the small man turn too huhh against these Giants…. Some of which are politically perched!

  30. Mr West! Mr West! I have been called many thing, but have never felt so insulted..

Mr. The OG, I asked you a question that required only a YES or NO answer, and you talking about what people called you and that you felt insulted?

    WTF????

Donna like she RIGHT, yuh. Your COMPREHENSION SKILLS like duh POOR in truth.

Don’t care how you to be smart and try to spin, hide things and find fault of people like John2 and Enuff, there ain’t much difference between you and them.

You see, in the blue corner duh got YOU, AC?, Donks Gripe and a few others, and in the red corner is Enuff, John2, Lorenzo and one or two more.

All uh wunnuh got one thing in common. All uh wunnuh are YARDFOWLS together.

  31. 🙂
    Mr West!

Now I feel disrespected and attacked by a cowardly and crazy chicken character. Is this Frank? You do have a writing style that is familiar.

    Why cowardly?
Instead of launching a direct attack like a real man would, you place Donna in front of you as you started firing.

    Why Crazy
Your comrades J2, enuff and Lorenzo must think you are crazy in attacking them. Why couldn’t that joker make his point without pigeonholing us as BLP soldiers?

    Why chicken?
It is interesting that you listed a number of yardfowls but omitted yourself. Should I assume that you have not reached fowl status as yet but is just a chicken?

You are not yet ready. Get your portion of grain and sit by yourself in the yard. I suspect that this crazy and cowardly chicken will not be seen again with same name.

  32. You are not ready but continue your training

  33. @ Redguard,

Remember Altman was a facilitator the investors were foreign. The truth is it all boiled down in the end to numbers. The capital outlay for what was proposed could not have seen a decent return for the investors hence the project got watered down. Ask yourself how many hotels were to start years now with a “coridore of brands from the Hilton to Bay Street.” It was so long that even the marketing manager of one that had a duty free mercedes, had to change it for an Aston Martin cause the Benz was getting old and not fitting to show the guest no more.

Plus remember in the central bank report for the first quarter 2 things, though hidden in the fluff stood out. One was tourism was up 14% but hotel occupancy only up 4% and secondly, even though the ARRIVALS exceeded pre covid levels the SPEND did not.

Wunna can draw you own conclusions.

  34. Mr. The OG, so mow I is a BLP.

You attack and insult and go all round the world to talk a lotta shyte when under pressure and using reverse psychology.
Insecure adults (and children) do that to back people off.
Nothing at all to do with the question I ask you.

    Ain’t gine wuk wid me.

You mean both the BLP and DLP or just the BLP?

Don’t worry bout writing style or if I is Frank. Leff out the shyte talk and answer the RH question.

  35. I must say those optics showing Maloney signing a deal with Afreximbank are revolting but not surprising. We were led to believe that finally displaced Africans brought over to Barbados to serve as slaves would now have the opportunity to reconnect with the “mother continent”: Africa. Yet, here we have a white man who has been the beneficiary of government largesse over the years in the process of signing paperwork to enable him to access loans to the value of US$100 million dollars.

Mia and Santia are taking domestic Bajans for real foolberts. The minority groups will receive the majority sum of finances from this so called “Afreximbank”. In the words of Bob Marley we are living in a pimper’s paradise embedded on the foundation of absolute corruption.

  36. David

Neither you nor any of the BUI has or can refute a word I’ve said so far. Read a bit more, get your facts straight and refrain from starting with a conclusion. Because you believe someone thief don’t inject the ridiculous to bolster your argument. It dilutes the message and questions your intent.

On another note, it looks like Hyatt will now start with what was the obvious delay (lack of finance) now sorted. Mottley with another master stroke in getting the Afreximbank to set up in Bim. After 25 years, the redevelopment of the Pierhead appears to finally be in motion as project number two gets set to start. Watch muh!!

  37. Not so long ago the distinguished Sanita Bradshaw went on local radio to browbeat and emasculate two black male Bajan business leaders, within the construction industry, claiming and I paraphrase that they lacked professionalism and were incapable of handling proposed government contracts. The interview was unedifying and undermined the reputation of those two business men.

In Animal Farm, I seem to remember that the animals and the humans would meet at Farmer Jones Manor house for dinner to discuss business on the farm. The Barbados farm goes a little bit further with the sharing of cotton paraphernalia.

