Plase gasification is coming to Barbados!
Plase gasification is coming to Barbados!

Within the last seven days a tiny noticed was published in the press that Cahill Energy will convened a ‘Town Hall meeting’ to informed members of the public salient points about the USD300 million waste-to-energy plasma gasification plant. BU has been reliably informed the Town Hall meeting was successfully held and although scheduled to end at 8PM finished about 9PM. The illegal meeting was also mentioned by Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler in a radio program last Sunday.

The Town Planning Act requires that a 28 day notice period be given of such a meeting.

  1. After promising Barbadians that a website customized for Barbados would go live last Monday, we are about to reach Friday and no website.

  2. David what is your problem. Cahill is adjusting to the speed at which Barbados operates so Monday can be next Monday 3 weeks from now or…lol..

  3. This is it David. http://www.cahill-energy.com

  4. Thanks!

See “The Barbados Solution” at http://www.cahill-energy.com/why-barbados/barbados-converting-waste-to-energy/

    Very detailed customization.

  6. Oh yes

    One more thing

The website has no address or telephone number; just the email form in the Contact Us tab.

Wonder what Cahill has to hide in not disclosing an address.

  7. Due Diligence

Cahill is fictitious, its not a real company. This will end will the Treasury 20 or 30 or 40 M the poorer.

I think we are all agreed on both points. Regrettably the Treasury = Taxpayer and you can bet we will be saddled with an increased Municipal Tax or some other tax.

Wonder if Cahill will do another “Open House” before the TCDPO mandated Town Hall meeting for the EIA? Now that will be very interesting when it comes.

  9. Just Googled and checked in to http://www.cahill-energy.com to se if any names, or numbers, or address, or contact into have been added in the last three weeks.

    No change – just fluff.

    Anybody see anything of substance?

  10. Apparently BU family members are not the only ones expressing concern about the Cahill Energy project.

An article in today’s Barbados Today “Concern about waste-to-energy project” quotes Clyde Griffith of Barbados Renewable Energy Association having many of the same concerns expressed here.

DD hopes that now that the mainstream media has reported the BREA’s concerns that we will hear something from Government and Cahill

  11. Cahill will end in the GOB paying out a lot of ‘fees’. Its all about ‘fees”.

  12. RS

Indeed all about fees – and no WTE plant will be built.

All the hot air coming out of Cahill and Government – which has not had anything to say lately – is the only gasification that will ever come of it.

    You got that right!
That’s what these pie-in-the-sky projects are all about. Fess and kickbacks.
Remember the Pierhead Marina? Now that’s one project that has been gutted of fees and now thrown overboard like jetsam.

But realistically speaking, how many of these alternative electricity generating projects can Barbados really accommodate? There is that big move to solar and wind. Then there is the sugar cane factory of Andrews that will be generating so much electricity to make the whole of Barbados look like Las Vegas.
Now there is the WTE promoted as the salvation of Barbados electricity needs to save forex.
What is going to happen to the Emera-owned plant down Spring Garden or its proposed replacement?

  14. Is the cahill website gone? I can’t find it!!!!!
