My heart grieves for this nation. It has suffered so much and yet the world continues on its merry way as though this country does not exist. France should hang its head in shame and also the USA. Where has all the money that was pledged to help Haiti after the earthquake, perhaps one of those who are running for the top job in the USA can answer this question.
Obama want thousands of immigrants from he Middle East to come to USA, but just recently scores of Haitians were deported back. This country needs help, but it seems noone cares. Can you imagine people still living in plastic tents since the earthquake, no privacy nothing.
The leaders of the world have no conscience.. As for France she has no heart.
The Seneglese leader invited some of the Haitians to come to Senegal after the earthquake. He sounded genuine. They would be able to assimilate since the French language is spoken in Senegal. They were offered agricultural land. I am sure if the government had encourage the people. Many would not be in the position they are in today. They are trying to get to USA who do not want them, but are unwilling to go to a country that seems to care about them.
Now with Hurricane Matthew the plight of these people will get worse.

The criminal French government needs to give back the money to Haiti that they were forced to pay for their freedom from slavery…all 100 years…they had to pay.
For those who may not know, Haiti is the first independent nation in the western hemisphere, they fought and spilled blood to be free, older than the US…and the people have paid for it ever since, because of their weak and many greedy, corrupt leaders.
Haiti’s weak leaders caused this ruination of their own people who started the ball rolling and loosened the grip of european slavery in the Caribbean
Weak leadership leads to disaster after disaster for the people of weak leaders.
The weak leaders in Barbados may want to take note.

The problem with Haiti is the Haitian people, or at the very least, the majority of the elites, who have repeatedly been accused of abusing the generosity and goodwill of the legions of do-gooders who have laboured mightily to improve economic conditions in the country.
Trust me, there have always been thousands of missionaries, aid workers, and foreign military teams struggling to turn the country around.
Nothing seems to work, and every generation of politicians repeats the mistakes of the previous generations.
Why build flimsy housing on steep, unterraced hillsides? Why build unreinforced concrete structures in earthquake zones? How difficult is it to arrange for the services of Cuban doctors? -
The hemisphere seems to be waiting for Haiti to become a base for propagating jihadist extremism. The entire Caribbean is fertile.

We live in a world where the deep rooted and systemic issues are burried under rhetoric. Just the other day peacekeepers left their germs in that impoverished country and to this day the UN and other global agencies have refused to adequately address the matter. It is this hypocrisy by the world’s elite that adds to the drag afflicting Haiti. The fact the plight of this island is not part of a continuous conversation piece in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean says plenty. Of course we react to events in the USA and N America with heightened interest.

Have to agree with Chad most of the underlying problems in Haiti is rooted incorruption something that all the money in the world cannot solve leaving in its wake worst devastation than matthew with a castrophic loss of trust both from within and without . The internal and external loss of casulaties are even harder to comprehend by some who belives that the world hates Haiti.

That might be one interpretation of the disasters plaguing Haiti.
Why not look at it from the Biblical perspective of a Moses or Daniel asking Mother Nature to return those lands to their original state and send back the African occupiers to Côte d’Ivoire and its environs?
It seems the god of GP and Zoe is not pleased with the behaviour of the blacks in Haiti and has sent plagues to decimate those people. Believing in voodoo and Roman Catholicism is really a no-no. Why can’t they be good evangelical Christians like Anglican Bajans and be spared the wrath of God in the form of the furious Matthew?
Given the pending economic collapse of Bim would you be seeing a similar repatriation of Bajan blacks to Ghana? Maybe then the repatriated blacks would become true entrepreneurs in the land of their cultural birth.

The piss poor nature of Haiti’s leadership – and hence of its national fortune, can EASILY be seen by what is happening in Barbados as we speak. We have gone off on a tangent of greed and selfishness that initially, (like prostitution which it mimics,) appears to bring affluence.
In the longer term however, it brings degradation, despair, disease and hopelessness.This systemic adoption of albino-centric philosophy is central to our long-term demise.
Haiti is unique in that, these, (like Jamaicans) are clearly special people who, like Blacks generally during history, are undergoing unusually harsh trials – precisely because, as SPECIAL people – with a SPECIAL heritage, they have abandoned their natural instincts – and adopted the same albino-centric philosophies.
A loving parent tends to be unusually harsh with a ‘favourite child’ who, having been favoured in multiple ways, resorts to the lowest form of popular shiite on the block…. The prodigal son went through hell itself before being reintegrated into his father’s house…Rest assured that those who have tormented these people over the centuries will pay a terrible price for their wickedness. When the trouble starts, those whose ‘developed’ status lay tenuously on fragile technologies like Electric power to their homes, water pumped into their kitchens, telephone and wireless resources at their fingertips and public transport at their beck and call …will suffer beyond words when these all collapse one day…..
…while those who have grown accustomed to living without these ‘amenities’ will know how to survive….

I think we should pray to our God for the deliverance of Haiti. I believe He is the same God that the majority of Haitians pray to. Some do have different rituals but not inferior rituals. Rituals are only vehicles for coming into communion with God whoever or whatever we perceive him to be.
I hope those who promote reparations observe what reparation can do to a country?From the scientific point of view,Haiti is unfortunate to be sited on an area of the earth that is prone to both earthquakes and hurricanes. Barbados is little more lucky. Thank God. And stop complaining.