What chance is there for the poor black man and woman when our elites appear comfortable in making the business lives for minority business communities amenable in the extreme at the expense of their own black brothers and sisters.

  38. Well, dog my cat! De cat got pups!

De stone dat de builder reject has become the head cornerstone!

    African meets “Afrikaan”!

And all Barbados breaks into a chorus of Ebony and Ivory!

If the man builds hotels like how he builds houses or procures vaccines…….

Wait! This is a bank? Wuh dem doan gih way money so!

I hope we signature en nowhere pon dat damn paper!

  39. @ Donna

What you better hope is the loan has not been guaranteed by the Government Of Barbados!

  40. Mr West
Answering your question would be a waste of my time as you have already bagged and tagged me as a D. It doesn’t matter, but I doubt if I can say anything to move myself out of your little box.

Don’t you realize how silly your question is
How silly is your question? I will give you a hard example. Do you remember Donville? Is he both BLP and DLP or DLP or a sleeping BLP member?

Let me follow with an even sillier question. Do you believe I think Donville is a BLP member?

Do you now see how silly your question was?

You are not ready. Take a victory lap and go to sleep.

  41. You are getting there. You have reached the stage where there is full comprehension. The leap has been made. Not out to sea, but out of the harbor.

  42. I am scratching my head and asking myself why a black led government is doing their maximum to rape the life chances out of their own black people. Mia stated after her first election victory, don’t worry, ” I got dis!”

  43. Jesus Lord, your head is hard! Is this the first time I have criticised the government in this way for its turn towards Mark Maloney and the constant presence of the pale vampires ??

No, no, no! It is NOT! And I wish that you would stop implying that it is! I spoke out against the “where’s my cut” DLP, the party for whom I had always voted, the party of monstrous Cahill debacle and the eyesore just off the Spring Garden Highway! I spoke out against The Grotto, Coverley, Apes Hill and the transfer of our NIS money into the pale pockets of so many failures!

What the hell would stop me from speaking out against a party for whom I was forced to vote? I spoke out against the cancellation of the VAT debt. I rebuked Santia Bradshaw for her disrespect to the black businessmen. For that I earned the title of Bird Brain and Disgruntled Dem!

Everybody knows that there is a vicious circle in Barbados. Those who started off with money, finance the silly political campaigns and in turn, they are facilitated to make more money with which they finance the silly political campaigns. It is so where you live. Why would I think that Barbados is any different?

It is kickbacks and cuts from pillar to post, and no anti-corruption bill can ever get passed.

The only difference between the two parties is in how much they manage to do DESPITE the corruption! The last DLP government did nothing! The hope was for this lot to be a bit more efficient.

But this picture in the paper made my stomach sick! It is too much!

    These people have no shame!

Politely, we have no answers. All we can do at this moment is to remember the Draytons Two : “it was written down” and we also quote The Hon. Dr. Anthony Carter : “NDP, BLP, DLP same party.”
    @ TLSN
Take it easy. Mark Maloney was so villified by Mia , that we all thought that he would be homeless by now.
We don’t know why there are crocodile tears. The TWIN has acted through to form.
The only good thing is that the apologists have to now eat humble pie. We hope they don’t choke.

  46. I am certain that “the apologists” are neither crying nor eating humble pie. Apologists will keep on keeping on, doing what they do. That’s what makes them apologists.

  47. @ William Skinner,

I believe this deal is tied to Barbados allowing for a direct air route from Nigeria to Barbados. No doubt some individuals on both sides of the Atlantic will use the opportunity for a spot of money laundering. No disrespect to my Nigerian brothers and sisters. There is a good reason why Nigerians struggle to obtain visas to travel.

Nigeria has absurdly high unemployment levels. As well as a decent number of incredibly wealthy individuals. The vast majority of Nigerians are desperate to quit their corrupt and impoverish country. I can’t see Barbadians heading to Nigeria. Yes they have an extremely vibrant culture. However the country is a disaster zone.

William it’s a good to let both ladies know that the BU family have them under surveillance. Another person we are monitoring is the Abed boy linked to the UAE. Your observation that Barbados has probably been sold off already, has been an observation that I have repeated several times on this platform.
