  1. These British idiots still writing terse letters like this as a stand-in for ‘filed in file 13’.

Since he’s the chairman does he have nothing substantive to say.

This chairman could have been living 200 years ago and nothing would be different.

  3. Cannot even acknowledge correctly a letter

  4. Now that we have an acknowledgement, we look forward to a substantive response and action taken.

It is a matter of public record.

  5. @Pacha

It is protocol -the letter has to be vetted by legal, an opinion rendered and the matter forwarded to the PS and minister, finally the Board. It will take months probably to exact a response.

Calling the inept snivel service and statutory corporation bureaucrats who currently run this country ‘British’ is an insult to a great nation we should be begging to take us back.

50 years of effort and struggle destroyed in 8.

Interesting article by Boos today. It’s more interesting that St. Lucia went into tax and budget consultation with E&Y immediately after their last election and announced last week a reduction in VAT to stimulate the economy. Immediate effect of electing a businessman with proven finance and management track record as prime minister.

Meanwhile our clowns butt aimlessly from pillar to post dragging us deeper into the hole every day. We haven’t hit bottom yet, maybe mid-2017.

There will be no recovery of SSA or anything else under Fumble’s Fools.

  7. The letter is long-winded but it is a common feature of correspondence from any Government department. It is unnecessary to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Comissiong’s letter – because it is obvious that the SSA received the letter – if the SSA has replied to it.

It is also unnecessary for Ms Harvey to say “I write in my capacity as the Chairman of the SSA Board” – when the job title after her signature indicates that the Chairman of the SSA Board wrote the letter.

I would suggest saying something along the lines of “Thank you for your letter dated 22/10/16. I hope to reply to your letter before 7/12/16”.

That comment in and of itself is an insult to the ancestors of slaves, a direct insult to those who fought slavery for freedom, and an even bigger insult to intelligent black people…..you will certainly be taken BACK….so you can enrich cruel savages again.

There is nothing great about an island in the middle of the atlantic with savages whose ancestors are known as slave masters, thieves, killers, rapists, savages and liars…, that is a fallacy and really too early for the pretense and false statements to be put out there, the younger generation know much better Frustrated.

People like you would have us believe that BDS was created in 1966 by EWB. You would also have us believe that BDS was created entirely by the suffering of African slaves, when in fact BDS is the product of adventurous (and often desperate) sea-farers, marine transport speculators, exiled Irish and Scott POWs, exiled Saphardic Jew merchants, enslaved Irish, enslaved blacks, white slave-owners, black slave-owners, exiled Charles-supporting Parliamentarians, exiled British civil servants and everyone else who suffered life on this horrible rock for 350 difficult years and busted their asses daily because they mostly had no alternative.

  19. Might be best to skip asking those efficient Brits for any advice on our planned airport improvement project to get underway next year.

    A Tale of Two Airports
    by Craig Murray

The folly involved in the United Kingdom continuing to cling on to tiny relics of Empire is underlined by considering two airports. Firstly we have St Helena, where DFID have famously wasted £250 million of taxpayers’ money on an airport which cannot be used because of wind shear.

Private Eye is having some fun at DFID’s expense, on the back of Tory MP Stephen Phillips pointing out that Darwin had described the wind shear well over a century ago. Here is the full passage from Darwin:

“The only inconvenience I suffered during my walks was from the impetuous winds. One day I noticed a curious circumstance; standing on the edge of a plain, terminated by a great cliff of about a thousand feet in depth, I saw at the distance of a few yards right to windward, some tern, struggling against a very strong breeze, whilst, where I stood, the air was quite calm. Approaching close to the brink, where the current seemed to be deflected upwards from the face of the cliff, I stretched out my arm, and immediately felt the full force of the wind: an invisible barrier, two yards in width, separated perfectly calm air from a strong blast.” (from Chapter 21 of The Voyage of the Beagle)

Why is this not in the local news in Barbados.

Sir Hillary: European Leaders Singing From The Same Hymn Sheet On Reparations
    Written by Ken Richards
    Category: Local
    Published: 15 November 2016
    Hits: 22

“St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Britain has never been able to settle comfortably in a European context and will do all it can to move away from the EU, according to UWI Vice Chancellor Sir Hillary Beckles.

He was commenting on a recent shock high court decision that is forcing Prime Minister Theresa May to let Britain’s parliamentarians vote on triggering the Brexit process.

WINN FM asked Sir Hillary about that matter, and how a UK move out of Europe could affect the Caribbean’s case for reparations for slavery from Britain and other European countries which benefited from the Trans Atlantic slave trade.

