Why Continue to Pay DEMS When the IMF Running the Country Anyhow?

A few days ago, I wrote an article in which I stated that ‘if the IMF’s Report was made available to Barbadians before Minister Estwick’s presentation to Cabinet, then this already ‘irrelevant DLP’ would become ‘obsolete’. But even before the Cabinet met, the IMF sent a strong message that it will not be entertaining any further proposal from this DLP Government. Talk about brush-off! The message was crystal clear: talk all you like but the IMF will not hear you! What could be ’eminent’ about any Cabinet that is slapped-down like that?

My fellow Barbadians, you gave the DLP this country to manage for five years (whatever reason you may have had) but within the first year, the DLP has caused tremendous pain and suffering and on-top of that – it has virtually sub-let Barbados to the IMF. Clearly, that is not what you had in mind! You need to take-back your country from the DLP and put in the hand of people who are disciplined; know what to do to get Barbados out of this DLP-mess, people who are not allergic to the “truth” and who you know you can trust.

In contrast, obviously condemned by the IMF Report, ‘a weak; desperate; dangerous and exposed DLP Government’ – now tells the country: “blame us” essentially passing ‘a justified vote of no confidence in itself’ but only to soften-up and distract Barbadians! Not good enough! How could telling Barbadians, six (6) years late, what Mia Mottley and the BLP were warning them about all along, ever be considered: ‘breaking news?’

Furthermore, why should Barbadian taxpayers continue to pay an incompetent DLP, when the country is being run by the IMF, anyhow? In any event, it is too late to apologise and nothing less than the full resignation of the entire Government, will do!

“Blame Us?” Not so easy! The time for blame has long passed! It is now ‘time to fix the problem’ so that this Government (which has lost its way) does not continue to cause Barbadians grief. It is no secret that the real problem, which grips Barbados – is the DLP. The nightmare occurred because the DLP ignored sound well-reasoned advice and proceeded with a “fatted calf doctrine” and its “oppressive political entitlement Programmes,” intended to funnel state funds to dems, as part of its fatted calf doctrine.

But the DLP now tells the country, “blame us” when it really ought to be charged for “criminal negligence,”especially given the unnecessary human suffering it is causing and the fact that it also arrogantly ignored sound advice, which has resulted in social; economic and political instability and is causing Barbadians unnecessary harm. But if there was no DLP, there would be no problem to fix and no savage layoffs.

Imagine, this DLP ignored sound; well-reasoned advice; told the country “stop bellyaching” and that is does not listen to its critics, essentially – that it does not want to hear anybody, except a “pal” or those who have large amounts of foreign currency to put at its disposal – to obviously – be reckless with.

When compounded by its natural ability to dangerously mismanaged – the same economy it said was not important – this DLP is causing unprecedented stress, fear and unnecessary human suffering but has the nerve to tell people crap about: “blame us,” ‘ONLY’ because it is now clear that Minister’s pensions, are at risk!

Nobody will get ‘carried away’ by this ‘last minute confession,’ which is nothing more than: “desperation for relevance” from an ‘intolerable, reckless bunch,’ who are embarrassed by the IMF Report and are now determined to trick Barbadians, one more time, in a ploy to keep State power they cannot justify having but feel is theirs to keep.

The DLP was always a bad accident that was just waiting for somewhere and the opportunity to happen! It is these same “eminent” jokers and local political comedians and humbugs, who told the country that the economy is not important, the society is, and much later – that the economy “stable” and yet, the IMF is proving how utterly stupid and reckless, both statements, are! I do not know that the IMF manages societies, except to occasionally recommend putting the appropriate safety net in place.

Up to a few days before the IMF released its recent report on Barbados, the Prime Minister was heard making the ‘wild allegation’ and echoing the DLP’s trademark excuse, that Barbados’s economic woes can be tied to some Global Financial Crisis! While he was causing disquiet with that ‘dingy DLP propaganda,’ one of his Cabinet colleagues was admitting that the DLP’s policies are flawed; that the country is on the wrong path and that thousands are being savagely fired, ‘without just cause.’

That must have come as ‘shocking embarrassment’ to those who voted for the DLP. This country is supposed to be on some ‘pathway to progress’ and not ‘the highway to poverty and economic ruin,’ the DLP put it on in 2008, when it triggered this perilous crisis. Democracy may be a very dangerous thing but, since this DLP-crisis was foreseeable, it was preventable.

Nobody needed the DLP’s permission to know that this Government does not know what it is doing and that “the DLP is bad for Barbados!” Secondly, there is nothing that makes sense, that this-failed-DLP-Government can add to a modern Barbados, especially in this demanding environment. The IMF now presents irrefutable evidence that proves that ‘the DLP simply cannot cope’ and that they made a challenging situation, a horrible catastrophe!

