Encouraging signs are to be seen of late from trending reflected on the Barbados Covid 19 Situation Report. Yesterday recorded 9 reported positive cases with the positivity rate falling below 2%. Compared to Jamaica, Bermuda and The Bahamas to use three regional examples of service economies highly dependent on traffic from outside of country, Barbadians, including the government have done a good job to clawback from the precipice which beckoned a few weeks ago when all COVID hell broke loose.

Another encouraging sign is the rapid rate of penetration of Barbadians vaccinated. It has been reported that 1st dose stock of vaccinations were exhausted this week and the country is waiting on the next shipment to restart inoculation to satisfy high demand.

Clearly given the unknowns associated with COVID 19 and the virulent nature of the virus Barbadians cannot allow themselves to be lulled into complacency. The state of the economy combined with COVID fatigue by citizens everywhere must continue to motivate us to listen to the health officials in whom we must trust.

Congratulations Barbadians!

    New cases in India for today at 92,998, just shy of the 100K mark.

    Previous highest was 96K, so about 3% off.

    Deaths at 514, about 200 less than yesterday.

    Four weeks ago deaths were at 91 and falling and a US expert had listed the 10 things the Indian Government had done to get cases and deaths to fall so drastically.

    What a difference a month makes.

    Can you imagine just how much COVID would spread if Mosquitoes were also capable of transmitting it.

    Water and air I believe are acting together in India and mayhem is the result.

    If there were indications that Mosquitoes also spread it as they do Yellow Fever, Dengue and other viruses all hell would break loose.

    How do you have a vaccine that is NOT tested, unproven, and yet it is effective?
    How do you make a vaccine that only prevents you from getting the WORSE form of the disease, but it doesn’t prevent the disease is all forms? Does that make sense?

    I haven’t commented on these covid-19 post for a bit.

    If there is one thing that I found joy in, it is the response of the GOB to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like most of you, I could second guess and point fingers, but if I am honest to myself, then I must admit that despite any/many missteps, the GOB has done a good job.

    I remember sitting in my home and wondering how a 2×3 country was giving its citizens vaccines and all I was getting was emails. At one stage I became so angry that I whipped off an angry email, so now my name is probably on a list of crackpots in NJ.

    Ignore the conspiracy theories, the pseudo science and ‘outright lies’ often deposited on the pages of BU. Think for yourself, do your own research and come to your own conclusion.

    I did and all I can say is ” Great job GoB”. Give yourself a pat on the back, take a bow, but remain vigilant.

    How do you know that it is a passing virus?

    How do you know that it is not a revolving, ever evolving virus that will take all of humanity to the place were the dinosaurs have gone?

    Maybe if a flu shot and flu passport had been required we would not have millions killed around the world annually.

    A PASS PORT is exactly that. If you don’t have it you can’t pass my port. Do whatever you feel like at home, but I ent letting you into my place.

    My response: I am listening to relatives, friends, neighburs, former colleagues etc. none of whom have ever been dishonest with me in 40 or 50 or more years. Many of whom have been working with Covid patients in Barbados and abroad for more than a year now. Some of whom I have “known” before their parent’s met, some of whom I have known since they were in diapers. I know these people. I love them. I trust them.

    If I don’t trust them, how and why should I trust some stranger on the internet?

    Am I foolish to trust people who have always been good and loving to me?

When you catch the flu or cold you are still contagious, that is why doctors recommended a 1 – 2 week sick leave to STAY AT HOME to avoid spreading it and for you to recover on your own. The worst form of disease from viruses leads to DEATH. The objectives of vaccines is to prevent death, to prevent the spread of the virus internally and externally and for the body to recover on its own. It will be similar for COVID-19 when more vaccinations are done globally.

    Has the GoB taken your advice and closed down the Desalination plant at Spring Garden which you fingered as the source for the spread of Covid-19 and its mutants across Barbados?

    What Lying John is not saying is that the testing is simply to identify where the virus is and to test and identify the infected residents whose waste it is even before any symptoms are even experienced.

    Nuff nuff virus in waste water means hotspot. Nuff nuff infected people transmitting through proximity to each other, sharing the same spaces and breathing each other’s air.

    It has nothing to do with the transmission of the virus via water.

    Moving everybody the COVID buses identify as potential for COVID to Harrison’s Point is a way to prevent them shedding the virus into the ground water.

    However, if that is the strategy being adopted GOB should know that the virus appears in the sewage up to a week before symptoms arise.

    Horse is out of the stable long before the COVID bus turns up.

    So, deaths will continue to rise and cases will continue to fall.

    The rise will not be large as there is probably only one source of water borne infection.

    We will never rid ourselves of the virus if this is the strategy …. but we can with a little common sense!!

    What if AIDS were transmitted by water!!

    Does the AIDS virus appear in sewage like the virus that causes COVID?

    Probably does but it may not survive long enough like the virus that causes COVID.

