By the end of the business day, Thursday 27 August 2020, political history of the world would have been written by one Donald Trump. This grifter would have achieved total and unquestioned controlled over the Republican National Convention (RNC) apparati and inserted his brand in such a way that there would be no recognizable differences between man, family and party. The former Republican Party would have become an integral part of the ‘family businesses.

The current coming-out ‘party’ convention has been so organized so that not a whisper of dissent could be given voice. Every ‘man jack’ chosen to speak was to be a reliable Trumpeter. Only Hitler was this exacting. Dissidents were either skillfully sidelined, assigned to the political wilderness in search of uncertain futures or made to join the growing numbers of ‘never-Trumpers’ in groups like the Lincoln Project, in exile as outside supporters of Joe Biden, a man who himself, is less than compos mentis.

As Trump plays for keeps, the clear intention is the deployment of the party organization for the maximization of personal and generational wealth. He and he alone must be the richest man in the world. This is Trump’s personal party! This is all happening, while the Democratic congressional leadership is running around talking about passing this bill, and that bill. But none of this matters to Trump. For Trump, they provide good cover for him to reshape the political structure, under their feet, and in his own image, his brand. The Republican leadership, on the other hand, has been mere lapdogs to this new ‘King’ of America!

We would be unsurprised should Trump emerge from this convention gaining the added bonus of reducing the margins between himself and Biden, a post-convention bounce. This is the normal bounce expected, which Biden failed to obtain from his own theatrical displays of last week.

At the end of the day we would fail to see, if Trump is as successful as we assess he will be, the circumstances under which the current political duopoly formations could resist the type of transformation similar to that as imposed on the Whig Party of the early 19th century. The real question here is whether the Republican Party, as we have known it, is now dead or not? Given demography, some may wonder how it could have existed for so long. History may find that this has been achieved through systemic electoral fraud. This is a history of fraud with which the Democratic Party (DNC) has willingly colluded to ensure that the status quo is maintained.

Trump must be well-pleased with himself for getting away with the incessant moral and legal challenges he has mounted to the system. For example, no president has thus far, been subjected to an impeachment conviction but continued to successfully seek the party’s banner in a coming election. But nobody even mentions this fact. Such is the gravamen of existential challenges to the duopoly as presented by Trumpism.

Maybe, he was right when he voiced his truism that the president’s power is ‘total’. Evidently, his most loyal supporters, the fascist-Christian-evangelicals; court systems well populated by Trump loyalists; that critical mass of Euro-Americans whose every sinew is racist; the silent corporate elites who support both duopoly factions; and a bevy of supine congressmen and senators are now well-prepared to set-sail any remaining notions about ‘democracy’, ‘liberty’, ‘freedom’ down the Potomac River. The Potomac two-step on full display!

Trump has instilled such a perverse party ‘discipline’ that a Martian visiting Earth and landing on this convention would not believe that there is currently a pandemic and that north of 200,000 Americans, based on excess deaths statistics, lay dead. Even as a coterie of buffoons feels confident enough to compel a populace to believe that what is real is indeed fiction and that fiction is reality. Oh, where is George Orwell when needed most!

Internationally, the Dictator-in-Chief has wielded his fascist powers with ruthless efficiency. We could list the countries. They include Bolivia, Venezuela, Guyana, Belarus, Palestine, Syria and more. In the case of Guyana he, with hidden hands, was able to deploy CARICOM and the OAS to overturn an election and install the PPP on the basis that one of his associates in Washington was a paid consultant to the Jagdeo gang. What is currently happening at the so-called Republican National Convention has more to do with the future of empire and the fortunes of the Caribbean than anything happening in this region currently.

Of course, we expect Trump will be the next president. This we see as highly possible regardless to who wins the most votes, who gains the larger number of delegates in the Electoral College or what the exit-polling may suggest. A Biden victory will merely delay the inevitable. The American fascist dictator has already laid the predicate in order to question any adverse result. Before that, we are guaranteed an enhanced panoply of uniquely American electoral fraudulent measures, maybe by both sides, measures already in play. Will CARICOM and the OAS interfere like they did in Guyana or Bolivia?

Even if by some miracle Biden were to win, it would be another significant hurdle to get Trump out of the White House, physically. Biden is wrongly persuaded that the military brass will expel Trump under these circumstances. Given recent events outside this very White House and the irrational refusal of all elements of the military to arrest Donald Trump and subject him to a military tribunal on treason charges, we are not inclined to concur with Biden.

