Clyde Mascoll – will he force his way into the Arthur's 30?

Having taken issue with the foregone article “Not Accurate Mr. Clarke” I beg the indulgence of the promoters of this site in an attempt to tell it as I think it is. While it is neither here nor there when it raised its ugly head, we are quite sure that disrepute found its way into the hive long before Mr. Clarke submitted for print his offering. He was warned about the journalistic imprudence of launching an attack on the leadership of the labour party.

As the writer chose to reference history in his piece so will I. Can it be that given the record as it stands Mr. Clarke stands to suffer the same fate as one Reudon Eversley who was tormented beyond belief for daring to take a similar stand? Is there anyone in Barbados that is willing to openly challenge the following? The present leader of the labour party was the most oppressive Prime Minister Barbados has ever known in relation to journalists and the practise of news  dissemination in our country. History tells that sordid tale.

Lets look at his invocation of Karl Marx’s pronouncement as it relates to Neville Clarke. Not only is such grounded in subjectivity but selective reasoning like a sore thumb sticks out at us. If objectivity is key to the base of journalism, can the writer say Branford? How about Price? So true is the old adage that spit in the air falls in our faces. Lets call a spade just that.

The labour party continues to dabble in turmoil all because its leader has to find a way to build a home for the one he appointed as Co Leader. Rather than act as a leader in a democratic country, he acted as “The Imperial Ruler” and his brainchild of destruction he called politics of inclusion now haunts the hive.

Rather than chastise Neville Clarke for his opinion you loyal supporters may better serve your party and its cause by lending a helping hand to the Master Tactician as he seeks to reintroduce Barbados’s version of Mitt Romney, the Flip Flop Master Mr. Clyde Mascoll. A successful attempt could only be described as nothing but a GEM. Right there is where the problem started and till the chosen few accept such to be true  -hell shall continue to haunt the hive.

@Hamilton Hill aka I know exactly who you are

After the first reading I was prompted to heed Caswell’s advice and stay clear of the matter. However, I find it difficult to accept that clever persons such as yourself would write, be critical, and offer not a modicum of soundness to advance the debate.
Well my good sir, I have not in any way attempted to silence my friend Neville. Moreover, and with a discerning eye, I recognised that the individual writing in the name of Neville may actually be him or he may have been tainted with the blood of the fatted calf. You mention poor Reudon, is it because he was a mediocre choice, or that he was willing to bring his own profession into disrepute? I do not have the answer, but other journalists may have something to say about that. In the same vein, is that why CBC has been undermining the good conscience and integrity of Barbadians who ‘foot’ the bill despite there is a clear disconnect with what CBC does and what is expected under the constitution of Barbados? I wonder where have all our freedoms gone? Maybe Reudon himself can fill us in or do we go back to Parris for disclosure?
Only a neophyte would believe that “objectivity is the key to the base of journalism.” You speak of objectivity as though it is something tangible and coherent even against the background of socialisation. People write, talk, and act against their agendas; some may be principled enough to maintain some form of balance, but the bias is ever present if we search deep enough.
I am not intimidated by the DLP, its supporters who from what I last heard, are a declining breed. If you doubt me, tell Freundel to call the election after he has guaranteed his continual support. Truth is neither can be done at this time; if so, he would have called them soon after replacing the man he washed in cuss at the 2006 DLP annual convention. Do you want me to say more?
Mr. Hill, with all due respect, it is best that you do not rattle the cage of George! You are likely to receive much more than you have bargained for. The thing is, I know just who you are, and right now you are sitting more on the outside than on the inside; you simply have been unable to elevate your man.

  3. Poor George, how could you accuse Hammie Hill of not advancing the debate only to end your reply with those two bottom-mostparagraphs? I hope tuh God that you are back in Bim on a short visit and not running from the economic misery in Europe. chupse! In order for bajans to fear or respect you they will first have to get wind on your comments; such is difficult with your Long handed – long winded approach to saying and intending so little. chupse again!

There is no feeling as wonderful as being home; Barbados and with the BLP. May be a long winded approach, but very accurate.

    You disappoint me!!!!

