“In the criminal justice system
treasonous offenses are considered especially heinous.
In Barbados, the dedicated detectives who investigate these
vicious felonies are members of an elite squad
known as the Task Force.
This must be one of their stories.”
Adapted from Law and Order

If Barbados was a properly functioning democracy, in light of the revelation on the front page of The Sunday Sun 4th March, 2018, that the Four Seasons property had been sold to Jada Construction; the Attorney General of Barbados would have announced and held a press conference the next day to inform all Barbadians that he would be investigating this matter. We have not heard a squeak from him and the entire Democratic Labour Party is silent. This is such a grave matter that even though Parliament has dissolved one would have expected him to say something.

The matter in which Jada Construction now holds the conveyance for the Four Seasons Property is not an allegation. By now, the entire island has seen the front page of the conveyance document on the front page of the Sunday sun and most likely seen and read the entire document that was featured on the Barbados Underground two weeks previously on February 20, 2018. There is therefore physical evidence for the entire world to see.

The property was conveyed to Jada Construction on December 19th, 2014 and received and recorded at the Land Registry on March 10th 2015. They are several attorneys at law whose names are on this document and therefore are familiar with the particulars of the conveyance and or sale of the property. Namely, M. Adrian King of Inn Chambers , Lucas street Bridgetown, Annette Yvonne Linton of Briar Hall in Christ Church and Theodore David Gittens of the Rock, St. Peter.

Attorney General is responsible to the Crown, the Courts, the legislature, the executive branch of government but his constitutional responsibility is beyond that of a political minister.

This is the man whose duty among others it is to uphold to Constitution of Barbados, to create laws when they are lacking and to prevent over reach when laws are found to be infringing on the rights of citizens. He is supposed to uphold the conscience of the land that determines what is right from what is wrong. He is also the guardian of the public interest and that includes all tax payers of Barbados.

It leads one to believe that this man never understood what his role is and therefore he could never function in it. His action or lack of action in this matter would not surprise many due to his lack luster performance during his entire tenure of Attorney General. Adriel Brathwaite should have stamped his authority as attorney general with the Integrity Legislation and the Freedom of Information Act to instill the required behaviors of all parliamentarians if they were lacking and reinforcing that they were not above the law. Alas, there has been no accountability or transparency on his watch.

If this was done, he would have been in a position to have demanded the resignation of the Speaker of the House, Michael Carrington when he stole the funds of a wheel chair bound pensioner. He would have insisted Michael Lashley, the then Minister of Housing be fired when it was discovered that he had purposely relayed incorrect information from the Cabinet as well as deliberately altered communication from the Cabinet.

Yet Mr. Brathwaite stood up to justify why a police officer who with intent shot and killed a man was allowed bail. We therefore know that he knows how to selectively use his voice.

His position as Attorney General makes him more than complicit to the sale if he says or does nothing about it. Both the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Tourism are on record providing information which was futurist in nature of a pending sale when the conveyance and or sale had taken place three years previously.

Although Mr. Brathwaite swore an oath to become the Attorney General and uphold the Constitution of Barbados, his actions or lack thereof speaks otherwise. It tells us that he believes that politicians are above the law; that there is one law for the Greeks and another for the Medes. Given this track record, he would have to be a man without a conscience when he asks the people of St. Philip to reelect him again because he has done nothing to uphold Constitution especially with regard to the matter at hand.

Then there is the matter of the missing money, $US60m which the government borrowed from the NIS to repay the ANSA Mcal loan when it was called and now the $US 60m that is mentioned on the Conveyance that Jada Construction now has in its possession. No record can be found of the tender for the sale of the property neither was it advertised in the local press. Hence there has been a breech in the financial rules of the government of Barbados. Neither of these two sums of money has been accounted for at the NIS or in the case of the latter as having entered the Treasury or was reported as revenue earned in the estimates of 2015, 2016 or 2017. However, the latter was recorded by the Auditor General as a receivable in one of his recent reports.

