Prime Minister Fruendel Stuart

The eagerly awaited Peter Wickham Cadres poll has been leaked to the media. Based on the report Prime Minister Fruendel Stuart appears to be viewed as less likely to lead the DLP to victory. It is bad enough the DLP government has had to combat managing the economy in an austere environment, to float a damaging pollย  at this time is perhaps the final nail in the coffin. One did not need a poll to assess that Prime Minister Stuart does not have the national profile or support at this time. Who can forget Minister David Estwick wearing a red short on the morning of the tragic event.

It is sad that a BLP government which was voted out of office less than five years ago will probably be returned without having to revamp or promise any radical policies to Barbadians. At this stage BU is somewhat nonplus about what the political landscape is likely to be. What is sure is that it will be more of the same. Prime Minister Stuart the best advice BU can give you is to ring the bell. The country cannot afford yet another political cat fight.

A people will get the government it deserves.

    I adore you when you speak on inconsistencies and deviations like the one you have alluded to above, even if you don a cap with XXX underneath without backing back.

    I admire your tenacity and backbone not to be intimidated by ‘the power’ or be side tracked by their ‘trinkets’ and other ‘bright shiny things.’ I honestly hope that no one is paying you to pipe a specific tune or agenda. Like Nigel Farage of the EU parliament who lambasts the EU bigboys for their scathing tactics in the establishment of the Euro-zone you are indeed the Nigel Farage that Barbados needs to expose the ”dogs and their ‘buried bones.’ So Caswell press on and fight the good fight and ignore the shites like the pretty face boy who at times can be so intelligent and another time I blatant c…t in the making

  3. Pretty face boy … I hope she talkin’ ’bout me … You see Sunshine Sunny Shine, a name like that suggests that you are a woman, to refer to me as a “blatant cโ€ฆt in the making” is in fact a bit of an irony. Here it is that I, being one who is attracted to women at all levels is told that being a “blatant cโ€ฆt in the making” is suppose to be an insult coming from one who is already a possessor of a “blatant cโ€ฆt”. Seems to me that you and Franklyn are not just opposed to homosexuals, but you do not think very much about women (and their privates) as well …

    But Cornwell, whether it’s a side show or not, why promote that non-Christian garbage at a Christmas party? Maybe Paul DOES believe that she IS a genuine diviner and CAN give him an accurate reading of his future political fortunes, in which case, he is more of a political “Cornwell” than I thought.

    I agree with UWI lecturer Mr. Joseph …… looks like they are hitting the PANIC BUTTON. Did not their dead, risen and beatified “king” (who is still running the government from his tomb) advise them not to PANIC? Soon they will all be gathering in the dead of night at crossroads all across the island to have their bush-baths etc. etc. administered, as they all become frantic and desperate, NOT about the security and well-being of our beloved country, but about their vision of disappearing, juicy pensions!

  5. Here we go again! Avatar

    There’s really no need for all this analysis. Freundel Stuart is not wanted. The perception is that he’s a weak leader and the majority want him to go.
    Just step down! What’s the big issue here?
    It’s a parliamentary system!

  6. Now it looks likely that the plot to remove Stuart as PM will fail without opposition support, Sinckler is on CBC news saying that he knows nothing of the plot and that he has no comment to make on it LMFAO… Same Sinckler that was behind the plot to remove Mascoll and subbmitted the letter to the Speaker instead of the GG. Didnt somebody say before that this incompetent DLP bunch didnt listen to advice? If i was Stuart, i would make all of wunna dissidents pay. That gang of 11 expose them hand without a backup plan

    “Caswell, Since you are now on the blog, did you read Tony Bestโ€™s article yesterday where our CJ claimed that he has dual citizenship of Barbados and the US. How can he be a citizen of the US and be CJ of Barbados? Do you know?

    Prodigal, that caught my attention as well. It had me wondering. Would one of our legal luminaries on this blog give us some clarification? This don’t sound right to me. I also couldn’t help noticing the former? $160,000.00 a year ‘kingmaker’, political strategist , Hartley Henry in the photo chatting energetically with the CJ. What is Hartley really doing these days?

