The FBI is investigating the death of George Floyd, black man who was pinned on the neck by a police officer and later died in custody. Minnesota’s Attorney General Keith Ellison joins The Beat with Ari Melber’s breaking coverage on the latest from the FBI and the protests. While the officers involved have yet to be charged, Ellison argues a “quick arrest” might “make people feel better about justice” it is “important” for investigators to “take the time to make sure that these charges, if they are brought forward, stick.

    They are each accomplished professionals with both American and Canadian citizenship who choose to live in Canada because it is a bit less racist than the USA.

    Quite true! We do need to clean up our own backyard and some of us are trying to do that in various ways because though we are concerned and troubled we are not yet desperate.

    But the events in the USA will always draw one to watch like a moth to a flame. And one will comment.

    If I were an immigrant in the US I would not march for a thing. If you leave your country to immigrate there and you don’t like it you should return home.     The Democrats are not the majority they would have people think, they are a minority.

    They have to make trouble to try to undermine the majority.

    So the answer is quite simple for black people.

    Either move to any of the other jurisdictions not controlled by the Democrats, or vote the Democrats out in November.

    Simplicity itself.

    No guns or violence necessary, just a studied application of common sense.

    Biden’s outburst about any one supporting Trump not being black is pretty clear evidence that the Democrats are agitated.

    It is a real shame that people on this blog will state that “All lives matter” to reduce the significance of these riots. Well if “all lives matter” how we got to a point where people (the VAST majority being Blacks) are rioting in the USA. Why are not the Japanese, Jews, Indians, North America Indians not rioting as a people. Why is the USA losing its image of the “peechy keen, luvy duvy rainbow republic”
    It is largely due to “Trump’s America”. “Trump’s America” is bring up specters of “Jim Crow America”. In “Jim Crow America” it was the NORM to trade postcards and stamps portraying black lynchings. In “Jim Crow America” lynch mobs were a regular occurrence in a country when the Blacks were “supposed to be free”. Where the KKK is not declared a terrorist organisation. Where blacks had to go to “the back of the bus”. The only countries that were just as or more racist than “Jim Crow America” was Nazi Germany and Apartheid South Africa. What was the fate of these countries? people had to “BURN THEM TO THE GROUND”. Those countries became ANACHRONISMS in a modern world.
    Why is “Trumps America” so AGGRESSIVE to China and don’t tell me about COVID-19 because he is using it as a convenient front. Trump was aggressive to China from the beginning of his presidency because China is the biggest non-white economy that is threatening the USA. Why is he withdrawing from the WHO (that is now headed by a Black Ethiopian) when he didn’t care before 2020 that China was so-called “bribing” the WHO. Why did President Trump call the (mostly) blacks rioters “thugs” but calls a protest involving White Nationalists “fine people”. Why did he tell an ethnic Chinese reporter to go “ask China” then abruptly ends that press conference.
    George Floyd case cannot be viewed in isolation or be isolated from a LOOOONG history of violence and discrimination against Blacks in the USA. All lives DO MATTER, All lives SUPPOSED to matter however in “Trump’s America” there is slowly a bias as to “Which Lives Matter”. That bias is away from Blacks.

    I tell my son to be careful in any dealings with the police, but I also hope that I instilled in him the courage to fight and correct what is wrong. I hope that he does much more than eat and shit.

    It is sad that you have to try so hard to be stupid. I will give you a short introduction to Black People 101.

    In Anglo American culture “Black people” is a social construction with deep historical roots. Contemporarily, they are the descendents of those who were defined as Negroes by “An Act for the Better Ordering and Governing of Negroes” passed by the Barbados legislature in 1661, and propagated throughout the British colonial empire by copycat legislation in South Carolina, Virginia and elsewhere.

    As you can see, from a sociological and jurisprudence perspective, “Black people” were invented by the British right here in Barbados. Does that not make you proud??

    THESE EMAILS ARE PARTY FOCUSSED. BUT TELL LITTLE ABOUT THE CANDIDATE OR HOW THEY WILL HELP.

    I CANT SAY HOW THEY APPROACH FOLK IN THE POORER AREAS OF THIS CITY.

    THERE IS A LOT THAT YOU FOLK DONT KNOW BUT THERE IS MUCH MERIT IN WHAT JOHN SAYS AT 1:44 PM

    @LyallS… although it’s not an original operational dictum from Ms Conway, the John blogger and all like him originate their verbiage from her bold claim of ‘alternative facts’.

    This was done throughout history and generally called ‘disinformation’, ‘false flags’, ‘counter-intelligence modelling’ and so on… but they have taken it to a bold new level: ‘…lies are good, regular lying is better, provocatively twisting facts into regular lying is best’!

    It takes an entirely superior class of human to determine that the Blue states have more racially motivated disputes/killings… when across the entire deep-south of the US there was/is rampant, racial death and destruction done by cops on duty, cops off-duty in their other jobs as KKK agitators or just other citizens than anywhere else.

    But of course that brilliantly bright man will say that the racists were Blue-Dems then … and dismiss that the ENTIRE group of blue-racists moved lock, stock and gun barrel to the red Repubs when the Dems ‘found’ meaning to pass Civil Rights Legislation.

Other races have been discriminated against and had a less than rosy past in the USA but not as systemized, institutionalized and as violent as against Blacks. The riots are a result of it.

    “John” never disappoints it was only a matter of time before he came up with an angle to justify the killing of Black people by Police in the US. In his view you are likely to be killed by Police if you live in a so called “blue” State. His reasoning is a little more complex than the one he attributed Trayvon Martin’s murder to in that scenario he wrote that Trayvon didn’t belong in that neighbourhood.

    His piece is riddled with errors, when did Florida turn blue? Kentucky and Ohio blue? The list goes on but perhaps the incidents in so called “red” States are covered up and don’t see the light of day e.g. Armaud Arbery’s (Georgia) case was tied up with a nice bow by three prosecutors until the stupid cracker who videotaped the murder released it to the public. Note it was in the hands of three prosecutors who thought that the actions of the good old boys were lawful; Walter Scott’s demise didn’t cause any ripples until the video was released, as Will Smith said “Racism isn’t getting worse it’s getting filmed”.

    That is the reason so many Police authorities are opposed to wearing body cameras.

    In Anglo American culture “Black people” is a social construction with deep historical roots.     As you can see, from a sociological and jurisprudence perspective, “Black people” were invented by the British right here in Barbados. Does that not make you proud??

    Yesterday, I asked Waru why the Africa Union and CARICOM have refused to issue a joint statement condemning the racism of the USA police force. We are a weak people. Our leaders remain as silent witnesses as they observe from a far the systemic and structural racism practised against the African diaspora who reside in countries such as the USA.

    We love to beg these sovereign countries for money; and bend over regularly to offer them financial incentives to come to our region as tourists. Our leaders and by extension the native population are a bunch of spineless spectators.

    The government of Barbados does not even offer travel advisories to black male Bajans who travel to the states.

    You must learn to read. I told you that it was propagated throughout the British colonial empire, including Africa. Before the British showed up African people were simply human beings, not negroes, not Blacks. The further identified as Shona, or Ndabele, or other national group, but it was the colonizers who blessed us with the culturally constructed notion of “Negroes” which evolved linguistically into “Black people”.

    Your lucky the was no test at the end of that rudimentary lesson. You would have failed.