By default, the Attorney General is guilty of dereliction of his duties. The Minister of Finance has lied to Parliament and denied the transaction when the press asked him about it; the Minister of Tourism also lied to the people of Barbados. In my opinion both of them have implicated themselves in this matter of funds missing from the public purse. The people have seen tangible evidence of a conveyance and the Democratic Labour Party Administration is deadly silent. This matter can only be classified as treason because they have betrayed the country. In another time, those guilty of such crimes would be hung, beheaded or quartered. In today’s terms one can easily justify a 25 years to life sentence.

Whatever Mia et al did in the early to mid 2000s is thr ruling party is not important to the last 10 years, the existing corruption laws were never enforced against the previous government by this government for corruption, because they know what they planned to do all along….as it stands, they cannot prosecute Mia et al now, they have run out of time.

But with all that evidence presently available, Mia can enforce existing corruption laws and have the new attorney general, DPP and police commissioner act on it….pursue prosecution of outgoing government ministers….should she be elected.

There is absolutely no need for a thiefing commission of enquiry to fatten lawyers.

  2. The political class is as one. Have you visited the mess hall in parliament or that bar/restaurant down the west coast to see them all cracking a joke and drinking ‘together’?

Everyone always see the politicians from both sides of the divide yakking it up together, the best of friends and family while pretending to be enemies for the benefit of their dumb, emptyheaded yardfowls.

More urgently, how will 10 years of fiscal mismanagement by this government translate to generating 12 weeks of forex in less than 90 days time, or before election is called.

I guess Bajans wont take it seriously until supermarket shelves start going bare, then they will realize they should be planting their own food.

    This I gotta see.

“The Freundel Stuart administration is in danger of losing control of the BD$2 to US$1 exchange rate, says former Central Bank Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell.

He argues this was likely if Government continues to spend more than it earns, as it has been doing for much of the last decade.

“The Central Bank’s foreign reserves continue to be in free fall, with the failure of Government’s corrective strategy. The current costs of Government operations exceeded revenues by $288 million between April and December last year, and Central Bank’s lending to the public sector increased by $372 million during the year. Unless this gap is closed foreign reserves (forex) will be exhausted and Government will lose control of the exchange rate,” Worrell warned in his March Economic Letter released this week.

Barbados’ economy needs an adequate amount of forex – 12 weeks of imports being the benchmark – to enhance confidence in the stability of Government’s monetary policies and to protect our exchange rate. Without it we would be unable to comfortably pay our international debts, buy oil to power the country, food, essential medicines and equipment, and defend our BD$2 to US$1 currency peg.”

So the turncoat hypocrite is now squealing like a stuck pig? What a laugh!

It took him 5 years of cooking the foreign reserves books and massaging the economic data for his former master’s political chicanery to come to the Christian understanding that whatever his former administration did in the dark must come out in the light of time.

It would be most interesting to hear the views of your limey friend Ha Ha Austin on this dire warning issued by the ex-guv Worrell regarding the state of the country’s foreign reserves.

Please Massa Fumble, please stay on as long as you want to. Let the forex reserves evaporate while you perform a Nero fiddling your way to the bitter end while your country’s economy burns in a hellhole of sewage.

  6. In this general election season, is it time to look beyond the narrow confines of Barbados and see how the global (and regional) economies are shaping up.
Only today President Trump has signed in to law his threat to impose a 25 per cent tariff on steel and 10 on aluminium.
This is interesting in two ways since two of our closest Caricom partners (Guyana and Jamaica) are raw bauxite producers. Will this impact positively on their economies since many of the US manufacturers will be in need of extra commodities?
He has also excluded Canada and Mexico from the new tax, and with Canada being the US main trading partner will this new tariff be a damp squib?
In terms of the Barbados economy, it is almost certain that the Chinese write in to their economic development loans to the nation a supply clause, which means that steel and other materials must come from China.
Would this be the same in Jamaica or Guyana and if so will this put these Caribbean nations at the centre of a new trade war?
I am worried about social peace. Already former central bank governor DeLisle Worrell is calling for more public sector redundancies which, in an already over-stretched employment market, has the potential for a breakdown of the social order.
It looks as if the Chinese have observed this potential, which may explain their recent ‘gifts’ of military equipment to the defence force.
Dr Worrell is also right about one other development (even if his claims about foreign reserves are unsubstantiated and form part of the orthodoxy of Barbadian economic thinking); monetary policy has failed – big time.
With an over-supply of hotel rooms (Four Seasons, Sam Lord’s, Hilton, Hyatt, etc) and an over-dependence on tourism – mainly long-haul, but also short breaks from neighbouring islands – is to ignore how other target economies are performing.
At present global economies are enjoying a synchronised period of growth, led by the US, but with India, China and the European Union also going through a period of spring growth. Australia, not often talked about, has had 26 consecutive years of growth, much of it based on Chinese demands for commodities, which could lead to localised and globalised shocks. This could spell danger.
Now we see a tremendous growth in emerging market debt; why is Barbados missing out on this cheap money? Maybe Dr Worrell has some answer.
All in all, the parties vying for control of the government is remaining silent on how best to manage the economy, with the exception of Solutions Barbados, which believes that ISO9001 is the magic wand. The UPP’s so-called creative economy is ill-thought out and unworkable. We will see.

