COVID 19: NO Retreat, No Surrender

The fight against COVID 19 by countries across the globe is real. Barbados given its heavy dependence on tourism (services) is exposed more than some other countries. We are here now and we have to do all that we can to survive. The blogmaster predicted months ago the conversations will shift to finding ways to enforce mandatory vaccinations. It is a conversation currently taking place across the globe, including Barbados.

 

This week’s charts suggest that we might be at the start of a new wave that could last for months as was the case of the earlier 2021 waves in Jamaica, Guyana, T&T and St Lucia and with the added complication of the presence of the very virulent delta variant in the region. The signs that suggest otherwise are that the daily positivity charts are all at less than 5% over the past 3 weeks and that the Covid-19 teams are continuing their good work and that, despite the very high odds against, the aggressive work by the Authorities have so far resulted in fairly significant levels of vaccination take up. The ride will still be a rough one but everyone needs to do their part to conquer this insidious foe

    Did i not say something only this morning about the DISENFRANCHISEMENT of the Black majority by the lying governments…just recently i wrote a small piece on this and posted it somewhere, can’t post it to BU cause they will tell ya that ya lying and trying to make the island look bad….so ya gotta post it where people would understand the blight of the people.

    suffering and starving over 2 generations of Black people is what they do but can get in the news and boast about how many millions of dollars they pick up belonging to these same vulnerable people and give to minorities with nothing to show for it…

    Before spewing your usual uninformed rubbish, you should ask yourself if the retired NAB employees are entitled to the pensions they’re protesting about not receiving.

    It is a known fact that, over the past few years, that Auditor General has been warning the NAB about paying pension to retired persons for which they were not eligible or entitled to receive.

    “The audit for the year ended 31st March 2019 has been completed. As a result, the audit of the accounts are currently up to date. The Board has not been abating (reducing) the pensions of those workers who came into the service after September 1975, by amounts received as National Insurance pensions as required by the Pension Legislation. This matter has been brought to the attention of the Board and management of the NAB by my Office for several years; however no action has been taken to resolve the
    matter.” [Auditor General’s Report 2019, page 80, Cap 5.21]

    NAB’s Home Help Service was established in 1980.

    What we should be the focus of our concern is, if those persons have to repay the pensions thet received and why stop paying the pensions at this time, when they would have framed their lifestyles on current incomes?

However, according to the report, the most likely recommendation will be to significantly expand the list of countries under travel ban or travel warning – in both cases all returnees have to quarantine, for the first group Israelis are prohibited from visiting unless they obtain a permission from the devoted special governmental committee.

Officials attribute the explosion in the number of cases despite vaccination to the delta variant, i.e. the variant because of which every adult (and every child) in this country is supposed to be forced to receive the supposedly protective vaccination.

For example, Report24 reported on the Seychelles as early as May : Their vaccination rate is considered exemplary worldwide – to this day the Seychelles have one of the highest vaccination rates in the world. At the same time, however, they also have one of the highest incidences with values ​​well over 500 .”

    as a lump sum it has reduced big numbers to smaller numbers

    but vaccine program is supposed to be a means to opening up places under lockdown, which may result in more deaths, but relatively speaking will be less than they would have been

    the variants seem to be less deadly but still spreading

    seems like easing lockdowns might only be temporary efforts and put they will be put back in place again if things go from bad to worse

    I did not even think about whether to have the vaccine or not until it was offered

    at which point my parents and youngest son had already had theirs as they were deemed high risk categories

    and as they had theirs with no effects it made my decision fall in place easier and was the obvious choice

    Is it feasible for a country with a relatively weak and indebted economy to contemplate introducing a bi-yearly vaccination policy for her population? Just to reassure her tourists that Barbados is a safe destination.

    Is it prudent to maintain an unsustainable tourism industry which is bringing the virus to her shores.

    I don’t know if you noticed it or not, but something very unusual happened last year as a result of the pandemic.

    As if by magic, the number of flu cases fell off the face of the earth.

    Isn’t that just the most fascinating thing you’ve ever seen?

    Well, it would be if it were true, but the truth is that this isn’t really the case. I was very suspicious of this reported all last year when I kept seeing the flu at all time lows, yet we saw COVID at the highest levels that we’d seen yet.

    If the masks were really supposed to be helping, and the lockdowns were supposed to be helping, and if this is what was preventing the flu from being spread last year, then how on earth would the same measures not be working for COVID as well. It didn’t make sense.

    That’s because it was false information. The cases were exaggerated once again, just like they were done in the summer.

    According to the CDC,

    After December 31, 2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, the assay first introduced in February 2020 for detection of SARS-CoV-2 only. CDC is providing this advance notice for clinical laboratories to have adequate time to select and implement one of the many FDA-authorized alternatives.

    In preparation for this change, CDC recommends clinical laboratories and testing sites that have been using the CDC 2019-nCoV RT-PCR assay select and begin their transition to another FDA-authorized COVID-19 test. CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses. Such assays can facilitate continued testing for both influenza and SARS-CoV-2 and can save both time and resources as we head into influenza season. Laboratories and testing sites should validate and verify their selected assay within their facility before beginning clinical testing.

    This really says it all. The RT-PCR tests could not differentiate between the flu and COVID. So once again, the numbers are proven to be a lie.
