The blogmaster must admit that following the platforms of ALL political parties campaigning in the St. George by-election has been a slog. In Bajan parlance- boring is shyte.

The highlights- negative for the BLP (time will tell)- of the campaign have been 79 year old Delisle Bradshaw’s statement ‘any idiot can play cricket’ and the questioning of Gline Clarke’s dual citizenship. A press report in today’s Nation confirmed that Clarke always intended to renounce Canadian citizenship. One is left to speculate why BLP political strategists allowed the issue to grow wings by not getting ahead of it

For the blogmaster the appearance of Rawdon Adams on the SGN campaign trail makes for interesting rumshop discussion. Minister Santia Bradshaw (daughter of Delisle Bradshaw) reference to pedigree has set political tongues wagging with cries of elitism. What is it about the Bradshaws!

It is no secret the blogmaster has a lot of time for Senator Adams. His unflappable style, obvious intelligence, exposure to the outside and yes ‘pedigree’ and heritage equips him to be as good as or better than any other candidate. His entry to local politics would in the opinion of the blogmaster add value to the political landscape of Barbados. The obvious conclusions being made by onlookers is that he will be declared a candidate coming soon. Others suggest it is a case of Adams answering a call by Mottley for ALL Bees to swarm SGN.

For those who missed Adam’s presentation forward to 2hrs 40m of the YouTube video.

  1. So now it has to be ascertained how many of the parliament frauds have held dual citizenship all along while pretending to be citizens of the island, which doesn’t matter much either way, since they will eagerly sell out the people with or without it to enrich themsleves, human pestilence.

  2. Marshsll should keep mouth shut his response was mounted on monkey see monkey do
    absence of law and regulation

  3. Have you found out why the DLP allowed Kemar to run for GS if they knew he had a pending court matter?

  4. @ Tron

The New York court case against Donville should have revealed whether or not he had residency in the US or was a citizen. I suspect it was said, but bad reporting missed it.
Since he was convicted this incompetent government has not launched an inquiry in to the scandal, yet have the audacity to talk about Clico.
It is not for the president of the DLP to say if a member (former?) of the party has residency or citizenship of another nation. S/he will only know what the member is prepared to say.
The fundamental point is that it is a conflict of interest for a member of our parliament to also hold citizenship of another nation and this declaration should form part of the swearing in process.
Stop personalising the discussion. I appreciate learning by rote means everything is binary: you are either a Bee or a Dee, he is right or wrong. etc. The issue is far more important constitutionally.
The point is that you cannot vote on legislation in the interest of Barbados while at the same time having the interest of another nation in your mind. In other areas of public life we call that treason.
Further, it betrays the trust of constituents if you have a foreign passport in your back pocket and can easily run away when things do not work out, one must question your sincerity.
How many former MPs, or their children, now live and work overseas? They do not have to live with the consequences of their bad decisions. How many have citizenship by patriality?
By the way, because former prime minister Stuart keeps his peace does not mean he is secretive; there is a vast difference between secrecy and privacy. It takes a certain mind to interpret privacy as secrecy.

  5. David, I mean Stuart.

I think the issue is irrelevant, but as others are making it a mountain, let all of them disclose.

It is only right, as they are forcing Clarke to relinquish his.

  6. @Crusoe

Agree, we live in a global village, mobility of citizens is key in a brave new world.

  7. @Crusoe

You are being guided by the fact he was a frequent visitor to Canada especially for his annual medical check?

  8. Have you found out why the DLP allowed Kemar to run for GS if they knew he had a pending court matter?…(Quote)

This question is irrelevant. The DLP will only know that the young man was arrested and charged if he had revealed it. He had not yet appeared in court.
The real question, and one the DLP is strangely keeping quiet about, is if he was arrested in October 2018, why did he only appear in court after the St George North by-election was announced, a year later?
Under common law, the prosecuting authorities are duty bound to bring an accused before the courts at the first available opportunity; a year later speaks to a failure of the rule of law.
Equally, was the attorney general informed of the arrest? Was the president informed of the arrest? Was it a political decision when to bring the court appearance?
The issue has gone beyond the possession of a small amount of illegal drugs, and goes right to the heart of the integrity of our criminal justice system. The is the REAL issue.
But, on BU, as befits a people who learned by rote, the binary issue is exaggerated. Petty politics win everytime.

