The following was posted @10:05PM on the 13 September 2021by Disgusting Lies & Propaganda TV to blog in reply to GP and JOhn Knox on the Barbados: Following the Science on Covid 19?

Your two posts above make medical sense neither the “virus” or the “vaccines”” are behaving typically.

That is amazing when one of the most common respiratory virus behaves the same way and the vaccine(s) used to combat it has the same level of effectiveness.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Influenza_vaccine

The longer this pandemic progresses the more the “science” is supporting my assessment that COVID-19 will become one of the common respiratory viruses (diseases). These viruses have the common:-

1) the recovery rate eventually being high even without a vaccine.

2) They still takes lives worldwide by the hundred of thousands. This is usually from those that are immuno-compromised and were not vaccinated. This is in comparison to the hundreds of millions that recover.

3) A “one and done” vaccine does not exist. This is due to the fact that these viruses mutate rapidly (in comparison to most viruses). A (major) virus mutation does not necessarily make it significantly more debilitating \ fatal. It may make it more evasive to the immune system and in this way MAY cause more deaths INITIALLY. The immune system has to (re)recognize these mutations as a threat and mount a response. This is how the immune system functions. Through our lives it recognizes MOST pathogens and mounts a response to MOST of them. Vaccinations help reduce the length of time to re-recognise the virus\mutations and for mankind to develop a collective immunity.

My question is why is mankind “reinventing the wheel” when we have been exposed to viruses that behave the same as COVID-19 and are still commonly spread. We have not been able to eliminate these viruses and these viruses have not eliminated mankind. My observation is we have been “blinded” by non scientific fake news, the politicizing of the public health disease prevention measures and the utter nonsense from anti-vaxxers. Also, some of the mixed messaging from the scientific and medical community has only added to the uncertainty in combating this virus. What we must do is to logically assess this virus after a 20 month pandemic against the history of fighting similar viruses\diseases and let modern science help tame this pandemic in the shortest time possible.

As supported by the prevailing science and the data on COVID-19 this is my assessment on the pandemic

1) border closures, lockdowns & curfews will become useless to stop the spread in any meaningful way in the long term. The advent of the delta variant HAS and WILL make this abundantly clear. Those measures were used with the intention of being temporary and that the pandemic would have eventually ground to a halt. This is now wishful thinking. Far from coming to a halt, only more variants have arisen. What these measures may do is to provide a temporary reduction of cases. This is just too costly, unsustainable and ineffective for the purpose of ending this pandemic. More targeted measures are needed.

2) The first measure is to have a deep and rapid vaccination program. Barbados and countries the world over have gone through mass vaccination programs to viruses before (including to viruses that literally have been more crippling). We know from influenza that vaccines and boosters are devised yearly for particular influenza subtypes(variants). They have not been mandated as influenza now has a relatively high recovery rate unaided. My estimation is that countries should have the CAPACITY to immunize 60% – 70% of the population over 6 months for the next 1-2 years. This falls inline with estimates of the length of time particular vaccines are effective. Not strictly getting to this number does not mean failure as this virus has a high recovery rate to begin with . it will only determine how long we will stay in this pandemic. The current vaccines have been given “emergency use authorization” after going trough successful Phase 3 trials. Real world data is supporting the full authorization of these vaccines. This will strengthen the argument of mandating vaccines at least until the pandemic is brought under control. Vaccine mandates are far from unique. In my opinion when these vaccines are fully authorized, there must be a universal mandate of either to become vaccinated or be subjected to 7-14 day testing at least for the next 12-24 months. This mandate can occur when there is enough vaccines\boosters to vaccinate 60-70% of the population

3) Mass isolation \ quarantining will become impractical and basically unnecessary for THIS virus. In Barbados, the data is showing that the majority of cases are in tertiary isolation. Gov’t is now considering monitored home isolation. In my opinion this is essentially supervised sick leave. Doctors authorize SICK LEAVE with intention that people STAY AT HOME to recover on their own.
The danger these people with COVID pose to the rest of society is less if we continue to adopt the public health measures of sanitizing, temperature checks and mask wearing for all including the vaccinated. In my opinion this monitored isolation should only be for the unvaccinated. In theory, those vaccinated that develop Covid-19 should pose an even lesser threat when directed to be on “sick leave”

4) Data is revealing that the virus spread is occurring in enclosed areas with poor ventilation and people staying in such areas for a prolonged periods. In certain environments e.g. in bars or restaurants, improper mask wearing occurs for prolonged period without the required social distancing This is an obvious, unwanted and now unacceptable gap in the protocols. The strategy against this is straight forward. Reduce or totally ban the patronizing of such places( environments) if the public health disease prevention measures cannot be adhered to.

