Things are so out of whack recently that I think we have gone haywire. Let me just toss a few random disjointed thoughts out there to get a real real feel for where we are right now.

  1. Persons on bail for vicious murders…BUT…end up committing others after
  2. Local parties and fetes are restricted…BUT…visitors can plan 2 months ahead of time and party soon with wild abandon
  3. Large outcry over the Trojan Riddim…BUT…and even larger outcry over the outcry over the Trojan Riddim
  4. MAM says take down the Riddim AND apologise…BUT…so far 166 thousand views, 3000 likes and Sunday School still wukking
  5. NUPW elected to represent workers…BUT….NUPW has to call in the police to save itself
  6. Minister boasts that cruise ships coming…BUT…positive cases still showing up on liners abroad
  7. We say the children under severe pressure…BUT…we force the same children to do Common Entrance
  8. Auditor General report speaks of problems…BUT…not a peep or pang from the GoB or BLP about it
  9. Cruise ships mashup Carlisle Bay coral…BUT…Minister says no problem he will plant it back
  10. Road tax removed to supposedly ease consumers….BUT……gas prices (and said tax) increasing every single month
  11. Hotel workers cannot be forced to take the vaccine…BUT…guests can demand that they do
  12. There is no price gouging they say…BUT…ask any supermarket buyer and you’ll hear different
  13. Four Seasons money written off by government…BUT…the main lawyer and main adviser running the same government coffers currently
  14. Verla’s ready to lead the DLP to next year’s election…BUT…she has to beat a certain Guy first.

See what I tell ya. We Gone Haywire.

Didn’t Colonel Bostic say that he did not approve any haywire party out of UK….am sure it was on a platform today….someone made up their own plans and are in the background like cockroaches or white shadows or whatever they call themselves these days, waiting to capitalize and spread Covid at the people’s expense..

  2. Re: Black Workers (Natty Exploited)

Blacks are tools to be used

    abused and thrown away

    as are everyone else too

    it’s the capitalist way

peoples work is worth more than their pay

if you worked with white boys and girls

you would know they are nothing special

the best and only way is to work for yourself

and pass it onto to family

    so they have an inheritance

    and opportunity

    and accumulative wealth

Once again BU top investigative reporter has delivered a video that is shocking.
I am surprise at how ordinary Bajans are producing videos of an extremely high quality and content. Without a script, they are telling the stories in a brutally honest manner. What others go to school yo learn, they appear to know by instinct.

Any comments that I make would detract from the original story and the investigational/presentation skills of the reporter.

    @ac “you go girl”

You seem to be a fan of or sucker for AC/Hal Conservative political spin and psyops on Social Media

beware and be aware that’s how they get their foothold and gain traction when in opposition

they prey on people who are fighting the system of injustice and pretend they are the solution when they are bigger part of the problem

that’s how insincere Republicans and Conservatives in USA and UK get swings and implement policies to shaft people when in power

for example Republicans are now complaining about rise in prices and how poor are struggling

you should be weary and wary of them

Meanwhile can she’ll out 350 million dollars to the tourism industry but can’t find money to finish the 2×4 stalls for the black business man to make a living

‘You seem to be a fan of or sucker for AC/Hal Conservative political spin and psyops on Social Media’

AC is the equivalent of a canary in the coal mine warning us of the bad air in the tunnel.

She is like John the Baptist crying in the wilderness of Judea “Repent, for trouble walks our island”

Whilst some stand at the shore and say “Come in, the water is safe”, she is the lifeguard standing at the shore and warning of the hidden dangers lurking beneath the surface.

After seeing the relentless and unwarranted attacks upon her, I had to give her my support. Let me add that though outnumbered 3, 4 or 5 to 1, she has distributed more than her share of bloody noses. What i like most about her is the grit, the guts, the stick-to -it ness and her reporting/investigative skills. She is scrappy, loves a good fight and is not a quitter.

Others who were more capable and better armed were chased away, but she has a big pair of balls and coninues the good fight.

But over 2million dollars spent and less than one hundred stalls the size of broom closet finished in two years is unacceptable
Sufficient and enough for the Auditor general to ask questions and raised the eyebrows of concerned citizens
    Uh get it now David

I was very disappointed by your post. I hurried there expecting to gather information and to learn something. What I found was a number of broken promises.

One would expect that by August 2020, any good builder would have a sound idea of what he could accomplish in two months. To project an October/November finish and to be on the job 8 months later is a disgrace. I will not comment on the appearance of the building, but 100 stalls for $2M is approximately $20,000 for a 2×3 stall.