    By the way Prodigal, I really regret mentioning the name of our excelent and beloved Govenor General in the same breath with the disgraceful and unconscionable behaviour of this bunch of wild boys we collectively call our government, but I too heard of those visits to the GG, and how he summarily rejected their disdainful approaches to his Office.

    Can you imagine Chris Sinckler suggesting to the people that he knows of no plan to oust PM Stuart when Stuart and Kellman have most definitely left the inference that such a plan exists. Do not worry, Bajans aint stupid.
    In fact, I have come to the concrete conclusion that Carson C Cadogan is none other than Sinckler himself. Even if I am wrong, I shall err on the side of caution.

  9. To Here We Go Again:
    First, get a shorter name. You must admit that the fellas are trying to unfair Fruendel and we the people can not allow that. If what Prodigal says is true that they have already gone to the GG and was turned down, then this behavior is most outrageous.

    You need to throw out a challenge to anyone to submit a picture or anything else. I am telling you that a meeting took place last night after Stuart indicated to them that he had no intentions of meeting with them as a group to deal with the agenda set by the group of 11. I can tell you that there are members of his cabinet that strongly supports him and a couple that support him but are less vociferous. Chris Sinckler is now doing what he does best; attempting to save his own neck despite his very paltry performance as Minister of Finance. Once it is drama on the hig seas wherein mutiny lies in wait of the captain, Chris is close by. Ask Sandi, DT, and even from China or the grave you will hear the answer. Even this, Hartley and others could not get right. I hope the PM exercises his power and fire the ring leaders. The Dems cannot do any worse if some persons that I have already mentioned serve out their time on the backbench.

  11. @George

    Sinckler, as far as I know, is not gay but he is quite happy to be Minister of Finance plotting with some who refuse to leave the gay abandon that speaks to party paramountcy; he is quite gay along with other happy thumb-pricks in favouring the ridding of the political leader than the politics in favour of advancing Barbados’ national interests.

  13. Hi Caswell, I just saw your comments, posted before I requested some clarification from one of our Legal Luminaries! Despite your remarks, the issue, to me, is still cloudy although you seem these days to consider yourself a “legal luminary.”(lol lol)

  14. George C. Brathwaite Avatar
    George C. Brathwaite

    Someone now told me it is not a plot; it is blueprint for political suicide. I guess Kellman is right then. It also means that Chris would not have been part of a plot since none existed; he merely made a calculation or miscalculation based on the blueprint presented by the two regional political and self-acclaimed giants at making and unmaking Prime Ministers..

  15. Am I hearing correctly that Sinckler disavows any knowledge about involvement in a plot to depose Mr Stuart as Prime Minister? Well ! well ! well ! Sinckler is not only a coward, HE IS A LIAR. I SAW ONE OF YOUR TEXT MESSAGES SETTING OUT YOUR SCHEME SINCKLER and what is more , MR STUART SAW IT TOO…..You may therefore work out what Stuart can think about you . You are no longer a SNAKE IN THE GRASS, you are A SNAKE THAT HAS BEEN LEFT EXPOSED AND EXPECTED TO HAVE ITS VENEMOUS HEAD CHOPPED OFF. I wonder what your two cohorts Wickham and Hartley Henry now think of you? Or is it that you found yourself like the proverbial boy on the burning deck when all around had fled? I DO NOT ENVY YOU SINCKLER. But in addition you must know that I HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR YOU. There is no place for treachery among men of honour.

  16. The latest reports from members on the inside are that Sinckler sought out John Boyce last evening so as to have his (Boyce) applied to the letter and hand delivered to the PM. John Boyce, under serious pressure from other senior members of the Cabinet, bailed leaving Sinckler looking stupid and desperate and with not other choice but to approach Ronald Jones. Ronald Jones is reported to have refused to entertain the discussion and told the MOF that if your guys stupid enough to sign such a letter then you must be foolish enough to deliver yourselves.

  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casabianca_(poem)

    Cassius

    You better read the poem about the boy standing on the burning deck again but this time with a little historical background from wikipedia in the link above.

    It paints a completely different picture to the one you seem to be wanting to portray!!