The CMO has stated that sanitizing the work place after the discovery of a single COVID case is not obligatory. I would support the idea that this sanitizing be mandated by the Ministry of Health if such a business has been found to be the source of a significant cluster or has been the destination of several cases. The MOH should perform a specific “COVID-19 audit” of said businesses to modify operations to make them compliant to prevent future COVID-19 spread.

    Protective zone one areas is just a name

    How many people live in bell gully for example?

    Look up the rise in the level of nitrogen over the years That will give u an idea of human infiltration and BS your protective zone one area – pertaining to virus in water

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Take a look at Barbados on Google Earth.

    You will see there is protective zone.

    Ok. so a few breaches, but nothing like around the desal plant!!!

  3. Varied approach a must

    I recently read an article in the Atlantic news entitled America Is Getting Unvaccinated People All Wrong. The article very pointedly addressed common errors made in vaccination campaigns and provided useful suggestions on how to change the approach and messaging around vaccination to better encourage vaccine uptake.
    The article can be viewed at the following link and is a must-read for concerned employers and those involved in the national vaccination campaign: https://www.theatlantic. com/health/archive/2021/07/ unvaccinated-different- antix.
    The article highlighted the need to recognise that many unvaccinated persons have legitimate questions and concerns, which when adequately addressed reduce vaccine hesitance.
    It also distinguished between vaccine availability versus vaccine access.
    Factors such as lack of transportation to vaccination locations, opening hours of vaccine centres, unavailability of paid time off from work all limit vaccine access even when vaccines are widely available.
    It was also noted that the unwillingness to give information on or have conversations about possible side effects of the vaccine, even uncommon ones, increases vaccine hesitance. There have been thousands of reports worldwide of reactions following the vaccine as seen from the easily accessible data on the CDC VAERS website and the United Kingdom’s yellow card reporting website. Though many reported adverse events have not been investigated to determine any link to the vaccines, the reports exist nonetheless.
    People who remain undecided and have seen these reports or who know someone in Barbados who experienced a reaction which though not necessarily caused by, but occurred shortly following vaccination, find it difficult to believe the narrative that is being portrayed in Barbados that suggest that only flu-like symptoms or injection site pain have resulted from vaccination. Failure to acknowledge that there have been local complaints of more serious adverse events following vaccination, that may have been triggered by, even if not caused by the vaccine, creates distrust among the hesitant and gives ammunition to the anti-vaxxers.
    Finally, the following section in the Atlantic article addresses the concerns of those who believe vaccine uptake is too slow.
    “Now that vaccines aren’t novel, we’ve lost some of that early momentum when people would go to their local Walgreens. Now we have to do the heavy, high-touch work, making sure that we proactively reach out to everyone. And we can only go as fast as people are willing to go… It’s why we need to reimplement mitigation strategies, like indoor masking, in addition to vaccination. That’ll give us the time to do the work. No form of mitigation will block transmission 100 per cent, but we have to use them together. When the cavalry arrives, it’s not like all the other soldiers on the field just leave.”
    We can’t rush people to be vaccinated as this may have the opposite effect of increasing hesitance.
    A recent study conducted by Professor Dwayne Devonish of the University of The West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, found that the continued talks and pressure by employers for their employees to get vaccinated was having a negative impact on their mental health, which increased vaccine hesitance of even those who are provaccine. In the meantime, we must focus on the other mitigating strategies such as: a. Ensuring adequate ventilation systems within the workplace, including regular maintenance; b. Since not all masks have the same effectiveness, educate and encourage employees to wear only double-layered masks or, where possible and available, use the triple layered surgical masks or KN95 masks; c. Allow remote working where possible; d. Have clearly communicated workplace policies for enforcing the safety protocols among workers, including the use of progressive disciplinary measures where employees regularly breach the protocols. In serious cases, dismissal may be justified for continuous, inexcusable and deliberate breaches of the safety protocols; e. Where appropriate, have unvaccinated employees sign waivers of liability for virus-related losses that are not due to the employer’s breach of duty or negligence.

    Under-18s a worry

    More than 300 Barbadian youth have been infected with COVID-19 this month, and Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic is concerned about the statistic.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Most of these are in the southern corridor.

    What that means to me is virus spread by water is more likely to be in large doses and even those with strong immune systems are sitting ducks.

    Also means that it if the virus can spread by water or air, the most likely source a person got it from would be water!!

  5. It also means that vaccines may be useless with the larger dose and those unvaccinated are going to get it bad!!

    We see these two simple bits of empirical evidence.