I credit you with more common sense than your post at” George C. Brathwaite | November 20, 2011 at 9:18 PM”.
You are beginning to sound like Owen”seethru”Arthur. Is your position so weak that you can not defend it other than with veiled threats?

Now that you know who he is, what are you going to do? Burn down his house, make him loose his job. have someone attack his wife or children?

This is typical corrupt Barbados Labour Party dirty strategy. I am sure that you remember that “seethru ” threaten to use the Task Force to bomb certain of his detractors.

ALL OF YOU BLP MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS SEEM TO DRINK FROM THE SAME SEWER!!!!!

GCB, this is not CCC, is it? With initials like HH it must be Henry the kingmaker who has been sidelined by FS but has made a political faux pas in advising CS on how to undermine the leader. FS should heed the advice given by Shakespeare as he would warn us against political devils like HH in that classic play by Julius Caesar:
“Let me have men about me that are fat,
Sleek-headed men and such as sleep a-nights.
Yond Cassius (HH) has a lean and hungry look,
He thinks too much; such men are dangerous.”

The pen is mightier than the sword; and truth prevails. These are the only two weapons that I am willing to rely upon in political matters. This is Barbados not Jamaica (no disrespect to Jamaicans but just speaking on the evidence) or elsewhere.

  8. @ George
ha ha ha the wordiness of your pen makes it as effective as a dull/rusted sword in need of a thin sharp edge.

  9. @ George Brathwaite…….Sometime ago I was told that you were slated to join the fight(no pun intended)as a candidate for your party. To rattle your cage is neither my task nor intention at this time.Declaration of your intent may change mine. As they say a house divided amongst its self cannot stand. That too goes for a hive.Mine however is built on a foundation of truth,re-enforced with pillars of fact that no amount of threats veiled or unveiled, may shake. True to form it seems, the party is taking the shape of its leader. Oh what a shame.

  10. George may have the last laugh given that our rating has just been revised from stable to negative.

  11. @ Millertheanunnaki…….From the posts of both you and The Scout I take it that you were both around longer than I have. Can you or The Scout tell us when did the C B C not adopt the complexion of the party in power? Desperately I crave an answer….Respectfully Yours,Hartley Henry.

That is why it should be privatised. Serves no useful purpose. Subscription television can be handled by the private sector!
But my wish will be realised sooner than later. CBC is high on the chopping list when the IMF takes up residence next year!

All this political interference would have to stop. Both parties will have to use other forms of propaganda and it will not be for free!

  13. Hi David

You made a brief reference to Barbados’ credit rating being lowered.
This is a copy of article found on the NET.

    DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services lowered its outlook on Barbados, raising the likelihood of a downgrade to junk-grade status, as the Caribbean nation’s debt burden continued to widen.

Barbados’ reference to ar. But high unemployment, relatively high inflation and weak growth prospects continue to pressure the government to spend.

“Despite some recent improvements, the deficits are projected to continue to be large,” analyst Olga Kalinina said.

S&P projects the country’s general government debt will average 3.7% of gross domestic product on average between 2011 and 2014, while interest costs eat away 13% of general government revenue.

A fixed exchange-rate regime puts a heavier onus on fiscal policies, leaving the government less room to maneuver on a macroeconomic level.

Barbados still benefits from a stable political system and support from the private sector and trade unions for the government’s ongoing adjustment program.

Moody’s Investors Service in June also gave Barbados a negative outlook, citing concerns about the nation’s ability to absorb high levels of government debt issuance with an already large deficit that was expected to rise. Moody’s rates the nation at Baa3, a rating equivalent with S&P’s.

