The fuss caused by the Swine Flu Pandemic has abated. Many accused BU and some commenters of being conspiracy theorists, given our published view on this matter.  Now many maybe forced to eat crow in the light of recent reports. Let us be reminded the World Health Organization (WHO) felt compelled to raise the Pandemic Alert to 6 (Phase 6 is the highest warning level that indicates a pandemic capable of widespread human infection). Poor and developing countries followed the advice of WHO and expended scarce resources at the peak of a global recession to stockpile the Swine Flu (H1N1) vaccine.  Reports indicate many countries around the world are dumping excess supplies of the stuff.

Last month a German Magazine released a report which confirmed that “in mid-May, about three weeks before the swine flu was declared a pandemic, 30 senior representatives of pharmaceutical companies met with WHO Director-General Chan and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon at WHO headquarters.

The vaccine industry was mainly interested in one question: the decision to declare phase 6. Phase 6 acted as a switch that would allow bells on the industry’s cash registers to ring, risk-free, because many pandemic vaccine contracts had already been signed. Germany, for example, signed an agreement with the British firm GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in 2007 to buy its pandemic vaccine — as soon as phase 6 was declared.”

Hopefully Barbados Government authorities will use commonsense next time around and resist the call by Big Pharma to line their pockets with our hard-earned foreign currency.

In related health news, our favourite  Journal of the American Medical Association released the results of a new study which concluded that a diet heavy in added sugar is linked to elevated triglyceride levels and may increase your risk for a heart attack… researchers at Emory University found that individuals who consume large amounts of added sugar have lower HDL (“good”) cholesterol levels and higher triglyceride levels than individuals who eat less of the sweet stuff.

    JAMA has released a new study indeed!

    That increased consumption of sugar causes increased fat and increases the risk for a heart attack has long been established, man!

    Thats in ALL the textbooks man!
    That’s nothing new!

    Please note that the same result occurs from eating too much fat or protein also

    Are you saying that the swine flu was not a real threat , and that the local Health Authorities ought not to have heeded the advice of WHO Public Health officials, and that instead that they should have listened to a few jokers who know absolutely nothing about medicine, but post bovine effluent on BU?

    What BU is saying is very simple. Many in your profession expressed misgivings about the H1N1 pandemic. Many knew last year that Big Pharma was behind the drive to sell the vaccine. You Sir have been at the fore of the argument dissing Big Pharma. BU and many in the family smelled the rat long time.

    I am convinced that i was all a big lie . At thattime when the world economy was going to hell in a handbasket what better way than to scare the public who would go out and buy all sanitizing products and not to mention 50dollars for the shot. It was all about big business

    Many in my profession expressed misgivings about the H1N1 pandemic. But just as many recognize that it was a real threat. After all any time a virus mutates it is a threat.

    I am never surprised about what the Pharmaceutical companies do at any time. However, it is always best in medicine to err on the side of caution, as the government did. I don’t support the blockheads in Jemmotts Lane, but they were right to err on the side of caution. They must!

    We must strike a balance and be reasonable. There will be other pandemics. So will we then cry foul or wolf. Will we then disregard the warnings and information disseminated then? Might this not to be our peril?

    With respect to the JAMA article.

    When there is excess glucose on board instead of sending all of the gluose 6 phosphate through glycolysis and the Krebs cycle to form ATP (the energy currency of the body) at the DHAP stage glycerol 3 phosphate is formed and diverted for condensation with fartty acids to make fat (i.e tryglycerides.)

    Some of the glucose 6 P continues to pyruvate and convertion to acetyl CoA which can undergo fatty acid synthesis to poroduce the fatty acids neded to make the ttryglycerides.

    Clearly the author of the JAMA article must know about these well known metabolic pathways.

    All of the world knows the rules Big Pharma play to which includes the nasty collusion of the global health agencies. Are you saying the Barbados Health Authorities should not use the grey matter when making decisions but instead follow blindly?