    Eradicate the virus in the water and you will eradicate COVID from Barbados with the only threat being from outside.

    That is manageable.

  6. All we have to do is pray and ask the Grim Reaper God to stop poisoning de watuh!

    This is the question I have for the rabbit who says he has answers- if only God can take us, why are we charging and convicting people for murder?

  7. CleArly u do not understand the protective/ zone one area do not stop infiltration

    Neither that the water in the belle and Hampton comes from the higher inland areas so could be infected before it get to those area.

    We should have had herd immunity by now
    Not deaths nearly everyday for the last week

  8. But if you accept the MOH at his word then most of the cases are at the bottom how can they be the result of contamination from the top where there are few if any?

    Zone 1 is not there to prevent infiltration.

    It is there to ensure a time of travel to the extraction point that is high enough that the concentrations of live bacteria or “live” virus is minimal, if not zero.

    The Zoning will not work in the case of salts in solution.

  9. So as far as bacterial and viral contamination goes, Belle and Hampton will in all likelihood be fine.

    If you listen to the folks at BWA regarding the zone changes proposed, you will see that the time of travel is estimated to be 200 – 300 days for Zone 1 and 2, A and B..

  10. @ David September 19, 2021 12:47 PM

    The problem with compulsory vaccination will soon be solved when only vaccinated persons can leave Barbados (as of October for Canada) and when travel agencies insist that local hotel staff are vaccinated throughout.

    It should also be considered whether our government should set up sanctuaries for refuseniks where they live behind barbed wire and without electricity.

  11. What percentage of water is chlorinated before distribution?

    What is the purpose of chlorination?

  12. Zone 1 is not there for any reason

    It was a designation of the area because of the closeness of the water to the surface which makes the possibility of contamination easier than in a zone 2 or higher region

    In other words, the decision will be made for us.

  15. The Belle gets water from sea level, 141 feet into the coral, not very close to the surface.

    Zone one is to ensure travel time underground of bacterial contamination outside of the Zone 1 perimeter is grater than 200 days.

    That ensures most is dead by the time it gets there.

    I’ve seen survival times for COVID in water as high as 35 days.

    Belle should thus be no problem.

    Same logic applies to the other BWA wells.

  16. Mind you, there will be a high probability of chemical contamination.

    Zoning has no effect on this sort of contamination as chemicals are inert and in solution.

  17. If you think than rain in the bell/ Waterford and surrounding areas takes 300 days to reach the water table then keep fooling urself and misrepresenting what the guy from BWA said

  18. Do u understand why there is restrictions on building in the belle or other zone 1 areas ?

  19. Why is water chlorinated before distribution?

  20. John2September 19, 2021 5:06 PM

    Why is water chlorinated before distribution?

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    To kill as much of the remaining bacteria that may be present as possible.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    If it was only the catchment area in the Belle area we would never have enough water!!!!

    The underground water taken at the Belle may come from as far away as Coffee Gully in St. Joseph!!

    You are thinking too small!!

    There is a tremendous volume of water flowing underground towards Belle to which the minimal volume from the tiny area you speak of.

    I’ll look for the diagram I posted to help Grasshopper understand the water flow.

    Maybe it will help.

    Why is water chlorinated before distribution?

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    To kill as much of the remaining bacteria that may be present as possible.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    But we all get some fecal coliforms in our water, just at a level that meets WHO standards.

  23. JohnAugust 25, 2021 1:55 AM

    The house introduces waste water into the fresh water lens.

    Once it is far enough away, by the time any bacteria or viruses reach Belle they will be dead.

    So, Zone 1 will protect our drinking water once it is chosen (and enforced) at a large enough distance to ensure the time of travel of the bacteria and viruses exceed some value which ensures they die.

  24. The brown stuff from the house in the diagram has to pass through 140 feet of coral before it gets to the fresh water lens at sea level and begins its travel towards the sea past the Belle pumping station.

    The motion of the fresh water lens towards the sea is driven by the stream water flowing from as far away as Coffee Gully to the Charles Rowe Bridge area.

    It is sloooooooooooooooooow!!

    And so it is was in 1978, the Water Resources Report had this to say.

    “No significant pollution problems have been experienced at any of the water supply wells since the development control zone restrictions were imposed in 1963; the zoning policy may thus be considered successful.

    The zoning system was, however, examined to determine whether it could be modified to allow residential development in the bacteriological protection zone (Zone 1) should development pressures indicate the desirability of this course of action.