In this regard, the sound; well-reasoned advice to Barbadians, is to urgently reeled-in this incompetent-DLP-Government, before it does anymore further damage to Barbados and causes even more Barbadians, unnecessary pain. In any event, ‘why validate an unjustified cost overrun by continuing to pay an irrelevant; incompetent DLP – when the country is being run by the IMF, anyhow?’Barbadians: Take back your country!

Thanks to the recent IMF Report – even ‘doubting-Barbadians’ now have independent; irrefutable evidence of the costly and tragic mistakes made by this incompetent DLP Government, as well as proof that everything the DLP told this country – is a horrible lie.

The fist cardinal and sinful blunder by the DLP was to increase the price of diesel by 77% (within its first 100-days in office) and then introduced that inflationary budget in July 2008, which robbed Barbadians out of over $108m. And what has been the collective result of that and other flawed DLP policies – one of its Cabinet Ministers told you about? Here is the IMF’s answer: “The economy shrank 0.7 percent last year and has contracted an average of 0.6 percent per year since 2008.”

It is simply an excuse and ‘a horrible-trademark-DLP-lie,’ for it to give the impression that only the DLP has had to deal with the global financial crisis. The truth is, the global financial crisis started in 2007 when the BLP was the Government and it finished in 2010 or should I say, in most countries around the world, except Barbados. The point is: nobody was fired from the Public Service, when the BLP was the Government and if the BLP was still the Government, nobody would have lost their job, either. In fact, everybody working before 2008, would have been appointed under the Public Service Act, hence – there would have been absolutely nobody to fire.

As regards the DLP’s silly excuse that the global economy is to blame for Barbados’ economic woes, here is the truth from the IMF again: “Barbados has not succeeded in recovering for the adverse consequences of the global financial crisis, and faces considerable challenges…”

In fact, thirty-five countries within Latin America and the Caribbean were able to cope. Not the DLP!The DLP caused our economy to “shrink” and to be downgraded to “Junk,” as well as, unprecedented human suffering.

But, I am confused! How does the Central Bank Governor go from telling the head of the IMF that the IMF gives “bad advice” to countries like Barbados and that the IMF’s model is “simply wrong” – to now saying that the DLP’s policies are in line with what the IMF is recommending?

  1. You are talking about not paying them because they are not running the country. I wouldn’t be so soft on them: they should be tried and jailed for their conduct.

  2. Frank Alleyne is advising the government along with the outpatient Worrell and clueless Sinckler.

Is there a need to say more?

    • Agree with you Bushie, one just has to listen to Donville’s defense of minister’s salaries in the prevailing. A member of parliament’s (under the Westminster system) first job is to serve the people not himself.

  3. Frank Alleyne was one of the group of DLP mindless people back in 1976 ,
The two main factors that lead us to this horrible state are dishonesty and greed
Dishonesty in the way David Thompson was allowed to get back to head the DLP and received stolen money from clico to pay the happy, but greedily people to vote for a group of mindless part time employed
or unemployable people, their won the government , David ‘s dishonesty and his lifestyle carried him to Hell , as is,the rest of the group of dishonest ministers are a
living hell to themselves and the people
See how confused and reckless their are while the people are suffering.
May God help us from this horrible DLP party Government and party faithful members, but remember God help those who help themselves, wakeup and shapeup people don’t be sleeping like the PM , we must take back this Country from these horrible mindless DLP party

The thing that makes me madder about this whole circus that is the DLP is that BLP clowns like yourself also contributed to the sickness that is now the dying economy of Barbados. Everyone knows that the DLP is a circus act but the BLP are a crooked lot who also exploited this country out of millions. Both parties and all their lackeys should be made to feel the inside of a good prison for what you all have been doing. The DLP has sunk our island but the sinking started long before they took over the reigns. So be balance in your criticism but then again you can’t. You are waiting your turn to feed from the free money trough again ain’t you. I hope the people ask for the creation of another party, Its time to done away with these two thieving, pompous is ass parties.

  5. “You are waiting your turn to feed from the free money trough again ain’t you.”
He might die first because the way things are here with Government’s financial problems, the cash box going be empty for a long time.

  6. PLANTATION DEEDS FROM 1926TO 2014 MASSIVE FRAUD LANDTAX BILLS AND NO DEEDS, BARBADOS DLP/BLP MASSIVE PONZI FRAUD on said:

DLP are well known crooks and the BLP are the same hands of the same nasty body. To Many liars , LAWYERS looking for ways to take what they want looking for every gray line in law and was to dodge the jail cell as the rob the Nation, Both Partied MUST GO ,
Next time you VOTE , VOTE 3rd Party and we all with know what the hell they were doing with Proof .

  7. Another unbalanced comment from the normally stable balance.

Sunny Sunshine is right, every one of our current lot of politicians are in it for themselves…..who ain’t looking to get rich quick, looking for status, power, women, or some such personal shiite….

