At this epoch of Mankind’s evo­lu­tion, where democ­racy and respect for human rights are being immor­tal­ized as indis­pen­si­ble virtues which every soci­ety must pos­sess and are uni­ver­sal yard­sticks by which the actions of gov­ern­ments are mea­sured, it is almost incon­ceiv­able that there are still those who con­tinue to reject the idea of repa­ra­tions for descen­dants of African slaves. Recently, a book on the sub­ject by Pro­fes­sor Sir Hilary McD. Beck­les, pro-​vice chan­cel­lor at the UWI Cave Hill cam­pus a lead­ing activist and eco­nomic his­to­rian was pub­lished. Enti­tled Britain Black Debt: Repa­ra­tions for Caribbean Slav­ery and Native Geno­cide, it sets out a com­pelling case for Repa­ra­tions from Britain which can­not be coun­ter­acted by any of the sophisms and spe­cious rea­sons posited by cyn­i­cal detractors.

    Preparatory work on case for reparations advancing – Professor Beckles

    Although legal action has not yet been taken by CARICOM states seeking reparations from Britain for slavery, preparatory work is advancing. The confirmation comes from Professor Hilary Beckles, chair of the Reparations Commission for CARICOM. Professor Beckles explained that CARICOM heads of Government have formed the Commission which has the responsibility to ensure that each member state establishes a national commission. He confirmed that an overseas law firm has been engaged to provide guidance on the research and evidence necessary if legal action is to be taken.
    “We are really hoping to move forward quite rapidly in the next couple of weeks. We hope sometime next month to meet with a legal firm out of that has expertise in this form of litigation,” said Professor Beckles.
    He said they are using the same firm that led the Mau Mau reparations case against the British government.
    “We are hoping to meet with them next month to look at the legal path and to garner the historical evidence that will support a legal action.” Professor Beckles was speaking on RJR’s Beyond The Headlines on Wednesday.

    Moneybrain……………you have to do some serious research to find out the real percentage of caucASIANS on the earth, they are consistently lying about it, and now claim that caucASIAN is a race, has nothing to do with other ethnicities calling themselves white to hear them tell it, have to first figure out who they consider caucASIAN and whom they consider rejects, that is another debate, but suffice it to say there are alot less than they would have people believe, say they are 400,000,000, they are saying 800,000,000 to 900,000,000 and we both know there is something drastically wrong with those figures, and to further expose their lies, they are definitely NOT 51% of the population on earth of 7 Billion people……….a lot of lies have to be waded through to find the truth and real percentage of caucasians on earth.

    To get a proper handle on the research, you have to understand that CAUCASIANS are people out of ASIA and not just people who lack melanin like the European ethnic groups, these have been lumped in to be called Caucasians because they too resided in the Caucus mountains, after you have waded through the bullshit you realize that the European ‘white’ is a very very small percentage of the earth’s population and they are ethnic.

Asians do not lose the fold in their eyes from birth, and originate from Eastern Asia. First off, the Asians. Asian origin countries are not every country in Asia, in fact, most of Asian countries are of Caucasian decent. The only true Asian part of Asia is the Far East. By taking the population of all the Asian origin countries and Native American population (because they too are of Asian decent, migrating from Eastern Asia) You will get 2,088,685,120, the approximate population of Asians in the world. Secondly, lets look at the countries of Caucasian origin, the continent of Europe, The Americas, Australia, and South Africa. With all populations of those countries combined we get 3,242,156,710, the approximate population of Caucasians in the world. Lastly, the Africans. The continent of Africa and Caribbean Islands,not including Cuba and Puerto Rico. The combined populations total to 893,780,330. If you combine the total Asian caucasian and African population, you will get the population of Earth. Let’s round each population to the nearest 100,000,000. So Asians account for 2,100,000,000 humans, Caucasian account for 3,200,000,000 humans, and Africans account for 900,000,000 humans. So the total population of Earth is approximately 6,300,000,000. Asians account for 1/3 of the Earth, or about 34%. Caucasians account for about 1/2 of the Earth, about 51%. Africans therefore account for 15% of the Earth. (the above information is true, on account of which race each ethnic group belongs to. countries are counted in terms of population for race by majority ethnic group. if you do not believe in this information do some research and you will see this is true.)***—***the original response here needs to be referenced. The Asian population of the planet exceeds 5 billion and as there are only 7 billion people on the planet, it would be impossible for the Caucasian population to be anywhere close to 50%. The more likely scenario is that with Whites and Hispanics combined, the ‘Caucasian’ population is closer to 23%.

    Money……………you have to admit you don’t know how many NUKES China has so you can’t say with absolute certainty that European whites have nearly all, and besides South America will not join North America or Europe, they have already formed BRIC………i believe Brazil was the last to break away from G20….

    I certainly dont anticipate any War between China and the West as neither side would win (MidEast/ Iran is the Wildcard). China needs and wants customers and holds on to hope they will get their money someday. There is a low probability that China will ever be able to receive more than Half the Purchasing Power of the money owed by the USA. China probably does not have too many Nukes BUT they have been spending heavily on Military hardware. Only an idiot would attack the Chinese as the population size they have is certain of eventual victory unless the attacker destroys the entire Earth.

    Moneybrain…………..you are forgetting China has a pipeline to resources in Africa, unlike the West, they did not put all their eggs in one basket………..i doubt the West can hurt them, trillion dollar debt paid or not, Africa’s wealth is unlimited and will always be unlimited……..strategic mistake on the part of the West, they lied for too long, were arrogant for too long, have been racist against African people and descendants of Africans for too long, we can now sit back and watch it bite their backsides for a very long time.

    It is amazing to me that not one of the so called “Legal Eagles” on BU were able to figure out how to use precedent set by the decision of the American Appeals court.

    “The court did, however, reject the district court’s ruling that barred the plaintiffs from making consumer protection claims that they unknowingly purchased goods and services from defendant companies that concealed their involvement with slavery. The Chicago Tribune has more.”

    All that is necessary to collect some dough if that is all that is required,is to make a consumer protection claim against a company that was “alive” and profited from slavery and has chosen to conceal its past involvement in getting consumers to purchase its goods and services today.

    Certainly the BU “Legal Eagles” should have been able to spot the fact that for example, Lloyds of London might just fall into this category …… perhaps they are feverishly researching it all like now!!

    I seem to recall an incident the abolitionists used all those centuries ago when a ship’s captain dumped his cargo over the side to collect insurance!!

    …… man, these Eagles/sparrows are bare jokers!!