Trump has never followed any tradition or lawful requirement. He breaks more laws before breakfast that the criminals in his dungeons, it has been said. Also, he is much too fearful of going to jail, like he must, if a sense of political decency is to be re-established in Washington DC. We are therefore left to loiter on the good graces of ordinary citizens in an unlikely quest of removing a political carbuncle from the body politic.

We have been reminded that the Constitution requires the Speaker of the House, Pelosi, to assume the interim-presidency should there be long-lasting election uncertainty going beyond January 20th, 2021, as Trump is threatening with blatant interference in the USPS. But even if it were to come to this, we would fail to see any circumstances where the incumbent, Donald J. Trump would recognize her (Pelosi’s) existence. He may even have her arrested should she venture anywhere near 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The fatal flaw is the American political culture requiring the presumptive loser to accept defeat will serve merely to ignite deeper social discord and further the aims of the fascists. This is an environment Trump lives for and is clearly willing to ignite a civil war if necessary.

The classical definition of fascism has been the conjoining of political and economic forces, an unholy alliance. However, what we see emerging here through the use of processes to further disempower the masses and enrich the few is a more virulent formation than understood by the traditional definition. Lewis and Long argued well that when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag. However, this writer is still left in wonderment that such a monster, from the cesspool of American fascism, would arise in our own lifetimes, at the centre of empire, even as we have always been acutely aware of the very nature of American political culture, which has always been fascistic at its core. We are left to wrestle with the internal contradictions.

  1. Seems that Trump has significant signs of dementia. Finding cognitive questions hard, ones that should be easy. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jul/21/donald-trump-cognitive-test-closer-look

  2. Heard it on the grapevine that yesterday’s police action was to do with a car in the port.

    Apparently nothing official as yet.

  3. @ Quaker John

You have had a good night’s sleep?

  4. dpD; John;

    Be very afraid!

Much of the information available at present appears to point to the following:

Donald Trump is a totally brainwashed Russian Asset
The next 6 weeks could change the world totally, not just America.
Total chaos in America is a distinct and strong possibility, whoever wins the coming Elections
DeJoy has already hamstrung the USPS and there is not enough time to correct his very strategic actions there.
The repercussions of yesterday’s news about how Trump views his Military might signal a very consequential change in its direction. Inward vs.Outward

If Trump wins; America will be completely changed in less than 2 years, even John’s world will be turned upside down. Black and Brown people will be seeking asylum around the World, in droves.

If Trump loses; almost everything he has said and done in the past 4 years indicates that he will not go calmly in the night but will fight to the bitter end to overturn that loss, using every tactic imaginable to retain power. He and his Allies and lackies will not abandon the trough easily and America will go through an almost unimaginable period of significant regressive conflict, mayhem and terror. The incoming Administration will have to be very strategic in its initial actions to be able to avert the likely effects of a Trump backlash.

The World might be careening towards an Armageddon-like singularity.

Excellent sleep chatter… Whether up early or late … more hours of sleep should be awesome at these senior years!

    But back to US politics…

Comments related to a new series on James Comey’s last few years as FBI director describes perfectly this current madness we endure… this upside down world!

Firstly, the series is described as sympathetic to Comey, but with BIG ‘wait an effing minute’ caveats… quite the comparison of how we all view the leading WH character …

Comey is “repeatedly slammed […] for arrogance, misjudgment, and failing to recognize how his decisions would be viewed—or weaponized—by a society in conflict.”

Quite the same comparative which can be said now of this admin.

There is complete irony in the further assertion that Comey was essentially acting as this “apolitical public servant trying to follow the rule of law—what is right?—and hang on to the integrity of the FBI”

He achieved NONE of that … according to first the Dems and then POTUS; the man who the Dems complain benefited from Comey’s terrible missteps and arrogance!

In this current political life there is NO ROOM for independent, apolitical public officials… as you must pass the loyalty test. The series director said, talk of a being apolitical is “like speaking gibberish.”

So here we are discontented in the stark acceptance that :

“The Russian effort succeed. The U.S. government is consumed by hyper-partisanship, at war with itself. That was the goal all along.”

Unbeliveably one can surmise that had the FBI announced its deep dive Russian investigation of the Trump campaign around the same timeline of the Clinton ’email negligence new review’ announcement that the US would defintely be in GREATER political strife now!

Incredible as that may be it’s reasonable based on where we are now … and where we will get too unless “apolitical” sanity and reason are restored!