    Look how nasty these people are. Extract taken from a German Magazine.

    Everything hung on this decision. At stake was nothing less than a move to supply large segments of the world’s population with flu vaccine. Phase 6 acted as a switch that would allow bells on the industry’s cash registers to ring, risk-free. That’s because many pandemic vaccine contracts had already been signed.     In mid-June, 2009, the head of GSK’s German division urged Health Minister Ulla Schmidt “to confirm the delivery stipulated under the contract as soon as possible.” He also asked the health minister of the eastern state of Thuringia to “promptly provide us with binding confirmation of the contractually stipulated orders of the German states.” Similar letters were sent to other German states.

    Whereas the Pharmaceutical companies are bent on making money, I cant say that there is collusion with global health agencies. And whereas Barbados Health Authorities have the option of making the decisions they think are in the best interest of our populace, they must in my opinion err on the side of caution if they must err. If the pandemic did not end before it was thought to end, the story might well have been different.

    The facts are that a pandemic did occur, and that there was a real cause for concern.

    I am really not too excited about the extract taken from the German Magazine.

    You must, however, expect Health Authorities all over the world to err on the side of caution. They will make such a decision for political reasons. And they will also make such decisions on the advice of cautious medical advisors.

    So the BU critics will have to live with this. Thats how it is. LOL

    I have made some statements on this blog recently that some people have dismissed but I find that some people are so blind and oppose for opposing sake.

    I believed then and now that the Swine Flu is a big hoax just like some other things including the so-called ‘world recession’ and when politicians in Barbados use it as an explanation for their own folly, I know that they are trying to fool me.

    There was either a pandemic or there was not.
    There was actually, because cases were actually diagnosed in the approved fashion for diagnosing viral illnesses.
    This actually occurred despite what the not gullible think.

    There is a way that health personell must function. One of which includes erring on the side of caution! I dont expect everyone who posts on BU to understand this; but it is so nevertheless.

    If you go into a doctoirs office complaining of severe crushing chest pain, you would expect him to think that maybe you have a heart attack and err on the side of caution and do the necessary investigations to either confirm or exclude the diadnosis.

    If a female attends her local doctor with severe lower abdominal pain (even if she says she is a virgin) he ought to err on the side of caution and presume that she is pregnant until he can prove otherwise. He must do so or she might just have an ectopic pregnancy.

    Call me gullible as much as you like. There was evidence of a pandemic. The non trained medical illiterate can say what he likes, but the Public Health Officials had the responsibility to err on the side of caution.

    I have always thought it wise when erring on the side of caution rather than pretending that I knew it all. I always preferred my peers to think that I was stupid to send them a person wose fracture I had corectly reduced, than have a person with a mis alignment.

    I was always willing to be thought an idiot to refer the lasses with severe abdominal pain that turned out to be a leaking ovarian cyst or endometriosis, than send them home to hear that they died in the night because they actually had an ectopic pregnancy.

    When people dont KNOW they ought to be willing to SHUT UP, LISTEN & LEARN A LITTLE TRUTH!

    Lookhow this thing works .I call it ”trickle down economics with fear” A freind of mine who suffers with allergies goes to work and she is sneezing .Now remind you this is a job whichshe has had for many years and on previous times has had this problem . Low and behold along comes the “swine Flu” and her boss now thinks she has the swine flu so now he tells her she must go to the doctor and get a release from him saying that she is o.k. to work. My point is that many people spent unnecessary money to be told that they didn’t have the swine flu.

    David I am not being defensive at all.

    I am trying to explain how medicine works.

    I have no wish to defend the establishment, because they were not kind to me. But the Public Health Officials must act according to certain protocols, or they will not have a leg to stand on in the courts.

    Doctors must act in certain ways as I have outlined in the examples I gave or they will not have a leg to stand on in court. Note the current issue with Bailey & Bell before the courts.

