Lionel Messi of the Argentine football team was – on Sunday last at the conclusion of the 2014 World Cup tournament – given the Golden Ball Award by FIFA.
Subsequent to his receiving it, there has been widespread disagreement and dismay from many millions of football fans over his very questionable selection as the recipient of it.
Now, the Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, Dr. Delisle Worrell, earlier today presented the review for the first six months of this year of the statistical performance of the Barbados political economy and services industry sectors, when contrasted with the statistical performance of the said sectors in the corresponding period last year.
Subsequent to this review there is sure to be massive disagreement and dismay by many Barbadians over many of the very questionable numbers and statistics related to the performances of various indicators contained in the 2014 half year report.
In both cases it is clear that some things have gone very fundamentally wrong with the techniques and actions of the persons responsible for selecting Messi, on one hand, and for selecting many of those relevant numbers and statistics as contained in the said report, on the other hand.
Indeed, these respective people have certainly not got the full picture in both cases.

barbados will survive this economic storm..with or without the naysayers and prophets of doom and gloom…..and the economic selfserving terrorist,,,,,,,of the ME brigade,,,,

Facts and figures dont add up! Lies, lies and more lies.

Central Bank Report text puts a POSITIVE SPIN on the performance, however the numbers show the declines continue. Spin is comparing 2009/12 numbers to 2014 last quarter, and show that last quarter(2014) is only SLIGHTLY better, HUMM not good. 2009/12 period was the worst of the worst and were now only SLIGHTLY better.
========================================================
Don’t you find it strange that some 3500 civil servants have been laid off and unemployment indicators are FLAT, Humm, Figures lye and Liars figure.
========================================================
Actually the FOREX has reduced by some $126.6M from the same period last year, even though a Credit Swiss loan of $225M has been used to supplement the FOREX during the 4th quarter of last year.

“THE CENTRAL BANK is now predicting growth for the Barbados economy from as early as year-end.
The forecast of 0.3 per cent from Central Bank Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell came this afternoon as he released the much awaited half year report on the island’s economic performance.
In it, he projected “slight growth” by the end of this year and a “pick up in subsequent years, to 1.2 per cent in 2015 and 2.5 per cent growth in 2016”. This came after earlier suggestions that there would be no economic growth here.”
Gezz, just checked PHD Worrell’s comments from the last several quarterly reports by the Central Bank and they all appear exactly the SAME, only the forecast dates keep moving further into the future. I guess in his case PHD stands for Piled Higher & Deeper.

Anybody heard the ‘confession’ by David Ellis yesterday in response to a challenge that the media has been unusually quiet about the cancellation of the Central Bank press conference post performance economic review? One would have thought his position should not have had to be provoked.

The latest G of CB report maybe the glimmer of light at the end of the longest tunnel. If so props to all who stayed the course and believed in their country to turn things around against nearly insurmountable and traitorous odds. The formation of the BRICS development bank mirrors Barbados hard journey from 2008 the wish is that the BRICS succeed giving emerging nations alternatives to the robber barons at IMF and World Bank.

Like days of our lives,
It can’t be real, they are bad actors, but “WE LOVE THE DAILY DRAMA”Anything man made can be manipulated, let someone Professional honest, do there job and expose the true facts in the media.
Initially, journalists must learn the art of cultivating good sources. By looking around carefully, such individuals can be found within the bureaucracy, and often the best sources are government officials who witness every step of corrupt acts. Some officials, in fact, may have even tried in vain to intervene, and once they are won over, these officials can aid in the struggle to bring the truth to light.
Yes who are these people, and where do they get the gifts from…. -
There is the news from the recent report the deficit has declined by 50 million, the question of the media was able to question the report is how does the Central Bank defend 83% government financing by them and the NIS.
-
David,
a stated 1 per cent increase in tourism spending and effectively a 100 per cent increase in land taxes (Municipal Sold Waste Tax) .Does the 1 per cent increase allow for inflation ? If not then surely we are going backwards.
-
@Adrian
1% increase in tourists spend is forex inflow.

PHD stands for Piled Higher & Deeper in SOLID WASTE!!!

Really, if you wish to be promoting your country, then the best thing to do would be to setup your own government information website. Positive promotion is the best way of going about it. It would also help if you create a forum on the website so people can ask questions, as people will likely need help finding answers to things like is it safe to invest here, is it truly a third world county, selling itself as 5*. Why are there beggers, plus why are so many things run down, infact why is it so expensive and the services getting so poor.
LOOKS STRONGLY LIKE THE DOLLAR IS GOING TO BE DEVALUED.
So our children will suffer, and always be trapped.
-
Both former and current BEC presidents have condemned the Governor’s projection for growth next year as BS.
-
Governor of the central bank is flip-flopping, he knows he is just deceiving the people, as usual, nothing new.
-
David the Govenor is making predictions that are tempered to decrease the level of fear about the economy.
Shouting fire would not be good for the country.
Somebody has to be optimistic.
-
The growth is from the money borrowed…! …and the so called “Solid Waste Tax” the IMF has imposed on the people…!

Anyone see the picture of the Guv at Ilaro Court recently where he was enjoying the music with his wife? Tell that picture does not seem like an advertisement for an institution for the criminally insane?