Yes, @Lyall… yours is the absolutely trending and expected frightening outcomes.

One must be very scared of tantrums from a defeated Trump but I’ll hold on to the nugget of “The incoming Administration will have to be very strategic in its initial actions to be able to avert the likely effects of a Trump backlash.”

Simply stated if (when) he loses there will (MUST) be a purposeful partnership of all the Republicans who currently support Biden … simple steps like those done by Obama to appoint Republicans to his cabinet must surely be in the Biden play book.

The new admin must also appoint either a Special Prosecutor to review and investigate definable actions by this WH … in sum, a 9-11 style review to establish guide posts for new rules and regs to prevent future POTUS from being able to dismantle and politicize operations as this one did…

Any new admin must also broadly task ALL Inspector Generals to deep dive into the actions related to the terminations of their predecessors and Congress must set legislation to better control apparent politically motivated terminations for those posts.

So yes it must be strategically, professionally and legally reviewed with care.

Oh and BTW when out of the WH private citizen Trump will HAVE to respond to court subpoenas… and he NO LONGER will have executive privilege… couple that with the fact that any new POTUS has the same ability as he did to “declassify” key details and sprinkle on the current probes in his company financial shenanigans, his Cohen related ‘co-conspirator’ campaign violations and his tax matters and it’s clear this man will have many legal battles to keep him on the defensive.

Thus a Pres Biden CAN transition the nation to a semblance of order with careful steps to properly EXPOSE any and all of the former president’s comprehensive bad actions.

We shall see who are losers and suckers as citizens bravely go to war against autocracy.

Excellent sleep chatter… Whether up early or late … more hours of sleep should be awesome at these senior years!

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++

5- 7 hours is what I usually get.

    Many times less.

Last night I splurged, went back to sleep and got an extra 4 hours.

Once I fire up my CPAP machine even 4 or less is more than adequate.

The older you get the less sleep you need and if you understand what sleep you individually need you can get a lot of extra productive hours awake.

My advice is to ensure you don’t suffer from sleep apnea.

There are simple method most people can use to figure that out without spending thousands on sleep studies.

If you figure you do go to the doctor and get expert help.

    There are different kinds.

  12. Been using one of these for years now.

  13. Available on Amazon

    Choose one that can record.

  14. If you have sleep apnea, you can stop breathing because your airway becomes blocked.

Your brain watches your body and gives it a kick when it isn’t getting sufficient oxygen and CO2 levels rise.

It wakes you up and you start back breathing.

The situation is different to George Floyd who never stopped breathing but whose lungs were unable to take oxygen from the air..

    You actually do stop breathing.

No air, no oxygen to take.

Your heart can be damaged by being deprived of oxygenated blood.

Your body also becomes sleep deprived.

If you know someone who dozes off while driving, chances are they have sleep apnea.

    Oxygen, oxygen oxygen!!!!

  15. Trump gets very little sleep.

But remember, he is a stable genius so you should not compare yourself to him.

  16. John;

It never ceases to amaze me that you and a few other bajan posters always jump into the BU fray re. racist matters in the US, totally on the side of the racists.

Surely the matter re. George Floyd’s leaked co-morbidities is almost exactly analagous to the question of if Covid-19 deaths should be attributable to Covid or partitioned between its numerous co-morbidities. It appears that most sensible authorities and persons in the medical profession, once the Covid 19 virus and its well documented effects are demonstrably present, would sensibly attribute supernumerary deaths directly to Covid-19 and not to one or more of the co-morbidities. You should ignore Trump and his disingenuous attempt to decimate the number of reported Covid-19 deaths using that tenuous argument, but of course you can’t play dat.

Re. George Floyd, the videos and audios of the scene of the murder have clearly demonstrated that he died from the effects of that Policeman’s knee and the length of time it was forcibly and murderously placed on his neck. He would not have died at that time from Covid (from which he had recovered) or any of the other underlying cause if the murder weapon had not been placed on his neck for over 8 minutes,

The defence will try anything but they should’nt win.

  17. @ lyallsmall
The US Justice system is as corrupt as the Police and they both actually work together to exonerate Police Crime.
USA is a racist country but cunts like Trump are now saying that diversity awareness training is Un-American and white people cannot be racist. White trash are always working the angles to think of lies and false narratives, and John advertises it.
This is the reason why Blacks are protesting. The knee on the neck was a contributory factor to the death of George Floyd.
    John is a retard.