    The people can cry out or cry in as much as they like The next time there is a pandemic the Public Health officials and the profession will follow the guidelines and edict given by PAHO or WHO etc, whether the public likes it or not. The public will then be of course free to do as they please, and talk talk talk as much as they like.

    The public dont know as much as they think they know about Public Health or Health at all. They can talk as much as they like, but they wont change a thing.

    There are hurricane warnings every year, and there will be some this year no doubt. The public has a right to dismiss them or take them seriously. Big business will benefit as folk stock up on canned goods at the super markets.

    The only difference is that we have computer models which show the public the direction the hurricane can take . But with big government they alone knows what is the truth and the public is left at a disadvantage about what to believe.

    While there are more I can post I think these illustrate the point well. Barbados health authorities clearly DID NOT research the pros and cons of the swine flu vaccine as GP is trying to state. They simple took WHO word as law and just did as they were told. They were no research otherwise they would have seen the number of issues Canada had with the vaccine (which I haven’t even posted here). Even after all this evidence they are well just drug pushers after all. So much for teaching our kids to say no to drugs! Just lackeys in our government wasting taxpayers money.

    That does not add up to or describe a pandemic. How can anybody blindly support a corrupt establishment as David has so pointed out the evidence? Err on the side of caution? You mean give in to fear-mongering? Commonsense would have told any keen person, that it was a scam. You don’t need to be a doctor to see a scam… but as you say, the doctors give in to the scam on the side of caution. What does that say about doctors? Of course, it is more money for them too, so are they cashing in on the scam?

    I am an advocate for telling people the truth. If you make a decision based on professional qualifications that causes harm, then you should suffer the consequences. As far as I am concerned, not only the big companies are guilty, but every professional who administers that vaccine is guilty.

    I think that people should be told what they are getting into and what are the risks. When you hide the risks and tell them that it is good for them, then that is gross negligence.

    Because one set of vaccinations worked eons ago to the benefit of the health of the society, it is not logical to think that anything can be vaccinated against. Too many of these vaccines are released on the public without proper research and data, rendering the public, not only guinea pigs, but as victims of highway robbery.

    When these things happen they should be exposed to the fullest; ad nauseam. The public must know that they can’t trust anybody with their health including the medical profession and that don’t care what a doctor says, you have to make your own judgment if you want to live and maintain your health.

    We are too trusting of those whom we perceive to be in authority. That is a dangerous practice that the public has adopted. All professionals ought to be as accountable as politicians in going about their duties. Here is where the freedom of information act is also useful. It will force the Government to make public what is known about professionals.

    Especially those who charge their clients large fees. They can’t have their cake and eat it too. If you are advising the public at exorbitant rates, then let me see your background.

    This is not AIDS. We knew what we were up against with this as well as with AIDS. Stop the fear-mongering. What AIDS What? No comparison at all, even though both were designed to make certain people real rich.

    We were told that the flu was mild but yet vaccinations continued. The statistics for swine flu, never even came close to ordinary seasonal flu, at the time the vaccinations started and there was no indication according to the same WHO that it would spread as fast as seasonal flu.

    Then came the bombshell that it was a pandemic. What foolishness! If you want to fool people, come better than that. Nowhere near HIV/AIDS.

Its all well and good after the event to download stuff , but it does not evince that you understand the important principle that I am stating.

    You can post a thousand more links. The authorities did what they had to do. And you can bark and bray as much as you like. At the next pandemic it will be done again; and you will bark and bray again. LOL.

    This so called research you are downloading was available when? And Barbados health authorities are correct to err on the side of caution. They were wise to accept the edict of WHO. That is what WHO is there for. If they had not followed WHO ‘s edict , and there were several deaths in Barbados, morons of your ilk would have a lot to say.

    At no time did I say that the MOH researched the pros and cons of the swine flu vaccine as a simple reading of my posts clearly indicates. How could they research the pros and cons of the swine flu vaccine themselves? By reading articles from magazines and news articles? Is that how research on a drug is done? Do you know anything about the process about how a drug is developed or brought to the market? You do realize that it is easier to Google stuff from the internet. Do you know anything about the swine flu? Or the management of a viral illness?