I realize that CBC carried the excerpts from David Commissiong’s planned rally against the government even giving the time and place where it will be held.
Kudos to CBC for at least allowing differing views in this environment.CONTRAST- The Nation BLP Newspaper.
After flooding the paper on a daily basis with those who ALL express the same political views- Harry Russell, Tennyson Joseph, Clyde Mascoll, Ezra Alleyne, Glyne Murray, Albert Branford and Mottley supporter Peter Wickham the Nation newspaper chose from the hundreds of thousands of people in Barbados to publish the article of well known BLP branch member Malcolm Gibbs – Taitt.
Now Malcolm is not a bad fellow but we all know that he is political operative first and a consumer Advocate second.The Nation newspaper is now so obviously partisan that there appears to be no difference between the spin doctors at Roebuck Street and those in Fontabelle. -
The Nation BLP newspaper claims that it is not political but the BLP spokesman Clyde Mascoll is given a page every week .
Fair and Balanced? You decide.
-
everybody knows the Nation is the smut rag that carries the torch and the bidding of the BLP ,,only the BLP yardfowls and paling cocks would disagree,,,, but it really doesn;t matter cause as hard as the nation tried ,to persuade and misdirect the populace in the last election..they failed abysmally in their conquest ,,leaving them with egg on their face the night of the election,,and ac laughing out lol..at their stupidly,,,won;t be surprise if come 2018 it would be deja vue all ova again… dumb a.sses. ..

@Hants
“Shouting fire would not be good for the country.”
It may not be good for the countries politicians but its surely GOOD for the Country’s citizens.
Someone has to SHOUT FIRE if you expect someone to come and extinguish the FIRE, the big question WHO’s the FIRE PERSON ?
-
Yes @ac, I agree with you – come 2018 and any of these sad, sorry misfits returning to Parliament would certainly indicate that the people are displaying their stupidity once again and would deserve you LOL.
-
fear play….. don’t bother ……..cause we are not on the same page,,,,,,fool……go read the nation……that is a place where stupids like you find comfort,,,,,

BU is a place where people of all abilities express their opinion in a constructive manner. It’s not a place for cowardly attacks on others without a foundation of truth…!
-
What has BU puzzled is the fact two leading economists, one current Barbados Economic Society president and one former, have basically called the Governor a liar as far as his anticipation of growth in the economy is concerned. To be fair, the Governor has an army of researchers and historical data to draw on to inform projections and modelling, which is what economics is all about.

………………………………………………………………………………………………….
What’s your problem with the largest circulated newspaper in the island. It is simple, no one interested in reading about promises of improvement to the economy, yet the final outcome shows depreciation and constant downgrade. You mean yo have your political organ in The Advocate, CBC DLPTV, GIS and ac, dompey and yourself carrying the flag on BU Wuh more publicity wanna want. -
I thought the growth forecast was based on the news of expanded airlift and the expected impact on tourist arrivals given that spend is now back to pre crisis levels. to me if economists are going to question forecasts then attack the assumptions that you are questioning.
-
David
While i would wish to accept your contention that the Governor has available to him an army of researchers etc,if recent history is any guide this particular species of Governor likes to micromanage information.This is a man who does his own research and has shown a propensity to so show this set of hoes in a good light that he would go to any length to justify his forecasts,even to the point of gathering his own unemployment statistics and disregarding the law of the land in arriving at his own conclusions.A most uncivil servant.A political hack.A liar squared!The proof of the pudding is in the eating.There is no confidence in this government.Look at the stalled projects at Black Rock(2)at Prospect,at Paynes Bay,at Vauxhall all awaiting those in whose policies there is greater acceptance by keynote investors. -
Lies, lies and more lies. Distortion of the truth and more lies. The only growth this gov will get in 2014 is the amount of lies they will be telling. Watching these men destroy barbados is hard to endure. They just don’t care
-
@Gabriel
In which case a member (s) of the research team need to blow the whistle because it compromises their integrity as professions, there is also the team of public servants at the ministry of finance.
-
David,
With respect to your 2.40 am, July 17, 2014 comment above, why do you think we have been – on here and elsewhere – encouraging many members of the public of Barbados, to do what ever it is within their power to ensure that there is a Commission of Inquiry into the many of the operations at the Central Bank of Barbados?
Why do you think we have been promulgating our policy of a National Currency Board to supercede the Central Bank of Barbados?
PDC
-
One reason is because of certain provable allegations by some very reliable persons of RIGGED research data and information and other things having been taking place at the Central Bank of Barbados.

One Million Dollars Walked out the Bank , How many other times has this happen , Was that the smaller of other amounts,? Who did it, Was the money recovered ? Was anyone charged?
Bank robbery and land robbery, History robbery and Soul and Mind robbery . What is the Police doing or did ? what are the FINDINGS. .. If ANY ONE even” LOOK”,IF NOT Well, Well, Must be in the “Bush”-tea -
I seem to recall a very senior public servant in the ministry of finance taking early retirement not very many years ago.Apparently the proverbial straw was that the individual was not consulted on the final Estimates.
I note too that both Jeremy Stephens,Ryan Straughan and the CEO?of Republic Bank do not agree with the gov’s forecast on growth of this economy. -
@Gabriel
The head of Republic Bank has gone public not to look for growth until next year, AND, this is if all the ducks line up.
-
With a population of over 180,000 people it seems that only over 180 people really fully understand the politics in Barbados…! Therefore transparency and openness will remain but a fleeting illusion…! The reality is, both the DLP & BLP benefit if blindfolds remain on the people!
-
nonsense as usual.
since this all started here – i Kent Taylor put out a invitation to all to come and get me in Vancouver island. all the cowards involved.all your talk and things said to and about me -i formally invite all of you to come and visit me .you bunch of pussies,leff barbados and come here.i will give you my address ,just ask me for it.cowards and stupid ones.then we will see what is what.i dare you!https://plus.google.com/101805639599316774004/posts/AXe1LAEf5jK