    Four alternatives were analyzed:

    provision of sewers within Zone 1 and disposal of treated effluent outside Zone 1;

    reduction in the size of Zone 1 and provision of improved treatment at each well;

    allowing sub-surface disposal of wastewater in properly designed percolation beds;

    reduction in the size of Zone 1, based on recent data regarding pollution survival times.

    Of these alternatives, the reduction in size of Zone 1 to a 100 day time of travel, (from the present 300 days) is the preferred choice as it would reduce the amount of Zone 1 land by 31% but would still ensure adequate protection of the ~round water resources. The first alternative (sewering Zone 1 land) would also free land for development but would involve significant capital and operating costs; the percolation bed alternative is less costly but entails more risk of ground water pollution.”

  25. Once no one takes a “crap” in Zone 1 in any of the existing buildings present AND once that person does not have COVID AND is not “shedding” the virus, no problem.

    Right away the probability of contamination with the virus is small with all the AND’s!!

    But think about what happens to the waste after it is flushed.

    It is either going to go through a septic tank system which will impede its flow downwards to the fresh water lens, or if there is no septic tank it will end up in a shallow well.

    It does not go straight into the freshwater lens.

    Take a look at Google Earth around the Belle Pumping Station and around the desal plant.

  26. Septic tanks are regularly pumped and the sludge disposed of, I suspect at Mount Stinkeroo!!!

    A thriving business exists with various companies striving to be No 1 in the No2 business.

    It is said some even have a political dimension!!

  27. Did i not say that the water from the belle and hampton come from higher elevations inland? you not telling me anything that i do not already know. i have been there and done that ….all of the research you doing is already ingrained in my head from the work i did there.

    it is you that saying that covid is water bourned, now providing evidence to show it very difficult for bacteria/viruses to get into and survive in our distribution system cause infection.

    I understand clearly that BWA meant the water takes that long to get from higher elevation to the belle …. on the other hand i am telling you that it would not take that long if the rainfall is over/around the belle area (or is sewage from houses is released) = that why it a restricted / zone one area

  28. Great!!

    Explain now why the MOH is telling us that the bulk of cases are in the Southern Corridor.

    It’s got to be water.

  29. There are five possible water sources for the Southern Corridor.

    Newmarket

    Belle

    Codrington

    the Desal Plant

    Hampton.

    It is extremely unlikely that the virus will get past the Zone 1 Area so four out of five of these sources can more or less be eliminated.

    That leaves only one possible culprit!!

  30. Where does the water for the south comes from?

    I got a report today of a case in horse hill, st Joseph. Explain that.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    How long is “not long”?

    Longest I have come across on the web for the virus to survive in water is 35 days.

    Now go and look at the desal plant on Google Earth.

    … and yes, I have been told by a microbiologist that it is impossible for the virus to fit through the membranes!!!

    But you see I worked for years in manufacturing plant and know exactly what can happen!!

    Haven’t seen anything yet that would persuade me different.

  32. JohnSeptember 19, 2021 10:42 PM

    … and I quote:

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    I’ve never said there is only one way of spreading the virus.

    I reckon there are atleast two.

    So, either the person from Horse Hill was in contact with someone who had it OR ……………..

    Water went off in the area as it normally does and was trucked there from lower elevations OR ………………….

    The person went to town, or to do business in the Southern Corridor and drank some water OR ……………….

    The person went to a friend in the Southern Corridor and took a shower because the water was off in Horse Hill.

    BTW, look at the RFP from the BWA for sewering the Sweet Bottom area from which Castle Grant Reservoir gets its water, occasionally.

    I could go on but the point is we should deal with the bulk of the cases first and not the outliers.

  34. Who runs the water trucking business?

  35. JohnAugust 14, 2021 4:11 PM

    Talking about “cities without sewers, we know Bridgetown is already sewered and there is a sewage treatment plant.

    Here is a request for proposals to sewer specific areas.

    The specific areas are instructive if you understand the lay of the land.

    REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS Design Build Services for Sewage Disposal Solutions to Specific Districts
    RFP # BWA-21/06/13-1 BARBADOS WATER AUTHORITY, June 13 2021.

    One of them is Murphy’s Pasture, adjoining the Sewage Plant.

    The Ministry of Public Works is in the process of executing civil works in the area of Murphy’s Pasture just northeast of the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant within the City of Bridgetown, Barbados. This work proposes to alleviate the problems of flooding at Murphy’s Pasture and surrounding areas such as Chapman Lane and Emmerton Lane. Such flooding poses a direct threat not only to property but also to the health of residents as floodwaters almost always contain black water carrying pathogens and grease, which could adversely impact the health of those who encounter the water.