  18. See what I mean, some people on here are extremely fragile!!!

It’s better to get them aware of another way of thinking and of seeing things in preparation for the possible event where the opposite of what they believe comes to pass.

  19. Some seniors do nod off.

  20. @ lyallsmall
Harking back to your earlier point, maybe it is better for blacks and browns to leave Amerikkka and Europe, where they are not wanted. Racism is a hostile environment, Police protect whites stereotyping blacks as criminals. Blacks are treated as subhumans by neanderthals.

  23. The Editor in Chief of the Lancet is highly critical of Trump publicly setting expectation when a vaccine will become available.

  24. Finally!!!

I was wondering when someone would take him to task for the vaccine.

If the virus mutates as is claimed, how will a vaccine be developed?

But then again, as people get to know more about its effects the less they will discover they have to fear, vaccine or no vaccine!!

    Trump still wins!!

  25. de pedantic Dribbler Avatar

For your and everyone’s sake POTUS must not win!

Any Commander-in-chief who disparages his military personnel as this one does is NOT fit to lead.

We get it that lots of people are in love with his racist tone and white supremacy mantra and we get it that he has disparaged the military repeatedly in the past without electoral disapproval … but these latest revelations are quite disgusting.

Americans have always had this interesting love affair with their military: support and herald them as the best during combat with deep love when mourning at death but also aggressively lambaste them after the war…

Basically for every war since WWII it has been ‘I am glad YOU went and not ME… so thanks for your service’.

But can they re-elect a President who unquestionably displays THAT level of feigned support… who is boldly saying ‘when u are privileged you get deferrals to avoid fighting stupid wars… wars are for poor suckers’!

    I would be shocked.

  28. In the book, “Disloyal: A Memoir,” which was obtained by The Washington Post ahead of its Tuesday publication date, Cohen lays out an alarming portrait of the constellation of characters orbiting around Trump, likening the arrangement to the mafia and calling himself “one of Trump’s bad guys.” He describes the president, meanwhile, as “a cheat, a liar, a fraud, a bully, a racist, a predator, a con man.”

The memoir also describes episodes of Trump’s alleged racism and his “hatred and contempt” of his predecessor, Barack Obama, the nation’s only African American president

  29. From the article
    +++++++++++++++
Cohen describes Trump’s obsessive hatred of Obama, including claiming that the only reason the former president got into Columbia University and Harvard Law School was because of “f—ing affirmative action.” He also recounts Trump’s “low opinion of all black folks.” claiming that Trump once said while ranting about Obama, “Tell me one country run by a black person that isn’t a s—hole. They are all complete f—ing toilets.”

After South African President Nelson Mandela died in 2013, Trump said he did not think Mandela “was a real leader — not the kind he respected,” Cohen writes.

Instead, Cohen writes that Trump praised the country’s apartheid-era White rule, saying: “Mandela f—ed the whole country up. Now it’s a s—hole. F— Mandela. He was no leader.”

  30. The vaccine is becoming more and more irrelevant the more people understand COVID.

  31. Ghana with a population of 31 million people, has had 44, 777 COVID19 cases, 283 deaths, currently has 801 people in isolation, 5 of whom are in serious condition. Ghana has had 9 deaths per million people.

Barbados with a population of 287,000 people, has had 178 COVID19 cases, 7 deaths, currently has 17 people in isolation, none of whom are in serious condition. Barbados has had 24 deaths per million people.

In the COVID19 fight,, Ghana has done significantly better than Barbados.

I may need surgery before the end of the year. Looking forward to being looked after by some of the nurses from Ghana.

  35. It’s the height of hypocrisy for Trump to question someone’s academic ability when his sister said he paid someone to take his entrance exams at Wharton but he believes that white privilege provides him with cover to ask a black man to release his University transcripts while using his lawyer to threaten to sue Wharton if they released his.

@John, you wouldn’t “trust much of what he said” bcz “he was caught lying to Congress” but you absolutely trust a man who is caught lying EVERY day; was shown in several lies in the Mueller report and has in the past been found out as lying after giving legal depositions in civil suits!

I presume legal perjury is more resolute and definitive for you than out-of-court multiple lying!

What an amazing doozy of roaring 😂😂😂!

Carry on smartly… the day has just began and I desperately need to get laughter in my life right now!

    So, much thanks.

No need perhaps for a vaccine after all!!

  43. I thought Mueller was the old guy who was senile and did not know what he had written in his own report.

Might be confusing him with Joe Biden.

Nope, Biden is the guy who is running for president.
