If we are in a falling period for cases a flood would take a couple of weeks to work its way through to the water extraction sources so we may have a month at least of falling cases.

Hours after it went into effect, Dr Lynda Williams, Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners president, and Valarie Francis-Miller, president of Barbados Nurses Association, said they could not yet comment on the move until they met with their respective members.
The meetings were scheduled for late yesterday or this evening and both leaders said they would then be in a better position to speak on the safe zones, starting with health service institutions such as nursing homes, hospitals, senior citizens homes and dentist offices, among others.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley announced on October 11 that Barbados was implementing safe zones, where those working in them either had to be fully vaccinated or consent to a weekly COVID-19 test, prompting immediate reaction that caused her to take to the call-in programmes to explain further. The November 8 order was gazetted on Saturday.
Trade unions were against the move while the private sector supported it.
Yesterday, general secretary of Unity Workers Union, Caswell Franklyn, maintained it was a rushed measure designed more to satisfy tourists than safeguard the health of Barbadians.
โIt doesnโt make sense and I donโt believe the Prime Minister fully understands the concept. Any vaccinated person can still catch and spread the virus, so COVID-19 can still spread within a safe zone. I donโt understand their reasoning. Is it because someone else is doing it overseas? We are putting money over everything because we want that tourism money,โ he said.
The Opposition senator said the fact that none of the unions were consulted was proof Government was pushing a political agenda which could have long-lasting repercussions. He said no employer could legally force an employee to take any vaccine, according to the labour laws, so he foresaw much litigation in the future.
โI have advised my members if they were to get disciplined or terminated for refusing to get vaccinated because of these safe zones, to take their case to a tribunal or the court to get satisfaction. Government is allowing employers to break the law and any employer who goes ahead will end up paying lots of money,โ he said.
The trade unionist said
he did not trust the available vaccines and would not be taking any as he questioned Barbadosโ apparent insistence on them without looking for any other alternatives.
Two days before the initiative was implemented, acting general secretary of the National Union of Public Workers, Richard Green, and general secretary of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados, Dennis De Peiza, lamented not being properly consulted and said they now had to play things by ear.
De Peiza said: โI am not really surprised because the Social Partnership is not being engaged in the way that we expect it to be and this type of action has become the norm now, so I am not surprised by anything.โ ( CA) -

Itโs a result of monthโs worth of poorly planned bureaucratic responses. Emergency room professionals are seeing a distressing spike in non-CฮVID visits. In addition, the vast majority of these non-CฮVID patients are far sicker than anything they have ever seen. Because of this increase in severity, long-term care facilities are overwhelmed as well. Patients with conditions such as respiratory ailments or heart problems are much sicker than in previous years. These illnesses have gone virtually unchecked for over a year because of the excessive attention given to CฮVID.
Many illnesses have metastasized into far more serious conditions. The rise in the number of patients flowing into emergency rooms is burdening an already overworked healthcare staff. Vaccine mandates leveled by Joe Biden are making this problem even worse. Hospital human resources officials are watching as more nurses choose to leave rather than be vaccinated. According to a recent survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, 26,870,000 Americans — or 10.8% of the 18 and older population — say they will either probably or definitely not get the vaccination.

Despite pockets of resistance, Florida is doing a better job at vaccinating its population quickly than most states. So far, 60.6% of Floridaโs population are fully vaccinated, compared to 59.2% of all Americans.
Meanwhile, the virus continues to spread. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 3,656,010 confirmed cases of the virus in the Florida, and a total of 59,499 residents have died as a result.

The numbers of cases have turned the corner and are falling.
Barring any unforeseen weather, by early December we could be approaching the levels we experienced prior to the surge.
If we get no more flooding for the balance of the year and into next year, we could be essentially COVID free in early 2022..

Grenada has had about 800 more cases than Dominica and 167 more deaths.
But Dominica has more active cases (354 vs 83) from which another surge can be manufactured.
Early days yet to say what will happen in Barbados.
Currently we have active 7636 cases.
Floods now could be bad for us.
But signs are good for a recovery.