    Despite its proximity to the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant (BSTP), this densely housed area is not currently connected to the nearby sewer system but is serviced by wells or pit latrines. Sewer mains are laid within proximity to the area, and as such, it may be possible, if the necessary levels can be attained, to direct wastewater generated from this area into existing sewer mains either by gravity or through the use of a small lift station to the BSTP for treatment.

    In addition to 3rd Avenue Chapman Lane, flooding has also been reported within the avenues south of Westbury Road as well as in the lower section of Passage Road with its intersection with Baxters Road. In an effort to avoid similar public health concerns to residents, the design and installation of sewerage infrastructure for approximately seven hundred and fifty (750) houses within the aforementioned areas are deemed necessary.

    Evaluation of the additional wastewater flows generated, and the ability of the BSTP to accommodate these additional flows should be discussed with BWA’s Wastewater Division’s Engineers and senior technical staff.

    The other areas to be sewered are also instructive.

    Golden Ridge Village is right next to the pumping station at Sweet Vale.

    Development has been allowed to proceed there since the 60’s with no respect for the Zone 1 area around it.

    “Baileys Alley
    Bailey’s Alley is an area of approximately 19.5 hectares and comprised of approximately 140 residential
    structures immediately surrounding the Golden Ridge Reservoir with the potential to negatively impact
    groundwater supplied from the Sweet Vale boreholes. Bailey’s Alley is situated within the Zone A
    boundary of the Golden Ridge Reservoir.”

    Belle Tenantry
    Within the Belle Zone A area, and adjacent to the southern boundary of this Zone A area, is an area of
    land (referred to as the Belle Tenantry service area comprised of approximately 5.20 hectares), containing
    105 residential structures, and the Belmont Primary School is considered to be an area that could
    negatively impact the Belle well water supply quality due to a lack of proper means of disposal of
    wastewater generated in the area.
    The service area has developed over the years and can now be classified as a significantly built-up
    community, with some properties having fenced boundaries and water closets. Commercial activity was
    also observed, with at least one food service establishment/bar being in operation. There is evidence of
    the provision of various utilities, including water (numerous PVC schedule 40 pipes or “banjo strings” laid
    across the ground surface) and poles erected to facilitate above-ground delivery of electricity to houses.
    Additionally, the area has roughly laid out roads that allow for vehicular access to and egress from the
    service area. The number of houses constructed within the service area has increased over the years.
    Under current investigation is an area within the service area, containing approximately 35 house
    structures which is reported to have been a quarry that has since been filled (see figure 3 in appendix).
    The Ministry of Energy (MOE) have indicated that they have no records of any registered quarries within
    the Belle Tenantry. The MOE, however, noted that within a listing of quarries across the island, an entry
    is made under the Belle, Belle Tenantry. As such, the past existence of a quarry within the service area
    remains unclear and should be confirmed. Any housing structures built upon any backfilled quarry are
    to be excluded from the service area and shall not be included in the sewering plan.

    Bellevue Gap
    Bellevue Gap is an area south of the Combermere Secondary School, approximately 8.6 hectares in size
    and containing around 120 residential structures. There is a concern about inadequate wastewater
    treatment in the area, given the existence of pit latrines and the associated public health and
    environmental concerns.

    I would imagine in time to come major sewage works will be done to the east of the DeSal Plant.

    Now if they had said it was the fleas in the bats that were responsible I would have to have pondered the possibility as I have always accepted that it was fleas from rats that spread the black death. (Unquote).

    Isn’t it the same ‘agent’ which created the plague that eliminated Egypt’s firstborn as recorded in your book biblical myths and fairy tales?

    Or maybe, just maybe, that biblical plague- targeted at the ‘black’ Egyptian boy children- was spread through the consumption of contaminated water from the rat-infested river Nile.

  47. Climate change
    Further information: Climate change and infectious diseases
    According to a report from the United Nations Environment Programme and International Livestock Research Institute named: “Preventing the next pandemic – Zoonotic diseases and how to break the chain of transmission” climate change is one of the 7 human – related causes of increase in the number of zoonotic diseases.[14][15] The University of Sydney issued in March 2021 a study that examines factors, increasing the likelihood of epidemics and pandemics like the COVID-19 pandemic. The researchers found that “pressure on ecosystems, climate change and economic development are key factors” in doing so. More zoonotic diseases were found in high-income countries.[39]

    A 2021 study found possible links between climate change and transmission of COVID-19 by bats. The authors suggest that climate-driven changes in the distribution and richness of bat species harboring coronaviruses may have occurred in eastern Asian hotspots (southern China, Myanmar and Laos), constituting a driver behind the evolution and spread of the virus.[40][41]