    The government did not waste taxpayers money, anymore than you would if you had chest pain and consulted your personal physician because you thought you had a heart attack . Perhaps you would have to pay a consultation fee, for an ECG for blood tests, a chest Xray etc only to find out that you only had something less sinister.

    To suggest that the MOH were pushing drugs because they were seeking to do their job is irresponsible. There is no relationship to their decision and teaching our kids to say no to drugs!

    I will leave you conspiracy advocates to get on with your moronic mouthings

    mua bruda not all vaccines behave in all people the same way,so doctors have to weight up benefits and the dangers,let us say we have a vaccine that will cure a million people and cause injury two but if nothing is done all will die what would you do?it is good to be wise after the facts are known so much for good judgement,and this is the telling point

    These are the kind of people we have to deal with on a daily basis who call themselves professionals. Come with some lame example of kill all or only one or two. The ordinary seasonal flu was killing 2000 people per month in the USA, yet the swine flu was declared a pandemic before it had reach 2000 cases far less 2000 deaths. What you telling me at all? Where was the danger? Seems like the swine flu saved a good few by being the seasonal flu.

    You people have to come to the public with the facts and not your persuasion. Even if you are persuaded, quote the facts because the facts that persuaded you in one direction, persuaded many of your equally and more qualified colleagues in another. May have been the same facts too, so let your patients decide what they want to live with; 6 is half a dozen but let them choose.

    Re so doctors have to weight up benefits and the dangers,

    Doctors must do this everytime they write a script. They must especially do this in cases pf pregnancy.

    They must also consider age, sex, weight and other factors that affect the metabolism of a xenobiotic.

    If you take a look behind the curtain to see those who ‘err on the side of caution’ you will find the same set of people i.e. big pharma, the ama, the fda and some corrupt doctors and other facilitators of the medical, business, political and military establishment. That is why its so important for them to err on the side of caution.

    But just watch the wall that was built to protect those who operate from that side of caution crumble. The rest of society no longer desire to imitate you or look up to you. Your lies, deceit and corruption is surfacing just like scum and water.

    Today you have big pharma concocting ‘medicines’ for ‘diseases’ before they actually exist.

    You take pill A to combat disease B and then you need to take take pill C to combat the ‘conditions’ that have now been caused as a result of taking pill B which initially, was to get rid of disease A and like a circus it goes on and on.

    but the times they are a changing, some people are waking up. and this is making the establishment very nervous.

    Some of the block heads at the Ministry of Health questioned buying the vaccine as the side effects were the same as if you have the H1N1. they knew it was crap but couldn’t very well tell the public that they would not buy it, in spite of the fact that CNN was suggesting the best thing to do was stay at home. it is known too that there is a cure for HIV/AIDS but the FDA refused to approve it as to do so would see the ‘big Pharmas’ losing thousands of dollars. there is extremely famous person who came out and admitted he had the disease 20 yrs ago. but there is speculation now that because of his financial position, he was able to have the cure. it is a wicked world we live in.

    Since when is CNN an authority on health or health edicts. Is CNN trained in Public Health?

    You need to understand that the FDA only has jurisdiction in deciding what drugs are released in the USA. You need to understand that drugs are manufactured I many parts of the world.

    Do you think that the corrupt folk at the FDA would refuse to approve a drug to stop the pharmaceutical companies from making money, when they wont make any money themselves if they blocked the approval of the drug. Check your facts before your efflux of bovine excrement, man.

    Do you really believe that if there was a cure for AIDS that some one some where wont be making lots of money therefrom?