    All we are seeing is that different viruses are spread by different means.

    Ok John Jacob, we have not stopped them but we have definitely slowed them down. These deaths are from people who caught Covid-19 before the vaccination program had as much penetration as it has now . So I guess the real acid test is how much more we can slow down the deaths by slowing down community spread and vaccinating more people to stop those deaths.
    Barbados is now at the same point Australia, New Zealand and Singapore reached approx. 6 months ago with community spread and they didn’t see a resurgence. Dominica never had textbook community spread.

    Not a good prognosis for India.

    The major bathing dates are in April so in all likelihood, the worst is yet to come.

    The pilgrims have to show negative COVID status but the virus is waiting for them in the rivers in which they will bathe.

    It is going to spread like wildfire in India.

    I seem to remember a time when you were opposed to considering deaths as being due to covid, but now it seems as if you are willing to count all deaths as due to covid.

    The problem with the GOB’s Fever House at Harrison’s Point is that it is pretty difficult not to record any deaths there as anything other than due to COVID.

    The GOB can’t tell the press that a person died in the Fever House of a heart attack or an infected great toe without the press twigging something is wrong..

    In the US, Hospitals get $39K for every COVID death vs $13K for non COVID deaths and there is political mileage to be had.

    600K X 39K = Mucho Dinero!! >>> Billions and Billions of $$$

    KXK = K squared = a million.

    The US numbers are rubbish.

    India is as far as I can tell, for real and the GOB with its Fever House is forced to be honest.

    What is becoming even clearer from the Indian numbers is that the death rate in the US due to COVID was probably concocted.

    The second and third ‘shahi snan’ will take place on 12 April and 14 April, respectively.

    It can only get worse for India.

    Chinese New Year and Mardi Gras hit the US for six.

    Brazil had the Carnival in RIO in 2020 and never recovered.

    Looks like a pattern is starting to emerge but Indi’s upswing will put the US and Brazil in the shade.

    Ok Johnny ma boy. 29 days at Harrison’s Point, I doubt he contracted COVID-19 the same day he got placed in the facility or even the same day he got tested. So accommodating for the incubation period (7-14 days) he probably contracted Covid-19 in the last full week of February 2021. I would have to check how many people in Barbados was vaccinated by that time. Once a person gets to the point to be placed on the ventilator with COVID-19 the prognosis is grim. It would be good to know how many are now on ventilators and fhow long they were at the facility

So for example if a set of twins were diagnosed with Covid19, and 1 died on day 28 that is a Covid death. If the other dies on day 29 that is counted as a death from heart attack, pneumonia, multiple organ failure etc.

    Define treatment.

    To what standard?

    Every drop of BWA water has impurities.

    Much of the water the DESAL plant or BWA pumps will originate as wastewater, some as sewage.

    Some impurities will escape any treatment process.

    For example, the standard for the DESAL plant is 250mg/l total dissolved solids.

    SIMPLE FACT OF LIFE!!

    The BWA and DESAL plant never had to deal with the COVID Virus before and no one knows if the 250 mg/l is adequate.

    Maybe it should be 0.25 mg per litre … who knows.

    Maybe it should be zero!!

    This is simplicity itself.

    It is distilled, the method which produces the purest form of water.

    Life threatening infections can result if impure water is used.

    Google and see for yourself.

    I recently went to the dentist for a lost filling and expressed my concerns about waterborne diseases like COVID as the dental office was situated in an area I am pretty sure gets water from the Desal plant.

    I learnt that dentists are ahead of the game where water purification is concerned.

    Reverse Osmosis does not yield pure enough water for use in a dental office.

    Same principle at work with the DESAL plant.

    Isn’t that same principle involving similar risk factors applicable to breathing in polluted air?

    Why aren’t you calling for the banning of the burning of fossil fuels which are known contaminants of the atmosphere and reversing the process which Mother Nature took millions of year to bury underground so that primates like you can survive as the most dangerous species?

    As Lying John knows very well, it is the positivity rate that is telling rather than the number of confirmed cases. The positivity rate somewhat negates the importance of the number of tests conducted.

    The positivity rate has been trending downwards for weeks. For a clearer picture, it is better to take a weekly average of the positivity rate.

    But trolls gotta troll and liars gotta lie. John is both.

    If people are not getting tested the new cases statistic as well as any positivity ratio are irrelevant!!

    The only real data to go by is the number of deaths.

    Rising, falling constant or zero.

    Some countries are zero … eg Dominica, Vanuatu etc.

    The secret is to learn from those countries that have zero deaths or deaths that have plateaued, ie constant..

    Therein lies the key to the solution.

    Explain those countries and you can explain rising or falling deaths.

    The secret is to get rid of the virus in its home outside of the human body.

    The new case stats in India with 115K+ cases today are highly relevant because lots of testing is happening.

    The new case stat in Barbados is irrelevant because very few are being tested.
