The unemployment situation in St George North is dreadful.  Disappointing voters with false promises is not an option in this by-election.  Candidates must offer workable plans, to effectively address the mass unemployment problems in St George North.

There are six candidates seeking to work for the people of St George North, for the next 30 months.   It is important that none of us follow the bad examples of those who have gone before us.

Candidates who plan to use the desperate unemployed people of St George North as pawns, just to secure a seat in the House of Assembly for their party, are doing the unconscionable.  They are ensuring that the people continue to suffer, during these exceptionally difficult times.  The present suffering is compounded by an unnecessary IMF austerity program, and a global COVID-19 pandemic.

Candidates who make promises that they know they cannot keep, are deceiving voters’ families.  Candidates who know that they have no capacity to implement their party’s plans, push that deceit beyond tolerable levels.

Career politicians have repeatedly broken their promises to previous generations of voters.  Those voters had the patience to tolerate and forgive those, who repeatedly deceived them with empty promises.
The current generation of young voters are different – they will not forgive that type of deceit.  Candidates without any workable economic plans for the families of St George North, are playing with fire.

    The Opposition parties have a legitimate case to be made for SGN to vote anti government but they must articulate a rational position, not the BS we have been hearing to date. The DLP especially is well placed given its residual ‘popularity’, however the same old faces and tired political lines will not help.

    this election is local and that is how it will be won.     The DLP must employ tactics for success. It is a party that was humbled in 2018 and even now there are legitimate questions to be asked about its readiness. Bear in mind Opposition parties usually win based on a default position in Barbados.

    What I do think is that the BLP supporters in St George North should vote for the DLP, however loyal; such a vote would not affect the BLP control of parliament, but it would send a message to the president that she is out of favour.

    i dont understand exactly what you are trying to convey there.

    but were i in the DLP think tank i would use this election as a barometer as to how the public, at least the public in SGN, view the BLP. therefore i would not be putting out any specifics or if it must, speak in generalities as to how it would govern. you dont want to show your hand too early given what may attend us as a result of the fall out from Covid.

    such specifics as to how it will govern should be well thought out and laid out notwithstanding changing local and international conditionalities by getting together a coterie of economists, social scientists, criminologists, unionists, credits unionists, farmers, ordinary folks etc.. when that is finished Verla should brief all potential candidates about the DLP platform for national and local governance and on how it the DLP intends to go about articulating and disseminating its platform to the general public. this should be accomplished by a year prior to the general election. altho there is a possibility of a snap election. so Verla should start now.

    this is how the DLP should go about its business- in a professional and step by step approach.

    this election is a kind of referendum on the BLP thus far. it feels to me that MAM and the BLP are surprised by the opposition as are the DLP and the other opposition themselves. i dont think any of them expected the BLP to be so defensive given its general popularity coming off an overwhelming general election victory and the goodwill that Clarke has built up in the constituency. it doesnt seem to have redound to Moore, at least from what i have read

    Please remind me about CoVid. I remember asking for our epidemiological model to be made public. Last time I checked Mottley was not a public health expert, an epidemiologist or a medical scientist. I also said that Santia Bradshaw’s presentations were far better than Ms Mottley’s, and they were.
    Has White Oak reached a full and final settlement with our external creditors? If so, plse cut and paste that result. Last December it was said that White Oak had reached a provisional settlement. I know English is a foreign language to you, but there is a difference between provisional and full and final.
    As to your ignorance about Mr Knowall, I have never said on BU about being clever or highly qualified. In fact, on the contrary; I have told the truth that I can hardly write my name, like you.
    I have always found it interesting that some BU regulars have always found education a challenge. One fool even calls me a polymath, as a form of insult.

    Firstly, I NEVER, EVER REFERRED to any INDIVIDUAL in this forum, as “an independent financial advisor. That’s LIE #1.

    I admitted referring to a particular individual as a ‘financial advisor,’ which he denied, and explained in the UK it’s against the law for anyone without the requisite qualifications and authority to so identify themselves.

    In response, I ‘said’ I misinterpreted information that led me to believe the individual was an INSURANCE SALESMAN…… and EXPLAINED, in Barbados, those guys usually identify themselves as ‘financial advisors.’ I also explained I used term within in that context and NOT to identify someone who provides professional financial services to clients. I ACCEPTED his explanation and MOVED ON.

    For them to mention today re: “and even after correction, continued with the nonsense for a period after,” is LIE #2.

    Secondly, approximately two weeks ago, they referred to this same issue AGAIN. I responded by once again explaining the context in which I used the term ‘financial advisor,’ and admitted to moving on after they offered his explanation.

    I THOUGH THAT WAS OVER AND DONE WITH, but it seems as though the individual held a séance to resurrect what I thought was a ‘dead issue.’ From the way how they have kept going, and going and going (‘Energizer bunny style’), with this nonsense, one would never believe this simple issue happened ALMOST FOUR (4) YEARS AGO.

    Unfortunately, however, it’s CLEAR ‘moving on’ seems to be an EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TASK for him, because, ever so often, he KEEPS REFERRING to it, which is somewhat JUVENILE, and more so for anyone, according to Bajan vernacular, to ‘hold a grudge’ or ‘hold people in mind,’ over nonsense for so many years.

    GIVE IT A REST!!!!!!

    Misinterpreted information from where? There is no information in this world that could ever suggest or hint at or imply that I have ever worked as an insurance salesman, in Barbados, UK or on Mars, or ever expressed in interest in any such position. It is the danger of Google, and of taking similar names and making false assumptions. There is no context for a fabrication.
