Speaker of the House Michael Carrington MUST Go!

Good to hear the crescendo of calls for Speaker of the House Michael Carrington to step down. Leading the calls is outspoken and widely respected lawyer Andrew Pilgrim QC  a former President of the Barbados Bar Association (BBA). BU assumes he was not head of the BBA when the 78 year old wheel chair bound Griffiths  filed a complaint in the matter now occupying national attention. BU understands there is a concerted effort around town to raise monies demanded by the Court Order from ‘pals’ of Carrington, we have no doubt that he will be bailed out. The political class and buddy system always close ranks.

Whether he is able to honour the court order or not the Prime Minister, Cabinet colleagues and Government are left with no choice but to ask Carrington to step down as Speaker of the House. It is a moral imperative by a government led by a man who was promoted as Mr. Integrity himself.  Until Carrington steps down no utterance  by any member of the House can be allocated moral weight.

    For fourteen years he has been giving this man the run around.

    And to think that during this time he was part of the campaign slogan…………I will not lie, cheat or steal. I wonder what Mr Griffiths was saying when Carrington ran for office in 2008 and again in 2013?

    I do not condone wrong but just think that these dems went the length and breadth of this country and as afar off as the dead king did in Toronto telling all and sundry that the Bees were corrupt, they had money in Swiss accounts, they made deals at the Pegasus in Jamaica and that they would expose the Bees and bring every cent back to Barbados.

    Not condoning any wrong doing by anyone but to date NO evidence has ever been produced about the alleged corruption but what we do know is that we have heard and seen of money being confiscated, money hidden in parent’s account, money passing through law firms belonging to the chief purveyor of I will not lie, cheat or steal and now for all to see the current story.

    What transparency!

    As usual, Sleepy has put a cat among the pigeons by comparing this issue in which an unknown and unsung prior-to- 2008 lawyer has been hauled before the High Court of Barbados and ordered by the Sitting Judge to surrender and give an account for monies owed to a client of the said lawyer,with a newspaper proprietor being sued for libel and saying that the latter committed a criminal act and the former did not.Well who tell Sleepy say that.
    This lawyer is doomed.There is every possibility that his antecedents will go before him and nobody in their right mind will trust this fella especially given whats in the public domain especially the good people of St Michael West.If he is a man let him go on a ‘flatform’say he want to represent the good people of St Michael West.They will treat him worse than Brandford got treated when he was dethroned by a fella named Mascoll.St Michael West voters are notorious for turfing out failures especially those who do not pay their due debts.

    Well, I hope that more of these cases do come to light. Filing complaints with the Bar Assocation Disciplinary Committee seem to a joke. There are complaints being filed and others lawyers are bragging saying that these these complaints are a waste of time. It would seem that as time goes, more of these very crooked and unscrupulous lawyers will be exposed for what they are.

    When we have had enough of the political implications of this issue could we have a serious discussion and try to find out why it can take 14 years to probate a will.

    I would like to know if any of you rich or politically connected BU bloggers would wait 14 years for probate.

    Would any of you allow a lawyer to keep your money in a client account without a viable reason?

    Even if the money is raised to satisfy the court’s demand, Carrington should still step down.

    Is this the first time that this has happened?

    It took my lawyer a just a few months to sort out my father’s estate and that was only because some of my siblings were in different places!

    There good lawyers still, I have used the same one for over 30 years! He is methodical, keeps you informed and is prompt in concluding matters.

    Even if Mr.Griffiths lived on the space station it should not take 14 years for his aunt’s estate to be probated and his money made available to him.

    If the above statement has a modicum of truth to it, then, one can only conclude that Mr. Carrion QC (Questionable Character) did indeed misappropriated his client’s money using it for reasons other than the client’s business. His client never acceded to this act of financial impropriety.
    In that case he is not only dishonest and dishonourable but also a bloody bold-faced fraud that needs to be treated just like Rodney Wilkinson.

    Jim,@ you not see nothing at yet keep watching , Like Ralph Thorne Quick Crook made QC at the same time he was before the BAR, Keith Simmons backing the the Ex CJ David Simmons, He even leave the sitting while eating in the court room eating peanuts making joke. He went out side and when he return , all of a sudden some one maybe he himself called in a BOMB, No one moved , but the rest of the building was all out side , Seem like they know the tricks and they ask me to recheck my bag.

