2008 BLP Manifesto - Only The Best For Barbados

Barbados Labour Party (BLP) released their Manifesto 2008 at Eagle Hall tonight.

It was the turn of the Barbados Labour Party BLP) to launch their Manifest.
rmarshall.jpg

  • In is the BLP’s turn tonight. Unfortunately we missed most of Rommel Marshall’s presentation who was the first-up because of audio issues with the streaming.

jbostic.jpg

  • The second speaker up to the podium was Jeffery Bostic, the candidate for the City. he made the point that the BLP manifesto was produced in Barbados. A reference to the current accusation that the DLP has been importing shirts from St. Lucia and accepting assistance from Taiwan. He focused on the plans to target the youth. This will involve the establishment of 4 Youth Centres across Barbados. There will be a focus on self-improvement with the expansion of the much discussed Project Oasis. Develop Youth Camps. Construct a multi-sport facility for many disciplines e.g. netball, volleyball, basketball etc. Expose the country to the use of computers. Upgrade subventions to community based organizations…

tlovell.jpg

  • Third speaker-up was Dalton Lovell who delivered the BLP promises concerning culture. His speech appeared to be more parochial that national. It was obviously decided that he should use the occasion as a sell job. His presentation was also affected by a gremlin.

Ismael Roett is on his way out but was given a slot to say a few words. He used the occasion to defend his decision in the Hardwood Affair. He also reminded the public of the period 1994 when many Civil Servants were sent home by Sandiford Administration. His delivery was an impassioned one as he tried to make a connection to poverty alleviation and the BLP.

rgrant.jpg
  • Next man up was Rudy Grant. The theme of his opening salvo was to remind the audience of the 1994 period i.e. lay-offs and 8% cuts – a case of fear tactics.
cmascoll.jpg
  • Surprisingly Mascoll was next. We were surprise to hear Mascoll batting a that position in the batting order. he reminded Barbadians of the removal of twenty six thousand people from the Income Tax list. He quite rightly reminded Barbadians of the rise of the middle class under the Arthur administration. As a reward the BLP manifesto will give back to them. He used the example of managers in the private sector who have been in place for a long time so why not Arthur. He appealed to the female vote by outlining opportunities where they had benefited under the Arthur policies. He reinforced the idea that the foreign reserves of the country is very strong which now stands ar over 2 billion dollars, Yet another speaker affected by the gremlins…
lthompson.jpg
  • We are back-up in time to hear Elizabeth Thompson outlining energy initiatives in the Budget. We like the idea of Barbadians getting incentives to push them to embrace energy measures in their household and the type of energy saving vehicles they purchase. Ooops here comes the gremlins again!

Ok people this is where we sign-off. When the BLP publishes its manifesto online we will provide the link on our sidebar.

  5. BREAKING NEWS .

WE need International election observers to monitor our elections in Barbados URGENTLY.

Reliable sources have informed that Owen Arthur ( Minister responsible for elections ) have issued a directive to the EBC officials that those election workers voting on 9th January 2008…..must vote for the BLP or else !

Owen Arthur explained to the EBC officials that such a process is followed in ZIMBABWE & CUBA !

Owen Arthur further explained to the EBC officials that this election is too important for his BLP party to LOSE !

  6. That is certainly a MASSIVE crowd in Eagle Hall.

And I thought Bajans din like rain?

  7. Bare rain in wunnah ass-no-questions too.
Nuff uh my dlp friends getting manifestoes too… wonder what dey gine do wid them………….??

  8. Sonia Cambridge Avatar

The time for action is drawing close. I will never trust Thompson with his “to date” two-mouthedness. Arthur has too many facts on him.

    Time for change?

KEEP the government and CHANGE the opposition!

  9. BFPE

I know desperation when I see it.

I hope it you will still be screaming when you see Mia and Owen and the rest with the handcuffs around their wrist heading off to prison.

    Sleep tight,Blp thiefs.

  10. There are more people in the rain for the BLP manifesto launch, than the DLP had on Saturday night for their launch. I wonder where their were.