    Check ya reasoning man, do you really believe that if there wa s a cure for AIDS that the person who had the medicine would only sell it to one person in 20 years instead of to 20 million? And that that one person would be Magic Johnson a black American man. You really believe that black American men are the most beloved people on the face of the earth? You believe that “Big Pharma” love black American men so much that the only person to whom “Big Pharma” has sold the cure for HIV/AIDS is a black American man?

    I was reading somewhere today that Stephen Hawking thinks that aliens are out there. It looks like some are right here on this blog.

    Do you beieve that the FDA is the only drug approval agency in the world? The FDA approves for the U.S. and the U.S. only. TYhe world is a big, big place. There are 7 billion people in the world and only about 300 hundred million are American who are bound by FDA approvals.

    The rest of the world routinely markets and approves drugs without FDA approval.

    Do you think that the EU waits on FDA approval?

    Do you think that China waits on FDA approval

    Nigeria?

    Australia

    India?

    Brazil?

    The U.K?

    Australia?

    Do you really believe that if there was a cure for AIDS that none of the countries mentioned all of which have big pharmaceutical industerties would not be out there producing the medicine and making big, big money. You really believe that capitalists would let the FDA stop them from making money?

    It is good to see the WHO has setup a review panel to look at how it responded to the H1N1 (Swine Flu) matter. Let us hope the concerns which have been expressed and continues to this day is constructively received by the panel.

    David I want you to understand that I do understand the concerns expressed, but I want you to understand that there are principles by which medicine is practiced.

    If a practitioner does something that is not accepted and someone is harmed, it does not matter how many times he has been sucessfull in doing that practice. Once it is not the accepted practice by the profession he does not have a leg to stand on in the law courts.

    On the other hand if the same practitioner does something that is the accepted practice and there is an untoward result, the practioneer will not be held culpable.

    Note the current case in the courts with Bailey & Bell. In the days before Anaesthetics was an established specialty in Barbados non specialists gave anaesthetics– and certainly non specialists can give anaesthetics (after all they do so during their training.)

    But is it now acceptable for a non specialist to give an anaesthetic in Barbados except under supervision while in training? You will find that the specialists will testify against persons that do so.

    Similarly the manufacturers of drugs give contraindications for the use of their products. Folk who do not follow these recommendations will not have a leg to stand on in court.

    You see David its not about what the BU family think or say. LOL. Its about protocols and the way the profession works.

    The courts in Bim cant convict Bell and Bailey unless their colleagues dont back them in court. LOL Bu family members can bark and bray all day long but they cant touch these guys.

    Whether you like what I have said understand the truth and principles pointed out.

    There was a pandemic of swine flu. Check the definition of pandemic.

    Cases were diagnosed in the approved fashion of finding increase of titres of antobodies to the viral particles.

    The Center at Atlanta made certain detwrminations. This center is a worthy body. So is CAREC.

    So how does untrained medical illiterate morons on BU say other wise, beats me.

    WHO PAHO & MOH responded to the information given them in the approved and accepted fashion. They can not be condemned in any court in any country.

    The court of BU or CNN or publ;ic opinion can not convict them. They can only bark and bray and exude bovine effluent.

    I hope that some little thing is hereby taught. You can agree or not. But can you change it? I doubt.

    Bear in mind that the process which feed same protocols can be changed, usually at the behest of the people upon who they are inflicted.

    In other words if the people don’t make noise nothing changes. Let us see what the review panel comes up with this time around.

    I am happy that you understand the principles which underpin certain protocols in medicine.

    If you would read my posts carefully, you will find that they generally are fair and ought to benefit the patient. I watched a program two nights ago where following such protocols benefitted some mothers and their new born infants.

    Protocols and regulations are only as good as the folk who effect them. If practitioners are diligent dutiful faithful and exercise the necessary care caution and integrity, we will generally get a good out come if not always a perfect outcome.

    Please explain to me David how protocols will be changed at the behest of people who don’t even know that there are protocols and what the protocols are?

    Here are two little rules that I am sure that most BU barkers and brayers don’t know.
    1 No woman should have a lump in her breast.
    2 All women of child bearing age are pregnant unless proven otherwise.