    They either remove Mr Wendell Haynes or he leave we dont know, But replace him with a she devil , who now wanted you to prove the case to her. before she took the case ,

    Where is the BAR? ,, all out drinking with more than 2 Million in their bank account , Speaker of the house needed to be on Bail for 300,000 easy , to cover his Bill and the mans lawyer,

    Perhaps they are strategizing their line of defense for Carrington and to blame someone else for his actions. They will post the usual meaningless, generalized statements, which, in actuality lacks subject and intellectual content and do not make sense. Legion will also refer to “truth” and has never been able to reveal what exactly is this truth.

    For sure, a reprisal from “Douglas” is long overdue, as he is expected to dig up some dirt on a BLP politician or related party.

    “So, Mr Stuart, what can you do to prove that it is you, and only you, the Leader of Government, Leader of the Democratic Labour Party and Prime Minister of Barbados?

    Mr Stuart stands there thinking, and thinking, and finally says,

    Why worse? That is election time. The only thing bad about it is that FRESH blood will not have much time to get their act together for a new party to run effectively.

    The thing good about it is that anyone looking to ‘get outside help with funds’ may not have time to go committing Barbados projects to those who would finance the election for them.

    Now if your statements are true there will be no difficulty naming names will there?

    Is it fair to say that Carrington’s case is now a “cause which lacks assistance”?

    These intellectually and politically backward, bankrupt and discredited DLP and BLP factions must be absolutely permanently removed by the broad masses and middle classes of people of Barbados from the Parliament of this country.

    There must be far greater national people centered political solutions to many of these recurring massive abhorrent revolting DLP and BLP problems than simply just calling for a reproachable disgusting Speaker of the House to resign.

    Miller makes a valid assumption.If we are to give credence to the story that pals on both sides of the aisle are trying to raise the money for Carrington,it says he does not have Griffith’s monies.If he does not have the money,Griffith is in the same position as the owner of the race horse….SHOW ME THE MONEY.

    If Tom Adams was leader of this opposition last Tuesday,the assault on Carrington would have been merciless.The question is why did the leader of the opposition forego this golden opportunity to speak on a matter of public importance in which a fellow attorney at law who happens to be the speaker,was ordered by a judge to surrender resources entrusted to his care by a client who retained this man.

    If true David, it could suggest that the BLP is either unable or unwilling to accept leadership of the country at this time and would rather keep the speaker in his current position so as not to force an election.

    Should this be the case, it would say a lot about where we are as a nation. Mind you, a new government led by EWB, JMGM Tom A, OSA, SIR GA, SIR BREE ST J, SIR HF and DR CM would not be able to rectify the damage caused by the current financial incompetents.

    …..while the ones without self control use these funds to enjoy the lifestyle associated with being a lawyer in Barbados (Big house, Benz, Holidays in Vagas) …and then make the gullible among their clients pay…

    The downright crooked lawyers actually hold on to client’s papers, falsify documents, make themselves beneficiaries, and outright fleece THEIR OWN clients.

    ….then they all protect each other ….BECAUSE IF ONE FALLS, ALL ARE THREATENED….

You have formed the impression that through his word John Hanson has committed the unspeakable sin. Now please focus on those whose deeds are no less sinful, like conspiring amongst themselves to rip off the poor, and facilitate the program that is driven to steer monies into the bank accounts of the WHITE MINORITY in Barbados. As a matter of fact they have done more damage to this country than anyone who has ever served a prison sentence, and qualify to be called even more vile names. I suspect that your beef is rooted more in the actual names mentioned than in the epithets.

    So what was BLP objective brought to table in Parliament led by Santia Bradshaw question was the objective achieved or even acknowledge by the Speaker?Absoluetly Not! Did Santia Bradshaw and party have the balls to proceed with a call for motion asking for the Speaker resignation? No
    After a week of hell raising and political rabble rousing by the BLP yardfowls the can is still being “well”kick down the street but still unable to prove Theft.
    Based on the statement by Griffith it appears that a family squabble is the backbone behind the Truth of this story