  11. Sonia Cambridge – I agree with you totally on the DLP stuff, but we differ on the Adrian Loveridge part. Kellman should be the deputy, but since Thompson will have to step down after this one (4 beatings, 3 as leader) maybe they would realise with Kellman they stand a better chance. I too can never forgive the days of Sandi.

    Undertaker,

This shows where the true power lies.

Observe how those people are standing firm in all that rain.

    The DLP will lose.

  13. Sonia Cambridge Avatar

I like Kellman as a DLP leader. They need to get rid of Thompson.

But I would like Kellman even better in the BLP.

Thompson will never agree to give up power in the DLP. He still thinks he is the heir to Errol Barrow’s legacy. Too power hungry and lie-ed.

Do they think Bajans are fools? I was watching the BLP meeting in Carlisle Car Park and I observed something which caused me to think real hard. I saw Gabby there. I saw Kerrie Symmonds there. I saw Hamilton Lashley there. I saw Clyde Mascoll there.

I don’t know of anybody who has left the BLP in the past 15 years to join the DLP. And I only say the past 15 years because that’s as far back as I can remember.

As for Adrian Loveridge, he is a filthy and deceitful skunk.

  14. Sooooooooo many people, a lot of histal will have to be sold, and bush will have to be boiled. Will have to have my people ready for Tuesday morning.

  15. Sonia Cambridge Avatar

Oh how I wish I could be there. But not knowing when it will end I don’t want to leave home and arrive when it is over. And I DON’T want to move from in front of my computer!

  16. Sonia Cambridge Avatar

Tuesday morning will not miss me.

I am going to make a copy of all these comments tonight and see if BU is going to DELETE them in order to suppress signs of BLP support.

  17. Forgive, but Parliament has been dissolved. There is now no Prime Minister. Mr. Arthur is intervening in an Industrial dispute (C&W) in his usual manner as the shining knight on the white horse (or whatever). But he no longer the PM. What is happening?

  18. And I didn’t want to get wet 😀

  19. Manifesto are being distributed now at the meeting by the hundreds, (unlike the DLP) available in the morning from headquarters, and the various constituancy offices. Those people sure braved the rains. WE GOIN WITH OWEN. You don’t change a cook, just because the food, may smell better on the other table. This is our lives and our country and our future that we are playing with. This election I GOIN WITH OWEN!! I take it one election at a time

i too was standing in the rain ,but just to hear what the pm now had to say about the taiwanese cover up ,especially now he has made himself a big dummy jest catching at shadows .Perhaps you need to read todays paper.

  21. Over at BFP is very silent on this BLP meeting and also on the BLP manifesto, the sight of all those people standing patiently in the rain seems to have them shocked and mortified, cause the DLP had great weather, and could not even muster a sure two thousand. They are talking about a superstar, and abortions. Maybe they too were braving the weather. I wonder how many people like myself decided to use the internet to receive the message?

This corrupt blp is like a drowning man catching at straws.

One day they will realise that lying is not the way to go.

you on bout 1991 . 1991 you saw an 8 *% cut .what % ru getting now ? sure its more than double or dont you shop.
    *****************

But the things are hard all over the world, check the prices of oil and corn. You cannot compare without looking at these factors. 1991 was strictly about mis-management of the economy and lying to the electorate, they said everything was great, said the BLP were making up stories and within 6months people were watching a great holocaust in Barbados, people lost jobs, homes. Wives left husbands, families broke up and people were running from Barbados to start all over again, people even ended up in the mental. Let us be real and try to remember the true hard times. Things are hard now yes, but mostly by people having very bad spending habits, and not budgetting properly. To date some have not fully recovered.

  26. You guys really believe the BLP poll that Mascoll will beat Sinckler bad, bad bad?

  27. Undertaker et al the talk about DLP manifestos not ready for distribution must be taken against the background that Arthur knew the date of the election and could arrange with printers. Thompson would not have known and calling elections on the 20th the PM would have made things really tight given that companies are closed for the holidays.

  28. BUSSA DEBATE TO REPLACE CANCELLED TV DEBATES

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS (JANUARY 8, 2008) — It’s an event which no patriotic Barbadian who cares about good governance would want to miss. In fact, it’s the main campaign event this week following CBC’s decision to cancel the much-anticipated televised election debates.

