When they balls up the magistrates court (and if they play their cards right…especially is there are supporting assets,) they get promoted to balls up the high court or the registry.

Everyone is waiting for someone else to do something because no one wants to risk their behind. It is call CYA.

Why has the case has been adjourned until Dec 13? There is either a case to answer or there is not. Where is the attorney general? It does not take a remand of about three weeks to realise the weakness of the prosecution case.
The attorney general has the authority to take over the case and withdraw the charges.
On the other hand, the defendant’s attorney can put a no case to answer petition to the magistrate and she can either agree, or order a trial.
At present the defendant has an apparent case of wrongful arrest, false charges, infringement of human rights and, depending, reputational damage.
It is but further evidence that the nonsense that our legal and legislative systems are based on the Westminster/Whitehall, common law systems are rather thin.

The legal and justice system in Barbados has now become the laughing stock of the Western democratic World. Imagine a country that foolishly boasts ad nauseam of having the best educational system in the world can come to such a sorry laughable state.
But as they say free things are normally of poor quality and soon become valueless.

There is now nowhere that Barbados can have set aside the charges laid in the Shanique Myrie case and at the same time giving stronger credence to the myriad of allegations of human rights abuse at the hands of the Bajan authorities. Neither can Barbados salvage its recent acquired reputation as a jingoistic anti-foreigner place to shun and avoid doing business with.

As things stand right now this country is on a collision course with a social and economic destroying asteroid with the name Barbados written all over it. Only a drastic change in the administration of the country’s affair can nudge us away from imminent impact.

3. Who is paying for his defence lawyer? One report says the two women, another a third woman – a past rape victim…and when rape is a legally aided offence.

4. And what has Mr C’s attorney been doing for the past 18 months or so?

5. What led the police to pick up Mr C in the first place? Someone has written that he says he was out of the island when the rapes occurred. Well if he was, that’s the end of it – and it should be a simple matter to determine whether he was..