    The boy stood on the burning deck
    Whence all but he had fled;
    The flame that lit the battle’s wreck
    Shone round him o’er the dead.

    and the poem goes on;

    Yet beautiful and bright he stood,
    As born to rule the storm;
    A creature of heroic blood,
    A proud, though childlike form.

  18. @ John.
    Thank you dear fellow ! it shows that there are still some among us who read these things. The reference was merely meant to highlight that all had run and left Sinckler to face the music. IT IS NOW LEFT UP TO HIM TO BATHE HIMSELF IN GLORY by demonstrating how noble a man he is to face what in fact is imminent disaster WITHOUT HELP…Once again, thank you John.

  19. Alternatively, another interpretation is that the Barbados Economy like L’Orient on August 1st/2nd 1798 is about to explode in a ball of flame and there isn’t much any politician can do about it.

    The stage was set for L’Orient by a complete lack of strategic thought.

    L’Orient like all the other french men of war had transferred ashore cannon on their land side to fight battles on land and had anchored themselves like sitting ducks in a seemingly unassailable defensive position not expecting the British to find a way to attack their defenceless side.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Nile

    This is the naval battle that changed world history, Trafalgar was the icing.

  20. Nations News

    Yesterday Minister John Boyce who was selected to liaise between the Stuart and the disgruntled members had no comment on the matter.
    Meantime, political observers are expecting Fridayโ€™s House of Assembly session to shed some light on the developments. Last week the House was adjourned until mid-January but asked to meet again Friday to deal with a tax bill.

    @ David

    What is the tax bill that Parliament is going to debate this friday as a special sitting of the House and is that bill capable of being turned into a motion of no confidence against the the PM and or the DLP?

    While a member of a governing party is free to vote their conscience, they are constrained by the fact that voting against the party line (especially in confidence votes) might lead to expulsion from their party. Such an expulsion would lead to loss of election funding and the former party backing an alternate candidate. While the government likes to keep control in these circumstances, in unwritten practice, the only time the government can fall is if a money bill (financial or budget) is defeated. However, if a government finds that it can not pass any legislation it is common (but not required) that a vote of confidence should be held. The exception is if the prime minister or the government declared that they consider a given bill to be a matter of confidence (hence how backbenchers are often held to strict party voting).

  21. Caswell said “As far as I know, there is nothing to prevent a person who is a citizen of another country from becoming chief justice of Barbados. However, again, as far as I know, the Chief Justice could not swear allegiance to Her Majesty the Queen and remain a citizen of the US.”

    Caswell, so how was he swore in? Was the oath changed to suit him as was the Constitution changed to accommodate him? Who swore him in? Certainly, the past GG as the Queen’s representative here would not have changed the oath to suit him!!!

    Dear FS
    In your New Year’s Message to the Nation please announce some major changes to your cabinet if the house is to look worthy of consideration for renewal of the lease for another term. Move 2 of the broken “mugs” to the back of the house out of harm’s way to be jeered at by the gang of 5 opposite. Secondly, rearrange 3 other chipped plates to hide their ugly but dangerous edges.
    If you don’t do this you will look rather weak and politically washed up in the eyes of those who has an interest in seeing you succeed.

    @Prodigal Son
    I understand you quite well; however, as far as the laws of Barbados go, double citizenship does not exclude one from holding critical positions as is the case in other CARICOM member states such as Dominica, Antigua, and Jamaica where it is expected that one would renounce one of them. We are deemed to be living in an age of post-national citizenship especially against the background of so many transnational relationships. Indeed one can say that in this respect Barbados is progressive. The problem then, and based on your arguments, would lie not with the CJ and Barbados, but with another jurisdiction. Nonetheless, I also believe that you are indeed incorrect in terms of the USA wherein one can have dual citizenship whilst holding some key positions (barring the USA presidency of course).

  24. I read in the Official Gazette that the CJ was granted leave from Dec 1-6. How comes he just start to work in September and was entitled to leave so quickly? Just to go to New York to hobnob with the likes of Hartley Henry? Is he going to be a political CJ as the CBB Governor is a political Governor?

    By the way George, it was worked on this blog while you were away that CCC seems to be Reudon Eversley.

