The following Auditor General’s report which probed 150 steel houses imported from China makes for the usual reading. It confirms an insensitivity to spending taxpayer’s funds.
You may recall the several hundred thousand dollars were frittered away on a tourism campaign which eventually binned by Prime Minister Mottley. Minister Lisa Cummins who was in charge of the tourism ministry at the time, strongly defended the Little Island, Big Island campaign was rewarded with a transfer to another ministry. In the case of the steel frames houses that were imported hot and sweated from China, Minister Duguid was transferred AND promoted. Some of us take exception to rewarding non performance and incompetence at taxpayer expense.

It was projected that the Project would have resulted in one
hundred and fifty (150) families/persons, affected by Hurricane
Elsa, receiving housing solutions as a result of the execution of
the Project by 31 s’ December 2021. Over the course of the Project,
the number of families/persons to receive housing units has
decreased, and at October 2023, only twenty-three (23) of these
housing units were slated to be assigned to those whose houses were destroyed…