I would not have provided this “sweet are the uses of adversity link

I want to know if everyone will sit by after two dangerous, wicked self-serving governments spent 2 generations and took an island filled with SURVIVORS and turned it into a DEN for RACISTS to live at the expense of people who had no clue what they ARE STILL dong…and don’t try to UNDO what these beasts and their racist handlers did to the people in a 97% BLACK COUNTRY…

what’s the point if we don’t work to take these demons down……..a PRIME example should be made of ALL OF THEM….the evil they promoted and installed in Black lives cannot go unpunished..and should be a worldwide template for others to follow when the poisonous cancer of racists and racism lands in any country to destroy it…

racists have gotten so brazen that they are OPENLY STEALING from employees who are stuck in that dirty tourism dependency trap….it can only get worse from here.

sit and take it and your grandchildren or great grands will be next when they next generation of racists and thieves put in an appearance with their savagery..

  22. So we have a govt being exposed daily by citizen journalist having the guts to openly expressed themselves via video
Showing the incompetence of a govt who neglects the black business persons of this country
These videos shows truths which are being hidden by main stream media
Media that rather listen to govt propaganda and feeds it to the public as truth
Two million dollars spent on a project designed to build stalls for the black business person and not one stall has been completed in two years
    What a dam shame

  23. David,

I would never have owned Sandy Lane in the first place.

The problem with you is that you are locked in a box.

Some of us are attempting to highlight the fundamental problems with existing business models, challenging with a view to stimulating thought among the people.

You are attempting to reason within the current system.

One is a long term while the other is short-term.

  24. Maybe you are locked as well. The reality is that you have a hotel which employs 700 people experiencing 10% occupancy because of the pandemic and in an effort to protect jobs the owners have had to be creative, the alternative is to retrench. Whether you would have purchased is irrelevant.

  25. “I want to know if everyone will sit by after two dangerous, wicked self-serving governments spent 2 generations and took an island filled with SURVIVORS and turned it into a DEN for RACISTS to live at the expense of people who had no clue what they ARE STILL dong…and don’t try to UNDO what these beasts and their racist handlers did to the people in a 97% BLACK COUNTRY…

what’s the point if we don’t work to take these demons down”

Lets do some number crunching analysis

    Raw Data
    287,375 people
The population of Barbados is predominantly black (92.4%) or mixed (3.1%). [1] 2.7% of the population is white and 1.3% South Asian. The remaining 0.4% of the population includes East Asians (0.1%) and Middle Easterners (0.1%).
    Black = 265,534.5
    Mixed = 8908.625
    White = 7759.125
    South Asian = 3735.875
    East Asian = 287.375
    Middle Easterners = 287.375

    Opinion
I would say that although legacy of slavery may still be internalised and manifesting in the culture
Barbados problems lies more with wealth distribution and wealth inequality and limited opportunity and low recompense for work as employees for business and government in private and public sectors and politicians being dictated to by money and business

Conclusion about the Isms and Scisms
Racism is probably possibly a red herring due to black majority
More socialism and less capitalism is required as solution
less class structure based on wealth and / or colour
    more integration

  26. @Kiki

For an outsider you have a good sense of the issues at play. We have had many discussions on this blog and elsewhere regarding the blurring of what some refer to as racism and those who by hook or crook are vested in protecting the establishment structures to sustain their wealth. This is not peculiar to Barbados. This is a struggle we witness daily in global societies. Enfranchising our people to ensure equity is the undergirding to any strategic approach we come up with.

  27. It does not matter how many blacks are in Barbados. As long as we have “two dangerous, wicked self-serving governments ” who seem determine to enrich some and perpetuate generational poverty our troubles will continue. B and D politics is a diversion; Maloney and company is real.

  28. Not at all locked, David. I am floating above what is.

But you remain firmly grounded by the chain with a lead ball attached.

You are unable to rise to the occasion.

The people of the world are in the process of pushing against all current models and ways of thinking.

You want to tap while we want to push.

Seems like you are happy with Amazon Man and his brother, Richard Branson and Elon Musk planning trips into space while many people who work for them cannot plan their next trip to the market.

  29. In short, dear David, we are trying to awaken our people to the plight that they will be in until they stop taking us vs them shitty jobs and join forces in business unions rather than useless TRADE.

This is not about changing Sandy Lane. This is about changing US.

  30. Have a great day Bajans. Have a great day Barbados. Remember

  31. Well Donna you can awaken Barbadians and at the same time appreciate a pragmatic position taken based on the current state of play. There is a place for a scorch earth approach and then there is not.