  25. @Prodigal Son

    It is not unusual for a person to negotiate leave when taking up a new job especially when it involves relocating to another country.

  26. David,

  29. What a bunch of screw ups. Sinkler now denying ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE LETTER. He ain’ got the cajones to stand by his move. Who could trust him, not Bajans, not colleagues, but wuh bout the financiers of the Sapphire event? They left high and dry.

  30. Some good ole bajan sayings dedicated to Sinckler and Hartley Henry (who was advisor to the dearly departed UWP King administration in St. Lucia – hence the urgency in “advice” to the DLP gang who couldnt shoot straight) – yuh could hide and buy land, but yuh cant hide and wuck it….the things yuh do at night, one day will come to light….ONE DAY COMING SOON

    People can speculate all they want. It is not the moderator confirming or denying anything.

    Quite frankly, I sometimes wonder if CCC is not multiple persons; for example, a group of persons on a specific agenda rather than an individual. I note with curiosity the meandering levels of language and arguments and while the agenda is consistently on the behalf of the DLP, the arguments are much more fluctuating as if the individual or individuals doubt themselves.
    Anyway, the blogs gives expression to one writing in their names or assuming other identities and I respect that.

    One suspects that the job of MoF& E A is too big for the “every body hates chris” competence. One cannot bullshit in that job for too long before the sh*t hit the fan. I think he is looking for a way out. Get the top post, qualify for a big pm pension and give back the government to the able BLP to run the economic affairs of state.

  33. I thought that Mr Persaud was asking for 50 million dollars. Now I read that it will be 60 million, who increased the dollars? If this was the BLP you would hear the likes of CCC saying the BLP corrupt. By the way, is this in Barbados currency or US? Just asking?

  34. Another factor that BarbadosToday reported that no one on the blog is considering is the expressed concern by members of the DLP parliamentary group about financing for the next election not being secured as yet whereas in 2006 they had already secured financing for the 2008 election. Is Sinckler favored by potential financiers? Does this mean in the absence of the CLICO Money Train to Paris, they have to execute this overthrow of Stuart to secure their campaign finances? The Sapphire meeting now looks very suspect…and the plot to remove Stuart as PM appears to be real and true as confirmed by Kellman and Stuart himself.

  35. A party in power usually does not struggle for campaign funding, that is a pretty basic rule of politics, so that dog won’t hunt when trying to justify the actions of these rogues.

    There more probable reason is that the campaign financiers (the st.peter boys) won’t finance with FS as the PM given that he is not capable of being bought outright. The DLP should tell those funders to piss off, the word on the street anyway is that they have returned to OSA and the BLP with offers of big, big money.

    Hogwash in the yesterday’s Nation newspaper, a newspaper well known for false reporting from its inception. All one has to do is send a tip to the Nation no matter how ridiculous and they will run with it, no facts checking because the truth might get in the way.

    The conclusion one can draw from this thread is the fact that a tremendous amount of money is being wasted on education here in Barbados. My dog in my backyard has more sense than almost all who are writing on this thread and he didn’t go to Harrison’s Collage or UWI. It just boggles my mind that people who call themselves educated could be writing such foolishness in this day and age. I think there is also a man here on this thread who says he is pursing a PHD. Assuming that you meant me; and assuming that you meant a PhD I can assure you that I am not to be underestimated. While you may pull cotton wool over the eyes of some, you will not so easily deceive me into thinking there was no attempt to persuade FS to move aside. As I have said, time is longer than twine and we shall see. I am sure that you know that I have many of the details (first hand at that). The stupid parliamentarians that tried to commit political suicide met last night after being refused an audience with FS unless they were willing to meet individually to discuss what issues they had. FS is an attorney and he knows full well that he holds the cards and not the dissidents. FS is also the intellectual type and I am sure that after seeing the stupidity of his team, he knows that Barbados cannot be led by any of them and hence Plato’s philosopher king will hold the seat of power until he decides differently. CCC what has got you up a creek is that FS outfoxed another Foundation School boy not of the same vintage and another who for some reason was well-received by the predecessor but holds no berth with the incumbent. CCC retreat from me now, for your ways are not mine and your wishes are not those of the electorate of Barbados.