The Democratic Labour Party (DLP) has come up with an alternative. It’s the ‘Bussa Debate’ — a single national political rally tomorrow night, close to the roundabout which bears the name of the legendary 19th Century freedom fighter and national hero.

DLP Political Leader David Thompson will use the opportunity to raise issues he had intended to put before Prime Minister Owen Arthur had the televised debates taken place. He will provide details, for example, of “the latest and most stunning example of governmental mismanagement and squandermania”.

“I have stopped short of saying ‘corruption’ because I want the voters of Barbados to come to that conclusion for themselves,” Thompson said. “I will put the facts to the country and permit thinking Barbadians to determine whether this type of conduct in public life is acceptable to them”.

Thompson said what he will reveal explains why the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) did everything possible to wriggle Arthur out of a ‘live’ TV debate and why the election date was set to minimize the opportunity for full public debate and analysis of the issues.

“The moment I said I wanted a debate on governance, the Labour Party retreated from the idea of debates. I suspect the Prime Minister feared that I might have been onto something and he did everything humanly possible to preempt disclosure,” Thompson said.

He added: “I will be taking the opportunity as well to address this issue of campaign funding and the final resting place of campaign contributions. Mr. Arthur came with this red herring issue of Taiwanese involvement in this campaign to detract persons from examining the real charges that have been levelled against him, dating back to 2003. The time has come for me to give chapter and verse on that entire episode…”

“This election is not about China or Taiwan. I repeat for the umpteenth time that this Democratic Labour Party has not benefited in any way from a single contribution from either China or Taiwan. This election is about governance and the manner in which we want as a people to be governed.”

The meeting will also feature presentations from trade unionists Robert “Bobby” Morris and Deryck Alleyne as well as former government minister and current DLP Campaign Manager, Branford Taitt. Other speakers will be Christopher Sinckler and Dr. David Estwick.

  29. When one person chooses to write the vast amount of useless trash, they surely are lacking of grey matter.

  30. I think its sick when we have one person keeping noise for the BLP on the blog when really and truly those six names listed ~B~F~P~E~, HONEY BEES, SONIA CAMBRIDSE, DING DONG DELL, 900LB GORILLIPHANT, and LOYAL BAJAN SON are 6 of 1 and 1 of 6. To put it in simple terms we have one person posting/commenting as six (6) different supporters of the BLP now this speaks volume about how BFPE operates now who is the liar.

Its time we get some real genuine BLP supporters posting and engaging the DLP supporters in some real debates.

  31. Its really tooo late for the B…ullers…L…esbians…P…arty..
    One big Orgy..
Cant wait til bajans give dem de boot…
All this talk about taiwan…so what if they get some bucks from taiwan…the debt that owen and he crew leaving us in…we will need way more than Taiwan’s help…call in China…call in de f—ing UN..

The kind of politics that this govt has practiced over the past decade has been very dangerous and it is a miracle that b’dos is still so calm..

bajans are stupid…very stupid…we wait too long to highlight the criminal activity of the BLP…all these politicians got big bank accounts and the sections of our society that matter most…suffering..

Be careful barbados…these days are funny nights!

  34. BLP gine get real licks, total watse of time lead by a drunkard telling lies every night instead of focusing on real issues affecting the people.. housing, cost of living, high taxation and lack of concern for middle class persons. Time will tell!!!

    RAIN PARTY
    Published on: 1/9/08.

    by MARIA BRADSHAW

    THE SHOWERS came down.

    Umbrellas came out.

And the mammoth crowd stood firm.

The large congregation who flocked to Eagle Hall, St Michael, last night to receive what the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) termed “The gospel according to the BLP” – their much anticipated manifesto – was unmoved by the “showers of blessing” that drenched thousands congested at the meeting place. …………………………..

  36. bUnderGround,

The sight of all those THOUSANDS of RED-CLAD BAJANS standing firm in the POURING RAIN for HOURS at the BLP MEETING in EAGLE HALL last night has certainly sent SHOCK WAVES down your spine.