MAM lives rent free in that woman’s head……….but her days are numbered at CBC and David Ellis did not seem keen on welcoming her back down by the Riverside when a caller asked him if she will come back after the elections.

A VOB caller apparently went on a rant about her on FB and she is so powerful at CBC that she hurled a crew down to Almond Bay (meanwhile the duly elected Opposition cannot get a second on CBC)……….she held up her qualifications to the camera and told MAM to show the public her LEC.

She has a problem with a caller who used to be a dlp supporter and she wants MAM to denounce the man………..what the hell this got to do with MAM? Just think how delusional this woman is that she thinks she is in MAM’s league.

  20. Meanwhile, the BWA has managed to control the sewage flowing down by lanterns but now, it has opened up in the Chicken Barn area again…….I saw the flow bubbling up and flowing from the manhole just above Chicken Barn and all in the back of those buildings there is an overflow. The authorities were fogging as well.

So the problem has now moved from Lanterns to upper Worthing.

  21. Prodigal,

The truth is that they have NO foreign currency anymore to fix the sewage system. I asked a foreign company about the present case. They told me it takes 2 months to do the fix and another 2 to repair the roads, if you 1) have the plans of the sewage system, 2) if you take 20 foreign workers + supervisors + fly in parts and drilling machines. They also calculated the costs for an emergency service from abroad.

The ruling elite must maintain the illusion that Barbados did NOT already run out of forex at ANY cost. Every USD left is pumped into the supermarkets to calm down the clueless masses. Saw a big area of the parking lot was taped off with yellow tape surrounding a big puddle of smelly water a short while later saw a pooper pumper truck arrive and start to set up. The manhole just in front of the Massy main entrance was bubbling away and a sewage puddle had formed in the road right in front the entrance. The whole parking lot smelled stink, stink.

  24. Fractured,

    Greetings from Tripadvisor:

“We are now in 2018, there’s an election soon, a government will be elected, they will have to deal with this. There are loan agreements being developed and even if signed to-day there will be RFP’s, RFQ’s etc that will have to be developed. The bidding process put in place, a choice made and the work to commence. This at it’s quickest will take almost a year from today. Then the work has to be done, which will take how long? Depending on what’s decided.

So write off 2018, most of 2019 so nothing is completed before 2020.

You might have a point regarding the kind of Chinese aid being accepted by the modern-day house slaves selling out their own kith and kin.

But to expect the Chinese to bail Bajans out of their home-made pit toilet is like asking the white man to promote ‘Black Power’ or the return of the lands stolen over the last 500 years from Native Americans or Aborigines in Anzac.

The easiest way of controlling a people and taking over their lands and resources is to destroy both their health and culture.

Suppose the rain is pouring; or you are in a dark and lonely road at 9 p.m or your car has a flat or you run out of gas….should the driver risk his/her life by getting out? Over 30 countries implemented Cell phone laws and Barbados carries the highest fines $2,000.00 while or Caribbean counterpart like Trinidad is only $225.00. As a matter of fact, the highest is Argentina and Bermuda who carry $500.00. Unfortunately, the RBPF who have no alternative but to uphold the law even under protest. This is what you call Fake decision.