“When the Brexit was originally declared I gave a statement in which I said Britain has not been able to settle comfortably in a European context. In fact, Britain has always seen a threat to its nationalism with integrated Europe and I can assure you that if you can take a lesson from history the British are going to do their best willingly, or unwillingly, consciously subconsciously to see the disintegration of the European Union.”

The Vice Chancellor was asked to what extent does what is happening impact the Caribbean’s quest for reparations, he had this response.

“We’ve heard a statement from the French Prime Minister on his tour to Africa in which he said that the black people of Africa and the Caribbean must put our history behind us and move on. This is the same statement that Prime Minister Cameron gave in the Jamaican parliament earlier this year when he visited the Caribbean. All the European governments are singing from the hymn sheet. Their view is they will not be held accountable, they will not take responsibility and because of their economic and political power around the world, they believe that the rest of us must be intimidated into accepting their philosophy. That position is consistent with all we know with how they have conducted their international diplomacy and foreign affairs, so there were no surprises there we know that’s how they feel about it but you know what history shows, that when you have a just cause, when you have a right cause, you must press on because there always comes a time. We are going to press ahead, this is a movement that is over 200 years old, from the moment that slavery was abolished in the Caribbean, the African people in the Caribbean and the indigenous people have been saying where is our justice, where is our reparatory justice? The movement is getting larger and larger by generation, it’s now a global movement and the whole world has to take this on board. We believe that this is going to be the 21st century global movement, there will be no movement that will be as great and profound as the global reparatory justice movement.”

On Brexit specifically, reports from London say Prime Minister May could try and overturn the Brexit court ruling by claiming the triggering of Article 50 has no direct impact on British citizens’ rights.

Article 50 when triggered, will officially launch withdrawal talks.

A senior Government source revealed that lawyers are exploring whether the argument could give Ms May the edge to reverse the Court decision.

The line of argument relies on the notion of Britain’s “dualist” legal system – the idea that international law is not applicable in the UK until it is translated into national legislation.

If Prime Minister May’s lawyers can convince judges that triggering Article 50 of the EU Treaty is purely an international affair, that in isolation does not directly impact on British law, they can claim it does not impinge on British citizens’ rights and so does not require an Act of Parliament.

Meanwhile the UK’s overseas territories including those in the Caribbean are looking forward to special ministerial talks in early 2017 on Brexit negotiations before Article 50 is triggered.

The talks were agreed on at a recent Joint Ministerial Council in London.

British Virgin Islands Premier Orlando Smith has welcomed the coming negotiations between the UK government and the political leaders of the Overseas Territories.

Dr Smith says he is heartened that Britain is acknowledging the importance of the overseas territories having high-level engagement on Brexit negotiations which will affect the position of these territories.

Now how did grand old US of A become a white majority country?

But I agree that the “white” people owe zilch to black countries. To reiterate you position: “Nigeria, Jamaica and Congo….NOTHING….owes Africa nothing, owes the Caribbean nothing”.

But you must admit they (white America) owe a whole lot to the indigenous people of those now ‘united’ lands which were stolen through the white man diseases, mass murder and carnage of not only millions of nature loving people but also millions of sacred bison.

White America may not owe humanity anything but certainly it has a debt to pay to Karma and her sister Mother Nature.

A debt is owed to Caribbean people etc…it goes without saying and I believe it should be paid in education…

WW&C..My point, is your comments are racially inappropriate. I could easily have changed USA, to Canada or any other country where the majority of citizens are white, in my twisting of your comments

I was asking you to read the essence of your message. With different labels. You are focused on the belief your stated words are right. Not what they mean.

Because of your ethnic background and heritage you think your referring to elected Bajan politicians as slaves is tolerable because you “beat up” on them, as you do with nearly everybody. If I used the same language, even if I “beat up” on them, I would be branded racist? Referring to black people as slaves is derogatory.

Without appreciating my intended point, you went on to call me an idiot, due to my lack of understanding of civil rights, or Native populations, or history in general or however you took my reference in using the USA to replace Barbados, only because it made the statement mathematically accurate, as was yours. You quickly went on to conclude I don’t know my ass from my elbow.

You are convinced that “The majority black population in Barbados have a minority parasitic population of 8,000 sucking their blood and living off their backs for over 30 years” is accurate.

Do you really think that the “majority” of the parasitic minority to which you refer, approve and support the <10 persons who are frequently in the press and associated with questionable dealings with public bodies?

Your comments are exactly what the alt-right do. 4 persons who are ‘different to them’ get convicted of a crime, and the immediate response is send them home, ban persons like them. Lump them all into whatever net is convenient.

Progress is made by finding common areas of agreement and building on that, not intentionally dividing and making derogatory labels.