  37. Here is that phrase again: “to date” – All it means is that not received the money “as yet”
(just waiting for the funds to be DISBURSED)

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader David Thompson has vehemently denied the charges, stating that “the DLP to date has received no campaign funding from either China and Taiwan and the issue of diplomatic relations with either has not surfaced in any of the councils of the party.

Also note that the manifesto is already available on line.

  38. the blp manifesto is a far more comprehensive document than that produced by the dlp

  39. They were wearing red.
They are most probably BLP supporters.
Neither BLP nor DLP supporters win elections.
I look at the ones not wearing yellow or red…
My conclusion from observation: The swing is large and against the BLP.
P.S Voters vote against governments not for oppositions.

  40. makaveli

the crowd at eagle hall was the largest the blp has had for the launch of a manifesto.

could you tell us where the dlp published theirs

  41. I WANT THE BARBADIANS TO THINK ABOUT WHAT THERE ARE DOING WHEN VOTING. ‘MOVE WITH ……….. . LOL. I SEEING RED.

  42. I am a DLP Supporter and I was there last night a,ong with many other DLP Suporters.
But you should hear some peole in the crowd………

It is too late…don’t care what the BLP comes up with now …they had 14 years to do it but instead they stole our money and made themselves rich

  43. Anonymous,

“I am a DLP Supporter and I was there last night a,ong with many other DLP Suporters.”

    Yeah, right.

Who is your leader? The way you does LIE it must be two-mout Thompson for sure.

But who is your deputy? Do you even know?

  44. I do not think many of you party loyals really know the BEAST that you call the PM really to be.

when he makes a habit of calling honest hard working citizens at 3.00 and 4.00 am to curse them, when he can call and curse steven Alleyne at the wee hours of the morning and curse and blister him in curse for his report on CWC, when he can send a POLICE VEHICLE to collect HAMMY LASHLEY and take him to ILLARO COURT to blister and curse him for not wanting to seek re election it is a sad day in this island.

REST ASSURED THAT THE MIDNIGHT AND EARLY MORNING CALLS ARE NOW A THING OF THE PAST WITH THE ELECTION OF MR DAVID THOMPSON AND HIS GOV’T TO OFFICE.

LET US VOTE FOR A NEW BEGINNING ON THE 15TH OF JANUARY 2008.

  45. WIV, is there proof to what you are saying?
    hear say int admissible

  46. Donald Duck is a frraud. He poses as an informed independent analyst, but his comments show his bias clearly.

The BLP has lost a lot of credibility with this manifesto. Having savaged the DLP proposals for being unaffordable, they have presented what appears to be an even more expensive package.

    This is pure lection gimmickry.

The DLP solar proposals will do mare more for energy effciency that the BLP’s wish list.

  47. I have been saying that for some while now the DLP and Mr DAVID THOMPSON have been running the affairs of this island it came right down to the calling of the election date.

Arthur is a tired thing and his grouping of thieves and misfits and immoral, classless clan is nothing to be admired or to to be looked upon as honourable or trustworthy.

They will do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO HOLD POWER and to try to continue the RAPE of our TREASURY but we the people will speak loud and clear on the 15 th we want A NEW BEGINNING AND IT STARTS ON THE 15 TH OF JANUARY WITH A VOTE FOR THE DLP AND EACH OF ITS CANDIDATES.

VOTE TO REMOVE THIS DICTATOR FROM OFFICE NOW. VOTE DLP.

  48. Buppie,

    You have been outnumbered.

I do not trust two-mout “to date” Taiwanese Thompson.

    I will vote BLP.

    I goin’ wid OWEN!!!!

  49. Instead of hoping for an oil find the DLP is willing to make a bold move into alternative energy.

  50. Jevan tell me how much this contract is worth you from the BLP to blog your load of crap on these sites, you did say that you were paid by that BLP to blog and give them a good look, your style sort of negates the feel good look good aspect for the party.

I trust that your company RED ADVERTISING is now preoccupied with trying to spread the lie according to the BLP, what a job to take on by a non national !!!