    How you like those. Don’t treat blood results (tests) treat the patient.

    I can go on. You will find that these little protocols ( though seriously flawed and probably outdated) once faithfully followed will benefit the patient ! I watched a tv program two nights ago in which a doctor commented on how following one such simple rule saved the lives of a mother and infant.

    How will ill informed folk change anything by making irrelevant noise Sir? I do not see a list of relevant questions being asked about the pandemic or about the virulence of the microbe, or about the development of the vaccine or any of the serious questions that ought to be asked that would constitute noise of any substance.

    The simple answer to that is feedback and stakeholder input. A doctor may have knowledge but anything simply put and explained can extract simple solutions from the listener/stakeholder.

    The problem I have with some professionals is that they think that people are idiots because they don’t know. A person does not have to know about a protocol for it to affect them. Nor do they have to know that there is a protocol for it to affect them. How it affects them speaks to the benefits or disadvantages of the protocol. How they react speaks to the effectiveness of the protocol.

    This approach that certain people have to protect people from themselves is very backward thinking. If you outline the facts, probabilities, purpose, etc to people, they will surely be able to make their own choices; either to their satisfaction, or to what they are willing to live with.

    So if a woman comes to find out if she is pregnant, the doctor must prove that she is not pregnant? My foolish question is, how do you prove that a woman is not pregnant if you don’t know what her condition should be if she is pregnant?

    You seem to be a reasonable man who is willing to learn about things about which you do not know without engaging in moronic mouthings that are very charactersistic of posters on BU.

    In 2004, while teaching Female Reproductive Tract in a Clinical Medicine class, I explained why doctors must act on the premise that “all women of child bearing age are to be considered pregnant unless proven otherwise.”

    There were two girls in the class- twins- from the Cameroons, who then confessed that they were always annoyed that while growing up as teens that their doctors would ask them questions which they then considered offensive. Now they understood why!

    They learned that day that wise doctors consider such when writing presecriptions for certain drugs. They learned that day that doctors must always be wary of ECTOPIC PREGNANCIES, and that they must protect themselves by guarding against missing an ectopic pregnancy.

    When ever they see a paient with severe abodominal pain they must first think ECTOPIC. You do not have to miss your period to have an ectopic period. You dont not have to bleed .

    I hope that this little note will be appreciated by those with daughters, nieces, sisters, grand daughters etc and realize that the spin stops right here, because many of the protocols are meant to look out for you.

    The jackass may now continue to bray and reveal his pedigree, because I know of what I speak, and I speak about which I know. I can remember some cases which I told my sudents about.

    I am from US. Swine Flu IS a conspiracy. Very bad things are moving forward rapidly here in the US. Do not trust the NWO or the W.H.O. There is an Evil agenda at work and Barbados as far as I can see is one of the ONLY nations not yet controlled by those seeking the one world government. I read initial plans by them regarding stategies for Barbado’s but you appear to be years behind where America has been brought to. I continue to pray that you can keep your Nation and freedoms. I hope many of you will listen and take the scheming seriously. It IS true and more. Remember, the truth is not a conspiracy theory, it is a conspiracy REALITY. I’m sure of this and America is losing it’s soverienty as I write this 🙁

    I too live in the USA and I can see that very bad things are moving forward rapidly here in the US, and it has nothing to do with NWO or the W.H.O. There has always been an Evil agenda at work and when the one world government is formed, do you think that Barbados can stand against the forces?

    The one world government was predicted by the prophet Daniel centuries ago, and its becoming a reality has no relationship at all to swine flu or the “stategies” against Barbados that you saw. Thirty years ago it was AIDS. What will you think off next?

    Who are you who has read specific strategies for Barbados? There is no specific strategy for Barbados in the formation of the one world government. Are you trying to be a so called fear mongerer? LOL. Or are you just a sub moron with advanced betzpaenia and early Alzs?