  9. David
You are in an unenviable position.

A party elevated a GS with a checkered past. And instead of that being interrogation based on that established factoid half of the leadership of idiocy here starts by proffering that the dlp could not have known about the man’s scrape with the law.

Any sentient being would accept that the party should have known and would not get into trivia about what it actually knew or now.

Our considered opinion is that both he and his twin brother oppose you permanently for opposing sake. And it is high time that the guillotine be deployed with a ruthless efficiency against them both.

  10. Not

  11. @Pacha

    No.

  12. David, yes.

  13. Yes re the visits.

  14. Seems to me Hal Austin has a point. If one is a citizen of another country one can destroy it and run, thereby escaping the consequences of your actions.

    Something to think about.

Oh dear! Agreeing with Hal Austin again.

    🤦🏽‍♂️

  15. Really happy to hear Atherley step up to the Parliament podium and demand good governance on issues that are representative of the country and people
Unless under undue or unusual circumstances No ruling govt can make any rule or suggestions to remove or alter rules or guidelines put in place to protect the country and peoples interest wherby to avoid the notion of suspicious motives
Any laws so designed must be directed to the full House of Parliament for debate having a yea or nay decision

  16. Correction- of ONE’S actions.

  17. On the issue of Clarke dual citizenship
No matter how many times the blp try to distract or deflect attention away
The issue lays soundly on when was Gline decision made and if he brought the matter fully documented to the House
Also attached to this problem is a question of allegiance
No man can serve two masters at one time
Which now begs the question of what was Gline thinking

  18. Question – what pronouncements did Jeff Cumberbatch make that would induce cussing?

I don’t recall his submissions being anything other than an interpretation of the law. Did he submit opinion articles on other issues? I would like to read them if he did.

  19. The political entertainment is priceless, the palace should be having a good laugh, i know i am, how could such dummies for politicians claim dog pedigree by using a slave system designed to permanently enslave their ancestors and mentally enslaved them, to try to run away from their slave past, by claiming pedigree……..hope they spent the last 24 hours looking at the lack of logic, only the DUMB Enuff would believe that utter shite….

also hope Sir Slave Title Shillary has had enuff time to see the lack of logic in his quest to have the descendants of slave masters rob Africa of resources to pay him reparations..50 billion mind you…. in his delusion to be head slave in a “civilization” of slave societies in the Caribbean…..😂🤣😂🤣

programmed to be dumb enuff and don’t even know it…

  20. iS MARA THOMPSON still a citizen of St Lucia?

  21. peterlawrencethompson Avatar
    peterlawrencethompson

    @Hal & @Mariposa,
There is no provision of the Barbados Constitution or any other law that prohibits a Barbadian person from full participation in national affairs, including holding any office in Government, if they are also a citizen of a second country.

It is Canadian law, not Barbadian, that prevents a Canadian citizen from holding a diplomatic post to Canada. The reason is simple: a diplomat posted to Canada has diplomatic immunity from Canadian law, but a Canadian citizen must be subject to Canadian law, therefore it is not permitted for a Canadian citizen to represent another country as a diplomat posted to Canada.

  22. @PLT

You, like @Quaker John, always pose your own questions and then set about answering them. I am no expert on the Barbados Constitution, and do not want to be. Deliberately misconstruing what people say is something you both share in common.
What I said, which you do not seem to understand, is that the law SHOULD prohibit people of dual nationality being members of our parliament. Read it again if you do not understand. I think the brains on BU call it comprehension.
In fact, I further said that should be clarified at the swearing in ceremony. What about that is about the Barbados Constitution and full participation in national affairs that you do not understand. It is a proposal, an idea.
You always say the obvious and pretend it is a rare insight.

    @Hal
I was not contradicting you. I understood perfectly well that you were talking about what should be. I was simply drawing your attention in a completely non-confrontational manner to what the current state if affairs is. I was indeed stating the obvious.

  24. peterlawrencethompson Avatar
    peterlawrencethompson

    @Hal
The other part of the obvious context is that when Guyana rewrote its constitution to become a republic the did put into law the prohibition against serving two masters.