  32. The other point to consider is how do the two parties derive its power and influence.

“Enfranchising our people to ensure equity is the undergirding to any strategic approach we come up with.”

why do you ALWAYS miss the main points…

i will say it in PLAIN LANGUAGE

WE as AFRICAN DESCENDANTS ARE the SURVIVING INHERITORS of the CONTINENT and ALL its LAND, WEALTH and RESOURCES….why do you think it’s beyond important that we learn about ourselves to ACCESS WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY OURS..why do you think the continent is saying IN PLAIN LANGUAGE that they need us;……minus the BLACK FACE SELLOUTS…and inbred TRAITORS……

we DON’T need any STINKING RACISTS or the parliament nigas. racists, slavery tourism or any other colonial CONSTRUCT….TO CLAIM or take what IS RIGHTFULLY OURS…all the majority BLACK population need is their FREEDOM from the traitors in the parliament and their THIEVING MINORITY RACIST SIDEKICKS, hell bent on TRAPPING said descendants in a SLAVERY SYSTEM to enrich their dirty greedy selves…

why do you think all the miniature corrupt racists , thieves and parliament rats on the island are BESIDE THEMSELVES…they are seeing their meal tickets in the form of BLACK PEOPLE…growing wings and escaping the slave system that don’t even belong to these FRAUDS…

there is NO “enfranchising our people to ensure equity” in a COLONIAL SLAVE SYSTEM FILLED WITH THIEVES AND RACISTS…..so perish that thought..it will go nowhere.

  35. WURA-War-on-U Avatar

Take note that those in the parliament DON’T have the intellectual capacity to create a new system devoid of the slavery, oppression, disenfranchisement and racism elements, they can’t even eradicate the miseducation system and create a new curricula…they have had 3 years and delivered SQUAT…but are busily superimposing a republic on to a slave system…stop and think of the ramifications and the pure shit in Black lives that all of that will spawn.

they are unable to think in terms of anything that does not include BRIBERY and CORRUPTION..

WE as AFRICAN DESCENDANTS ARE the SURVIVING INHERITORS of the CONTINENT and ALL its LAND, WEALTH and RESOURCES…

and besides…yall need to START ACTING LIKE IT…..instead of focusing on a shithole Slave society (best term Prince Donald came up with) that is GOING NOWHERE.

..the island will always be here unless the sea reclaims it and that’s not likely to happen anytime soon…so FOCUS on your INHERITANCE and start acting LIKE INHERITORS of a vast continent….that’s what are TRYING TO STOP…by BLURRING THE LINES….

if you look closely you will see EXACTLY what the SUBHUMANS are plotting against you and your future generations to STOP you from claiming…

i act exactly AS MY BLOODLINES DEMAND….try it..

  40. and TIEFING severance, pensions and SALARIES….that’s what subhuman pestilence and PARASITES DO..to keep oppression and disenfranchisement alive and well….to line their thieving pockets…and DRIVE Black people into poverty…..that has been their MO for 54 years,

  41. “Wouldn’t COVID 19 have affected the completion of this Fairchild Street 3.8 Million Stall project?”

    @ David

Yes, COVID-19 played a part in extending completion of the project.

You know I’ve been commenting on this market situation on SEVERAL OCCASIONS, from the time vendors were relocated from the old Fairchild Street market to Golden Square, leaving approximately 10 legitimate vendors on that compound.

I’m sure you could also recall I raised the issue of ‘government’ building stalls near the Methodist Church’s wall, which were left uncompleted and subsequently dismantled, with the lumber, galvanise and electrical fittings stolen by people from the surrounding communities.

    https://barbadosunderground.net/2016/01/11/golden-square-market-tax-dollars-in-hole/

Another issue I also raised at that time, was non-nationals, mainly Guyanese and Jamaicans……. and some Barbadians, who either illegally built or operated stalls there were abandoned by the legitimate vendors on the environs of the old Fairchild Street market, where they sold food and alcoholic beverages, WITHOUT the appropriate health certificates, liquor licenses and bathroom facilities.

Barbadians and non-nationals also constructed stalls and ‘rented them out’ to non-nationals.

I don’t know if you remember, but I ‘said’ whenever ‘government’ commence construction of the new market facilities, those persons who operated illegally would be the first to demand market space ahead of the legitimate vendors.

Vendors from Golden Square and the LEGITIMATE vendors that remained on the old Fairchild Street compound, for example, such as Janice, Desmond and his wife Pat, the shoemaker, ‘Soupy,’ a Guyanese lady who converted her stall into a small wholesale outlet, the ‘bread woman’ and ‘canteen’ next to her, were to have PRIORITY when the new stalls are to be allocated.

At least three meetings were held with the vendors PRIOR to the demolition of Golden Square, Fire Service Headquarters and old NIS building, where they were given details of the stall sizes, which were to be built similar to those at Oistins Bay Gardens, some with ‘kitchen’ and some without.

So, vendors would have already been AWARE of the STALL SIZES. I’m surprised to know ‘stall size’ has now become a concern, especially against the background of that issue being discussed at the meetings.

Additionally, the illegal Guyanese, Jamaican and Barbadians vendors attended the meetings and demanded to be allocated stalls.

Also discussed at the meetings was how vendors were to be compensated for the inconvenience the construction process would’ve affected their income.

    Two questions you should ask,

(1): Are these people who are now complaining about ‘poor people’ and ‘stalls the size of shoe boxes’ entitled to any of the stalls?
(2): Are those people complaining entitled to compensation, especially if they were operating illegally?

  42. @Artax

The blogmaster recalls, you would know that BARVEN was involved in the design of the new stalls.