  14. Here I seek not to advance but to end a seemingly painful exercise by sharing just that modicum of soundness earlier requested.Sometime ago Barbados imposed a moratorium on the harvesting of the bajan delicacy Sea Eggs, in an attempt to bring replenishment to a depleted stock, all because they were harvested out of season and extinction was next in line. With that very reasoning the sick and demented mind of The Imperial Ruler hatched a scheme he called “politics of inclusion”assuring the collapse of the Democratic Labour Party, paving the way for his one party republic.Day and night enticements were dangled before a select party, whom it was thought formed the future of George Street. The weak and the greedy (truthman included)fell victim to this nefarious campaign, deciding that “de fatted calf” of earlier mention was too far in the future so they chose to live for the moment “high on the hog” with the hounds that occupy the hive dancing to the tune of their Imperial Ruler. They say that loyalty is the litmus test of friendship,so that one’s conscience determines whether one has passed the test.Miserably our leader failed and in doing so caught the rapt attention of right thinking Barbadians who wondered then as they do now,how do we take this man at his word?Scandalised and insulted should be the emotion felt by the electorate any time this man’s name appears on a ballot anywhere in our Barbados. It was started wrong, and in God’s great name it has to end wrong.A very terrible web was weaved,as the Imperial Ruler sure practised to deceive. All a wunna know I aint lying.

You know and I know there is no threat from me, just statements of fact backed by evidence when necessary. I am not a candidate and there is no expectation at this time. However, and I believe like you, I am sincerely hoping for a Barbados that I can be proud of without having to label the youth demons, or to tease honorary ambassadors in one breath, and then attempt to make sordid their every actions at every opportunity I get.

    @David
Negative changes in the ratings is not what I hope for nor what is in the national interest. I am not going to sit back and gloat about errors made by the DEMS. I shall make my voice count among those eagerly awaiting the end of the DEMS and a return to a reasonable measure of prosperity. Please do not ask me if prosperity comes hand in hand with a return of the BLP — the historical evidence says just that and more.

Your clarion call of “follow the leader, leader! follow the leader, leader!’ seems to be falling on death ears! I suspect many Bajans would wish to do likewise but are somewhat afraid of the “deafening silence” from the leader. We don’t want to be led into a tunnel where there is no light to see our leader or there is so much traffic overhead as to drown out his voice on pressing matters that could determine our economic fate within the coming year.

Let your leader speak up and be more visible. He is capable of it! Or are we suffering from the “halcyon” syndrome of harping back to the good old days of economic merriment and debauchery!
Excuse the strong language here but you get the message! We want to hear and see more of the man in order to inspire confidence and a sense of alternative hope. We know he has the experience and skills for the huge task at hand but a leader needs to make us feel that he still has the ‘spirit’ and the motivation -and the presence- to attract a majority following in this battle for the economic and, by extension social survival of the nation.

His presence in the House today with a heated and attacking contribution would be a step in the right direction in the interest of Barbados. Things getting real tight and this administration must be put under severe pressure to clean up its act or call general elections soon. Maybe FS is waiting for an alibi e.g. a bye-election in which snap general elections can be combined as an escape route to save his skin from the IMF pressure to cut public sector jobs by 8,000.

  21. @ George Brathwaite………rest assured that I never took your response as a threat. My remarks were directed at another on this site(dildo something or the other) who did indeed chose such a path in an earlier post. Wish that you were joining the race though, for now my research has all gone for nought.

“You shall surely hear him tomorrow. Stay tuned.”

We have heard snippets of the Leader’s speech to the commercial barons.
What he said from the brief media reporting just confirms what you and many others already know. Maybe you were there and got the “full monty” regarding his imaginative and change oriented presentation. But for the not -so- fortunate ones please tell us what specifically was suggested as a way to deal with the fiscal neck lock the country is under.
It appears that the 2 S’s are not singing from the same hymn sheet. Now this is awful! The prime man seemingly without a real portfolio is saying that neither tertiary education nor the dlp propaganda organ will be treated as fiscal sacrificial lambs. On the other hand the finance weathercock is spinning in many directions. Now how can a vote of confidence by credit rating agencies in the fiscal measures undertaken- and with all intentions of keeping in place- result in a lower assessment of performance? The obvious assessment to result from such a review would be to say “continue on the corrective and ‘stable’ path you have taken” not a negative outlook indicating a serious need for a more vigorous and surgical correctional approach. “Sumting wong, wong here” from this ministerial reaction!

But seeing that these 2 guys are jokers and involved in some “slap stick’ fiscal comedy, please tell us what your man can recommend to help cut expenditure, stop the fiscal hemorrhaging and currency adjustment exposure at this time. We have a few suggestions but we would wish for you and your leader to be in the spotlight at this time since you are the government in waiting.