Stop trying to turn it around Northern…..the black leaders in Barbados do act as slaves and treat their own people as slaves and unless someone tells them they are acting as slaves and have been for 50 years post slavery…they will never stop…the only exceptions were the very first leaders post independence who had decorum and a sense of self for that era who did not believe at that time that selling out their people for trinkets and bribes made perfect sense….so don’t tell me any crap…when the slaves in parliament start acting like intelligent black leaders…I will be the first to acknowledge the change and extend congratulations to them fir showing maturity, as it now stands they are desperating looking johnnys come lately looking for the next bribes.

There is a measure of truth in that statement that not even WW&C can refute.

All the current lot of ‘aping’ black politicians are looking to do is to sit in the former Massa chair at the dinner table of kickbacks and bribes and drive around in the big rides (the modern-day equivalent of the two horse coach of Colonel Buggy’s vintage).

Just look how they even try to copy Massa in the way they dress in the hot tropical sun. But Massa used to wear his Bermuda shorts and cork hat while this current lot too like to dress up in their three-piece wool-blend suit and tie with their ‘flared’ noses cocking a snook at their poor unfortunate black brethren while driving through an overflow of human feces on the South Coast.

According to the pen of the Mighty Chalky: “Dem white people laughing at wunna” .

It seems this lot of Fumbling fools have been cursed by the ghost of Privatization. Nothing seems to be going right. From one crisis to another day after day, week after week; whether it be social, financial, economic or environmental.

But Karma or retribution can be a bitch. That’s the result of regaining a government through deceit, lies and propaganda as clearly manifested in that deceitful lying party version of Post-truth politics:

….. it’s time for both 260, 000 plus majority blacks and 8,000 or less minorities to leave the plantation slave and massa mentality behind so that both can achieve good things on the island to benefit all 275,000 PEOPLE and not just a few greedy wannabes trying to relive the fantasy and evil of bygone days.

Miller, regardless of their colour, the fundamental problem that saw the recent Brexit and Trump outcomes is that people all over the world are tired of professional politicians and their poor management.

It used to be that accomplished men stood for election to the House of Assembly on the basis of their lifetime achievements which stood for themselves. The current lot of aspiring politicians see their election AS their lifetime achievement.

The reality we all have to face is that there are few Chastenets in the Caribbean who are willing to leave successful businesses or professional practices to mix it up on the podium with yard fowls.

Which is why I keep saying our only hope is the de-politicising of the senate. Senators internally elected by national institutions and appointed to a senate with increased powers could turn this country around. We will not find the quality of leadership we need on a public podium or by universal suffrage ever again.

I recently saw Dumbville expounding on our move to Republic. I would support him if the model was Roman with a Senate that worked.

You seem to forget they we had centuries of such ‘leadership’ – Including a bunch of Quakers who took three and a half centuries to recognise that ‘slavery was wrong’ and needed to be abolished.
Fortunately for us blacks, this new thinking coincided with them having amassed massive fortunes in England and elsewhere, and with sugar, tobacco and cotton losing much of their earning advantages…. and so emancipation came…

People went for ORDINARY persons in politics in the hope that they would be different to your ‘heroes’.

    LOL
The only difference is that these are poor as shiit, and now need to steal from scratch….

    No BOSS!!!
    The problem is much bigger…..

WW&C….”my points and comments are ALL reality”, Amen.

I am unsure where you have found my comments to be suggesting “all is well”.

Since by birth, I am included in the “8,000 semiliterate, lazy, greedy minorities and generstions of their offspring on the island” to which you refer, permit me to let you know that the Bizzy’s et al of whom you commonly refer are NOT my leaders. You seem to think this PFP, “pay for play” began 30 years ago and is limited to a few persons, whom you and others can separate by skin colour. Hence turn public corruption into an “I versus them” scenario.

I respect your right to believe this will effect the changes you seek. Even though like others, you seem to similarly believe, that changing the people is unlikely to change how they operate, meaning B or D, no difference.

PFP is a global issue. It occurs almost everywhere we humans inhabit. In some countries, if you financially influence non-citizens for the purpose of export gains, it is both legal and tax deductible; however, do so at home and suddenly it becomes illegal.

We are in agreement change is needed. However, our methods differ. I cannot see using derogatory comments and mass generalizations, whether factual or not, will inspire change.

“It occurs almost everywhere we humans inhabit.”

“Almost everywhere”…not everywhere,…Northern…. that means there are those who never engage in corruption…did you ever hear Obama’s named called in corruption with any white, Black, asian etc in his 8 years as president…no, because he did not engage, not everyone is immoral and unethical, not everyone is greedy and self-serving ….corruption destroys countries…corruption is illegal and destructive.