This is the ONLY reason that they sacrifice so much…., spend so much…., beg so much……, and allow themselves to be pissed on so much, in the pursuit of this goal.

….and balance should know that the poverty of the society has no bearing on the ability of politicians to achieve their personal goals.. ..indeed they do even better in poor societies. Wuh you just have to look around – oil rich Nigeria has some of the worse poverty, and look at South Africa…..no progress since apartheid….except for the multi-millionaire politicians (shiite then!….even Mandela was almost as rich as David Thompson)….while the poor widows sucking salt….

A true politician would NEVER run for political office in our system ….he would have to be ASKED to do so because of what he has to CONTRIBUTE.
…why the hell would a talented, successful, high value person go around begging brass bowls to vote for him in order to give them the benefit of his leadership skills?

When a man could decide to “go into politics” because he is not very successful at his day job or because he can’t even FIND an ordinary job, then it is obvious that the whole system is a sick joke….

Leaders of countries should be head-hunted. They should have a sound history of effectiveness and success in leadership. Special teams of wise heads should be set up to search, filter, double check and recheck before selecting and appointing such persons to high political office… But that kind of logic is beyond brass….

    …see BU’s Ten Point Plan for Governance…

  8. The Bushman…..some people have been looking into Mandela’s accounts and found the money he earned was through world wide speech, it pays handsomely, something like $500,000 or more, ask Bill and Hilary Clinton, per speech, so his was earned honestly….where the hell did Thompson get those millions, certainly not through world wide speaking…..something is not right there.

  9. The recent IMF Report is really a “Charge Sheet,” containing “serious incriminating; irrefutable and credible evidence” (and nothing that anybody fabricated to smear anybody):

“The economy shrank 0.7 percent last year and has contracted an average of 0.6 percent per year since 2008.”

“Barbados has not succeeded in recovering for the adverse consequences of the global financial crisis, and faces considerable challenges…”

and, when taken with further credible evidence – will show that this ‘weak-incompetent-DLP-Government’ – blatantly ignored sound;’ well-reasoned advice (even going as far as publicly stating that it does not hear its critics and is not getting carried away whether 1000; 2000 or 3000 are being set home) and when compounded by its “oppressive fatted calf doctrine” and “political entitlement programme” – the DLP has made Barbados “weak” and “vulnerable” and ‘an easy target for social; economic and political instability’ (resulting in unnecessary pain and human suffering, which was foreseeable and avoidable) and that is the background, which proves beyond doubt – why this DLP Government cannot be a victim, but should – instead – be charged and convicted for ‘serious criminal negligence’ and being: ‘a public nuisance;’ a ‘political humbug’ and “an unnecessary” as well as – an “unjustifiable” ‘cost overrun’ to the taxpayers; the Treasury and people of Barbados.

  10. The Constitution of Barbados must be revised.Too much ignorance and stupidity is the order of the day.The electorate deserves better from Parliament, the Judiciary, the Executive and the Fourth Estate.Barbados is damned by ignorance in toto.

It is very clear that the Constitution of Barbados must be revised to bring about a better system of governance for all.The role of Parliament, the Judiciary and the Executive in the provision of ‘goods and services’ to its

customers the electorate is under serious threat and appears to be a

laughing matter.More than one joker is in this pack of cards called the present 3 tier system of government in Barbados. The DLP is making a mockery of governing and we must make sure a future government does
    not do similarly.

    laughing

  11. I always knew that political affiliations can become poisonous, this is a very clear indication of how detrimental putting political parties and affiliations before country can totally destroy a country, I hope the other Caribbean leaders are watching and learning, since Barbados is one of the most stable in the region, yet, when you have politicians and political yardfowls and those who benefit from such relationships focused solely on their tiny universe of self-serving greed, this is the outcome.

  12. Downgrading Barbados And Destroying Errol Barrow’s Party And Legacy

It was not long ago when they were being told: “ever so welcomed wait for a call.” But many across the globe will also remember when Barbados had giants like Tom Adams, Owen Arthur and Errol Barrow, as Prime Ministers and while this region is now being caused to be the laughing stock of the world – patriotic Barbadians accept their sympathy but moreso – appreciate ‘the unjustified courtesy,’ being extended by the rest of the Caribbean.

Take the fact, for example, that the current Prime Minister of Barbados has lead responsibility for a CSME (that hardly anybody hears about these days) and yet in Barbados – he functions as if: ‘allergic to hard work and responsibility’ – detached from the major players in the economy (even in a crisis) and “TOO SCARED” to assumed the responsibility of Minister of Finance of Barbados – opting instead to do as much work as David Thompson did, when he was dying.