Haiti is not the only country subjected to doom and catastrophy right here in our own back yard we had the devastation of natures fury in st vincent when mount Souffrie erupted the govt and people did not buckeled or place blame but took steps and preventive measures in place towards progress.Haiti continuance plight which could have been started years ago does not exempt good goverance presently from placing policies that can be beneficial to its people.
It is about time the govt or any govt that proposes to rule Haiti puts the best country interest first instead of their own -

Moreover, all of my pieces says made in occupied Japan. ……………………………………………..I share your remarks, my heart goes out to these poor people. As a friend said to me last night as we speaking on this…one wonders when the suffering of the Haitian people will end.
Most Barbadians jump on the Clinton bandwagon and few of them know that the Clinton Foundation has been holding on to the funds belonging to Haiti and whilst the people of Haiti remain poor and homeless, the Clintons who came out of the White House dead broke are now very wealthy people. Go figure!

Relief is coordinated through the Rotary and other civic agencies. In the past Barbadians have given generously. A read of the international news shows that the Red Cross and other philanthropic agencies are swarming Haiti at the moment. Aid to Haiti has never been an issue.

The historical context as noted by Pacha is relevant surely but as also Chad noted the elites are the reason that Haiti has remained in their impoverished state since those revolutionary days when the French exacted crippling revenge.
And pause and look at South Africa. With all these crazy actions in the US political process I recently asked myself how well would Dr. King or Nelson Mandela be embraced in today modern xenophobic militancy. It seemed to me that many people would denounce them even more vehemently than Malcolm did Dr. King and Winnie did her former husband Pres. Mandela. This quote from South Africa appears to validate that view (re Mandela, anyhow).

This was part of an essay which touched on the fact that Black South Africans are being discriminated against at historically white schools for – of all things – their ‘unkept hair’. Or as it used to be labelled back in the day: ‘nigga hair’.
Of course the obvious nexus between Haiti and South Africa is that Mandela did not take the L’Ouverture path of pain and destruction of the white overlords. Which is the exact path the youth quoted seems to suggest he should have taken.
So it’s just as obvious that South Africans would have been foolhardy to take that route and send their nation into the abyss. They can overcome the current issues with earnest effort in coming years.

God knows that money is on our mind a lot. So much so that Jesus spoke and taught about money more than he did any other topic!
God knows that greed will destroy us. If we become focused on accumulating more wealth, we become focused and driven by greed and are never content. Often, greed opens the door to other sins and we find ourselves falling farther from God and what He has for our lives.
We must be careful to protect our hearts and minds against greed and to practice contentment. Not only to live being satisfied and thankful for what God has given us but also in being generous in giving!

SYNOPSIS
To understand Voodoo as a culture and a religion, one must understand its history. Haiti has become a prominent figure for Voodoo because of its African cultural and religious heritage.
Through the sixteenth-century slave-trade system, Africans were taken from West Africa to the West Indies to work as slaves on European plantations. They brought their religion with them. In spite of its oral tradition, the core beliefs and practices of Voodoo have been preserved over time and space.
The similarities between Voodoo and traditional West African religion cannot be contested and have led to the understanding that it is indeed the same religion with minor variations influenced by syncretism, creativity, and diverse experiences.
The core doctrines include beliefs in a Supreme Being who can only be worshipped through secondary divinities that emanate from Him, from nature, and from deified ancestors. Its practices range from healing through homeopathic or natural remedies or potions prepared for a variety of symptoms to magic, witchcraft, and sorcery. A careful analysis of the doctrine and practices of Voodoo leads to the conclusion that Voodoo is more polytheistic than it claims to be and that its practices, worship, and way of life are incompatible with the Christian faith.
All of this Voodoo with an admixture of Catholicism, is a recipe for destruction of a people. No matter how many BILLIONS of $$$ are pumped into Haiti, unless, and until there IS* mass repentance and conversion to Christ ALONE, as Saviour and Lord, there will be NO deliverance from the forces of EVIL, Satan and his demonic hoards, that continue to plague the Hatian people under his EVIL dominion!

Do not know about vodoo but this i know that the bible says there is only one power and that is God Almighty.Be that as it may many a people and countries who practiced Christianity has felt the fury of natures warth. Firstly the country geographical position and geological history is problematic which most likely increased its risk to natural disasters like hurricanes but however what is awfully wronged is that Haiti people has lacked good goverance for many years and good infrastructure which puts the country at an even high risk when natural disasters occurs

The death toll in Haiti as a result of Hurricane Matthew – the most powerful Caribbean storm in a decade – has soared to more than 300, officials say.
Some 50 people were reported killed in the town of Roche-a-Bateau alone.
The nearby city of Jeremie saw 80% of its buildings levelled. In Sud province 30,000 homes were destroyed.
The hurricane, now a Category Three storm with sustained winds of 120mph (193km/h), is heading towards the US state of Florida.
At 03:00 local time (07:00 GMT) Matthew was still off the Florida coast, centred about 37 miles (60km) east of Vero Beach and was moving north-west at about 14mph (22km/h), the National Hurricane Center said.