Stupidity by a police spokesperson who had no clue what he was speaking about, as is being shared on social media, a bluetooth connection costs no more then $160 bds, connect it to your phone, hook it up to your cars visor or where ever, you do not need to get out of your car to make a call.

This cellphone brouhaha is being used as a distraction away from the real issues that everyone should be focused on, the thieves in and out of parliament who are robbing the people…the missing pensioners and taxpayer’s money.

    Well well & Miller

    90 days is 90 days !

No one in Barbados 🇧🇧 rioting or is about to riot ……according to intelligence gathered by the RBPF or BDF !!

So Barbadians are patiently waiting for His Majesty King 👑 Freundel Jerome Stuart to announce the General Elections date !!

But no one – besides the usual BU noisemakers – are showing impatience !!

The Barbados Lottery on more than one occasion had the experience of CLAIMANTS not collecting their prizes during the 90 day period !!

Then had to place the prizes back in the lottery pool !!

So Bajans – in the main – are not bothered about 90 days !!!! They the time will come !!!

How the BLPites ain’t know that. ????

  42. Three more pay days Fractured, three more pay days is all that’s left. The greedy bastards want every last cent they can milk out of the treasury. I hope they burn in hell with the money.

  43. Fractured: I prefer not to get into discussion with people who divert from reality and focus on insulting people. Everyone have views including you, but you cannot control others who don’t sing from your hymn sheet. People are only interested in knowing when elections will be call. These people are DLP’s; BLP’s; UPP’s; Solutions; and the others.. the more BS you write, the further the electorate will move away from the party.

    Tell me why

The elections will come when His Majesty calls them !

Barbados have no set Elections date !

They called when the PM decides …..and he has broken no law !

How can you defend this moronic, crooked Stuart DLP? I mean, I supported the DEMs all my voting life until Freundel Stuart and the get ban showed Barbadians what tyranny looks like. The man does not even address Barbadians directly, but talk all his shite at over and away events. Surely, you cannot be a blind supporter unless you getting bittle. I find when people are diehard supporters, it is because of something or some money they received that make them loyal to the bone. You sound like a sensible person. Tell me, what will make you so devoted to these crooked cunts if you are not on the take.

Let your Majesty Lord King Fumble take as long as he likes.

Let him unreel his line of constant abuse and disrespect by flying his kite in the electorate’s face.

But time is longer than twine; and we know you are quite familiar with that saying as you can see it being played out on the South coast.

Let the king of clowns continue with his feckless cat and mouse game with the electorate with the full knowledge he has already determined a date for elections while ‘toying’ with educated Bajans like little children as he did in 2012 (??) with the innocent schoolboy who saw the date written in Rosetta stone hieroglyphics and peeping out the King’s royal backside.

But there is one date your Royal C**nt can’t postpone. That is the date with the foreign reserves destiny.

Time has run out for that game of bullshit so ably practiced by the former Guv Deliar who is now singing like a canary escaped from his cage at Dodds prisons after 7 years of incarceration for blaming the falling reserves on the mortgage taken out on that same social investment in the future of social unrest as a result of what is ahead when the forex becomes like platinum on a puny coral island like Barbados.

Soon the Guyanese will buy up Barbados, rename Bridgetown “New Georgetown” and replace Nelson with Guyana Jones.

Oil is coming in 2020. They will sell gas for 1 BBD at the station and drive fully loaded Ford F-150, whereas Barbadians will pay 4 BBD or more at the station and drive Toyota Yaris India Edition.

It is time to say goodbye.

  50. Great post miller………

The great PM pretender has boxed himself in and there is no wriggle room………never mind the ignorance posted here on BU……….

One thing of which we are certain he HAS to call the election…….he is out of time. Whatever three week combination he wants to go with……..it has to be by June 5th……..

    At this late stage……..

Why is this man still clinging to power?
What does this man still want to do that he has not done? He told us he was asleep.

Nothing the PM or the DLP now do bothers me……….he has to call the election and I hope that the constitution is amended so that Barbados is never held to ransom ever again.