The Office of Prime Minister of Barbados has now become “LAZY;” “unproductive” and ‘merely ceremonial.’ Little wonder that “Barbados is sinking and its economy shrinking,” with him as Prime Minister (even being downgraded to “junk”) – unlike all other economies within the region, which are doing way better than Barbados and faced with the same global conditions – he and the DLP often use as an excuse to downplay their weak; disappointing performance.

Given all of this DLP-turmoil, it ought to have been recognised that ‘the CSME was Barbados’ oyster’ and (perhaps) even more beneficial to this country than any other within the region: accounting (at one time) for 52% of our exports and one-in-every-five-tourists, who come here.

The irony is, the Prime Minister of Barbados – is expected to give leadership and direction to 15 separate economies within the CSME and yet, Barbados’ current Prime Minister seems incapable of even giving sound; sensible or any direction to the DLP, furthermore – the Barbados economy, which was downgraded to “JUNK” (right under his nose) despite him having such awesome power, that he even engaged a ‘huge unproductive Cabinet,’ many of whom he “defiantly eased-in through the back-door,” even after they were rejected at the Polls, in the February 2013 General Election, by the people of Barbados.

It may not be in the interest of the other Member-States, to urgently reshuffle the Quasi-CSME-Cabinet: if their respective country’s interest is being met and they are benefiting from existing agreements; protocols and arrangements (LIAT, RSS, OIL) – even while having a weak Barbados Prime Minister, as the ‘CSME head’ (and if my thesis is correct) then – both by choice and circumstance!

  14. What does the blog think of Minister Darcy’Quisling’Boyce wasting taxpayers money and time addressing 3 and 4 yr olds yesterday. Its the type of performance that suggests he has nothing to do and should be fired!

    the ‘Brekking News’

Don’t be so unkind to the minister: he is operating at his level. I am sure some of those kids were able to stump him.

      >

  15. @ Gabriel
I wondered the same thing, why was he at a nursery school? Was this a wise use of a minister’s time? Maybe telecommunications is part of his portfolio. They could sent Patrick Todd or the schools’ visiting minister, Harry Husbands.

See what I said about cutting all of these non elected people occupying offices in Bay Street? They have very little to do daily! This is a prime example.

  16. @ Prodigal Son | February 18, 2014 at 6:13 PM |

His presence at the school would have appeared more relevant if the school had installed a photovoltaic system as part of the country’s stated policy to increase Renewable Energy in order to save forex.
Was this the case or was he just finding something to do with his useless ministerial time to justify his pay packet?

Everyone except Fumble can see the quisling quack who started the economic and fiscal destabilization of Bim has nothing to do but twiddle his thumbs all day hoping that Estwick remains in a stupefied state of ‘non compos mentis’.
What has become of the government’s offshore drilling programme with the $10 million signing on bonus as promised by the MoF since June 2012?

We trust none of the smart kids didn’t ask him when the rebel Estwick would be crossing the floor the same way the PM was asked by a school boy about the date of elections.
According to “Fractured BLP” the little child would have been in breach of the Public order Act and the Quisling Boyce in breach of the Official Secrets Act.

What a bunch of monkeys running Bananados? Nothing to do with their time but make sport at tax payers’ expense. Thing is these jokers from the Senate are not bringing any rare or specialized knowledge to the Cabinet; neither are they representing any particular constituency, elected or otherwise.

  18. @ Colonel Buggy
Wunna laughing….but Freundel is essentially right about the “black cat in a dark room” thing.
No one has the answers to the situation where our global Ponzi scheme is approaching the state of collapse – much like happened to Stanford….. NO ONE!
..LOL the difference with Freudy is that no one seems to have told him that Leaders are NOT supposed to say those things….

Shiite man! If he was a pilot, – instead of announcing that “everything is in hand, and we have the plane under control” ……he would probably announce “the rudder ain’t working. The throttle ain’t working and the engines ain’t working…… None of wunna can’t do any better – so sit down and hush wunna mouths… I ain’t want no advice from no eminent persons here…

  19. I see some folks of a certain political dispensation like to refer to D B as a “quisling”, he is certainly no “Foundation fool’ he went to the local Eton and I understand he was what back in the day one would call “bright”. I am here neither to bury nor to praise the Minister but as far as I know he didn’t swear an oath of fealty to King Arthur, Queen Mia or the BLP he is a Bajan exercising his constitutional right to work for the Gov’t of the day.

As for the sobriquet applied to him he has followed the path which was first blazed by none other than the illustrious EW Barrow when he left the Party led by GH Adams and latterly by other small fry like Hammi La, Mascoll and other nonentities too numerous to mention who were glad to be among the included.

  21. @Miller
Then perhaps he is deserving of another title, but how can one raise one’s salary in a Gov’t or quasi Gov’t institution. Aren’t there any check and balances? In my salad days I had a stint as a Temporary Clerical Officer and the PS had to sign off on every nut and bolt- still remember the letters coming from people with simple requests ending with the valediction “Your obedient Servant”.