The word is corruption…not play to pay…that’s just an excuse to be corrupt…re Clintons and their foundation.

This is a forum to expose what is covered up and has been for decades and will continue to be covered up on the island if not stripped and unmasked, it’s not for nicties and glossing over….they days for that is long gone and DID NOT work.

No one is trying to change or replace people, you are trying to change mentalities, strip away the facade of the minorities that they must enrich themselves off the backs of the majority at any cost, because somehow they erroneously think it is owed to them because their ancestors were deported from UK or whatever centuries old illness and disease keeps running through your minds…….the majority blacks owe you nothing and you are not their massa, ya just another person….who may or may not be living on the island……

…..strip away the mentalities and facade of the black leaders who reduced themselves to the status of slaves and bribetakers for a small minority of business people like Bizzy, Maloney, et al who believe themselves entitled to every dollar that belongs to the taxpayers, every taxpayer funded contract….strip away and expose those ugly dealings, schemes and scams of corruption between government ministers and minorities that never benefit the majority, that have robbed the taxpayers for over 30 years of millions of dollars..the people are always robbed.

Strip away the facade and lies told by politicians and government ministers to the people. ..half the majority population do not know that they are robbed, their pensions, retirement money and social services are jeopardized because of the actions of government ministers and their corrupt dealings with local and foreign business people or that they have a right to hold ministers responsible and accountable for their loss.

This is not a game of niceties…this is criminality and corruption by minorities and government ministers that must be exposed and stay exposed until there is positive change.

When I first came on the blog, people were trying hard to put the information out there, Caswell and a few others were some of the few willing to call it as it is…but then it needed a few others to say what it really is and not try to shield the culprits and that is when government ministers, lawyers, insurance executives, Bizzy, Cow et al got scared and tried to shut down the blogs in Barbados to cover their crimes and scams against the people, because their names started being called…they are criminals and parasites enriching themselves off the lack of knowledge and weaknesses of the whom people the ministers and politicians work for are paid a monthly salary by and are supposed to be protecting….not helping the minorities steal from them in exchange for bribes and kickbacks. .

Then came the blog Naked Departure and really frightened them, they tried everything to shut that one down, ah heard some of them could not sleep at night….now they know it’s futile…the jig is up…..the criminality and corruption they practiced for 30 years is being closely monitored……

………so, i really dont care about your problems Northern…..you gotta deal with them as you see fit….but there is no stopping the stripping away of this facade of lies, deceit, corruption, criminality and stealing by all the above mentioned against the people…until we see positive change.

Ya better get used to me or you know what to do.

Northern………..did I mention Cow, Bizzy, Maloney, Harris……all the crooks tried to shut the blogs down with the help of DPP Leacock, Mia, Owen Arthur, Dumbville and other government ministers…..and many more

………they were hellbent on keeping the corruption and thievery against the majority population in play no matter what and for as long as it pleased them all….all these beasts who feed off the taxpayers….that’s the only thing they all agreed on…..those wicked slaves who feed off the taxpayers calling themselves ministers abd politicians.

Did I accuse the good President of anything? I said almost everywhere not almost everyone.

And while I could cut and paste many links I will simply direct you to the widespread roofing scandal in the USA, via a blog similar to BU.
    http://schoolroofingscam.blogspot.ca/

Very clearly this is corruption within the USA. And a wide cross section of people were involved.

And I will maintain “almost everywhere” is accurate.

and “No one is trying to change or replace people, you are trying to change mentalities, strip away the facade of the minorities that they must enrich themselves off the backs of the majority at any cost, because somehow they erroneously think it is owed to them because their ancestors were deported from UK or whatever centuries old illness and disease keeps running through your minds…….the majority blacks owe you nothing and you are not their massa, ya just another person….who may or may not be living on the island……

You see, solely because of the colour of my skin and my heritage, I become your target. I get lumped in with “all ah dem”. All because I called your comments racially inappropriate.

This is precisely why today, when I am asked to invest in Barbados, well beyond the particular influence of politicians or those who bribe……read I have the money, I do not need to beg or pay for their blessings….I have stayed away. Because what will be seen is a “white Bajan who thinks he can behave like all the rest ah dem”. I am guilty by my skin colour and my birthplace.

I have never desired to be anywhere (not anyone) I am not welcome. And as clearly an informed and intelligent member of the Barbadian majority, you have confirmed that.

Personally I wish you the best, for change is needed.

I only hope for the Barbadians people’s sake, when you have rid the island of all minorities, for that is clearly your goal, because without them bribing, all corruption will end; the island will function so as to provide for and improve the lives of all those who live there.