  25. @PLT

Oh Peter. Is it your training? How about the old Soviet Union, what is the law there. Irrelevance, dear boy, total irrelevance. The issue, if you want a discussion, is: is it right to deny those with dual nationalities from sitting in our parliament?
In the UK you can have a library of passports and sit in our parliament, and House of Lords. Even the children of Russian spies. At one point Trinidad did not allow dual nationality, I believe that has now changed.
It is a perverse policy and one that should be outlawed. In re-writing its constitution, was that when Guyanese also banned its overseas citizens from voting.

  26. Ptl
    Please explain or interpret

    Please note that prior to June 2018, under the Constitution of Barbados on Disqualifications for membership of Assembly, Section 44. (1) a) STATES No person shall be qualified to be elected as a member of the House of Assembly who is, by virtue of his own act, under any acknowledgement of allegiance, obedience or adherence to a foreign Power or State;

  27. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the citizenship of some candidates is unclear in the by-election. I don’t want to be a Birther, but we should definitely avoid a constitutional crisis. It would therefore be advisable that our Supreme Leader Mia Mottley, by virtue of her emergency powers, determines the succession to the empty parliamentary seat.

Since the severe issues of citizenship of the DLP candidates cannot be resolved so quickly, our beloved government should also postpone the next full parliamentary elections, let us say to 2025.

  28. Another Consultant

Trinidadian economist and former senior at CDB Justin Ram has been hired by the Prime Minister as a Consultant to her office at a cost of $27,000 per month effective Nov 01, 2020. None us taxpayers have been told why this is necessary and if we asked, as usual we would be dismissed.

Bajans have a right to know how many Consultants have been retained by the public service since June 2018, their duties and compensation.

Meanwhile unemployment is nearly 40%, cost of living increased, social services decreased. The only sector with 100% employment are the MPs – 95% of whom are Ministers and the others as legal advisors, Chairmen of Boards or Special Envoys on Reparations and Issues of the Disabled.

This additional $27,000 per month burden could go a long way in helping to ease the pain of many families here including in St George North. The BWU and the NUPW have prostituted themselves so they are no longer qualified to speak on behalf of the workers.

I am truly sick and tired of the shit happening here. It is as though no one cares about us. And please do not give me anymore excuses about the DLP of before.

    Very Disgruntled and Angry Bajan
    Copied

  29. @Mariposa

Is this true. I know she is arrogant and compulsive, but is she also made? Why is she behaving like this?

  30. Pacha…let’s sit back and watch them reap THE GRAPES OF WRATH…

Many remember when the likes of Kwame Toure et al were spreading Black power and African consciousness across the Caribbean in the 60s-70s etc, the likes of colonial house slaves Tom and Barrow, the enemies of Black/African people…. made them all persona non grata….they worked overtime to keep the colonial slave system intact for their masters and the dirty, no class nobodies for descendants of slave catchers…..now the new age house slaves are searching for dog pedigree to forget where they came from…..🤣🤣😂🤣😂…..that type of low vibration treachery is circular…. and has to be rewarded with Karma…

  31. mad….

  32. Hal yes
But you would not see it on BU
BU has become the govt mouthpiece and distractions

  33. @ Mariposa

Do we know how long the contract is for? How about the other consultants? What policies have they produced so far? What about White Oaks?
Are they still on the taxpayers’ pay roll? When these so-called experts made silly public statements, you must be careful they are not job applications.
The woman is brilliant. She is an even worse finance minister than Chris Sinckler, which is a miracle.

  34. MariposaOctober 28, 2020 12:52 PM

If so, I see no need. Clyde Mascoll and Mr.Greenidge are more than capable.

  35. At least they are not hiding the hiring of consultants. IF the pick-a-noise crew would read/watch more and talk less, they would be more truthful in their mouthings. They would also understand what and why. The need to lie is instructive. The difference between this government and the Dems is that in addition to the politics they take governing seriously and appear proactive and forward-thinking. No yachting consultants. Come next election and the government can’t justify their consultants, the electorate will decide. BU expertise is just that–fantasy.

  36. @enuff

You are suggesting Ram was brought in because of his expertise in the area of the environment?

  37. David
I am suggesting nothing. Contrary to what BUers think, I am no government insider or propagandist. I simply seek and state the truth.

  38. @enuff

Noted, be minded that BU sentiment often projects the wider views.

  39. … Contrary to what BUers think, I am no government insider or propagandist. I simply seek and state the truth…

State it enough times and it will be as good as truth right!? hahaha

Truth for the apparatchik is what The Party says it is. It is the Party’s version of events. It is Mugabe’s version of events.

  40. Dullard
    LMBAO y’all too funny.

  41. A more sobering thought is that the IMF requested that the finance ministry be bolstered up, because of the current crisis.

That is actually the one scenario that makes sense. The PM is smart, she would not do unnecessarily.

  42. @ Enuff October 28, 2020 4:46 PM

Are you implying that the current cadre of economists on the consultancy payroll are not up to the task?

What about the stable of underutilized economists already on hand in the Ministry of Economic Affairs?

Any move to hire more ‘consulting’ economists can be seen only as an admission
that the two ‘highly-trained’ economists ‘employed as ministers do not worth what Paddy shot at.

This is simply a checkers game of wasting scarce taxpayers’ money in replacing one bullshit-talking slicked-back hair common man with another shite-talker while Bridgetown turns into a cesspool of filth, vermin and economic decay.

A straightforward case of Tweedle Bee replacing Tweedle Dem to pillage the Treasury and rape taxpayers; or as the French would state:

“Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose”

  43. David
I didn’t even know Ram is a UCL and LSE graduate. Man that gine cause Hal Austin to seethe even more. Divide 81 by 5+ and tell me the answer.🤣🤣

  44. Enuff total all the consultants salaries and see if that money wouldn’t be enough to feed hungry families in SGN
Dont understand why govt have pumped so much money in the hands of outside consultants when the pressing issues of poverty is hitting govt right in the face
Environmentalist isnt necessary to tell govt to clean up the toxic dump site
Looks like whenever Floyd opens his mouth and criticize govt they jump from frying pan into the fire
Hence before cat can lick tongue govt finds an outsider as consultant for the environment

  45. @Miller

    Economists specialize.

    @Crusoe

    You making sense.

  46. Economists specialize.

Man stop with the fawning do. How much specialisation is needed in a 2×3 island with a one-legged economy? Wunna plan to have 2-3 “economists” (whatever those are) in evry ministry?
Wunnuh too like to mimic what wunna see overseas. How many consultants/ advisors/ csars does the gov’t need? Miller is correct:

This is simply a checkers game of wasting scarce taxpayers’ money in replacing one bullshit-talking slicked-back hair common man with another shite-talker while Bridgetown turns into a cesspool of filth, vermin and economic decay.

  47. So what’s new with the Black sell outs in Barbados, they are just being their usual no good selves.

    https://barbadostoday.bb/2020/10/29/but-accuses-authorities-of-leaving-buildings-and-infrastructure-in-poor-condition/

“Government ministries responsible for education, public works and healthcare have all come under heavy fire from the country’s largest teachers’ union for an apparent neglect of infrastructure that could have serious implications on the health and wellbeing of educators.”

  48. I had a friend, sadly no longer with us, a Guyanese Chinese, who did a good economics degree at UCL. He went up on unpaid leave from London Transport, where he was a train guard, and on his return he was made a so-called revenue inspector. ie travelling on trains checking passenger tickets.
London Transport treated him as just another N-word (he identified as Caribbean) so there was no need to promote him him on to the executive team.
An economics degree in little Barbados may seem the height of achievement, in other societies it does not. It depends on your knowledge, not a bit of paper.

  49. Tell this to the disconnected house slaves in the parliament who are going around in circles trying to escape their past by looking for dog pedigrees….they will still be searching long after THEY ARE ALL GONE…

  50. Never heard about a Soco hotel before, but this is the practice promoted against the people and encouraged by the anti-black, pro-slavery useless governments in Barbados…and if it’s that repulsive house negro Raph Taylor, no one is surprised.

    “Injustices Barbados
    tftasOSctpobherfu 2f7g oaltuns o7otlocr:on06fgg PedtM ·
We are in receipt of information relative to the Soco Hotel. Staff members are complaining that not only have their working hours been cut but the hourly rate as well. According to labour law is it not supposed to be one or the other? What is of utmost importance is that staff are also saying that the management is not following the Covid protocols. They are saying the guests are allowed to use the restaurant and peruse the property before taking the 2nd PCR test. Even use the pool. Not only that but there are claims that there are no hand sanitizers. Staff is claiming that their NIS has not been paid for a very long time and they too need to be paid. Calls to Messrs Taylor and Scott have gone unanswered.”
